  1. We were catching some zzz’s, cardigirl! That was quite an opening scene. Craa-a-ack! And Claire's gone. I thought "That's a short season!" 😆 I was surprised Claire was released by the end of the episode. They usually drag it on for half the season. I guess they have so much packed into this season, they have to speed things up. Hope it doesn’t end up being too rushed. The “nailbiting” ending 🙄, will Jamie kill Brown or won’t he. Of course he won’t. He’s too honorable. Wish he would, it would be more realistic and impactful.
  2. It’s a paycheck. We’ve all had to work at jobs we didn’t like at some point, to pay the bills. They were probably all thinking “The things I have to do for a little food and warmth.” 😀
  3. I am too. I just took advantage of a 6-month special offer from Starz just for the show, now I’m going to waste half of it! 😠
  4. Agree it was very moving and hard to watch knowing the outcome. You don’t need any accents. It’s the acting that matters. I actually find the accents take away from the performances sometimes because the actors are concentrating on it too much. It’s silly to use them anyway. Why not just let the actors use their natural accents? It’s not as if the characters would be speaking to each other in English with foreign accents. 🤣 They’d be speaking German or Dutch. They’re only speaking English onscreen for our benefit, so just use their natural accents and we can use our imagination that they’re speaking the foreign languages.
  5. The dialogue is awful. Feels as if it’s written by 12-year-olds.
  6. I wonder where she’ll change into her costume. Phone booths are rare these days.
  7. It’s going to be a small country by the time its borders are revealed.
  8. Of course it wasn’t. But as the OP said, Serena thought it was a good idea. People often do think one way until they step into another’s shoes. Then their viewpoint usually changes. I do hope people upthread are right and that Serena is eventually forced to become a handmaid. Let’s see how good an idea she finds the handmaid solution then.
  9. You’ll never be allowed to play with the big boys, Serena. Putnam is so vile. Now we know why Mrs. Putnam is always walking around with a pinched face. But how in Heavens did Janine ever fall in love with him?! Stockholm Syndrome, I guess. (If I’m remembering correctly, he was her first posting and she believed he loved her too, and that they’d run away together with their baby. Until she realized none of it was true and decided to try jump off a bridge. Or was that another Commander?)
  10. It’s too bad that Esther is in a coma, she was interesting. But I guess McKenna Grace was busy filming another series, A Friend of the Family, which comes out on Thursday and looks good. But they haven’t killed Esther off so maybe she’ll wake up yet and we’ll see more of her before the show ends.
  11. I wanted to give you both a laugh and a clapping smiley. 😄 I don’t know why they focus on the face expressions. They’ve done it with others too, though mostly with June. I actually liked the ptsd parts in this episode, they were interesting. I wish they’d focus more on scenes like that.
  12. At least they haven’t had Moss narrating!
  13. People generally tend to romanticize things. They’re seeing the positives and none of the negatives. A few months of being a handmaid would put them straight.
  14. I liked that too. It was more realistic and definitely more interesting. I grimaced when she got the letter from Serena though. I knew she’d be back to revolutionary mood after that. And how dense is Serena? Does she want to get herself killed? She must see how unhinged June is at the moment and is purposely taunting her. The superhero June writing was my least favourite (okay, most hated) thing. But this June vs. Serena, constant battling is growing tiresome. We need a new set of writers. Heck, I’d nominate a few Primetimer members here whose ideas have been 10 times better!
  15. My reaction wasn’t as complimentary. 😉 I actually put my hands out and looked around the room. It’s like someone was taunting me. I had to look at the clock to make sure. Who even needs a clock, Just go by the zooming in to June’s mug.
  16. It’s all just our opinions here, that’s what discussion is. This is a discussion board after all, not a fan site.
  17. Nope, no option. How is there an option when we still want to watch the others’ stories (which they ARE also showing)? So we watch. I suppose we can always close our eyes when June’s scenes come up. They always care about losing viewership. It’s the whole name of the game. No viewers, no show. Even if they know it’s ending, their reputation will follow them to new projects.
  18. My point was that when I said “it’s all about June” in my post, I was referring to her being selfish again. My post had nothing to do with whether the show was about her. I was just clarifying that. And doing so again. 😄
  19. Ooh, yes! This is why I stick around, hoping for something like this. The show really needs it to retain its viewers.
  20. You can only tell the same story for so long. If they’re going to go past the original material, they have to develop more interesting storylines. I agree with iMonrey, they keep rehashing the same thing, over and over.
  21. “I thought you’d be taller.” Grooooan, how old is that line? Who writes this drivel? I’m sure they thought they were being so clever. All to make June more of a legend. “We’d hoped when Ms. Osborn was in Toronto, things would finally settle down.” So did we all, Commander, so did we all. But nope, it’s still all about June. I hope she gets Hannah back already so we can move on and focus on someone else, someone more interesting (wouldn’t be a very difficult feat). And does every episode have to end with her sour face? Whenever there is less than half a minute left, you know the camera is going to start zooming in on her. The camera person must be rolling his eyes each week. Oh but it did. Twice. You must be becoming immune to it by now. 😆
  22. That would be poetic justice. The Putnam’s handmaid would be perfect.
  23. “Directed by Elizabeth Mioss”. No kidding. Of course it had to end with a closeup of her mug with the usual grimacing. I have no more interest in June’s story. It’s time to retire the character and let other handmaids shine. Unfortunately Emily is gone, but I’m interested to see what happens with Esther. She’s not your typical handmaid, given her backstory. I was thinking she’s a loose cannon just waiting to go off, just before her poisoning the chocolate. But I hope she survives. She’d make a better rebel and leader in the end than June. If the writers don’t screw up the character like they did June. Count me in! The “fuck you” from Serena was a master plan. She is deliciously evil. Pretty sad when a show starts you rooting for the villain. 😆
  24. The backtracking is ridiculous. Alexis Bloedel decides to leave so they have Emily go back to Gilead? She would never do that! Not after what she went through to get out of there and being relieved to be out. And she wouldn’t leave her family. Not Emily. Incredibly pathetic writing. They should have just kept her out of the picture for now. Even having her kill herself would be more understandable. I guess it at least leaves the door open for her to return if this drudgery of a series keeps going.
  25. Or at least mix up some herbs and flowers to equal Miss Clairol Platinum Blonde 000 to dab onto the stubble. I thought it was okay, nothing outstanding. We’ll see how it comes along. I’m in it at least for Matt Smith. He can elevate any show. I hope it gets better. Agree about the visuals. It looked muted.
