  1. So true! Way back when I was still dating, I would pay attention to how my dinner companions treated the server. If they were kind, patient and forgiving of mistakes, I knew I had someone that I'd want to go on a second date with. If she was curt or condescending, that would be it. LOL
  2. I have noticed in past seasons that when a frustrated member of the crew phones their parents for a bit of a bitchfest, the parents usually try to mediate in a responsible way that consoles the person, but doesn't fuel the fire and cause them to quit or say something they'll eventually be sorry for. This was very apparant with the Bahamian Princess. Like Rayna, she was also a nasty, turbulent volcano, but her Mom was always the voice of reason. Fast forwarding to the short conversation we heard when Rayna called her father, I got none of that. He didn't seem to want to hear any details before he jumped on her with his advice to never let anyone put you down (paraphrasing). Maybe there was more that got edited out, but it gave me some insight to possibly why she is so obnoxious with that short fuse of hers. Nature vs. nurture? Quite possibly nurture.
  3. The real problem, as I see it, is not that Sheldon and Missy are getting older…that’s a given… but that the writing of the show has gotten well, er, … toxic. I hate what they’ve made of meemaw, don’t like Dale, Georgie’s morals have dropped, George Sr. is on the ledge of infidelity, Missy seems dull and drugged and Mary, well, she’s on her way to a religious cult or something. The only saving grace of the episode was the interaction between Sheldon and Dr. Sturgiss. Sheldon can get older, they just have to stop painting him as a social idiot like they did with the dorm room. He may be socially clueless, but he’s no buffoon. I swear I could write a better screenplay than this episode. I for one would respect the integrity of the characters and play up their comedic potential. YS is listed as a comedy, but lately it’s just depressing.
  4. Eddie is really beginning to irritate me. His deck is going to shit. His crew is losing respect for him and taking kindness (or ineptitude ) for weakness and his attitude is changing towards Lee. I noticed this season that after the "I want my boat daddy back" comment that he has been taking these little "pot shots" at his mentor. Mostly in the talking head segments, as he doesn't have the balls to say that stuff to his face. Captain should bust him back to bosun for the remainder of the season. That would accomplish two good things... it would fill the sorely needed position on deck, as well as give Mr. Ed a deserved kick in the pants. And while I'm at it, Eddie, "backclipping phenomena" caused the jetski to release? Bwahaahaa! Got to join Lee on this one. Wouldn't happen if the clip is properly secured in the first place. Captain wasn't swallowing it :) :) :) A few episodes ago I posted a comment about Rayna, and I stick by it still, She is "useless on many levels". I will give her props for embarrassing Heather by calling her out on the bowl of food, although it would have been more professional if she mentioned it to her in private, But, Rayna says things for effect. A good example is the N word thing. She only seems to mention it when she gets criticised for something. I wouldn't trust her on deck either. She's the kind of crew member that will eventually get someone hurt. Jess, you disappointed me. I thought you did the right thing by saying you thought it over and you weren't going to let anyone show you the door. I thought you had fortitude. I overlooked your lethargic attitude because of this. I chalked it up to post Covid "getting back into the swing of things" and I cut you a lot of slack. I thought you would shape up and be a great asset in this season and maybe more to come. Jess, you threw it all away. You acted like a lazy, spolied brat who took her ball and went home. Enjoy your quiet room and minimal responsibility again. I'll bet there is a part of that ship you will miss, maybe the electricity, maybe certain people, maybe just doing something productive and getting well paid for it. I feel sorry for you. Rachael, you are killing it this year with the food. Too bad you used all your 9 lives up last season. Now would have been the time to say "that's not something I can do for guests" when it came to blending food to a liquid. In your defense, you probably are learning this aspect of what does not work along with the viewers. The wired jaw guest set you up to fail, at least in her experience. It also took something away from the other guests too. A chef needs mental harmony to cook at their creative and technical best. Sometimes, through no fault of their own, something sabotages it. That's what happened here. The rest of her guests don't realize that wired jaw screwed them a bit too.
  5. So funny, facial scrape kid (now healed) with black hair still there, but they made the scarf lady lose the scarf... but she's still in her favorite spot in the corner. Either they noticed it themselves or someone from the show reads this forum. How about using new people sometimes? 😄 LOL
  6. I agree with you Bruinsfan. Captain Lee and his wife Maryann have a teriffic symbiotic relationship that has withstood the test of time. I forget the episode, but Lee jokingly inferred that his wife was getting sick of him being home so much. Do I think she really feels that way? Hell no, but I'm sure she has learned that there are few places he'd rather be than in the wheelhouse of a ship he's in command of. That's why I think he didn't take more time off after his ablation procedure. I don't imagine it's about money, but about being back in control of his life after the horrible scenario of finding his son dead from a drug overdose. I'm also confident that as far as his health is concerned, if he ever felt it was compromising the ships safety that he'd be the first one to suggest he be replaced.
  7. Hmmmmmm, first Brenda flirts, then George Sr. gets shut down sexually from Mary. I'm sensing a kiss and a possible season finale cliffhanger in the making.
  8. Captain Lee is the Captain. Any blame for accidents caused when docking will eventually fall (and remain) squarely in his lap. He is one of the most safety conscious captains I've ever seen. If he's comfortable using a particular distance measurement to gauge his dock approach, then that's what the crew will learn and use. Period.
  9. Analyst insiders say JJ gets 25 Million for the first 130 episodes! I just have to go back to my previous post regarding the gallery. It's getting worse! Is that even possible? They are using the same people over and over and over. I'm even recognizing them now ... especially since they are socially distancing them (which I totally understand) but did anyone think to build a gallery that was a little larger than a walk in closet possibly? I can't help but notice the young guy with the jet black hair and the facial scrape on his left cheek and the older lady that wears the colorful scarfs on her shoulder. They also look like fifty shades of bored. Zzzzzzz.
  10. So it seems from last weeks teasers that Heather is being sucked in by Fraser’s complaints about Jessica. Heather mentioned that she will switch Jessica to service. That would have been the right thing to do if Heather wanted to give her a break from the doldrums of the laundry room, but I think she’s just doing it to stick it to her. She probably is setting her up to fail. What a bitch!
  11. Eddie is barely qualified to be a bosun. I'm sure there is a real FO lurking at a small desk in the engine control room and pissed he had to give up his cabin. I have always thought that Eddie's "promotion" to FO is producer induced. As far as Rayna is concerned, she's useless on many levels. Regarding the tip, it is legal to bring in the cash if declared...usually over $10, 000 USD requires a custom form. Most likely, it was aquired ahead of time through a Caribbean bank to lessen the tax burden. I have also heard that the cost of the cruise is heavily discounted, but the primary is responsible to tip on the entire cost, sort of like when you get one meal free with a coupon. LOL.
  12. Holy Guacamole Batman!! I never realized how much I liked JJ making such quick work of the litigants. The recent "Family In Crisis" two part episode was so excruciatingly boring. They really need to revamp the show and quick. Dump bobblehead Sarah, beg Byrd to return and only the occassional two part show. The pace needs to be picked up big time and the gallery needs to be larger and more visually interesting. They have to know the boat is listing.
  13. Probably a bit of both. I noticed in the last few episodes that production has given a canned question for Sarah to ask Judge Judy. Helps a little, but it's still an awkward chat that seems like such a strain on Sarah. They are like polar opposites.
  14. I just finished watching the latest episode that had the parents concerned their ten year old son was looking at porn on the internet. The ending chat time Judy had with her grand daughter was almost ubearably uncomfortable to watch. For the most part, Sarah just kept nodding her head up and down in this sort of nervous bobblehead loop. I'm sorry, but I think she will be Sarah Bobblehead to me from now on.
  15. Absolutely Steph J... Alcoholics can be surprising in their level of denial. I really never realized the magnitude of it until I tried to give some help to my alcoholic Dad. After spending virtually years being abusive to my stepmother, causing his health to decline, losing all his friends, getting forcefully "Bakered" into a mental health facility in Florida for 14 days, calling the psychiatrist there racist names and being on a first name basis with the police patrols in his area.....I finally got him to attend a local AA meeting. He arrived drunk and was rude and belligerent to anyone that tried to talk to him. All this while procaliming he was not the one with a problem, alas, it was my stepmother and I. That was my college education degree in denial. Right you are Papertree. That's why I was saying in a previous post that I think this is all made up for the show. A bosun is necessary for the proper functioning of the deck. I can understand Eddie wanting to "do more inside the bridge" but he will never be free of the deck until they hire another bosun and he works as a first officer full time....and that can't happen because he's not (at this point) anywhere near ready to to be a first officer. While I'm at it, I'm not sure if Eddie in this episode just got a bad edit or what, but it seems like his new role went to his head and his attitude toward Captain Lee was kind of sour. He thinks he's just going to move into a solo cabin and never see the deck again? Any first officer I've ever known would be the first on deck pulling lines if it ever became necessary. I know he's not popular here, but remember what Captain Sean said? "There's no job on this boat that I would not do" That is how Eddie should be acting and he should have deferred to Captain Lee's hesitancy to promote the deck hand to Lead instead of whining about "Lee should trust me". What Eddie needs to do is trust Captain Lee's many years of experience and sixth sense.
  16. I couldn’t agree with you more. When the series started they kept saying that we shouldn’t assume everything in TBBT will happen in YS, yet many feel that George Sr. death is inevitable. I say if you can have Billy’s sister just disappear from the series, George Sr. can live on.
  17. Yes!! From your lips to Chuck Lorre’s ears. Also, dump Dale and have Meemaw rekindle some sparks with Sturgis.
  18. Judge Judy's grand daughter Sarah must be petrified to be on camera. She is not acting the least bit sassy or snarky. I think she brings zero personality to the table. Like watching paint dry.
  19. They are all having a heavy depressing note lately. In a way, even MeeMaw and Georgie. It would be nicer if their collaboration weren't something illegal. The show used to be...well...er...happier. It's listed as a comedy. Lately, IMHO, not so much.
  20. I was wondering the same thing. A First Officer (3 stripes) is above a Bosun (2 stripes). The big difference is in responsibility. The ships Bosun manages the rest of the outdoor crew and also pilots the tender, schedules watches and work slots, oversees deck maintenance and interfaces with guests. Eddie does all of these things pretty well. A F.O. is an entire horse of a different color. He/she is just below the rank of Captain and as such, has a much higher level of responsibility. They are expected to have a basic understanding of the engineering aspects of the ship, are frequently responsible for passage and navigational plotting, do many clerical duties like ordering and should be able to function as a temporary Captain for short spurts, if the normal Captain should be rendered incapable due to injury or sickness etc. I don't think Eddie is up to the task. Could you see him docking the boat in St. Kitts if Lee were to be incapacitated? Actually, they could send him a boat pilot from shore, but he'd have to at least get the boat there. I don't think he has the experience to do that at all, let alone safely. I'll bet the only radar experience he has is the drift mode when he used to be on anchor watch. The whole promotion thing may just be for the show. It just doesn't make sense to me.
  21. I've watched 4 episodes so far and I have some thoughts I'd like to share. I was also surprised there was no Byrd in the new show, and I did like him a lot in the previous 25 years... but there was something I read in one of the reviews (on a competing site that is named after a fruit, although most think it's a vegetable...a red vegetable that is deteriorating... ha ha) anyway, this reviewer thought the time had come as Byrd may have been getting bored with his role (the crossword puzzles etc.). Just food for thought. My real surprise is how obvious it is that JJ just wants to get her granddaughter Sarah into the public eye. I thought Sarah would at least interview litigants and use some of what she has learned as a legal assistant to add color. No, she sits there looking like a dolt for the entire show and then has a meaningless chat with Grandma while falling over herself to be agreeable. What's the point? At least the stenographer has a real reason to be there, as it's nice to be able to accurately read back what has been said. It sure beats JJ threatening to "rewind the tape" as she has done in the past. We all knew that would never happen. Finally, I was just getting a bit used to the new Ruth Bader Ginzberg hairdo and they throw us a curve with the new robe. Purple?? Seriously? What a poor choice of color for a petite, chestnut haired, cute lady like JJ. It reminds me of the special Advent/Lent garb our church priest would wear for those special masses. I keep thinking I need to line up to receive Communion any minute now. Those are my initial impressions. Other that that, not much is different about what goes on. I'm still very glad there are still new episodes of JJ to watch, but somehow I expected a more satisfying premier week for the Queen of the Bench.
  22. Was he trying to convince them it was raining?* *Big fan of Judge Judy :)
  23. As much as I loved the show in the beginning, it now seems like it's taking a direction that I don't care for as much. Maybe it's inevitable because Missy, Sheldon, and Georgie are all growing up. I do think they are diluting the show by trying to highlight everyone, all the time. It might be different if the show was an hour long, but it's only a half hour show and when you subtract the commercials, that does not leave a lot of time for everyone. The shows title is Young Sheldon and I think the episodes should mainly feature him and how he reacts to the world and people around him. They seem to slowly be getting away from that and also the episodes are getting darker (Brenda and George Sr.) etc. I hope I am wrong and it's just me, but I think the show may be jumping the shark. Say it ain't so.
