  1. Really liked Monday's ep though I agree that ending on the "Chloe in Danger!" note is getting old. What I'm hoping is that, despite anvilicious themes to the contrary, Luci's interest in and need for Chloe is not romantic in nature but rather the need to be connected, to trust, to depend upon another being fully. Lu's been on his own for eons- to break down his defenses, allow himself to be vulnerable (which he is physically vulnerable with only Chloe still, right?) and accept connection with someone is a need he can't yet bring himself to accept. I can sympathize with the character's reaction to stand Chloe up- it's awfully scary to allow yourself to be in a position to be rejected when you want to be accepted so much. Maybe tPtB think the only sell-able deep human connection on tv (that isn't genetic) between two leads has to at one point or another be romantic? Unless it's a buddy cop show?
  2. Though I too find him really attractive, I was hoping Show Runners would be ballsy and take advantage of The Alamo for Wyatt to make the sacrifice play.
  3. Pretty good night. I too am going to be in pain until the show returns at the end of the month. I had a hard time understand where May was when she was skypeing with the team then met them at the power plant. It struck me odd the big deal that was made of Coulson giving her the Darkhold for safe keeping. *sigh* I miss captions. Poor Gabe. I *almost* could stand the little Henrie. His glee at learning Robbie was a spy. His loss when he realized the truth. But- then he got all self-righteous with Robbie and the small ember of like was stamped out by bitter little Henrie dislike. Though "Screw you Black Kojak!" gave me hope that there might be warmer feelings again soon. So who was caught in the blast? Just Coulson and Fitz? Mack missed it right? He was coming down with reinforcements when it went off? Though it's getting better each week, I still feel like I'm watching two shows. Daisy, Robbie, Gabe and the Darkhold plot don't gel with the SHIELD rebuild/ Inhuman integration plot. Disjointed. What was the deal with May calling Fitz out on just missing Simmons or there being a thing between them? I thought show was handling their interactions good- no significant romance drama- just two people together working through the random junk. Please show, no romance drama. I don't want to waste time on "We were on a break!" type crap.
  4. I gave up when the music turned up to +++ on the Frank's hospital party scene. I've now blocked whatever 90's music was featured and doubt I'll be returning 'cept maybe when it shows up on Netflix.
  5. Yep, and on the Padres, Lawson's a "B" big deal. He might not be the sensation but he knows his efforts have a big effect in keeping the team on course. For his character, it seems like that's important to him. More than speak two phrases in Korean, right? Funny, his flashback scenes (last episode) made me think of him as the Dorothy Boyd to Amelia's Jerry McGuire.
  6. Yep- it was nice to see a bright Supernatural. Though, otherwise, this ep's details were a return to origins. From Mary's resurrection to Sam's hallucinations of Jessica and early years of angst. I'm excited to see where this season goes. The humans are always scarier than the monsters. I am "H" hoping that Mary is a fixture for the whole run- I don't want to see her killed off in 3. Has Sam ever met Mary- at all? Dean's always been the time traveler... other than the S1 Kansas episode with her ghost, has Sam ever interacted with her?
  7. I was just able to catch up with this last night. I'd already read several responses here, so it didn't have the impact it would have were I unspoiled. Even so, I really liked: 1. Mack's discussion with Elena after the rescue. I'm looking forward to seeing more of their *not* relationship. Muy Caliente! 2. SHIELD is back on the radar as a force for good including cooperation within the ranks and with other bureaucracy. 3. Mack, Coulson, Fitz fight scenes. Their throwdown in the hotel and in the terrorist/ EMP hidey hole was awesome. The trio's combined efforts was my favorite part of the S2 finale and I'd love seeing more this season. What did Coulson call Fitz? Slide rule? 4. John Hannah. I'm still not engaged with the Ghost Rider plot. I'm glad y'all like Gabe because the little Henrie is hard for me to look at. I have no previous knowledge of Robbie in Marvel- I wish he was un-apologetically serving up vengence rather than being angsty with his role. And- sad to say- I miss Daisy bonding with the rest of the team.
  8. This show has such great atmosphere. To content, I've read more about than watched the book and film, but this strikes me as almost more of an Omen redux than the Exorcist. Though it wasn't hard to figure out, I kinda wish they'd have prolonged the reveal that the middle aged man Casey was interacting with was her demon passenger. And damn. They really pounded in the anvil that she needed it- that she sees it- as her rescuer. Savior. :::shivers::: I'm not sure how I feel about the B plot Catholic leadership conspiracy. Everything in the show is moving at a breakneck pace- I think I would have liked to learn more about Tomas, Marcus, Casey, Kat, etc. before plunging the plot headfirst into global institution bending cabals. Bravo to Ben Daniels. He has tremendous chemistry with everyone with which he shares the screen. There's so much jam packed into these episodes, I just want to see more Ben.
  9. There's also the morphing of the NA into MIB at the end of the nightmare. I don't know that we can trust any narrative from the hosts; its possible Maeve saw any number of NA's being outfitted during her evaluation time. With all the crud the developers have shoved into hosts heads, it would be wonder if they could keep all straight. Her previous character, the mother and child, may have had nothing to do with an "Indian" attack.
  10. Westworld is quickly becoming a favorite this season Except, as another poster pointed out, Delores is still the "girl next door" character... loading her horse, dropping the can... Last week's plot regarding her time with MIB would suggest she was in another role three decades ago... And is there really a 30 gap between Jimmy Simpson and Ed Harris?!? :::checking now:::: 1. I don't think there's anything MIB is doing that isn't known or sanctioned by development. His deeper game is there for anybody that wants it- it's not a super secret guests aren't supposed to be there aspect- maybe development has conviced MIB that's he's now doing something that no one else has or can do but that's as much of trick as the rest of the park. 2. What horrific things humans are capable of. Whether or not the hosts are overwrought stuffed toys or beings on the dawn of awareness, the souls that perpetrate such horror upon them- from guests to staff- are corrupted and bent beyond the telling. Maybe Simpson's character will find a way to explore who he can be that isn't a winding narrow staircase of descent into oblivion. 3. I pray Ford's new as yet untold story is positive and a show of the benevolent part of humanity. Even if it gets cut down by whatever powers that be, at least it was something conceived and attempted to be brought to fruition. But... maybe Ford's the most twisted bastard ever and it'll be even more hell for all. 4. I'm not sure what to think of Bernard or his stealthy conversations with Delores. 5. I agree with commentary above that the child in the desert is representative of Ford. I'm not sure what it means that the man can really only talk and share with himself. That he chooses to talk those walks with himself. Maybe nothing; maybe we all are like that- really only comfortable with our inner children.
  11. Unless I'm completely delusional, Luke mentions in JJ that the bar is in someone else's name- I think the bartender that was usually with him at the bar.
  12. I'm kinda surprised that the majority of criticism is for the villains. After thinking about it today and commenting in the ep 13 thread, I'm starting to think that a lot of my negative response to Diamondback and somewhat to Cornell (MA was just awesome despite the characterization being a one note gangster that that couldn't live up to his gangster family's expectations) was because Luke Cage, as a character, was really weak. He was borderline whiny for half of the series. "Ohhh. I'm just a guy." "Ohhh. I'm not a hero." Boo effin' hoo. Luke was right; he's not a hero, the real heroes were Pop (RIP) and Bobby Fish and the young woman with the memorabilia store and Connie and the other members of the community that were working damn hard to bring the dream of Harlem back to their gangster ridden lives. I feel for Luke, I do. His life sucked. Interestingly, with all the whining, unlike JJ and MM, there was not a conflicting philosophical quandary for the character of whether or not he should help. It was never really a question, yet, the character waffled throughout. Even when Pop called in his chip for Luke to find Chico- Luke didn't offer any kind of real resistance, he just kind a kicked at the dirt and mumbled his ok. I now realize I'm mad at the show. I was really looking forward to it and I'm disappointed. All the stuff with cops and corruption and Misty's inscrutable naivete was stale and cliche. "I stalk justice!" Yeah, whatever. A few Good things though- * it was awesome to see Claire. Please bring Rosario Dawson to as many Marvel franchises as her schedule will allow. *The music was amazing. The juxtaposition of music with plot points was handily crafted. * I'd watch the Claire and Mami show- all. the. time. * Nifty to see Turk again too. * Claire and the doctor fixing Luke in Georgia was awesome. "We have to boil him!" Heh. * Liked seeing that Reva's death wasn't random. That didn't sink in after JJ and now requires a re-watch to see where I missed it. * Fish's remodel of the barber shop and that it might be a future setting as something other than a barber shop is cool. I hope I'm not reading too much into the final ep content on that. * Congrats to Alfre Woodard for making me want to throat punch her every single time she was on screen. For that character, I'm glad they gave her zero redeeming qualities.
  13. I understand. I think we could also consider if the act of "beating up" anything has repercussions for humanity. No matter what way we choose to vent our aggression, there is a wide range of consequences along a gamut of social, moral, psychological, etc points. It might be worse for me psychologically to choose to ignore my rage. Worse for me socially to take my rage out on my "wife." Less bad- but still damaging- for me to "beat up" the toaster.
  14. I barely made it through to the end :(. If it wasn't for Rosario Dawson, I think I might have given up altogether. Though, aside from the superficial, I'm having a hard time understanding what Claire sees in Luke. They finished this with him near whining (maybe less ep 13 than ep 11-12)... And I'm done with the coffee euphemism (which, it would have been nice to be done with it when Claire initially called it out in ep... 6 or 7?). I'm sad when characters die because they're too stupid to live. Though, this was almost a theme in this show. Who's going to die next due to stupidity? I came to this ep thread first because i'm having a hard time recalling distinctions in the other eps... Did/does anyone like Misty? She's another that I'm surprised made it through because of the stupid. Perhaps I'm harsh- maybe I should call it naivete. Either way, her stupid helped other stupid get caught in the stupid noose. Lord help me, I missed Frank Whaley in the last few eps. I can't believe I'm admitting to that. Agree with above that Mahershala Ali's Stokes was a much better antagonist than Diamondback- I kinda wish they'd have saved Diamondback as a big bad for another series- let him be a mystery in Luke Cage S1. Oh well. That kiss(?) between Theo Rossi and Alfre Woodard was straight up nasty. Blech. Other than the sex oozing out of everyone, I didn't see any chemistry between those characters. Not even hate chemistry- just... nothin'. Even earlier in the series when he was scheming her through cleaning up Cornell's death--- it was like he spent all of his time with her trying to get close but there was no charisma between them. Was Claire's pick of the boxing number, off of the streetlight flyer, an Iron Fist egg? I'm gonna go watch Jessica Jones again...
  15. See "Milk Money," but, considering that film, your premise still holds. This show has opened a ginormous can of worms. But first, Jonathan Nolan and Athena Wickham, I've missed you. We're all talking about the depravity of humans and human action when allowed to do whatever the hell we want with no consequences (societal though our own souls is another matter). What about what we're causing the tools of depravity to be? We discuss how we rape and kill but we're also forcing- or instilling in them the programming- to rape and kill. The perpetrators are victimized as much as the "victims" with just as much psyche cargo as the others. Louis Herthum (Daddy Abernathy) was AMAZING in his breakdown- he had to be a madman/cannibal, a sheriff, and a devoted- tortured father, among whatever else he was fated to be. These entities have no power to choose good or evil- it's thrust upon them like so much Greco fate. I'm much less interested in the inevitable rebellion than I am in the self-determination of the hosts. If, when given the opportunity, will they choose virtue or depravity? Will they choose healing or sickness? Will they be better than us? Cool.
  16. Hear hear everyone that's linking last night's many Peggy Carter mentions w/ Madame Masque's black crack of doom/ super energy thingy that incoporealized (sp?) Peggy's Not!Love Interest last season (*sniff*) on Marvel's Agent Carter (*sniff*). Thank you Show, for wrapping up May's secret infection within an episode. And extra applause for giving us substantial plot juxtaposed with it- the roll from "ghost" to incorporealized possibly villain scientist(s) trapped within some kind of phased energy plane was a little jarring but I appreciated not dallying around and wasting time getting there. Poor Fitz- back in "all my closest friends betray me"-ville. Mack! YoYo wasn't using you! I promise!!! Please go talk to her and work this out. I appreciated SPDs (THANKS! though I'm always going to process {city starting w/ "S"} Police Department before Sad Panda Daisy) willingness to confront Robbie, somewhat protect herself by showing up in his daily grind, insisting that he deal with her, etc. It took me by surprise when GR showed up at the energy plant/ labs- though it really shouldn't have, right? He was following the SHs that stole the "weapon" to begin with... it shouldn't have been a reach for me to get to him still being involved where "weapon" was stolen. Poor Mack. Hey- the Director can kick May's ass. Wicked. Jason Mara's doing ok- I appreciate that tPtB have created him as politician over covert operative. Anybody know if he's an Inhuman mentioned elsewhere in Marvel Comics? I don't recall a name mentioned- I only heard him referred to as the Director. Thanks azathoth- I didn't hear the reference to Darkhold but was wondering what the book is. Anyone know who the "He" that confined the scientists to begin with is?
  17. I just realized how old I am; it was totally discordant to me when I saw "Mehki Phifer" associated with "mentor."
  18. 1. Can we get rid of the little Henrie on both shows? Gah- amidst all the other stuff I'm whaaa? about ditching Lorenzo Henrie, that's non-negotiable. 2. I liked the juxtaposition of AIDA as protective, as a shield, with a threat that probably can't hurt her but can really F up her human counterparts. 3. Did Jemma remind anyone else of Victoria Hand? 4. Thank you show, for giving us more John Hannah and promising additional John Hannah. Please all season. 5. Heh- YoYo and Mack, sittin' in a tree... :) Ask. Her. To. Dinner. Now. 6. I liked that Daisy utilized Yo Yo as a resource. 7. Not so happy with infected (?) May. If I saw my co-worker's face decompose or whatnot in front of me, I think I'd wave my hand and suggest something was wrong. I grow weary of plot contrivances like this. I hope it's resolved sooner than later and honestly AoS has had a good record lately of getting these sorts of things wrapped. 8. I know we'll see him eventually, but I wish they'd leave the Director as completely unseen and unknown. I know it's not feasible but I can dream. 9. I don't care about Ghost Rider. I miss the team. Together. Working together.
  19. I'm going to miss tLS until next summer. Still going to watch even though they killed Tex. *sniff... tear rolling...* Brooklyn to STL is <15 hrs... probably less with such little traffic (not sure how the walls play into rushhour) I'm pretty sure Wilson and guy that drinks in NY are alive and imprisoned along with Castillo- I don't think the squads had kill orders. The mention of casualties were about our guys and armed henchmen- not killing the Governors. Was the comment between Shaw and primo henchman about daddyChandler when PH said "we've found(?) him?" Shaw's execution of Price doesn't make much sense unless Shaw had already sold the entire Americas territory out to someone else and was on her way to serve that master. Then again, I really have no idea why Shaw would invest so much in keeping peace between US territories if she was only going to backstab all at sooner or later time. :::shrugs:::: Slattery's plea to the armed forces at the plane was moving but really weird? The entirety of the plane scenario was so awkwardly contrived. But again- Kara- you could have saved us all a lot of pain with a couple of rounds back when you fled the STL WH w/ the Pres. I wouldn't mind if it Show decides to leave Eric Dane out of it for 5 or 8 episodes. There's a lot of good chemistry going and a re-work w/o Chandler could be really interesting.
  20. Thanks Paigow, this made my morning ('spcially since all weekend was spent nursing my teenager now sans tonsils and adenoids). :)
  21. As much as I flove Haley, I don't think I even love my kids enough to watch were they cast on this show. :(
  22. During the wedding scene, all i could think about was REC 3.
  23. Oooo, in hindsight, I *so* wish Blair and Drew, at the bus station after having listened to the munchkin commanding them to go back to camp, had looked at one another and said something like "Hey- did you hear something?" "No. You?" "Nope- let's go to Seattle." Annnnddd... back to people running in the woods wielding axes and topknot ponys.
