I don't think the key to resistance is simply time. Kilgrave's parents were under his sway for awhile. I don't recall exactly what they said, but it sounded like they stuck it out for some time. I was surprised that Jessica only now figured out that she's immune. I thought that was clear from the flashbacks to the bus incident, but I suppose if she had misremembered the exact sequence of events, that would explain why she didn't know for sure. It certainly clarifies her mindset in the previous episodes. I sorta suspected she didn't get it, but I wasn't sure until this ep. The one thing about this show that throws me is how variable or non-spectacular Jessica's powers are. For example, super strength and super jumping both imply, from a purely physical perspective, a resistance to physical trauma. Yet Crazy Neighbour was able not only to knock Jessica out with one blow to the head, but to knock her out overnight.

In this episode they tried to finesse that by saying the tatts pointed to Richie's ongoing activities. It just so happened that his latest activity (targeting intelligence operators) happened to hit very close to home. I do agree with you though that, overall, it's a bit dodgy. For me the combination of the length (not fuzz, not full, exactly the same as on his head) and production's fondness for extreeeeme close-ups create the impression that Weller is covered in fur, sort of like a wolf- or caveman. P.S. I cheered when Zapata trashed that bug. Go Zapata!

TPTB probably want us believe it's supposed to be both of them, but on balance, I'd say it's actually Stapleton. Based on episodic press releases, Alexander appears to be #1 on the call sheet, but SS has top billing and the screenwriting is tipped toward Weller as the overarching protagonist. Weller's giant, grizzly bear, stalker-face looming over Jane's naked body in the title sequence says a lot.

Well, if they'd done that, there would have been no thrilling gun battle to destroy the inside of the widow's home, and where's the fun in that?

Yet they proceeded to write the FBI agents chasing an unarmed civilian with their weapons drawn. "I don't really understand the procedural issues that underlie questionable law enforcement shootings, but it sure sounds sexy, so throw it in there!" I was almost embarrassed at how long it took me to understand why the Snowden character was called Winter. I had a good laugh at my own expense. Weller, ah Weller, just when I think it's not physically possible to annoy me more, he proves me wrong. It was great to see Jane hanging out with Zapata and Patterson; she acts like an actual adult when she's with them. I hope Zapata confesses to Mayfair and gets that CIA prick off her back. Team Mayfair (or Anyone But Weller) all the way!

The Mayfair-Weller dynamic REALLY needs to be fixed. It is just all sorts of wrong. The FBI has a strict hierarchy; just because Weller is played by the lead actor doesn't mean he gets to throw his weight around and be the boss. Jane's anxious attachment issues with Weller are extremely off-putting. I want to hope that the fact that the combination code was 'Kurt' instead of 'Shaw' -- the one person Tree Dude definitely expected to be at the station (see: helicopter) -- is a big clue to Jane's non-Shaw identity, but I'm not that lucky. And while we're at it, we can lay off the Reade As Skeptic button, too, or change it up so his concerns turn out to have merit. All the character beats are ramped up to 11 on this show.

This bugged me no end. As best I could follow his logic, Eastman was equating 'evil' with 'psychopathy', and either he was a poor diagnostician or he worked in a happy prison because he also underestimated the prevalence of psychopathy (not exactly the same thing as ASPD). The prevalence thing I could chalk up to writer error, but "you don't have psychopathy unless you're EVOL" is a simplistic, dumb, and probably dangerous myth that I want to see gutted and set on fire. "Psychopaths are lurking everywhere!" is an over-correction in the opposite direction, but that's another story. Re: Morgan -- sorry to mix metaphors, but it seems to me this guy needs to find the middle way, and fast!

Jane's therapist is the worst. He was doing so great until tonight when he leapt to the conclusion that the shadowy guy in Jane's dream was Weller. The "*I* didn't say that!" manipulation was terrible. I was relieved and laughed mockingly when it turned out Tree Dude is an actual, other person. I liked the case of the week -- I mean the character and the actor. The plotting was stupid as hell, but she was engaging. When she helped crack one of Jane's tattoos, it reminded me of the case from last week's The Player, where the 17-18 year-old hacker kid was on the run from both the Feds and mobsters, and in the end he decoded part of a personal mystery for Other Guy from Strike Back. I'm noticing a pattern in Jane's and Weller's interactions where they go back and forth taking alternate sides of an argument. It's dizzying and ridiculous. I do hope Jane finds another friend or something to help with her loneliness. Finally, I really want. Weller to. change up his speech. pattern Itisawful.

Here is the rundown on the twins. NIMAH: Wanted the FBI, more adventurous, mean/aggressive, "average" performance; left Quantico. RAINA: Didn't want FBI, more conservative (and devout?), nice/likes Simon, excellent performance.

Except Morgan related that spiritual guidance in the middle of a fight with people who were chopping people to hamburger, unprovoked. Therefore, it rang hollow and was irrelevant to the situation at hand. Also, does he even know Carol?

1x06 "Cede Your Soul" = Cloud Our Eyes

A serious stiff with dodgy grooming and dress habits. They did the same thing again with the guy at the end. "He's dead, Jim. Boom. End of story." Even though they were in a hospital and a team could have rushed in a tried emergency resuscitation procedures. I was surprised Jane "Won't Stay in the Car" Doe so quickly resigned herself. I hope (trust?) Mayfair can finesse a solution to the Daylight problem. When HItG!Fed Man told her to get rid of the situation, I yelled back, "No! Manage the situation! Manage it!" I like the character (and the actor) a lot.

We are as one. I had my hands up in the applause-ready position, only to have my hopes cruelly dashed. I was looking forward to seeing what a grizzled, mumbly meltdown looks like. I hope in future weeks Jane pairs up with other agents. I'm already tired of the Jane/Weller dynamic, and I'd like to see what different aspects Jane, Reade, and Zapata can bring out in one another. The scene with Patterson was good -- I perked up thinking Jane might bring some arcane knowledge to bear -- but too short.

Every time I read something about Jane being a Navy Seal I can't help but chuckle The irony of the pilot leaking one week before two women graduated Army Ranger school and the ensuing media frenzy (and supportive statements from the other branches) over that -- it makes me wonder if the writers room did a massive round of face-palming and head-desking.

Did Agent in Charge make them into a task force? I honestly don't remember. I, too, appreciate his skepticism, but I feel like the writing is stacked against him. I kept waiting for him to say, "Maybe we should investigate a little bit before we go charging in like bulls in a china shop," but that never happened. Sullivan Stapleton is working hard to bite back his accent, isn't he? I like that the show is attempting a bit of realism with regard to Jane's confusion, but, I dunno, there's something about it that is too much. Jane seems like she's going to mentally fall to pieces at any moment. I like when she goes into Super Special Ops mode, but then she snaps out of it and immediately goes frazzled. Also, the "someone interrupt right as Jane is having a breakthrough!" device is going to get old very quickly. Like, 30 minutes ago, quick.

Right, but then they had Abraham come along and implicitly compare her to a fascist. The writers keep dropping those sorts of insinuations and then backing off from them. I wish they'd either stop that or go for it (so I can be disgusted because there's no good reason to go there).

You were not wrong. There were people following behind the Army guys. However, the editing made it unclear where those people came from. Chris said "feeding time in the zoo." The people seemed to be carrying empty containers. My best guess is that those people were from inside the zone, and they were coming to the central distribution spot.

I don't understand why or how the SZ India people would NOT know that civilisation has collapsed based simply on logic alone. They are living in a random suburb with no apparent strategic value, yet they have an entire military contingent of their very own and no massive influx of refugees. Where do they think all the people not in safe zones are? The desert?

The only part of this episode that didn't work for me was the attempted rape scene. I don't know that it was necessary to pile that on, and like others, I am wary that it was done in the service of Fet's story. I sure hope not. That said, Ruta Gedmintas as Dutch was spectacular throughout. Oh, wait, Gus was also in this ep, but it goes without saying that his part didn't work. Does someone behind-the-scenes owe Miguel Gomez a great debt? It's mind-boggling how stagnant and superfluous Gus's story is. Would someone care to enlighten me as to what emotion or expression Eph was trying to simulate in the drive away from the hotel? All I got was 'creepy'.

Anyone have a guess as to why Morphine Drip Wife went away with her husband, but Daniel Salazar was not allowed to accompany his wife? P.s. Not only did Madison not pick up the gun, but she left behind her bolt cutters. I know it's early and everyone is naive, so I'm trying to be patient with them, but it's... difficult.
