Zoey1996- enjoy your British time.  Too much wonderful stuff to see and not enough hours in the day.

... and watching historic Base Ball at Greenfield Village- my moments of Zen for the week.

    Have a wonderful summer everyone!

Thanks!  Enjoying my time here with family.  Yesterday we took a train into London and toured the State rooms at Buckingham Palace.  So amazing!  But a long, exhausting day.  Just resting today!

I too love old time Base Ball.  I know I’ve seen games in Wichita at Old Cow Town, and in Iowa at their living history museum near Des Moines.  Possibly elsewhere too, though I can’t recall just now.

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

  2. I was starting to feel kind of bummed to be second from the bottom.  Then I realized that the list was in alphabetical order. 🤭

What a great season!  One of our own in the Teacher Tournament, and Mr. Atoz, who joined us after he was a contestant!  Just lots of laughs, and a few tears.

Enjoy Buckingham Place - are you gong to see the new Victoria/Albert exhibit there? Give the queen my regards!

I’m sure we will enjoy the visit. Yes, we plan to see the Victoria and Albert exhibit.  I’ve heard it’s so well done!  If we get the chance we’ll do the royal wave to her.

  4. I’ve been in England for a week now.  Missing my Jeopardy! but keeping up with FJ.  Had a pretty good week.

My DD, son-in-law, and granddaughter live in Bournemouth.  We had a couple of really hot days, but today is nicer. Wanted to go to Kew Gardens yesterday, but it was much too hot.  We have tickets booked for the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace before I go home.  I’ll be here a couple of more weeks.

  5. I thought this tied up Sydney's story nicely.  His romance with Violet happened too quickly, but for storyline purposes it pretty much had to, to get him off to America.  The first half, about the brother's murder, was full of stereotypes.  The second half, about the prostitutes, was more interesting, although painful.

The fete scenes were well done.  Loved Cathy paying for the ride.  "It's only tuppence."  It's interesting to watch how she and Geordie are negotiating family life after last season's revelations.

Looking forward to new episodes this season, to see how the new vicar pans out, etc.

Almost an instaget FJ today -- my initial response was, "The woman who wrote The Lottery!  Shirley... Shirley.... JACKSON!!!!"  I got it in plenty of time to write it down.  But, gee, I don't know if I would have gotten it if the category hadn't been "Women Authors" -- I might have gotten all confused, thinking they were looking for a man.

Thank you, "Justin Morgan Had A Horse" (by another woman author, Marguerite Henry) for that TS that I got!

Jackson was almost an insta-get for me.

When I was a horse-crazy pre-teen, I received that book.  Loved it!  My bucket list included the pony swim from Assateague to Chincoteague that Henry wrote about in Misty of Chincoteague, and I've gotten to go twice!  For a Kansan, that was a dream come true!

Please, please, please continue the contest! It's been a lot of fun. No prizes are necessary. Bragging rights are all most Jeopardy fans want anyway.  Thank you, @saber5055, for starting and running the contest.

Agree! It's been so much fun, even though I'm getting barely half of FJ right!  I'm in for next season!

If I counted correctly, there are 7 more weeks of regular play; last episode for the season is on July 26, total of 46 weeks.

  9. Week 43 - 3/5

    Season to date - 113/213 12*

I attended a lecture series in a local church in the fall that was about the Reformation, so Martin Luther was a big part of it.  Indulgences were mentioned, so while I would have gotten to Luther eventually, it helped me get there more quickly.

I love Before and After categories, so I really liked this game.

I don't know how or why I know that Mozart died in 1791, but FJ was an insta-get for that reason. I didn't even notice that the clue mentioned Vienna until afterwards.

I like the before and after category, but I almost never get them!

Not sure how I came up with FJ, but I did!

  11. Aw, I like Charlie, really liked his story today.

I’m terrible with mythology, whether it is Greek, Roman, Norse.  I guessed witch but I didn’t think it was right.

I knew Bradbury.  I should have known South Lawn.  I entered the lottery for the Easter Egg Roll at the White House for my granddaughter a couple of years ago.  Didn’t get in though.

Oh, and did anyone else notice, the category was American Authors, and one of the answers was a woman, can’t remember who.

Chicago Hope. The latter might have fared better if it hadn't debuted in the same year as ER, and I thought it started out as the better show.

Yes, I too watched Chicago Hope, so I knew that one.  I guessed Laird instead of Thane, even though Lord was in the clue.

I guessed Antarctica, kept (mis)counting the letters.  I never would have gotten Polynesia.

The Patinkin category felt incomplete without a mention of Criminal Minds

Agree.  Alex didn't do the Inigo Montoya accent too badly, though.

  13. More sad times for the Sharrows.  Since we know better now, I was pretty sure if Virginia had survived, it would have been in spite of and not because of the bleeding.  Also sad about Meredith and the boy.  The backstory of Meredith's boy dying was another common tragedy of the time.

They are kind of doing a character assassination of Gov. Yeardley, but the drama makes interesting watching, even as I'm rolling my eyes.  A lot of the history of the show is in line with what is known of the Jamestowne colony, however, so I won't complain too much.

Just noticed Mercy's new hairstyle; I think I like the bangs better.

  14. Table for one please.  I really liked it last season, and I enjoyed last night's episode as well.  I started watching due to Alan Cumming, but kept watching because to me, it is a good show.

I never watched Bones, so had no idea that it was copied.
