It is in fact a common side effect of lip augmentation although they aren't sure why it would be. Does Rinna get her lips injected still? I thought she had implants done years ago which is why they look so awful. https://www.allure.com/story/can-lip-injections-make-lips-dry -

In a six degree of separation moment, it turns out that my BFF's good friend is currently selling her home on Linda Flora Drive which is located a few houses down from the home on Linda Flora which is one of the homes on this week's episode. It is being listed by Tracy in another six degrees moment. When I checked out the listing David Parents and James Harris are listed as part of Tracy's team. I thought this was rather odd because I thought agents working on a "team" were somewhat lower in status than the "team leader" and I had assumed David and James were of equal or higher status as brokers. Homes in those high locations really are not very convenient to actually live in because it is such a drive up and down. Also I am more of a fan of city views from the hills rather than views into the canyons although I guess that is personal taste as my home does have views which encompass both the Hollywood Hills to the north and downtown LA to the south. I love looking at real estate porn and noticed that our hard working tax dollars helped pay for the recent purchase of a $20.9 million home in the hills by the son of the former Afghanistan defense minister. What makes the whole thing even sadder is that the home replaced a beautiful classic mid century modern home that was one of several homes owned by Sally Hershberger - the celebrity hair stylist with the $1000 cuts. One of her claims to fame was her cut for Meg Ryan. That was a $.6.5 million tear down but it did have absolutely fantastic views. Unlike the "mid century modern" that Flagg repped a few episodes ago, this one really was in the iconic style and located in Trousdale Estates. I didn't find Flagg's listing to be particularly attractive and I am generally a fan of preserving older homes if possible. As far as I am concerned, Trousdale should be declared historically significant. A few seasons ago, either Altmann or Flagg repped a mid century modern home in Trousdale that had been lovingly restored by a couple. I think it was Flagg because I seem to recall his taking the stage on a roof to play with a band as part of the shtick for the brokers' open. https://www.dirt.com/gallery/more-dirt/politicians/daoud-wardak-house-beverly-hills-1203428821/ https://www.1stdibs.com/introspective-magazine/trousdale-estates/- 2.2k replies

I assume that you are being sarcastic but houses of this size are generally built on the assumption that they will be fully staffed 24/7. The laundry room is central because the help will collect the laundry and then it will be put back when clean and the beds will be made as often as once a day and the bathrooms will be fully stocked with towels. Kitchens - at least the main kitchens are built to accommodate caterers so that they are often not particularly easy to use as if one is cooking a meal for one's family having a kitchen with enormous distances between the work triangle isn't particularly desirable. -

It wasn't that she looked old as there are many older actresses who have aged gracefully. Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep are about the same age and don't look freakish. Suzanne Somers looks freakish - all of what is wrong about the Los Angeles plastic surgery aesthetic in one horrible face. -
My pet peeve is "loose" and "lose" because I conjure up images of bowel movements. 🤣 I visit the Herman Cain Memorial Award forum on Reddit to satisfy my black heart and there are a number of people who write that their loved ones in the ICU have been "incubated". They also post about stats instead of sats 🤣

The apple didn’t fall far from the tree as it would be hard to have picked a less flattering outfit than her mother’s pink jumpsuit. Her mother was not fat amd when standing it looked as if she had a barrel in the middle amd when sitting she was popping out of the buttons. 🤷♀️- 2.2k replies

S11.E20: New Year, Old Grudges

I am sure this location was chosen because of the ambience and production would have made the arrangements. Since it was filmed during the pandemic there was no indoor dining in Los Angeles and the restaurant would have been thrilled to get the location fees I am sure they brought in a Chinese catering crew and the food was delicious. I don’t think Crystal was trying to provide an Asian experience as Chinese Mew Year and the dragon and the traditions are very specific to China and not Japan or Korea nor was it any kind of fusion event except for the desserts because with the exception of egg tarts, I am not fond of Chinese pastries. The Japanese on the other hand have fabulous pastries which are French. They are very authentic as I worked near the Japanese center in Los Angeles for awhile and they had a few of the Japanese bakeries who were branches of Japanese bakeries. The other very authentic Japanese fusion is their take on curry and spaghetti. To analogize, it is their equivalent of Chinese American cuisine and it is quite delicious as long as you accept it for what it is and don’t expect either Indian or Italian versions. There was a place called Hurry Curry on Sawtelle that had fabulous versions. I just thought it was ironic that a Japanese venue was selected. -

That scene in the jewelry story and the confessional was wicked on the part of the Bravo editors. Based on her knowledge of proprietary only half jokingly offered her a job and the producer asked her where she managed to pick up such extensive knowledge. 😂😂🤫🤫🤫 -

David and James were raised as essentially brothers. As I recall during the initial season their back story was revealed and their mothers were best friends and so they were best friends from their early childhood. In my experience, these kinds of relationships are often more of a family than one's biological family.- 2.2k replies

That is a major shady construction company. They were successfully sued for fraud by Los Angeles for financial stuff building the subway. They were also sued by San Francisco (successfully) for financial fraud in connection with a major municipal construction project. I am sure there are a myriad of other projects where they cut corners and billed inappropriately that didn't make major headlines. ETA - These were major settlements - I think they were each about $25 million which means there was a lot of financial mischief and crooked billing going on -

It isn't particularly hot in the winter when most people are there. It's pretty perfect weather. It is like Indian summer with warm days and cooler nights - but not frigid. It is pretty classic low desert climate. Los Angeles - at least on the west side is Mediterranean climate. The Valley tends to be more desert climate. But in the summer in Palm Springs, as I posted, the heat is intolerable and even driving in a car is an ordeal unless you park in a covered spot because the cars get so hot. But it is an ideal getaway spot in the winter for people in Los Angeles although it isn't really what most people would consider to be a destination vacation. There is a very sizable show and polo community there in the winter as well. -

There are people who live in Arizona or other climates that are intolerable in the summer. Obviously there are some people who live there year round but they generally avoid the day time when possible so scurry out in the early morning to run errands. But affluent people don’t go to Palms Springs in the summer because anything outdoors is impossible. Even middle class people try to get out of desert areas in the summer. My parents retired to a middle class development in Laguna Hills and there would be snowbirds from cold climates in the winter and sun birds who lived in the hot desert who would come there for the summer months. My parents being rational opted for that location because the climate was great all year. Only people seeking a super cheap vacation would go there in the summer. -

Not to beat a dead horse, but no one would actually go to Palm Springs in the summer. People go there in the winter when the weather is ideal. At night sometimes it would get cold enough so that the morning dew would get crunchy but generally it was warm enough to even swim in a pool if one wanted to. And the desert landscape is beautiful in its own ways - especially in the winter when it's the perfect weather for hiking. I did a memorable horseback ride into the actual site of the "springs" which give Palm Springs it's name. -

I live in Los Angeles so this is coming from a native point of view. I don't know if I would travel there as a super destination if I had to fly. People do fly in for the major gay events but that is different than people owning a second home to use on a frequent basis. However, Palm Springs is about 1 1/2 drive from Los Angeles which means that it is extremely convenient to go there for a weekend so it makes the perfect weekend home. It is the difference between owning a home on the Jersey Shore or the Catskills which are easy drives from NYC versus having to fly somewhere. I never owned a home in Palm Springs but I went there on a fairly regular basis for the weekend. Sometimes I would just leave very early on Saturday morning and beat any kind of Friday traffic but still be there in time for breakfast and a morning walk in the mountains. The climate is absolutely divine in the winter which is when most people actually go there just as most people don't go to the Jersey Shore or the Hamptons in the winter. I am not sure what your standards are for restaurants because unless you dine exclusively in Michelin four or five star places, there are restaurants that are equivalent or better than most restaurants people regularly dine at- 2.2k replies

Million Dollar Listing LA - General Discussion
amarante replied to Aethera's topic in Million Dollar Listing LA
The issue of class and privilege and economic privilege is obviously one that literally whole books have been written about. Almost all people in the USA have traditionally identified themselves as middle class - which is a whole gamut of salary and wealth. And then actual jobs also play a part in delineating class. There are some "blue collar" workers - especially those who work in traditionally heavily unionize industries like auto that make salaries (especially when benefits and retirement are figured in) that make much more than people who people would identify clearly as being solid white collar middle class people. And there are PHD's who are definitely upper class in terms of learning who make paltry salaries and hobble together scanty livings as adjunct lecturers at community colleges. Altmann and his brother have tremendous privilege just because they are white males and they were raised in an affluent home in which they would have received every kind of special help they needed. And yet, even given all that, they weren't privileged intellectually as both of them went to fairly mediocre easy to get into colleges and would probably not have been able to get into either med school or a first rate law school. And they would have tremendous advantages in terms of being hired by alpha male bosses. Study after study has shown that people tend to hire people like themselves with whom they can identify. I am not sure if Mauricio hired Altmann at the beginning but the point is that any hustling white male is going to have an advantage over a woman or a person of color for many jobs just because there is bias even if it is unconscious. Hell I hired one secretary on the spot because she was from Brooklyn and had the Brooklyn accent which reminded me of my roots - extra points because she was a Parochial school graduate and I knew that she would have impeccable spelling and grammar 😂 FWIW I am not Italian working class nor - I am the proverbial nice Jewish girl from New York City but she was still within the tribe that made me feel comfortable. And both of them were able to start out in professions that don't pay well in the beginning. Altman's brother started out in a talent agency and those jobs are notoriously low paid. There have been exposes revealing that the wage scale is so low that most of the kids hired need to have parents subsidizing them because it would be impossible for anyone to live on the salaries. The same is true of other prestige type of jobs - magazines (Vogue especially); arts are now pretty much only feasible for kids who come from at least upper middle class families. And that isn't even factoring in nepotism because I don't think that was a factor with the Altman's. When I wrote that I wasn't clear about Bobby's parents, I meant that it wasn't clear whether his parents were just middle class or whether they were truly blue collar or working class. I lean towards being middle class because a home in Palm Springs would be a feasible retirement option for the middle class - especially a decade ago before Palm Springs exploded in terms of pricing. I also thought Flagg was reflecting his emotional obtuseness by not understanding why Bobby felt buying that home was emotionally important. I didn't even understand why Flagg thought the pricing and value was of any real significance. He probably "wastes" significant amounts of money just enjoying the benefits of his incredible wealth. Realistically, $3 million to Flagg would be analogous to a middle class person pondering $10,000 to take a dream vacation. -

Altman's father practiced medicine in Boston and also taught there. It is definitely a privileged background and if the Altmann brothers remained in Boston, I am sure they would have had clients from their parents friends - but that is upper middle class and not really wealthy. They both were extremely driven and obviously very smart. When they moved to Los Angeles, they probably had some form of subsidy so they didn't have to worry about living in their car. But their parents weren't setting them up with an affluent lifestyle. In the early seasons, Altmann had a relatively modest home. I know both kinds of kids - real trust fund babies like Flagg and those kids who grew up in an affluent home where the parents earned a good salary. I realize Altmann might seem privileged to someone grew up in a working class home but Altmann did not have anything "handed" to him. I realize it is a nuance because obviously he had tremendous privileges in growing up in an upper middle class family where he went to a good public school and then on to college with all expenses paid. My friend is a trust fund baby and was able to "buy" a $3 million home in the hills. She paid cash and doesn’t work although she has a legal degree. My friends whose parents are merely affluent like Altmann's parents don't have that kind of financial largesse and so although they were lucky enough to get a good education and minimal student debt, their life style is only what they can earn. Altmann is a hustler and he had to hustle to get where he is. Flagg is also a bit of a hustler but I am not sure that Flagg would have gotten to where he is without having the tremendous wealth that enabled him to start selling high end real estate when he was 19. I am not sure what Bobby's (Flagg's husband) background was in terms of wealth but clearly not as privileged as Flagg because most people aren't. -

As I stated, the father is an high salary professional - he was a doctor and there is a huge difference between that and the kind of wealth that Flagg was raised with. They are affluent but not obscenely wealthy and Altmann wouldn't have had the kind of trust fund and connections that someone like Flagg had. In the first season, Flagg was quite open that his first clients were friends of his parents and grandmother. Flagg (and perhaps Tracey) could never work and still have the same lifestyle they have now. Flagg is a trust fund baby and Altmann isn't. Josh went to public school and Syracuse University - privileged as I am sure his tuition and costs were paid but not unlike the lifestyle of many kids who live in affluent suburbs. Altmann didn't have the same kind of financial struggles that kids with less affluent parents have like student loans but his current lifestyle is due to his own efforts as he isn't living even partially off money that was inherited like Flagg or other really affluent people. -

The British guys don't come from significant wealth. They weren't impoverished but at best they were normal middle class. I believe one of them was raised by a single mother. Altman's parents aren't super wealthy either. I think the father is a professional but there is a difference between being a high salary professional and having the kind of wealth that Flagg's family have. Flagg has trust funds from both the maternal and paternal sides. -
I am probably obtuse and don't clearly remember the last episode but what would have happened if Sullivan hadn't attempted to claim the Station Would things have remained as they were with no repercussions - not defending his actions but it seems like it was inevitable and did I miss why the new guy was installed?

This still captures exactly how awful Erika's makeup. If you can see exactly where the contour and the highlight was applied through a murky still, can you imagine what it looks like in real life. And are those lips a thing? Not even the eye shadow is applied well. And of course there is no fixing the sour expression on her "puss face" - pat the puss indeed. Sutton might not be aiming for the same level of faux glamour but she actually looks like a normal female and not someone trying out for a drag contest. -

Whether Erika is paying them or not, it is a terrible tone deaf thing to do. None of the other women need a makeup artist as they are shown doing their own hair and makeup. Don't plead poverty and how terrible your existence is and what a fate has befallen you while sitting in a chair being tended to by your personal assistant and stylist and discussing what plastic surgery you might get next. Erika, Sutton, Kyle and Crystal who actually have money and aren't complaining about their victimhood didn't bring anyone to make them up. Also, if that stylist is doing it for exposure, I am not sure how it helps since the professional makeup job on Erika looked ghastly - the non-professional hair and makeup was 1000% better. And iterating what other posters have said, BRAVO does not pay for hair or makeup except for the reunion and talking heads.
