  1. That is an interesting point. Simone posted on IG calling Jordan her best friend last week, so it seems to be reciprocated. However, I agree with the point about the seating order. I wonder if Simone and Mykayla were just in a different/ more intense headspace overall than the rest of the team? We know Simone had a rough week, and to me Mykayla seemed very stressed overall. I always remember that, sadly, their experiences in gymnastics will always be different than their younger teammates coming through the system now.
  2. I agree with you. After the way things turned out it’s easy to forget that Mykayla is included in the group that didn’t actually ‘make’ the final, and if I recall correctly this vlog was recorded before she knew that Simone had any issues and would have to withdraw (she explained that the vlogs were posted out of order due to a copyright issue). I also agree with this. I actually perceived in that comment that it was likely Mykayla herself as the one with tension with others, not Grace or Jordan. Throughout the vlog she talked about how she was so upset and how she was sobbing from disappointment, and that she worked so hard and couldn’t believe how things turned out with not making vault finals, etc. She also specifically mentioned Jade making finals over her. Again, this was recorded before she knew that she would sub in for Simone. There has been a lot of talk about her ‘deserving it’… then her husband also made his snarky remarks on social media. Maybe a bit of chip on her shoulder? On the other hand, Grace and Jordan seemed to be living their best lives in Tokyo! All of their press was adorable. I really hope they all had a positive experience overall. Same here. A lot of people come from crappy families. She seems to have a bright future and I wish her all the best.
  3. She shared the news on instagram a while back. I'm not sure about the rules for posting links on this forum so I can paste one of her responses below (in the comments after someone inquired about Marcel) mariah_harmony_ @dallboys123 marcel and I separated after 4 yrs. we realized we wanted different things. We are still hood friends, but happier not together and have both happily moved on 4w 55 likes Reply
  4. I was so sad to read that Mariah and Marcel are no longer together. Does anyone know if he will remain on the show? I really enjoyed seeing his special connection to dogs that were fearful or have special needs.
  5. I love this show so much! I could not believe how many times I held my breath as I waited for little Sophie to venture out beyond the fence. The giraffe birthing scenes were some of the coolest things I have ever seen on a show focused on animals and conservation. I think Robert is such an impressive young guy. I really love watching his segments and seeing how seriously he is taking his role. He was born for a job like this. I like how he and Bindi have settled into their lanes of interest and seem genuinely interested in everything about the zoo. I also love how passionate Terri is with ensuring the quality and scope of the zoo. As she often says, this zoo is a product of both her and Steve's dreams, and I am proud that she is taking ownership in her own terms and not only as part of Steve's legacy. She seems to be doing a fantastic job with both the kids and with the zoo. I also love how committed Wes is to the family. His scenes with Robert are so touching!
  6. So now there is a lawsuit between one of the original producers and WB over the revival?! Who knew little GG could cause so much drama!
  7. Do you guys think that these four episodes will truly be the "end" of GG? I find it hard to believe that Netflix, WB or the stars/writers/creators will shy away from all of the media attention and money that will result from the revival. I seriously see at least one GG related article published on a near daily basis, and most of them have robust comment sections and discussions. I frankly think the public interest has shocked the networks and Netflix. I can't imagine that the stars will all be able to dedicate several months a year to this project in the future, though. Maybe something like one "movie" episode per year to keep things going?
  8. Great post, and an important perspective that often isn't considered in discussion surrounding this case. I feel the same way about Fox News hiring Furhman, a known racist. To take it a step further, the fact that people aren't outraged that he was employed by the channel BECAUSE of his known racism is astounding. Furhman was not widely known prior to the case, so I cannot imagine any other reason for his employment. Instead of hearing complaints, Fox News continues to be #1 in ratings. This is the stark reality of the true feelings of many citizens in our nation, and yet another reason I am incredulous when people think you can somehow disregard race in today's society.
  9. I am way, way too excited about this! I can't believe that they all sucked it up, worked it out and made it happen! I only wish that they could have done this ages ago--now I wonder, what would the revival have been like if Sookie was present the entire time? Jackson was already signed so I imagine that there would have been a significant plot for her. Maybe they held off shooting Jackson's scenes until the end just in case they were able to get her? It would be great if they could shoot several scenes in one day so we can see her in all 4 installments. LMAO! As much as I love this show, agreed. We aren't curing cancer here! Poor, poor Liz. She really will be the only one left not invited to the party. I can't recall if TJ is signed or not?
  10. This makes sense. Several other careers have taken off (Lauren, Matt, Liza, etc) but they definitely all talk about Gilmore quite a bit and credit ASP with at least part of their success. Also, Melissa has surpassed all of their fame. If this is true I find it sad--ASP could have a hard time getting other stars to work with her in the future. If they know there is the risk of future alienation from a dramatic showrunner I can imagine that many may shy away from working with her.
  11. So Melissa McCarthy is definitely NOT doing a cameo or participating at all: "And now sadly, in an interview this week with Refinery 29, McCarthy has totally shut down any possibility of an appearance by Sookie in the series, saying: "It’s not. They didn’t ask. And once this came out, because people were starting to say, ‘Oh, you won't do it. You're too big and busy now.’ I was like, ‘No. No one invited me to the party. I didn't get a single call.’ And then after that, it was kind of, ‘Well, she'd like to do it, you guys can call us.’ I have to call and ask? And now I can’t make it happen. I thought it was the strangest thing. I am really proud of that show. I can’t wait for my kids to see it." http://moviepilot.com/posts/3847091 Ahhh, well. I was holding out hope. I can't believe that ASP never even reached out at all. I'm actually shocked.
  12. WHY?!? I was glad to be rid of him in the later seasons of the original run!
  13. This post is great, and it really gets at my struggle with the way this case has been discussed and analyzed over the last 20 years. So many people like to see this case as a clear cut, non-ambiguous situation...and maybe in a perfect world it should be, but I think that real life says that it will never be that simple. I think that's unfortunately the reality of living in America. No crime can ever be separated from the societal circumstances in which it was committed. You can't disentangle prejudice, celebrity, race, etc from this case because, just as the forensic evidence, they are facts of great influence and actually impact the deliberation process. These types of non-forensic facts are considered in every single case that goes through the criminal justice system, and many people of color, individuals with low financial means, and individuals with less education suffer the consequences of these non-forensic facts in cases every single day. Conversely, people in positions of power (whether race, education or financial wealth) benefit from this inequity in cases every single day. Back when the trial occurred, I remember many people discussing the fact that this acquittal didn't even begin to tip the scales towards equality in the midst of daily racial injustice in this country. Many people said that race shouldn't be considered and purport Cochran as a horrible person for bringing it up, but how could race not be considered when it actually WAS a factor in the case (although I don't like how it was exploited throughout the case)? So was OJ's celebrity. So was the fact that Nicole was his wife. So was the fact that they were an interracial couple. So was the domestic violence. On and on...they were all factors of influence that we automatically process as human beings. All of this (and so much more) influenced everyone involved and all who consumed the facts, whether on a conscious or unconscious level. When you factor in these societal circumstances and factors, I don't know how anyone can truly know what they "would" or "wouldn't" have done on this sequestered jury 20 years ago. I certainly can't. We are all influenced by these non-forensic factors as a part of the human condition. If we were embedded in LA during this period of time, how would we have experienced race and power differently? Not watch it on TV and give remote feelings, but actually live in the midst of the police corruption and racism every single day? I don't think the jury was irresponsible--I think they were human beings who did the best they could to struggle through many complicated forensic and societal factors to try to decide if reasonable doubt existed in this case. Fuhrman's involvement played a major part with this struggle. His testimony didn't just highlight what a disgusting human being that he was. It also highlighted a larger issue with the LAPD that struck deeply at the distrust so many African Americans felt at that time (and still feel today). I am an educated person who clearly knows the role of a jury, and even with my strong belief that OJ committed this crime I remember feeling highly suspicious of the honesty of Fuhrman and his LAPD colleagues to the point of not being sure that I could have deliberated towards a "guilty" verdict. If we want to blame someone for this acquittal, blame Furhman. His racism and lies were a huge grievous disservice to Ron and Nicole and made it incredibly difficult to know what to truly believe from the LAPD. If this TV show has done nothing else, it is facilitating an examination of power, race and wealth in the criminal justice system. It is a little baffling to me that many people I know have been more passionate and upset about this 20-year old crime than they are about the string of recent cases of police misconduct, but if a re-examination of this case can improve things for individuals that are currently suffering then I am glad for it. Also...I know people don't like members of the defense team, but I find it a bit unsettling to be glad that someone else suffered and died of cancer or anything else. I also think OJ was guilty, but that felt like a little lost humanity in this conversation. Just my two cents.
  14. Ah well, I guess we know what happened now. Too bad that the simple miscommunication may prevent really strong storylines from taking place. I'm also trying to avoid the revival spoilers thread, but this thread is beginning to feel a little lonely so I don't know how much longer I will last. We need to start a spoiler-free support group! :-)
  15. I am doing a re-watch, and I just watched 'Paris is Burning' in season 1. This might sound silly, but it really bothered me that Lorelai forced Rory to answer the door when Max came to pick her up. Rory pleaded and begged her not to have to see him, said she was uncomfortable, said they had a mom-daughter deal that she wouldn't be there when he arrived, said Lorelai was breaking the rules, etc, and Lorelai's response was to say, well, just this once because I'm not completely ready for the date. Seriously?! Why would a mom put her kid in that situation, especially over something as mortifying as dating her teacher?! I think this is the first time in the series that I can recall thinking that Lorelai was selfish. I don't know why it bothered me so much!
  16. Yanic has been posting lots of great pics of himself with fellow GG cast members on his instagram. His latest post is with Melissa at dinner, and people went insane because they assumed that they had come from set together. His caption on the picture was that people shouldn't read too much into things (he probably wrote that because the comments were full of people freaking out). I am beginning to think that Melissa will return to the revival, but that they may keep it under wraps strategically so the news doesn't conflict with her press for Ghostbusters and Boss. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
  17. Well...he is a bad guy. OJ's horrific, disgusting crime does not absolve Fuhrman from being a racist.
  18. Haha, that is far more mature than my response was going to be (something about how hot he is, lol). Maybe Lauren could convince him to make a cameo since she shares the Parenthood connection! Far-fetched, I know. On a positive note, a casting like that would make the show more diverse, and that is always a good thing. It would also add to the realism of Rory being exposed to more of the world and meeting different types of people outside of SH and Yale. It would be interesting if Rory met someone while traveling for her job who shares her worldly aspirations but also honestly appreciates her small town roots. I am doing a series re-watch, and I just watched the episode where Dean and Luke argue outside of the Twickam (sp?) house. I think that Dean was only half correct with his point that neither he nor Luke would ever be "enough" for Rory and Lorelai. I think that Lorelai and Luke have so much identity "as the town" that they are perfectly suited to run small businesses and truly be content in SH. However, I think that it is true that Rory wants more than a basic SH life from what we know of her character. I feel like Rory should end up with someone who will stretch her intellectually, challenge her and broaden her worldview (all things I think her character was written to want in her long-term partner). I don't think that any of the known boyfriends could do that AND also truly appreciate her devotion to SH. I think that Dean was written down as the series went on, Jess is doing well with his new life in Philidelphia and Logan dealt with SH because he had to but perhaps would never chose that life otherwise. I am becoming more and more interested to see ASP's vision for Rory's partner in the new episodes.
  19. I listened to an interview that Lauren did on the Nerdist podcast, and she said that when she saw Bridesmaids she actually felt a little sad because only then did she truly realize that MM had never been able to show her true talent on GG (or something like that). After hearing her comments, I wondered if MM would view the revival as regressing back to a place where she wasn't artistically happy. However, after her tweet yesterday I just don't know what to think!
  20. If you read Scott Patterson's interview (linked a page or two back), he finally admitted that he said that "something was in the works" when asked about the revival early last year to stir things up and get things moving along. Actual interview text: "IBT: That’s amazing! You were the first one to speak about a potential revival and I was curious if Amy gave you a hard time for spilling that secret. Patterson: Here’s the thing … I did a podcast and I was jut responding to a question that I always get and since the show has ended I always get these questions about a reboot. I always heard something, I heard there was something afoot, there’s always some rumor going around. And then I went and shot off my big mouth during a podcast. It was just sort of an innocent statement that I made. But everything grew from [the podcast] — it went viral! It caught us all by surprise over here. That just goes to show how rapidly the fans want a reboot. IBT: I was wondering if that comment had anything to do with Netflix and Warner Brothers pushing the reboot. Patterson: I was actually kind of sick of hearing about rumors. And I was like, “It’s time. Let’s go!” So I think I tried to move the ball forward a little bit. IBT: It sounds to me like you spearheaded the “Gilmore Girls” reboot. You are the champion of your fans! Patterson: You know, they were the champions of the show. So I tried to start a little fire and it ignited into this whole thing." Perhaps ASP really was dragging her feet and SP finally took matters into his own hands? Kind of ballsy if this is true!
  21. To add one more: Would Like to Return, But No Confirmation: Jackson, via the Gilmore Guys podcast. Now with all of the Sookie drama I wonder if he will be a sad omission by necessity? Also... Any word on Taylor, Babette, Miss Patty or Morey? I hate to say it, but this is what I am wondering as well. I watched an interview Melissa did during promotion for "Spy" that was just before the ATX festival. She said something like, "oh yes, I heard that they are doing a reunion...good for them" when she was asked directly about Gilmore Girls. Very detached. She had a very neutral tone and at the time I assumed it was because she really wanted to focus on Spy and not distract the interview with GG discussion. Now I wonder if there was a deeper issue. Dang it, do not bring drama to my happy, stress-free show!!! Can you imagine if twitter was around when ASP was booted before Season 7? Yikes.
  22. Amy Sherman-Palladino interview These interviews are making me so excited! I also just saw that Michel is returning (via Yanic's instagram)!
  23. I just had a thought for a possible plot line in the revival: I wonder if Emily will move in with Lorelai to cope with the loss of Richard? I could imagine a plot line of her temporarily living in Stars Hollow in the immediate aftermath of Richard's death. That would definitely be a way to bring everyone together and get some interaction between the townies and Emily.
  24. I'm just starting to watch this show on Amazon Prime (and have no one to discuss it with), so I'm stopping here to say that Kim Bauer is THE WORST. IN EVERY WAY. That's all.
  25. As an update to this, I just read that Milo posted on his facebook page that he told Amy and Dan that he would do the reboot. He said that he got an email about it from the show's producers and told them at that point that he was in. I don't know if he has actually signed on the dotted line or if it was a more informal commitment, but I am guessing that either way he will be on board. ETA: I just watched an interview he did at Wizard World Comic Con and he said he will likely know for sure by January or so.
