Small Talk: Ughngnggh! Ugghhnnn!

I was on holiday in Portugal with the girlfriend one year and we went to the cinema, we were sat down and people were walking in with armfuls of food and drink, the girlfriend thought Oh shit here we go, another fist fight on the cards as they were slurping and chomping away. Yet honestly, from the second the lights went down until the intermission, which was a pleasant blast from the past, we didn’t hear so much as a rustle from a sweet wrapper, slurp or the crunch of a chip, it was absolutely heavenly and left us both amazed. -

It’s always worrying when an absolute classic is re-imagined, in my opinion they couldn’t have made a better start than to have the dialogue in German, rather than having German / French soldiers speaking English, Das Boot is the perfect example of what a difference it can make as to what language is used in the movie, the German spoken version is many times more enjoyable than the English version. It looks pretty good, it might even encourage me to visit a cinema and risk those hot dog chewing, popcorn chomping, cheese covered nacho munching, half gallon slurping ignoramuses that have ruined so many of my previous visits. As long as there are enough bangs and explosions to cover the annoying fools I might give it a go 🙄 -

Absolutely, My Dad gave me his 1929 first English print run copy when I was a kid, that’s what started my fascination with WW1, one of my most prized possessions and it definitely needs reading again. -

It’s the big building once controlled by Ian (Michael Biehn) he played Reese in Terminator, where Negan and his wife were living, the building that the Commonwealth soldiers pushed the inhabitants off the roof, that was later taken back by Maggie and Negan. 😂🤣😂🤣 like seriously they wouldn’t have had a guy watching the place and raiding it regularly 🙄🙄

Well if I were a rich man, apart from buying Maggie’s pants, the Commonwealth would be left a smouldering, corpse laden mess, is it really in any doubt 🤔 -
Apart from this just being a fancy gimmick, I don’t understand how people this far into the apocalypse could be even slightly bothered by Walkers. Unless however Manhattan has been infested with the ‘Super Walker’ Dun Dun Duh 😱😱😱, in which case it’s no wonder they’re swinging between buildings like Tarzan, I can’t wait to see Maggie wrapping her thighs around that plank of wood, hair blowing in the breeze as she glides effortlessly from one skyscraper to the next 😂. I wouldn’t be putting money on it 🙄 I think “eating the baby” is pretty much how it’s going to go, off screen obviously. It’s just such an easy out / sad ending that gets Negan even more love that the writers just couldn’t resist. When Maggie finds out it will give them even more reason to make her feel sorry for him, I do hope I’m wrong.

I do miss him, one of the best characters they came up with -
I agree to a certain extent, yet they do have to have a somewhat believable run in to the very last episodes. The end of eleven years of dedication, suffering and loyalty, should at the very least be rewarded by something special and worthy of those years we’ve stuck by this show, through thick and thin.
-
Mmmmmmm 🤔 well that’s a statement I didn’t expect to see from somebody who’s managed to make it this far.
-
The problem for me is that they’ve gone from shuffling idiot to Spider Man in one simple step, the concept is far from new, but I feel it’s been born more from desperation to ensure the success of the offshoot shows, than any form of realistic natural progression of the Walkers. We already have to suspend belief that any Walker would last more than a few weeks without being consumed by nature as it is. I can’t be too critical at this late stage of things, having hand waved so much up until now, i have to be prepared to take whatever they come up with, as long as it puts a smile on my face I’ll see the show out happily 🤗

S11.E20: What's Been Lost
OoohMaggie replied to nodorothyparker's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
Another decent episode, a little slow but I suppose it’s building, 2 weeks without Maggie is rather dull. I do hope that the end result isn’t just about ousting Milton, someone nice taking over and our group just going back to their communities living happily ever after. I will be disappointed if the group don’t manage to decimate the whole of The Commonwealth, as they’ve done to every other community they’ve interacted with. It would be nice to find out what happened to Oceanside, I’m missing Osso Buco guy desperately 🙄 Lance was rather pleasing I have to admit, good old Carol. Lastly, where the hell are these 50,000 people at 🤔 Apart from rent-a-crowd who’ve we seen? -
I wouldn’t. mind seeing a Cheerleading squad, freshly turned obviously, no rotters 😛. You probably don’t remember the first “naked” Walker, from what I can remember it was hard to tell what it was supposed to be.

That’s exactly where they’re going, remember the Walker picking up a rock to break the glass door on the entrance to the department store? If I remember correctly that our people were hiding within. There was also the Walker/s that tried climbing the chain link fence. I think the writers are finally realising that the stupid, shuffling Walkers we’ve had to endure up until now, just won’t cut it in any of the planned offshoots to the Mother Show. The audience that have been here since the beginning need something new and at least somewhat believable to ensure their allegiance to the new offerings. Maggie sitting in a bar with apparently enough electricity to light the place up like a Christmas tree is intriguing to say the least, I hope the show can make the most of these changes and give us something special that us long term viewers will appreciate 🙏

S11.E18: A New Deal
OoohMaggie replied to nodorothyparker's topic in The Walking Dead Franchise Shows
Obviously the risk of a person dying will always be there, how to deal with that situation should, along with how to deal with a Walker encountered whilst going for a walk in the woods, should be taught to every individual within the community. The chaos just witnessed makes a mockery of just how these people have survived for so long, plus the complete lack of training from those in charge. Normally sensible people being caught and eaten by shuffling idiots has long been a major problem with the show, it seems that they’re finally trying to address that issue, let’s see what they can come up with. That also passed me by completely, I was wondering who he reminded me of 🙄 -
Well I’ve watched it three times now, a good episode I have to admit. I’m liking the Mercer storyline, he’s obviously going to play an important role in what’s coming. They certainly made the most out of the reappearance of the Super Walker, big up FD for that, the look on Aaron’s face was priceless 😆 Too much too soon maybe, but they’ve only a few episodes left to set the scene for all of the spin-offs so it’s understandable. If only they’d have carried it over from the original idea, who knows where we’d be now 😔. Someone mentioned previously about wasting too much time on characters we really don’t care about, I have to agree, I feel as though the writers believe they’ve got another whole season to wrap things up, it’s getting very near the end and it just seems a tad too sedate for me. An improvement over last week certainly, I’m just itching to get stuck into what’s going to happen, I hope the upward swing continues until the end 🙏
