Like I've said in this thread in another reply, we haven't seen concrete evidence that he chose to leave, so we have to assume that, like Kelli Giddish's exit, it's a cost-cutting measure. We haven't seen concrete evidence to the latter so we just have to assume that this is a cost-cutting move. And honestly, I don't blame the network/Wolf. They're never gonna shell out big contracts to actors people outside the fandom still can't pick out of a lineup, even after 10 years on a show.

my reaction to this week's Fire and PD after an initial round of "bro wtf?!?!": i watched the entire death scene on twitter and... there's something so beautifully dark about the final 5 seconds. Hawkins' dead body, with his eyes still wide open, Boden holding a kicking and screaming Violet, engulfed in her own emotional hellfire, then fade out to "Executive producer: Dick Wolf", the name itself a cruel reminder to Hawkins/Mikami shippers that this is still his universe; and in his universe, no accidents allowed, especially happy ones like that relationship. Everyone knows it was always temporary, yet these people still foolishly hoped against hope, so now their misery, trauma and heartbreak is a great source of sadistic amusement for me on social media. Sorry not sorry.

But you're not him. Here's the thing. He COULD've done it, could've told the ppl involved w the show, including his longtime screen partner and friend to fuck off (esp after THAT speech), BUT HE DIDN'T. He took the high road, had nothing but good things to say about the show and the exposure it gave him, even after he left it. He even chose not to comment on that fucking speech, even when he definitely knew about it. So, no, I don't think he has an axe to grind, unlike you. Oh, you know, all that ending the show entails. Having to grow a pair and shell out some money to invite former cast members back, actually using their brains to steer the show toward some kind of conclusion, those kinds of thing. Things I can't imagine the show doing right now, or in the next 3 years.

I give up. Basically 3 more years of being the New York Knicks of television - a horrible joke that doesn't have any sign of getting better, yet still raking in the dough. My feelings about this ep, in gif form: My feelings, in words: I am not a Tuckson shipper. I still think that relationship is a big, steaming pile of nonsense. (Hell, Major Crimes did a better cop-and-their-former-Internal Affairs-antagonist love story!) I was fully prepared to throw a goddamn parade in my mind after this ep and bask in the Tuckson shippers' pain. But after I read about what happened, I am...torn between saying "yeah!" and "yikes!". Because goddamn, cancer AND suicide? This may be the new textbook definition of the word "overkill". All in all, certainly not what I expected.
