  1. I really liked the Emmy stage this year. It was eye catching without being distracting.
  2. I think they let him because they are actually under a couple of minutes
  3. Awesome that Dennis Franz is presenting and good job ABC for having this come in on time.
  4. I believe the singer was Ellie Goulding. Gene Wilder was included because he guest starred on Will & Grace Even won an Emmy for it. Anton Yelchin was on the TV series Huff. I was wrong. It was Tori Kelly.
  5. I think that puts Thomas Kail an Oscar away from an EGOT although I am not sure he won a Grammy with "Hamilton" as QwestLove produced that cast album,
  6. Taj was a teenager (I think even a high schooler) when he did that and teenagers can be self absorbed shallow creatures which is why I don't think he came off as badly as Big Sean and Mark.
  7. Caracas, that is what stood out to me too. She addressed the incident at the end of season 5 but I also felt like something had to have happened when they first closed down the McKinley narrative. All signs pointed to Santana and Brittany going to New York and then suddenly we got the rushed they are traveling and Amber/Mercedes was slotted in for those episodes. IIRC back then Mercedes was only slated for 1 or 2 of the NY episodes and then suddenly she was in and Naya/Santana was out. As for Cory she contradicted herself a bit. She said he was "completely sober" through season 3 but she also talked about him taking his first drink in front of all of them at the end of season 2 (my guess is while they were in NYC filming). She must have meant completely sober as in not doing drugs or ever visibly drunk. Still what she said fit in with what I always thought happened. He started off with the occasional drink and eventually that led back to hard drugs in season 4. I have always said the Christmas episode that year was the last episode he looked even somewhat healthy to me. As far as who comes out the worst in this book - no doubt about it Big Sean and Mark. I would actually say Mark comes across worse but that is probably because I always thought he came across as a skeeze both in playing Puck and off screen.
  8. Totally agree this show was falling apart before Cory passed. I also think, though, that the producers scapegoating their incompetence on Cory's passing and RM flat out lying that the McKinley narrative was all about a story for Finn most likely added to the tensions. From all accounts, both before and after his death, Cory got along with most everybody on the set. The lone exception seemed to be Ryan Murphy and that showed up all the way back in season 2 with the way they introduced Sam - as blonder and better Finn. They backed off of that by the second half of season 2. I will always wonder what caused that tension as supposedly Cory leading the cast to say no more tours happened at the end of season 2. My guess is Cory was one of the earliest cast members to bristle against RM's controlling tendencies and that happened as early as the first tour. Edited to add - without the vests and without ever leaving McKinley despite Finn wanting to prove to himself beyond his high school walls was a huge part of his story in the first 3 seasons.
  9. On what basis could Lochte sue Al Rocker and compel him to go to court? Lochte lied. That the Brazilian authorities may have lied to (and I think they did about the bathroom vandalism) doesn't change that Lochte lied. This isn't a zero sum game. Both parties could have and probably did lie.
  10. I would disagree that the hockey players are just as popular worldwide. A few here and there (Gretsky to name one) but on the whole, it isn't even close. Like that article linked to said, they get mobbed.
  11. I would imagine it would be a security issue for some of the athletes who are world famous to take up residence in the village. Not just in Rio but really in any Olympics.
  12. So far I have actually enjoyed this opening ceremony more than spectacles in both London and Beijing. I think the simplicity is more in line with the Olympic spirit.
  13. I don't think the American team is being obnoxious. It seems like an exuberant atmosphere in the stadium and I am sure there are other teams cheering, chanting, etc for their team. I do agree that while i get why NBC's coverage is American team heavy they don't need to flash to the team quite so often
  14. I get why NBC's coverage is American centric. They are playing to an American audience. I would guess that the Japanese coverage is Japenese centric.
  15. I also think it is cool that the USA not only has the most female athletes there but also a higher percentage of women than men,
  16. Except for the Ralph Lauren logo I really like the team USA uniforms. I think the white pants with the striped shirt and blue blazer are the right look for these Olympics which are a bit more a casual.
  17. Congrats to Jenna. Amber previewed "I am Changing" from Dreamgirls for playbill. She sounds amazing I am Changing
  18. I wonder how long it will take for "Here Comes the General" to stop going through my head every time Christopher Jackson's character walks into a scene.
  19. So basically all that time they spent trying out the new characters was for naught. I just wish we had the time we wasted on them in the last episode to focus more on Tony's exit.
  20. That is not what annoys me as I always thought they slept together during that summer Gibbs was gone. What annoys me is that yet again Ziva screwed Tony over and yet again everyone, including Tony, is okay with it because it is Ziva. I still don't know what she has done to earn such loyalty from the team and especially Tony. And it annoys me even more that they used Abby as the exposition queen to try and paper over the fact that Ziva screwed Tony over. If the show wanted me to believe Ziva loved Tony they shouldn't have written her the way they did for most of her run on the show and they especially shouldn't have written Ziva keeping his child from him. And no her telling Orli she intended to tell Tony does not count. He deserved to know from day 1. As for why Tony left as I said above I am happy he decided to take his own path instead of becoming a Gibbs clone. He has needed to do that for a long while. Exactly. Ziva needing a man is beside the point because Ziva and her daughter were not a package deal. Tony could be a father to Tali without being in a romance with Ziva. Millions of parents do it every day.
  21. Ziva using sex to control men doesn't even rank to me when it comes to her bad qualities. I would say accusing Tony of murder in an official report, attacking him when he was already injured, and joining the team under false pretenses and still being welcomed back with open despite all of that are all much more problematic and those would be problematic whether she was a woman or a man. That said I agree there is a better way to criticize her than using gender laden insults.
  22. Congratulations to Becca! I am glad she found happiness again after the passing of Matt Bendik, her boyfriend of 2 or 3 years, in 2014.
  23. Ziva telling Abby she loved Tony is canon but since her definition of love included not telling him he had a child for "reasons" I would argue that she didn't love him at all and/or her definition of love is truly twisted beyond recognition. Twisted because love include respect and Ziva died showing she didn't respect Tony. To me that means there is still debate about whether she truly loved him by any sort of reasonable definition of love. I also am bugged by the idea that he needed to grow to become a father while Ziva was ready for motherhood from day 1. After all when confronted with the choice to go off on his own and take Kort out he made the right choice unlike Ziva who did exactly that to avenge her father's death. And in the process took down the entire MCRT with her. The Mossad director had barely had any contact with Ziva. I can buy that Ziva might have mentioned in passing she was contemplating it but those are just words. The fact remains that Ziva decided Tony wasn't ready to be a father while she was ready to be a mother. At least Glasburg kept her in character to the end. She always did think she was better than Tony despite all evidence to the contrary. As for Ziva not disrupting Tony's life, as much as I never wanted then to have a romancm he deserved to know he had a child.
  24. I thought of something I liked about this episode - that Tony decided to follow his own path instead of becoming a Gibbs clone. I think that conversation with Palmer was the key moment of the episode. It made Tony realize that, as much as he admires Gibbs, he doesn't want to be Gibbs and that Gibbs's life not something he should aspire to. That in turn informed how he dealt with Kort. Unlike both Gibbs and Ziva Tony didn't go on a revenge solo mission (and I like that McGee trusted that he wouldn't when he called him up). Instead he went there to confront Kort but not necessarily kill him. It was only when Kort started to pull his own gun that Tony shot him. In my mind, his decision to not go the revenge route makes him both a better person and a better agent than Gibbs. Still Tony finally breaking free of Gibbs isn't enough to counteract my utter disgust at how Ziva treated him until the very end and worse yet that he ended up seeing it as acceptable.
