  1. I would much rather he use his native Welsh accent - as sexy as the English accent is, I love the Welsh accent a little more.
  2. Most reputable auto insurance companies offer some kind of new car replacement endorsement with your policy - it may have to be put on when you actually buy a new car, but it isn't something unique to Liberty Mutual. It's like Homeowners insurance - again, most reputable insurance companies automatically offer replacement cost for personal property. It's there, how it works is generally misunderstood.
  3. Just finished watching -- HOOKED!
  4. I liked Jaime, and Fontana. I have an unreasonable love for Dennis Farina, though, so that may be why. I wasn't a huge fan of Claire or Serena, although I don't exactly dislike either one of them. I always felt Jill Hennessy had no real presence, and was surprised when she got her own show.
  5. WyKnott - I've had the same thing happen, My team is constantly getting additional work and procedures. When we take this up with our manager, we're told, "well, you're here to work anyway", which pisses me off. I'm now doing the work of 3 departments, and you're not going to compensate me for that? Well, I'm sure you can guess my response (in my head!). So, I haven't been around much, and I was never a huge poster at TWoP, but some knew me there. I just returned from a trip to Arizona, and have spent the past 2 days trying to get used to being home, and back to work. Trying to keep the vacation high going through the weekend! So, as I'm sitting here and catching up on you all, a Doctor Who trailer came on. SQUEEEEE!!!! I'll be avoiding those scripts/leaks like the plague - I don't want to be spoiled (unless it's about guest stars - those I don't mind). I like watching the story unfold for the first time, not knowing what's coming. Glad to "see" you all! At this moment, I don't have any munchies to offer, but I'll be making salsa later. I'll be sure to save ya some!
  6. Just catching up on this thread - this was one of my favorites at TWOP. Holidays - for Easter, we always had ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans or asparagus. We might, or might not, have roll. Easter was always a lighter meal, compared to Thanksgiving or Christmas. Memorial Day is the "official" start of summer in the U.S., recognized by picnics, parades (not enough attendance at those) hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, and all sorts of salads. And... deviled eggs. At any summer picnic, and a lot of gatherings through the year, deviled eggs are a must. lol. Some people make cakes or jell-o molds for desserts. In my family, pickled eggs are a must, along with chicken corn pudding. Independence Day - more picnic'ing. More hot dogs, etc... see Memorial Day. Labor Day - see above. Thanksgiving - my family always had turkey, and I continued that tradition with my children. so, turkey, stuffing (inside the bird), mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, candied sweet potatoes, creamed onions, mashed turnip, pickle/olive tray, rolls, and cranberry sauce. When I was growing up, it was always canned cranberry sauce. My daughter discovered the joy of fresh, so we now have both. After we woke up from the food coma, there would be an array of pies to choose from - apple, pumpkin, mince, possibly cherry. Also, cream puffs, cookies, Maybe ice cream to go with the apple pie. Christmas - growing up, it was always turkey (again!), stuffing, mashed potatoes, and a veggie (most likely green beans). Mostly cookies for dessert, but pies could be found. New Year's - I will never forget New Year's Day dinner at my grandparents. Pork roast in homemade sauerkraut, with mashed potatoes. Yum Yum (raisin spice cake) cake for dessert. I continued that tradition with my children - my grandmother always said pork & sauerkraut oh NY Day meant good luck through the year. And... we're back to Easter. LOL Pay - I get paid bi-weekly, directly deposited into my bank account. I'm not even sure my company offers a paper check (cheque) anymore. Middle, upper, and executive management are paid bi-monthly. A lot of it has to do with who's eligible for overtime pay, and who isn't. I love lamb, haven't tried goat, made duck for the first time 2 years ago and LOVED it. I've been advised against trying goose.
  7. Did she really? James Henry isn't even a year old, so how hard could she be trying? I feel badly for Martin - his father dies, his mother descends, and his wife abandons him. Louisa knew what she was getting when she agreed to marry Martin. I couldn't tell if she really had discussed field day with him, but she to have known that asking him to speak off the cuff, and extoll the virtues of physical activity wouldn't be easy for him, and that she'd get a dose of reality. Why does she continue to expect him to behave only the way she wants him to, instead of himself?
  8. So glad to see a Doc Martin thread. Just watched tonight's ep, and hate Louisa. It's changed from irritation to outright hatred.
  9. This is definitely my favorite episode of the series. The guilt Dan has been carrying is written all over his face as he gathers himself together. I always though Casey was my favorite, but I was wrong - it is, and always has been, Dan.
  10. All the dating site ads irk me. I can't help but notice how the Christian Mingle ad has all women, and that one lone man --- well, yeah, dumbass, ya got dinged almost immediately because it seems the ratio of men to women is like 1 man for every 10,000 women. I'm ashamed to admit I've joined several over the years, and all I've ever met (talked to online) are men who are looking for a one night stand (do they even call it that anymore?), married men pretending to be single, or creepy guys who can't take no for an answer. (I think it's Christian Mingle - either way... only one man?)
  11. Hi Everyone - peanutbunny reporting in! Glad to see so many familiar names, and looking forward to chatting with you here. I mostly read through the story threads, didn't contribute much to those (mostly because I wanted to stay out of arguments, however friendly they may have been). I would like a hammock, please. And Jammie Dodgers. thanks!
  12. I wish they'd get the accents right - that's driving me up a wall. If I remember correctly, many colonists still spoke with a British accent. One of those guys sounded like he was from the deep South. I kinda like it - Abe irritates if only because I don't like the dithering, bowing, and scraping. I get it, you have to make it look good to your dad and townspeople, but God's sake, man! Have a backbone! I, too, was surprised to see a Scotsman working with the British.
