Guy's Grocery Games - General Discussion
FormerMod-a1 replied to David T. Cole's topic in Guy's Grocery Games
Were last night's scores some of the lowest ever? At least they were close to each other to not stand out too much, but that's some of the lowest taste scores I think I've seen. -

I don't think I've ever looked at a home for sale that didn't have a refrigerator. Sometimes they didn't have washer and dryer, but they mostly did have those too.

My favorite drama was when they suited up in camo gear with paint guns to take down a drone that kept being flown through and over the property. -

Madison also kept plating after time was called. So he left out 3 of the randomizer items (veg, equipment, and style/type) and then went over the 4th (time) by keeping plating after time was up. -

Tournament Of Champions - General Discussion

I could tell Justin S was just having fun with it, but I could also tell Justin W was not liking it. I think Justin S was just too in the zone to notice, unfortunately, and maybe still in the Fast Foodies mindset where they have a lot of banter while competing. I loved Shirley Chung! I would have been good with either her or Marcel winning, but with 2 of the dishes have raw chicken (if even not all raw) it was kind of obvious Marcel was not going to go on. I love that they got Eric Ripert and Lorena Garcia! (I also love Traci Des Jardin, but she has been a judge before so not as "surprising". :) ) -

"Keh so" and "Kay so" would not sound the same if this midwesterner pronounced them, but I have never heard it pronounced "Keh so" not even any of the times I've been to TX.

Tournament Of Champions - General Discussion
FormerMod-a1 replied to crimsongrl's topic in Tournament Of Champions
I just love this show. After watching the 1st ep of this season I have no qualms about the doubling of contestants. I love the quality of contestants they get to compete and to judge. I love the set up of head to head battles. I love the truly blind judging (they don't even know which chefs are competing so it's not like they know one dish is Michael's and the other is Philip's) And I even love the hype and sports-like set up. I also still love more traditional chef competition shows, but this is a whole other animal. All the head to heads mean you have to be the best every time. No getting by with not being the worst. The other types of competitions, like Top Chef, take a lot of effort too, of course, but in a different way - more of a marathon where this is a series of sprints. -
I liked it. I liked that they hit the ground running with a "big", Cosby-esque case - not shying away from the hard stuff. And I liked all the cast - a good mix of old faces with mostly "new". Yeah, the Cosgrove character came on a bit strong but not a big deal to me. All the others balance him out, and I'm sure he'll get more nuance as we learn more about him.

I never saw that as a lot of work - do one side pony tail, do the other, now gather all the hair (including them) in the third at the back. Done. In fact, I may have tried it in my youth. :D

I was thinking of another direction - have them deal with being empty nesters. Van and Cheyenne - their 2 would be in college (or the youngest about to be), Henry would also be in college so Brock and Barbara Jean would also have no more kids in house, and Jake would out of house, too, leaving Reba all alone (kid wise, she could have a romantic partner). The "kids" could still be in the show via visits or even have to move back for a bit, if needed, and that could cause chaos/"wacky hijinks".

Tournament Of Champions - General Discussion
FormerMod-a1 replied to crimsongrl's topic in Tournament Of Champions
Just saw a preview and they said "double the contestants" - not sure I'm going to like that. I know it means more eps and more ad revenue (I'm assuming the show has done well the past 2 years). I'll still be watching though, I love the blind tasting and the caliber of chef's they've had. Even those I didn't think we as good, really shined here, imo. Looking forward to Feb 20. -
Elizabeth and Henry would be adults now. 21 or 22 Brock could be retired. Barbara Jean still on the air? or maybe has her own home business/mlm. Maybe Van became a real estate tycoon. Cheyenne could be managing a recovery clinic. Reba could be with Dr Hunky or Reverend Yummy Pants, heh. Or someone else, just would rather have her not be alone still. Kyra? a music teacher, maybe? Not sure about Jake - he could be anything.

My DVR recorded 2 new show last night. In the first one I watched they removed the laundry room next to the kitchen. Overall it looks a lot better but I kept wondering if they put a washer and dryer back in somewhere. They never showed one. They basically reconfigured the whole house, but no washer and dryer? Or did I just miss it. The house ended up selling for $790,000, even with a cracked driveway so I suppose it doesn't matter.
