  1. I really like Drea too, and it is hilarious when she does this. I also find it funny how people have loud conversations around Eden when she's sleeping and they talk about anything and everything in front of her as if she comprehends nothing. I was watching one episode a day for Episode 1-5, but yesterday, I ended up binging 3 episodes. Part of that is I didn't have to go to work, but this latter half of this season also feels more suspenseful.
  2. I've been watching the latest season of "Manifest", and it still strikes me how much screentime he has on that show, compared to "Once".
  3. There were even more characters from the past, which was nice. Even though I don't remember some of the one-off passengers from Season 1, this would make this show a more enjoyable one for people to binge in the future, since you would have seen them more recently. Can't believe they got TJ back. I'm not sure why he was written off in the first place. Did the actor want to leave? Whether I remembered them or not, it was still nice to see Ben reconnect with the music guy. Of course the Callings are still jerks. Are we to believe they got Cal sick again so he would have a medical reason to avoid that DNA sample? How about sending a Calling that leads straight to where Angelina's mom was keeping Adrian prisoner, like most of the Callings this season. Speaking of which, why not give the Calling to Michaela instead of the self-serving Eagen. And no Callings to save Violet, Anna or that first guy? His selfishness (and Olive and Saanvi being careless with info around him) was annoying, but I have to admit Eagen's lines were pretty funny, especially how he was so concerned that Angelina's mom would come after him for sorta helping Angelina. He's lucky she didn't stab him in the car when she gave him a ride after demanding money. They knew the cops were coming at the beginning, and Ben was still running up and down the stairs packing? Get outta there and get supplies afterwards, dummy. Cal could also have made the medical excuse himself when he was in custody. Drea acted all sneaky going up to speak to Ben when she was in plain view of the entire office. Not to mention sitting at someone else's computer wasn't suspicious at all. And suuuuuure, emptying the recycle bin wouldn't leave a trace on a police computer. Dr. Gupta was actually helpful. Who would have thought. How did the Major know so much, anyway? Meanwhile, Angelina was still evil as ever. Adrian better have learned his lesson this time. Well, it seems like Ben likes his children most when they are in mortal danger. It was nice he finally apologized to Cal.
  4. I liked this episode. It seems like momentum is building back up. I was a bit wary at the start of the episode with all the secrets and lies. I appreciate that the show is making use of its final season to bring back old characters and connect things back to previous seasons. The Saanvi flashbacks worked better than Jared's last week. I don't know if she had more of them, or they were just meatier than Jared's. Did Zeke know Alex, Saanvi's ex? Anyway, it was a nice way to use someone from the past. I was happy that Zeke recognized he could not take the pills and he went to AA. Poor Cal. His dad rejects him, he might be dying of cancer and he has a nice first date and then she's murdered. I was happy she was saved at the compound, so it's sad that she was killed off. So Angelina had multiple 828-ers helping her. But Violet didn't know she was Angelina? The first guy helping her made sense since he was apparently too kind and helped anyone. Up until this episode, I totally forgot that Cal had cancer in Season 1. Why did Eden suddenly accept Ben as her dad? She was way too young when she was kidnapped to remember, wasn't she? It was kind of cute when she put the nametag on the stuffed animal, though. I'm glad Ben is finally back on Team Callings. The scene in the hospital with Marco was good. So I am assuming that Angelina didn't fall from far the tree and mommy dearest is killing anyone who helped Angelina? Michaela should never have rescued the psycho back in the Season 3 premiere.
  5. I hope they aren't going to try to use Angelina's waterworks to make us feel sorry for her. I guess it isn't going to smooth sailing with Ben and Cal. Ben really went down on him hard. Get rid of the rest of the scruff and the horrible hair, please, or you won't earn your daughter's love. With Ben on his road to normalcy, I guess it's time for Zeke to lose a few brain cells and think it was a good idea to use his powers at work, and then promptly falling off the wagon. With Eden found, I suppose it was time for a mid-season murder mystery. It's too bad they had to kill off that nice passenger we never met. Even though Anna shouldn't have helped Angelina, I was still a little sad to see her go. The Jared flashbacks felt a little out of place in this one. Since when was he such a boy scout? He can't help the 828-ers if he loses his badge, so why not let Vance play with the evidence? Vance is still awesome, at least. That Registry lady was truly despicable. Hopefully, the Callings will take out its anger on her soon. This season's drinking phrase is "divine consciousness", then? Need to go shopping for some sapphire now.
  6. Agreed. She said she was "manipulated" by Angelina and believed all her lies about Eden's parents, but didn't she watch the news? She fell for Angelina's lies for 2 years? Even if Eden's parents were horrible people, Angelina still murdered Grace. If anything, Eden would have been safer in government care. It just didn't make much sense.
  7. Carrie was sent by The Alchemist to bring Chinese restaurants back to their Qin dynasty roots.
  8. I must say Bo grew on me really fast, so I'm a bit disappointed they made him evil. He does have an underlying vulnerability. I liked Henry last season but the writing really was making me like him less and pushing me to prefer Bo over him, until this episode.
  9. I wonder if Bo is some minion, since he seemed genuinely surprised to see Nicky and didn't want to hurt her. I'm glad they will be pivoting back to Nicky and Henry. I really hope Pei-Ling stays on the show. She has great chemistry with everyone. She can deliver wise sage advice with such believability, like when she was encouraging Henry with the power of love. I agree that the non-magic/kung fu storylines were all pretty good as well. I like how they had Evan speaking with both Jin and Mei-Li in this episode. It's not an easy job to make all the characters feel relevant. I've never trusted Carrie, and as thuganomics85 said above, who hates fusion food that much? This positive press would bring new people to the restaurant. Diluting the brand? Give me a break. I wonder if we will eventually find out this company is in leagues with Delta Security, with the food services division. I didn't like Dennis' sister in her first episode, but I liked Althea helping her in this one. Althea is really kickass even without technology. Her questioning of the thief was hilarious, too. I too feel a bit badly for Anthony and I expected him to confide in Jin. I didn't expect Jin would run against him. Well, this will make Delta Security target him, now. I'm really glad the Writers are devoting screen time to the parents. So many shows couldn't care less about the older generation. The magical transportation to the Wasteland mechanism was a stretch and full of convenience (Pei-Ling can read ancient spells! Nicky found accurate drawings in a folk story book! Henry can lock onto magical objects in other dimensions!), but I think they did make it work. The redemption arc for Zhilan was good enough that I'm glad she is back, and I look forward to her interactions with Pei-Ling. I suspect Bo is a villain who will eventually seek redemption, so perhaps a future love interest for Zhilan? I was hoping her old boyfriend would show up alive too.
  10. Finally! May the beard be gone. Since there was finally plot movement, I liked this episode more, plus it was a nice "win" for the heroes. They managed to save the more "innocent" 828-ers. Though Adrian told everyone about locking up Ben in the basement and they were okay with it? "Let's guess dad's password". I guess dad is dumber than we thought. Wasn't Ben a math professor? Surely he could have been more creative with some random numbers based on Eden's birthday or something. I agree Zeke's powers are probably on overdrive now, and he took on Erica's anger. It was satisfying to see him take her out, though. For a chill guy, Zeke was ready to hit that Donovan guy (who was helping Ben and got knocked out by Erica) with a plank of wood earlier, so maybe he was having a non-zen day. The Callings made it easy on everyone this week. Just follow the beeeees! And Cal's "calling" aka memories just took him right there. No one saw Angelina and the baby or had dashcam footing of them walking away from the bridge? There were a ton of cars passing by. The sloppiest part of the episode was when everyone assumed Angelina and Adrian had died, yet he was driving a car looking just fine and dandy, and STILL helping crazy psycho.
  11. This season started off quite strong and I was optimistic, but this episode's title pretty much describes how I'm feeling about the show at this point. I don't feel the pacing is much different than the typical seasons we had previously, and this episode was particularly slow. I thought that bird flying around the cemetery was an evil pigeon with death ray eyes, not a powerful mythical bird. The passenger-of-the-week was nice and I liked his interactions with Michaela. Why wasn't he checking in with the registry again? If he had been going regularly, they would have let him visit his mom at the hospital, no? Ultimately, this whole subplot resulted in a blanket. Which was also the culmination of Olive recounting all the ridiculous and totally forgettable storylines of seasons past. This isn't the type of show I watch over and over (once was frankly more than enough), so it's not very nostalgic to be reminded of things I don't even remember. I did like the sibling chemistry with Olive and Older Cal though. I think half of the "fun" of watching this season has been just being amazed at how much he feels like Younger Cal. Do we have to have someone acting frustratingly dumber than a brick every season? This season, Ben takes the dunce cap every episode. Again, he reset back to square one in this episode with his single-mindedness about Eden and to hell with everyone else. At this rate, I don't buy that finding out that Vance's marriage is over and Saanvi is an alcoholic (?) is going to do anything significant. Of course Ben gets conked on the head at the address. Let me guess, next week, he ends up with the fertilizer that crazy woman was buying and Angelina escapes with Eden. Again. And they are presumed dead but Ben will never give up! Helping to spring Eagan from jail was stupid. They will be letting a wildcat out to cause more havoc. Vance should have ignored Ben. He has been way too accommodating this season. Zeke has got to be a saint to live with these people. He pretty much needs to be a full-time counsellor at home, too. He pretty much brought Olive back to normal with his new superpower. Why doesn't Zeke just go touch Ben when he's asleep or something? This question doesn't work out of context. So the big reveal is that the plane was "in the divine consciousness" for 5 years? And they said that like it was the BIGGEST. DEAL. EVER. I miss having more people be able to watch and comment on this show. Maybe there will be more comments to read in the future, or in later episode threads.
  12. In the first episode of the season, Zeke said something about Mick following the Callings full-time, while Zeke and Olive work to support them all. Since Ben sure isn't raking in anything but fleas. Third episode in, and Ben is still whining that he can't trust the Callings because they aren't leading him straight to Eden. Have the Callings ever led them directly to anything? I'm already tired of them making it seem like Ben has made a breakthrough only to have him revert at the start of every episode. I'm starting to remember the complete jumps in logic the characters make on this show. All the Callings are in the black box? Huh? I don't get it. Did all the Callings have a catch phrase that can be verbalized? And then Cal said, if the Callings are on the black box, then we need to know exactly what happened at that moment on the flight. Again, what? Then, there's the random plot conveniences like Olive suddenly connecting to Eden because of the chalk drawings in the ceilings? Her connection to Cal when the plane disappeared made sense. This doesn't. It was nice to see Captain Daly again and Fiona. So they were just chilling in the Light the whole time? Angelina is so despicable. Hopefully Eden is smart enough to ditch her soon enough. Oh great, that troublesome super genius in jail is going to play Ben like a violin, isn't he? I have a link for we could all enjoy and learn from: https://www.birdnote.org/listen/shows/peacocks-tail-more-meets-eye
  13. It was a bit disappointing to see Ben reset to the beginning of last episode at the start of this one. Saanvi hadn't seen Ben for a few months? So was it different prior to that? I thought he had been hermit-ing for 2 years now. I agree Ben was being super annoying in this one. Though it was sort of interesting to see the impact on older Cal. I liked that conversation Henry had with Cal near the end giving him some confidence. The jerk Callings are making things cryptic as usual, so Cal will need that pep talk. Why did the interview have to be at their house? Isn't that a tad risky? I thought Ben was being incredibly stupid, but I guess the interview actually led to a tip? I'm glad we got some movement on that already. Zeke was quite useful and he is a bit more interesting with this new power, though he is a little too zen about everything. I was hoping to see that woman go all "Misery" on Angelina. Oh boy, flashbacks to the dreaded triangle. Can Jared please stop sleeping with Michaela's friends? I was happy to see her old partner back, but not as Jared's love interest. The government people harassing the 828-ers with the check-ins was pretty infuriating to watch. LOL, that's what I was thinking. "Electromagnetic waves that cannot be heard by human ears". What the heck, writers. Try googling, at the very least.
  14. So after accidentally reading some spoilers in a link on Google News, I decided to start watching sooner rather than later. This show has never been well written, not even in Season 1, but I actually thought this episode was reasonably solid. I still have zero faith that the showrunner has an actual satisfying conclusion planned, but he does have something in mind, so here's hoping knowing the show's death date will result in less aimless meandering. This first episode seemed like a decent start. As much as I hated last season's ending, I think they made good use of the fallout. I agree the actor who plays Older Cal was well casted. I can totally imagine him being Cal, and he was also likeable and easy to relate to in this intro episode. I'm glad they gave a flashback to everyone seeing his older form for the first time. I thought Josh Dallas did fine with what he was given. I hope hobo Ben doesn't last too long, but at least he calmed down a little by the end, and I want to see his journey to getting better. I was afraid something would happen to Anna Ross, but it turns out she was harboring that despicable Angelina. I totally forgot what was up with Jared and Michaela at the end of last season, so I don't get why they are awkward with each other. Zeke's power is pretty cool, though it looks like it may have a toll on him. He was weirdly touchy feely in his therapy sessions. All his clients are okay with him touching them? Is Vance's lab top secret or is it not? They totally left the parkade entrance completely open when they all ran beside the gurney. Plus Vance's "Did anyone follow you?". That wouldn't be surprising considering how erratically Michaela was driving. There were a few of those idiotic laughable moments, so this show hasn't lost its touch in that department. Like the opener with everyone covering their face and going "Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!" when that guy started glowing. Was that supposed to be funny? I missed what Saanvi said. Did she say the plane disappeared from Eureka the moment Angelina killed Grace, just like when she killed the Major? So the 828-ers doing bad bad things results in a punishment of the plane disappearing?
  15. Darn it, I guess the problem with all the episodes being released all at once is it's really easy to accidentally click on a spoiler. I was on Google News and thought an article was about last season's finale, but it was about this one. 😭
  16. A somewhat incomplete set tour:
  17. I half expected them to walk into the portal and realize Darth sent them to 2076. That would have been amusing. Why didn't they just bring some workers from 2076 to mine, instead of relying on questionable warring factions who rely on weak sky people as a labor source. They have cameras everywhere and tons of personnel and somehow didn't manage to capture Rebecca and Scott when they tried to get in earlier? Heck, shouldn't they have captured Silas by now? No one even needed to use that Lazarus card. They didn't even need to go through that hijacking-the-uranium-shipment stuff. Just walk right up to the Tower, get captured and voilà! How did Eve and everyone get all their old clothes back? I thought I remembered seeing them strewn around the floor of the mine. They're all "tracking" Silas, and Izzy and Levi just stop to talk? Did the Writers forget that the four of them were on some pressing mission to find someone before their trail got cold? I suppose Lucas' transformation is that promise to his mom. I'm surprised I actually don't want him to die anymore. I agree he and Scott could make a good couple. That weird lighting and blurry focusing totally made me feel like I was back in the 1980s. That mother has been back in the 1980s long enough to get a job and all that, and now she gets raided? What happened to that scientist guy that Josh and Riley first contacted? The scenes in the ice rink were total cringe. The reunion with his family would have meant a bit more if Josh actually cared about his family. All he seems to care about is getting to next base with Riley. How did the portal send them back to the exact day when Riley and Josh are waiting? As someone mentioned above, the dad acknowledged the mom was in 1988, so that clearly meant the portal could send people to other years. If anyone should be going back to 1988, it's Silas since he actually knows stuff and he would know how to get them back to 10,000 BCE (though why they would want to go back, no one knows). Don't forget to eat your WHEATIES. Real subtle. Every member of this family is an absolute genius.
  18. Bo has been a nice guy, but Nicky really doesn't know him very well and vice versa, so it seems like most of it is physical attraction. I'm also not sure why Nicky needs to be attached to anyone. They could simply have Nicky still feeling some residual anger towards Henry and he could try to win her back eventually. I suppose this is better than the previously expected triangle of Nicky falling back in love with Gavin, I guess?
  19. I haven't even started Season 2 yet, but I was hoping this show would last a bit longer. The main cast was likeable, though this is the type of adaptation that feels like the characters only took the names from the source material, so I couldn't feel much motivation to continue after the first season. I will eventually go back to it, though. I hope it had a chance to have a satisfying conclusion.
  20. I haven't watched yet since it sort of feels like a chore. I wonder if once I start, I will feel the need to binge, or if I will feel that one episode at a time will be all that I can take.
  21. If we go totally out-there, maybe Bo is The Harvester who's the Human...... Quadrant? Who balances the Human Compass?
  22. I guess that could result in Jin getting Ryan to help the politician guy deal. Maybe he comes from a very traditional Asian family, and if he's trying to get elected in Chinatown, where there could be a lot of socially conservative older voters. I don't think I would totally mind this possibility. If Althea and Gavin keep digging, I think they will eventually link back to that shady security firm who's probably controlled by the same powerful group trying get control of Henry the Compass. Secret sect worshipping the Alchemist trying to bring her back?
  23. I was rewatching the previous (short-lived) 1995 Canadian-made "Hardy Boys" series that predated this one. This one was made and set in the 1990s and I can actually imagine these being the same brothers, 10 years later, living in the big city. Joe is similarly quippy and I can even imagine them growing up to look like that. They even had 1-2 crossovers with the Nancy Drew show they made in 1995. It would have been fun to have a Nancy Drew show in the same universe as this 2020 one. The CW Nancy Drew feels like a completely different universe.
  24. I think one of the major reasons I have enjoyed this season so far is because Pei-Lin is in the main show. I like her interactions with everyone else, so I really hope she stays. The way she caged the Alchemist at the end was great. Hopefully, all the souls will be released again when the Alchemist is defeated. I usually hate it when a couple is separated and one starts a relationship/sleeps with with someone new, but somehow, I sort of feel the chemistry between Nicky and Bo. They really did a number on Henry's character. They better not make it a quadrangle with Zhilan. I usually hate magic storylines too but somehow, I think they made the candle work. They've become a lot more skilled with all aspects of the show since the first season, so I hope they don't get cancelled. I hope they don't make Carrie into a full-out villain but she sure seemed shady at the end. I seriously doubt having a special "fusion" dish is going to tank the restaurant, idiot corporate overlords. People who don't like it can just ignore it. The politics story was surprisingly interesting and it gives Jin a good story. Were we supposed to glimpse something in the photo that the politician guy had in that secret envelope? I wonder what his deep dark secret is. What type of bleach he uses for his super white shirts? He looked like he was ready to cry in that TV interview.
  25. She said life is not necessarily "easier" in fairytale land, since they have dragons and ogre rebellions. It was mostly said as a joke here, but I really hoped that concept was going to be explored in 3B in flashbacks when everyone in Storybrooke was sent back. But nope. The plot in the trailer sounds a bit like a mess, so I hope it actually makes sense. Lesson seems to be 'magic comes with a price'? Hopefully without a dearie. Hopefully some of us will be able to watch it and review the movie here.
