I actually read Grogu there for a moment 😂

Has this show just retconned itself? Last time we saw Troi and Riker they seemed to still be grieving (you never stop grieving a child) but also at ease with each other and trying to make a happy home for Kestra. Who I am sure would be thrilled to move to a city. Or is she already grown-up and doing her own thing? I've lost the timeline. As for the rest: I never cared too much for Data post TNG so this whole trip down memory-lane did nothing for me. I knew he would come through. But I must admit "Monologuing protoplasms" caused the first real laugh I ever experienced watching this season. I'm also mildly amused by Zen Worf. Jack mindwalking through the Titan's corridors, seeing dead crew members was a bit of effective horror at least. And for once the bad lighting made sense. Maybe Rafi was honoring Elnor with her badass sword stunt? Two more episodes to tinker in front of that stupid door. I doubt this can be brought to a satisfying resolution but here we are.

It was nice that Kyle wanted to jump in and help Clark. And Lana was really subtle in stopping him. It was a good episode for Kyle.

S03.E06: Chapter Twenty Two - Guns for Hire
MissLucas replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Mandalorian
Ah well, a bit of fun for a change. I loved the cameos and all the worldbuilding, heartbreaking love-story, the buddy cop comedy and knight Grogu! I also loved the whole CSI shout-out complete with 'enhance that' LOL! Interesting that for the first time (IIRC) a Mandalorian brought up Din's non-Mandalorian blood. Seems that in that respect the covert is the progressive community at least. Bo-Katan never gets that Darksaber in a straight-up duel but good for her. And for Din, because ruling Mandalore was clearly never on his bucket list. And even if Bo-Katan did not fight Din her fight with Axe was kickass. I agree that Katee Sackhoff really ruled over this episode. Loved how she played Bo here, cool and commanding, slightly amused throughout the side-quest and by the end clearly conflicted until she decided to make her move. . I have a strong suspicion that most folks who loved CW are okay with this episode while those who aggressively don't want to acknowledge the animated shows are mostly in the hate camp. -
Damn it Ted, stop missing appointments with Dr. Sharon!!! You're a mess and it affects your job performance (even if other performances seem okay according to Dr. Sassy). You left your team in crisis - why the hell did you walk off and leave Beard and Roy in charge at such a volatile moment? Props to talk to your wife, baby steps I guess. Keeley needs to step up her game too. Not knowing her actual boss is really not a good look, and neither is her inability to see that Shandy is not right for the job (or needs a lot more monitoring/mentoring). If Nate does not catch up soon on Rupert's mind games (the whole 'Rupert' - 'Mr Mannion' thing) he's beyond redemption for sheer stupidity. And he's not stupid. It's also interesting that they showed him noticing Rupert being handsy with his assistant. I loved Bex going all ageist on Rupert, it clearly irks him. I do hope she and Rebecca will join forces in bringing him down. Sassy being all polite with the Uber driver and complimenting his car seats after Ted had told her how he gets his five rating was a nice touch of writing. ETA: I take Sam not participating in the bantr thingy as confirmation that he and the chef are (on their way to becoming) an item.

5 minutes in I thought 'this reminds me of Better Off Ted' - so glad I wasn't the only one! Rob Lowe is really good at comedy/dramedy. I'm still sad 'Wild Bill' did not get a season 2 but dude's in demand.

This!!! I'm also tired of this continued deconstruction of Starfleet. Starting with season one of Picard when Starfleet let the Romulans to their own devices. It was a thinly veiled allegory for the current refugee crisis around the globe that went exactly nowhere beyond 'Starfleet sucks now!' Section 31 has become the sledgehammer in the writers toolkit to further that narrative and I'm not sure whether I really want to see the spin-off coming into existence anymore - despite my love for Michelle Yeoh.

S03.E05: Chapter Twenty One - The Pirate

Man, I can just see Greef Karga furiously waving the lease around pointing out the animal addendum: Tenants shall not keep any pets on the Property without the prior written consent of the Landlord. -
The assassin was Fjerdan so the show is contradicting itself or is pulling the non-reliable-narrator card. I guess the show will delve deeper into this when/if it's resumed. Or it will happen in the Six of Crows spin-off. I can't due to rules.

There are still Grisha in Fjerda.

He! The two dozen people were indeed hilarious. I've read somewhere that that's due to constraints of the Volume stage. Not sure why they could not add a couple more folks in post or however you call it. Maybe Zeb and the dog fights ate up the budget. -

Zeb was a main character in Star Wars Rebels - other characters from the series have already been cast to appear in Ahsoka. But a lot of folks did not believe that Zeb would make an appearance in live-action tv due to his looks. Hence the excitement. I doubt that he will make a regular in Ahsoka as he's all CGI but it's still neat to see him around. -
Yeah, inviting an enemy force on board a ship while at the same time experimenting with an evil AI is a pure stroke of genius. But then what can you expect from people who don't know how to switch on the lights? More retconning, more bad lighting, more grimdark Starfleet, more questions without answers, more bland appealing to nostalgia 🤷♂️

S03.E05: Chapter Twenty One - The Pirate

I thought the Armorer suggested that Mandalorians should put aside dogmatic differences and work together. Not sure how feasible that is in the long turn but for now the prophecy seems to trump her disdain for those outside the Creed. From my understanding Bo Katan is sent on a mission of recruiting not proselytizing. -
Okay, closing out with Leonard Cohen is always winning me over. Not that that was necessary. I love new Jamie. Beard's face after Ted made the ironic observation was priceless. Looking forward to the Roy and Jamie bromance. Always happy to see Sassy. Can't stand Shandy (and Keeley's pink Versace atrocities). Also on that list: Jane. The green matchbook can mean all sorts of thing. TV shows like to play with those psychic message plots. Characters think they know what was meant but in the end the meaning was something completely different. (Putting aside here whether psychics are just frauds or not - in tv land the rules are different.) Rebecca might think Sam is her sh+te in ninning armor but that's a misdirect by the writers. Oh Colin ,if you want to stay under the radar get a different car. I don't think Trent Crimm will out him but things will get messy and I'm not particularly looking forward to how that plot unfolds.

To exactly nobody's surprise Cid turned on the team. Hunter's superior senses are obviously no match for her race. Gotta hand it to them - I did not see the last plot twist coming. Note to Hemlock: broken goggles are no proof in tv land.

S03.E05: Chapter Twenty One - The Pirate

Never thought I'd see a live-action Lasat - and then the voice! *squeeeeee* Zeb!!! Well, I'm glad the covert moved to a place with considerable less risk of monster-mauling. And it was great to see Mandalorians in action, I always love those dropship scenes (despite suffering from vertigo) and we even got to see some rare Armorer fight scenes. I'm intrigued by her switch from cult-thinking to strategic thinking. Seems OOC but I guess Bo's claim to have seen the Mythosaur had her more rattled than she let on. On a simple viewing level I'm glad we get back to seeing Katee Sackhoff's face and on a narrative level I'm glad the question of all the remaining Mandalorians is finally getting addressed. I am however still not sure about Paz Vizsla's loyalties. It will be interesting to see how that whole 'both ways walking side by side' thing will work out. It's also interesting that so far Din's ownership of the Darksaber has been a non-issue. I suspect that will change soon. I really like how this season is branching out into the wider story. We got to see Coruscant again complete with Elia Kane doing her villaining and how the New Republic is already failing. Plus we now we have confirmation that Moff Gideon is on the loose again. Is the story switching from Din/Grogu to Bo? I think the switch fits into the broader narratives of Mandalorian exile and the fall of the New Republic. For the time being I'm okay with that since the wolf & cub plot of the first seasons got a bit repetitive. I trust TPTB that they will get back to the show's OTP. And on a sidenote: I'm glad pirate radioactive-lettuce-head got up in flames. I hated the design, it just looked cheap. -

I keep wondering about dental care. Maybe they all floss daily (alone) and never have any cavities. Come to think of it: beskar fillings would be cool. Book me a seat at the table of overthinking. -

I wouldn't trust the YT superfans they need to come up with content and sometimes they are very 'creative'. I was also thrown by Paz Vizsla's claim that Ragnar was his son. It could mean adoptive son. If Ragnar is his biological son then my first question is not helmet-related but: where is Ragnar's mother? Also: even if the helmet-off thing in front of family is true Din needed to redeem himself as he also took off his helmet in the episode with Bill Burr. Plenty of questions. I think one of the reasons Bo Katan was thrown into the mix is that someone asks all those things in lieu of the audience. -
Alina's plot has already been hinted at: returning the magic blade, presumably she will also have to deal with her merzost usage. Unless Six of Crows is turned into a spin-off - which I doubt - TPTB are not going to sideline any main characters for a prolonged period of time.

Yes, it bugs me that nobody questioned his sudden River Tam moment. That has nothing to do with Picard's illness. Unless we're supposed to think young Jack was also extensively trained in hand combat. Jack-of-all-trades 🤷♀️ however the editing and framing of the scene seemed to indicate that something else was going on.

S03.E04: Chapter Twenty - The Foundling
MissLucas replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Mandalorian
Tales of the Jedi gave an additional explanation for Ahsoka's survival (in addition to the split second warning she got by Rex trying to fight Order 66). If anything bugged me about this episode it was the fact that raptor mom had attacked before and yet those supposedly great warriors never thought of taking precaution. I'm also somewhat miffed that show more or less dropped Mandalorians being great with all sorts of tech. We saw Din fix his armour once but then that aspect got dropped completely. Sabin would have MacGyvered an early warning system out of scraps (granted she was exceptionally gifted but Rebels still had Mandalorians being good at engineering as a theme). And if the covert has lost its tech skills (except for the Armorer) then at least post a lookout! -
The bee is significant - a production goof would not get a close-up.

S03.E04: Chapter Twenty - The Foundling

He wasn't pulled, seismic activity during the Purge opened a chasm that nobody knew about. Din had also removed his jetpack. So down he went and the poor Mythosaur gets blamed. -
Despising them does not mean they won't weaponize them - quite the contrary. The Grisha assassin was hooked on jurda parem. Unfortunately the show decided to give the necessary background info in Kaz's rushed voice over but that was not enough. Instead of showing us an endless montage of blood spluttering they should have given a bit more time to the necessary exposition. The show has been fighting a valiant effort against structural problems all season and in this episode it finally succumbed to the strain. I'll take the rest to the book vs show discussion.
