  1. Some are sweet, but they have come a long way - they aren't all that sweet. Although they are all sweeter than most wine, definitely sweeter than red wines :-P .
  2. Mead is good. The Renaissance Festival here has had a mead tent or two for years now. And tomorrow I am going to a meadery (like a distillery or brewery, but for mead) after work. ETA: it's not honeyed beer, it's honey wine
  3. Is the phone call home still a harbinger of doom? I hope not.
  4. Original air date: April 6, 2023
  5. The editing people really get to use their "blur" tools here. 😅 I can't imagine being a patient on this show. Even knowing things will be blurred and creatively filmed and edited, that is a lot of extra people seeing your "private parts" - from the camera operators to the editors, and I'm sure others. The woman who had a labial cyst seemed to be in so much pain, I felt so bad for her. I'm glad Dr Milhouse was able to help.
  6. New show on TLC follows urologist Dr. Fenwa Milhouse
  7. Does anyone else make spiced brownies? I made these dark chocolate spice brownies with Ghirardelli chocolate, cinnamon, and a hint of cayenne. I made them for a dinner at a friend's house last Sunday and forgot to take pictures. These are just the few I kept for myself at home. I've done other variations on the spices, in the past.
  8. Nashville fried chicken is a specific kind of fried chicken so I have no problem with them describing Maneet's dish as Nashville fried because there's no other term for it. She did the livers like Nashville fried chicken. I can get Nashville fried here in MN, even. It really tells you nothing about where the chef is from. I was surprised and sad Britt beat Jose. When I looked at the scorecard it seemed all the difference was in the "randomizer" and not taste or plating. But it was a 3 point difference and that seemed odd since she had undercooked pork and not enough crunch. Seems like it should have been closer. I wanted to verify the scorecard breakdown but my google-fu has failed me, and I am at work and can't dedicate all day to it. :P Also, I'll admit I'm the oddball that doesn't like her that much. She was better this episode but last week and prior I found her demeanor to be OTT and "too much" and coming off as fake/unnatural. I just want Maneet to take her down, though. I love Maneet and would love for her to take the belt again.
  9. When I was watching in real time (yes, I'm that old), I remember thinking the later seasons went off the rails too much. I also didn't like whatshisname they married Christine off to only to ship him off to South America the next day, nor did I like Dan as the Phantom of the courthouse. Year later, watching in syndication, I liked those eps a lot more - they were better than I remembered. I also always liked the first years, too. I liked Lana, and Liz, and even liked Billy. Don't get me wrong, I also loved Mac and Roz. And now I've been rewatching via the marathon on the old Decades network (now called Catchy Comedy?) and while I am loving it, it really shows this remake/continuation really, really pales in comparison.
  10. I'm going to be sad for any one of these 3 to go home. Yes, I know they have a chance with Last Chance Kitchen, but you know what I mean. :)
  11. There's 30 minutes left. It ends at 9:15 (central).
  12. "Finish your dish and then you can die" !! Victoire! Wow, what a competitor. Also, that's a little insane.
  13. Love Padma's dress and boots. Kind of retro.
  14. Original air date: March 30, 2023
  15. 4 1/2 is a fine drive for a day trip. Leave at 7am get there before noon, spend 8-9 hours, go back home. Easy-peasey. Or if you're a night owl, like me, leave home at 10am, and leave NYC at 10pm and get home around 2am (aka bed time :P). And yes, I work a 9-5 job, but for a weekend day that'd be fun.
  16. I thought it's your "go to" for takeout, like your fave or what you most often get, along those lines. So many interpretations!
  17. It wasn't a gravy, it was a jus. I was confused with Maneet''s sandwich. It looked like it had one meatball on top of a very thick slice of bread that was standing on end. But I saw Rocco holding it in the background and it looked like it was hollowed out with more stuff in it.
  18. I didn't realize how much I wanted Stephanie to win until we got to the judging and I was feeling anxious for her. And then she lost, alas - on plating alone! Everything else was tied between her and Maneet. I do like Maneet, too, and I know she's a very impressive chef and would love to eat her food, so I'm not mad or anything. I was just really pulling for Stephanie.
  19. Yes, but I'd say it was more "making a Geoffrey recipe" than "imitating" him. Same with most the others, aside from Jeff.
  20. I, on the other hand, really enjoyed this episode. It was fun watching Geoffrey cook like Sunny and vise versa, and Alex making a sandwich like Jeff, etc. They mostly weren't trying to "act" like the others, but they were a lot more loose and fun. I said mostly, because Jeff was doing am exaggerated Alex when serving the cake and the whole cast was cracking up. I also thought everything they made looked really good. I'm going to have look up that cake recipe.
  21. I can totally see Ilan being a little punk ass to a chef from the midwest. Well, actually, to any chef.
  22. I love all 3 of the fish they cooked with tonight. If I had to pick, it might be halibut as my fave of those 3, but on another day it might be the cod or the salmon. :D
  23. Original air date: March 23, 2023
