  1. Jordan is lucky that he was dropped off by a marsh were a moose was coming down to feed...and he happened to bring a bow and arrows as some of his items. We've seen other contestants in past seasons bring bows...as well as others this season...but Jordon lucked out that a massive edible creature happened to frequent near by. Otherwise, he'd be firing arrows and small critters in trees like the rest of them.
  2. Seeing him enjoying himself in the wheelhouse made me wonder if he has a back injury or a "back injury".
  3. Agreed. It's better to work out something like the Monty and Keith did to keep the boat fishing while you're dealing with a family emergency. The boat is how you and everyone around you makes money to do things like pay insurance premiums and bills, as well as the other costs associated with living. I think in this case, Sig was really thrown off his game. His wife is his rock, from what we've seen. There were test results imminent and the outcome of the that would then drive their decision making. I'm really angry at Edgar on many many levels, first and foremost for what he did to that girl.
  4. Yes, that's what she did. The yogurt sauce had mint in it. Queen seemed a bit unhappy until she tasted it, then was fine.
  5. Keep in mind that he's no longer working as an engineer on a commercial vessel. That's a job with great pay. There's a strong likelihood that his change in employment wasn't a choice on his part.
  6. I'm glad that Sig's wife's scan turned out so well. I'm also glad that she gave him a kick in the butt and got him moving the boat to where there were actually crab. Jeeze, Nick isn't one of my favorites on the show largely because of his odd relationship with Wild Bill but this has been a rough trip for him. The foot was something that he could have compensated for and kept going. That arm looks bad. Hopefully it's just a badly pulled muscle, but his inability to even slightly use his arm looks really bad. I'm actually paying attention to the Cornelia Marie recently now that a certain co-captain isn't getting the screen time. Felt bad for the poor engineer receiving Casey's ministrations there on the mess table, but watching the other two deck hands was hilarious. NOTHING was coming between them and their spaghetti, even the fact that the red sauce looked a bit like what was going on on their colleague's finger. Dinner's done, time for some gawking, which made it time for Casey to throw them out of the room. Casey's attempts at humor were weak, but I think they were supposed to distract the guy. I do have a strong suspicion that he won't be able to bend that finger as well as before after Casey sewed him up while watching a YouTube tutorial.
  7. I was wondering about that as well. The boats/ships I've worked on (not charter yachts) have different meal schedules when at the dock versus at sea. Usually at the dock, there's an abbreviated breakfast, a lunch, then no dinner served. I wonder if these boats do something similar. Crew fends for themselves when the boat's tied up.
  8. It seemed like she alternated between being high and just plain not that smart.
  9. Yes, at different parts of his trip. It miraculous how during the course of a trip that the other men all seem to get haggard looking and unkempt, yet Josh is fresh as a daisy and exceptionally yet simultaneously unfortunately well groomed.
  10. The build up of ice on a boat depended on how far north they were. The boats that stayed south and away from the Russian line didn't get the build up.
  11. Watching in the DC area. Poor Kevin. That was an appropriate way for him to go and it certainly sets up a bunch of new drama, but I'm firmly in the camp saying that it should have been Shirley. I find her a much less interesting character than Kevin.
  12. A blown pupil, one that's dilated when the other is not is a sign of increased pressure inside the skull. It's a sign people tend to look for in a head injury. No, I didn't see it on the show. Just with a whack to the head from a swinging pot, there's an excellent chance that kid has at least a concussion. There is a legal requirement for a commercial fishing boat to have safety training, depending on the number of crew people on the boat and where they're fishing. First aid and CPR training are required if there are more than two people on board (46 C.F.R. § 28.210). https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/46/28.210
  13. Oh, the poor Hansens. They've had a really rough stretch the last few years. You KNEW Sig would make the right decision and stay close to port where he could get back and support his wife. Now he has to walk up to the bridge and tell Mandy. The swinging pot on the Cornelia Marie was nightmarish, especially those two guys up on the walkway trying to get control of it. The kid who got hit in the head, Tyler?, for heaven's sake he's probably got a concussion. Is someone going to notice next episode that he has a blown pupil? Casey could/should have evaluated that kid a bit better, but overall he showed AGAIN that he's the captain of that boat and the lump sitting in the other seat with the facial topiary is relief captain at best.
  14. Jack isn't just lazy, he's planned lazy. He decided specifically to do as little as possible, as opposed to being just bad at his job or ignorant of the rules and culture of the boat. You are exactly right about Jwow. He's freaking timid on the boat and thinks leadership/supervision is only working with people who want to do their jobs well. I think he's suppressing his usual self to maintain this "high status" position on the boat, but doesn't know what supervision is really about. The real Jwow is the as#$hole we see in the bar when his barriers are down. He's just an entitled d$%k. Sandy should NOT have to come down off the bridge so much and the reason she's doing so is that Jwow isn't managing his staff properly. Whether she puts two and two together and realizes her golden boy is part of the problem is another question entirely.
  15. It's probably fairly difficult in the current political climate to introduce new regulations on an industry. You'd hope, however, that owners are updating their stability instructions/books asap like the Hansens did in this episode. They're risking lives and a massive investment of money that they have in their boat. This industry has gotten safer since the first season of DC in large part because of moving from the derby to a limited entry fishery with predetermined allotments. Now that the cowboy behavior has been reduced, it's easy to forget that this is still really dangerous work.
  16. Except that Anastasia said she made both her corn and flour tortillas. Flour tortillas look easy, but it's tough to get the consistency right. I've failed many times, even using a pre-made mix like White Wings.
  17. I think Anastasia was thrown a curve when the Primary came into the kitchen and specifically asked for gnocchi when she had already started prep for that meal. Yes, she should have skipped the risotto at that point but given what a ball of stress she was by then it was probably better than she didn't change both courses.
  18. Gracious, but that girl doesn't have much of a career in music ahead of her. I hope that Anastasia is being paid a chef's salary for this charter. She had a day's warning and managed to do a good job. I'd have eaten anything we saw plated this episode. One quibble. Those enchiladas looked more like smothered burritos. Big honkin things, but the guests seemed to love them. So, how many charters will it take before the lads can manage to deploy and retrieve that slide? Is it worth even putting it out? Do people use it more than the once for the novelty of it?
  19. Once again, Casey does the work of a captain while Josh pontificates from a comfy chair. I’m really tired of that dynamic.
  20. On the plus side, the entire crew is united against Mila. We’ve never seen a group consolidate so fast in a season before. J-wow is certainly better this season. Maybe being embarrassed last season after he watched the show helped him a bit. Still, I don’t get the dynamic between him and Sandy. There must be more than we’re seeing. I’m still getting a currying favor with the boss vibe off him. Jack should really be taking notes. Making tea for Sandy is a good step, but he needs to up his game.
  21. It's nice to see Norman back on the Northwestern and looking healthy. The whole family including Mandy pitching in. I don't mind that Edgar is being kept out of sight. Damn, dude, that girl was 16. It'd be better if he was off the boat, but I'm glad we're not seeing him.
  22. Freedom of speech is often misinterpreted. The First Amendment of the US Constitution (which doesn't apply outside of the US, by the way, Mila) says the US Government can't make a law that abridges the freedom of speech. It does not say that a person is free to say anything they want without consequences. If you say something, people are free to react to what you say. So, Miz Mila is wrong on a whole boat load of levels with that assertion.
  23. Currently watching in the DC area. The Steven story line is pushing incredulity, even for a soap opera. Steven stalked and tormented the family, lying to Lucy that her mother is still alive. Then he kidnaps and hold Ian captive for weeks, culminating with Jane being shot and losing her ability to have children. Why aren't people other than Jane more upset about all this? Why does Pat think that people should just forgive him? Why didn't Lucy mind that Steven pretended Cindy was still alive? Why has Ian forgotten he was kidnapped and held prisoner? It's like they've all lost their collective minds. With all the grudge holding we've seen on Eastenders over the years, I really don't understand what the writers were thinking on this one. Has Steven been cured so rapidly of his psychiatric/emotional issues with just that brief stay in a facility? The story line would have been fine, if way way over the top, if it ended with Steven in the psychiatric facility.
  24. The red furry stuff looks too much like she murdered Elmo. I got a big old Lolita vibe from her clothing, too.
