    S07.E03: Capsized

I did notice a couple of teenagers, but there was such a mixture of people in the family that I lost track of who was who, other than Mom. Edit: Actually, come to think of it, I didn't notice any other small children. Just the teens, mom, dad and I guess grandma. Maybe there was an aunt (?) too. I really thought the kid was non-verbal with as little as he said, so it surprised me when he spoke to Bobby. My son, once he did finally learn to speak (he had speech delays) he became extremely vocal. Heck, even before he could form words and sentences, he was vocal. I used to joke that he just liked hearing the sound of his own voice, even if he was just using it to make various sounds. Since there are varying degrees of autism (and you can probably throw ADHD, Dyspraxia, etc) into the mix, spectrum is just an all-encompassing term and then people can choose if they want to elaborate.

Nah. As a parent with a kid (now a teenager almost finished with high school) on the spectrum, my first thought during that entire montage was that he was on the spectrum. The only difference with mine is that we never ignored him long enough for him to be forgotten. I think it was their subtle intention to display him that way, without coming right out and saying it.
  3. Kandy, Kandy, Kandy... please lose the come hither look, or at least mix it up a little! Is it a lack of imagination when you come walking out on stage with other expressions? Granted, I did see her momentarily flinch into a smile for a brief second or two, but that expression quickly returned. Tweety Bird dress had to go though. And Jimbo with the boobs... once again, over the top. Overall, I think this was the most disappointing All-Stars season, since season 1. I know Jimbo seemed to be very popular, but I'm just not a fan of the clown queens, so eh. But, she had the most wins challenge-wise (though I don't think she deserved it for Snatch Game of Love) so for it to go any other way would have been surprising. I ended up voting for Kasha Davis in the Fame Game, thoughI knew it would end up being La La. I still have much resentment for Darienne Lake over season 6 and her bullying Ben. So meh, didn't miss her when she left.
  4. Just watched last night, so I'm a bit behind. Not going to lie, I'm glad it's finally come to an end. There were some good seasons, but unfortunately too many bad ones. But I've been a loyalist for the Arrowverse (well except I haven't gotten around to watching Stargirl yet--guess I will add that) so I was going to stick it out to the bitter end (then again, I said that about Grey's Anatomy too, but that's neither here nor there). I'm gonna go against the grain here, but I was not impressed by Eddie, or rather Rick Costnett's acting (--oh wow, Googled him, he's Hugh Grant's cousin, I did not know that). Season 1 you know, I liked him well enough, but he was kind of just a side character at the time so I guess it wasn't as noticable for me. This time around, meh. Even the announcement of "Cobalt Blue" wasn't as impressive as I thought it should be (not a character I'm exactly familiar with, but with the articles I read about the character possibly coming to The Flash, makes him seem like he was big and important, important enough for huge fanfare, so to speak). When he said to Team Flash "... I have my LEGION," gave me a good chuckle. I was expecting them to pan behind him showing thousands of "minions" behind him. Because technically if you look up the definition, well that's what it's supposed to mean, thousands of "soldiers." I guess it was just supposed to be a fun word to say. Couple more nitpicks and then I'll stop the hate (ha) I also didn't care about Chuck & Allegra. Mind you, separately, I like them enough, and I certainly don't mind them being together, because whatever. But just so much emphasis on "will they, won't they?" over the last season (or two?), I just didn't care (and from the looks of things, I wasn't the only one). And although I didn't dislike Khione (or Frost--actually, I loved Frost in her quirky little way), I almost thought "what was the point?" I mean she was almost very similar to Caitlin in a way, just a little more mellow and earth-mothery. But glad she returned in the end. I thought the "death" of a character that was such a big part of the crew was just... passive? This pertains to the later episodes of the season, but what was the point of having Joe and Jenna move away if he was going to continue to make appearances through the rest of the season? I'm NOT disappointed that he did, because I really like Joe, but the whole thing just set Camille to look like she was an absentee mother. It was stupid and unnecessary. Also, I too have always thought they were married. Guess I just always assumed it was a behind the scenes thing that happened. I did chuckle at her throwing the pillow on the floor, I thought that maybe it was to make it easier for Jesse L. Martin to bend down (with his back problem and all). I admit I didn't even think of Cisco until I started reading the comments here (out of sight, out of mind I guess), but yeah it seems odd that he wasn't mentioned at all, especially since he has been mentioned on previous episodes. Iris giving birth to such an "older" baby did not surprise me. I mean that's most shows anyway. Why I hate birth scenes. Just don't bother. She was a cutie though. I'm glad Big Nora being there didn't cause them to wipe each other from existence (maybe that only happens if the two realize who each other are?). I loved seeing John Wesley Shipp return again one last time. I still heart him as The Flash from his series in the 90's. When I first started watching this version of The Flash and saw that he was going to be playing a character on this one, I was giddy. Let me tell you, that man was hot back in the day. Favorite "moment" of the season was Ollie's return. Even though I thought Arrow was definitely due to end when it did, I still kind of missed seeing Stephen Amell playing Oliver. So nice to have a little reunion there. Really, I want to add some stuff about Barry & Iris, but just not a lot that I can think of. I think because stuff with them just didn't seem to stand out this episode, I don't know. I will say this though, although the writing over the years has been iffy, Grant Gustin and Candace Patton have done spectacularly as Barry and Iris. I just wish Barry wasn't so opposed to just punching the F out of some villains over the years. You can't redeem everyone, but I guess when you're the good guy you've gotta give it a try.
  5. Albert needs to come back next season and announce "Dude, I'm a Librarian!"
  6. Nah, Owen just has a personality defect. DLA (allow me to steal the nickname and abbreviate, LOL) was shown to be dizzy at times, and what looked like his vision being all wonky and that made me (and others) think "okay, brain tumor maybe?" Sorry I snipped it out, but yeah you're right about the wrestler. But I was thinking more along the lines of the heckler (his dad I assume) being somewhat responsible, with the abusive heckling and egging him on to do whatever it took to win the match (even if it meant injuring his opponent). Hello, Mr. Kreese.
  7. To be fair though, that other guy was a total jerk (so was the kid in the drive-thru). I'm not saying that it justified anger dad attacking the wrestler, but would that other guy even be allowed to run his mouth off at a high school wrestling match? I was hoping the coach, referee or someone would tell him to get the hell out. IF anger dad had punched him, I would have cheered. It surprised me that he went after his son's opponent.
  8. After the wrestling attack, they showed his vision looking a little bit wonky, he almost seemed dizzy. And then the road rage, I mean I saw the driver waving a gun around and then they didn't find a gun, so I was thinking that maybe anger guy was having some kind of hallucination, picturing the bottle as a gun, so yeah, I immediately thought that maybe he had a tumor? I halfway expected him to collapse on the ground (not shoot the other guy). I wonder if it will even come back to that (if they revisit it).
  9. She had both types of POA, because she was helping her mom through her illness, as well as helping her keep her financial affairs in order, but I think she shared them with her oldest brother, but he lives in another state, she handled most of it. Absolutely agree on Nancy. I thought it was so odd that the dying woman wanted her to be fired (or to resign) from the job, never to work in the field again. How would that have been a teaching moment for her? It would have made me bitter if I couldn't work in my chosen profession and it wouldn't make me sympathetic to those in that situation, because I'd be so bitter.
  10. Oh, I thought exactly the same thing. I thought she was part of the whole trafficking thing and she was going to end up being the one to attack Owen. I was still suspicious of her when she showed up in this, but I still thought she was still in cahoots with the deputy, until Carlos' reveal.
  11. 20+ years ago, my MIL's mother, suffering from heart disease, had a heart attack (or something of that nature). She had a DNR. MIL, who had POA (both medical and financial), overruled the DNR and insisted medical staff do everything they could to save her, so they did. And the poor woman spent another month, suffering, barely awake for most of it, and in pain when she was, before MIL finally relented. I get that it was hard for her, and I try to be sympathetic, but she put her own personal happiness over her mother's comfort and I don't agree with that. I feel like the hospital should have said from the start "These were your mother's wishes, we can't disregard that," but I don't know if her having POA negated all of that. I don't think it should have, but what do I know? In both that and this particular situation, I think the relatives (my MIL, and the sister in this episode) hold a major responsibility of knowing exactly what the patient wanted, and going against it. However, after all that (and I do absolutely think that Nancy should have been punished for it, like suspension and/or a permanent reprimand on her record) I don't think permanently ending her career was the right answer either, and I don't blame Tommy for fighting for Nancy in this case. I hope that it was a major teaching moment for her, not to let her own feelings interfere with a patient's wishes. Perhaps watching Metallica's "One" video should be a requirement for all going into the profession.
  12. Thank you! I've been reading all through this thread, waiting for someone to bring this up. I've never worked in that business, but even I knew they couldn't straight up give the information out like that. Any "nut" could claim to be from emergency services, etc. I'd be pissed if I found out my CC company gave out my info to someone who "claimed" to be a 911 operator. This and the thing with Wyatt's veganism (along with a ton of other things) really makes me wish that writers would put a lot more effort into doing research, instead of coming up with contrived BS just to create drama.
  13. I'm replying to this a year and half later (finally able to watch the series myself, so I'm binging) and I came here to say the same thing about about the Madonna runway... all the iconic looks she had throughout her 30+ years in the business, and 4 of them chose to do her in a kimono? Just for that alone, at least 3 of them should have had to lip sync. That was pure laziness and I was so disappointed. I think RuPaul should have assigned each of them different Madonna "eras," because it was clear they couldn't think for themselves. I snipped it out, sorry, but I agree with everything you said about Snatch Game. That was pretty bad.
  14. I wonder if he had an immunity to her, so he just assumed she wasn't contagious? As cruel as the General is, he might have had the right idea to quarantine her. I wonder if that had to do in the manner that they were each raised. Pubba only really taught him to stay hidden, not to leave the enclosure, etc. Didn't prepare him for the evability that something might happen to him (Pubba) and perhaps thought he'd have more time to teach him that later. I couldn't tell if Pubba taught Gus basic survival skills. On the other hand, Aimee also taught Wendy to stay hidden, but she also taught her how to cook, how to grow a garden and many other things, AND what to do if humans can't be avoided. Or, it could just be the difference in maturity rates between boys and girls, how girls tend to mature at an earlier age than boys. That seemed odd too. I guess she was forgotten in all the confusion? Oh I didn't notice that! I wonder if all the wives/mothers faced the same fate as his? Or, if someone quickly got them out of there because they knew they would be in danger, especially since Jebb had taken off. I was wondering this myself. How did they go from a test tube baby to all women giving birth to hybrids?
  15. I'd rather the robot doll than the 3-6 month old babies that are usually trotted out for a birth.
  16. I replied before seeing this, but yes, I feel this exactly! They are definitely trolling!
  17. I'm 4 episodes behind and I decided last night to start catching up. 10 minutes in and I was done. I just couldn't with Max on this episode. I don't mind that he wants to do what's right, but he jumps head first into "solutions" without actually thinking them through first. Max has become a caricature. I'm not sure if the showrunners are actually trying to help spread the message about all these things, or if they are actually mocking the people who try to get change to happen, the activists, etc. Because making Max look stupid week after week can't be for nothing, right? I don't know if I will continue the rest of the season, but it's definitely on it's last legs for me.
  18. Unpopular opinion here, but I can't fault the adoptive parents for their decision. They knew what they could and couldn't handle, which was taking care of an extremely sick child, something which they didn't sign up for. I mean, isn't that kind of the "nice" thing about adoption, you get to be a little bit picky about the child(ren) you're going to adopt? They asked for a healthy child, didn't get one. Now I know, the little girl is not merchandise, return to the store for being defective. But, I think better for her to have a chance at being adopted (obviously it's going to be Jake and his husband) by a family who is more than willing to do what's right for her out of love, rather than obligation, which could turn to resentment. Frankly, I kind of find fault with the adoption agency here, they had to have known she was a very sick little girl. Granted, being truthful might have resulted in her not being adopted by anyone at all, but not reporting it, wouldn't that be considered fraud?
  19. I can just picture her on a 911 call, chastising (not in a bad way though, more in a tone of encouragement) to get someone to do what needed to be done), so I was a little disappointed to see her refuse any help, from anyone. I think she'd be the first one to tell others to never be ashamed to ask for it, or accept it. I'm glad too that she finally did, but gosh...
  20. Yeah, my thought as well. I feel like she's doing her best to sabotage their relationship. There's no telling what was going on while Luna was staying with them (Gwen and the FIL) in CT.
  21. I feel the same way. I don't mind social issues being addressed, but you do get burned out when it's one right after another. Space it out a little bit.
  22. Thank you. I was so sleepy at the time, I could have just looked it up on IMDb, but "whatshisface" seemed appropriate for my mood LOL. Exactly! Talk about unequity right there. I do too. He's been giving bad advice, etc for so long. I still get stuck on that episode with the couple that found out they were siblings and he kept pushing the woman to give it a go even though she was very uncomfortable with it. No, you're absolutely correct. Once again, I blame that on me trying to reply to a topic when I'm half-asleep.
  23. To pretty much echo everyone's sentiment, the whole episode was pretty much intolerable. The moment Max said he wanted to put a stop to systematic racism, I knew it wasn't going to go well. I mean yeah, kudos for wanting to do it, but clearly he didn't have the first clue where to start. Maybe instead of bouncing ideas around and running at the mouth, form a committee? I dunno. Who puts a Chief of anything into a windowless room with cubicles? Iggy has no business acting as a practicing psychologist. He's not in the right state of mind and he's been making poor decisions for a very long time. I mean I feel for the guy for some of the things he's going through, but when you can't admit that your young patient is a psychopath who will probably grow up to murder someone, maybe you need to step back. For the most part, I liked how Helen handled Max, but yeah the whole "let's break up with your boyfriend cause your niece is coming to town" was a bit much. Also, are they sure Dr. Reynold's mom was diagnosed with diabetes and not dementia? Because they sure are acting like she's incapable of doing anything without his help. I mean if that's the case, why not hire someone to stay with her while he works? For the most part, the show is still bearable to watch, but it's probably sliding downhill (for me). I gave up Grey's for their poor handling of Alex's exit, and The Resident is just one step away from me calling quits on it too (I'm apparently the one person in existence who isn't happy that they practically blew off Covid).
  24. ER is one show I never got around to watching. Yes, yes, total agreement about The Resident! We go to a clinic that's part of a teaching university, so patients are almost always usually seen first by a resident, but before an official diagnosis is presented or a prescription is given they have to consult with an attending first. I mean I don't know if that's common practice in all hospitals, but you would think it would be. But whatshisface (brain freeze on his name right now since the show is on hiatus) he just knows everything and has the power to do anything LOL.
  25. I felt bad for Izzy... I know what it feels like to have that self-loathing because you don't feel like you're good enough, because of your weight, because of other people's reaction to your weight. I knew Max sending off those opioids with the bike messengers was a really bad idea. What was to stop any of them from taking them and selling them on the streets? But I'm here for Ella. And I hadn't even thought about the passage of time with her pregnancy. I'm here for the epidural! Brings back very VERY painful memories of my own labor because I had the same thing happen to me. The epidural didn't take (it was the second of three epidurals that they gave me) and for 4 hours, it hurt so freaking bad the last thing I was able to do was have a meaningful, coherent conversation with anyone the way she was having with Helen. I was squeezing my husband's and MIL's hands so hard I'm surprised I didn't break them. Man, she got off easy. Personally it ruined me from ever wanting to go through another pregnancy again, and up until that point I had a good one. I know, it's a judgmentally thing to do, based on my own experience, but I almost kind of figured that with her OCD, that unexpected pain would be something she'd have a hard time dealing with. I know there were various things that irritated me last season, the lack of medical realism, etc., but I guess I'd just forgotten about it in the passage of time.
