Actually it was 1971. They mentioned it several times.

Good, they have one for the baby too!

Rik gets the acting award of this week! Briana got a gemstone for future time travel ( now her & Roger each have one)! Clearly she shouldn’t have told Bonnet about the baby though because he surely escaped that jail before the explosion & will be back to torture the Fraser’s next season. Marsali driving the get-a-way wagon was the best! I was totally shocked when the woman jumped into the fire. And who will raise her baby? John & Murtagh battling to be Jamie’s bestie, lol. Problems of the week: I missed Jamie ( & Claire & Ian), & the mumbling, Omg I will have to watch again as it seemed everyone was mumbling.

I don't think anyone is loving this huge misunderstanding plot!
-
I think John is an honorable guy, so I hope he is just helping her out, with no real intention of actually marrying her. Jamie would not be happy about that! The only thing I found weird is him letting Bree know that he is in love with Jamie. And yes, why not just say her husband is lost, dead, whatever, pretend she was really married to him not just handfast! And Yes-where were they planning to keep Bonnet for months?
-
I think Marsali said something about keeping a criminal there-was she talking about Bonnet or Murtagh??

Right-sleeping in a tent every night, I'd have expected them cuddled up & talking on night #1. However that tent was super huge. Thanks for answering!

Part of my reasoning was how Claire was feeling responsible as well, in a different way than Jamie. If Claire hadn't gone back to the 1700's, Bree wouldn't have gone back! And all parents want to do is protect their child (even grown ones) from harm. It's also difficult to be your child's confidante & not tell your husband, if it involves them! Question for all you book readers-how long did that rift last? days? weeks? months? I forget that parallel stories aren't always moving at the same rate in the episodes.

Claire tells Jamie in 306 about the historian who helped her find him, & Jamie referred to Roger as Bree’s historian in a recent show so I think he does know!
-
You have a fair point! It would seem we all pick sides, I’ve not read this book yet, but I can’t say that I love this whole misunderstanding plot-ugh!
-
Claire’s hair in the tent scene was indeed horrid!

I felt that Jamie did have to wait for Claire to make the makeup move. I was disappointed that it looked like it took months for them to do so. As a mother I feel for Claire but it did not ring true that she would shut out Jamie, he was obviously hurting, & I think they would have talked it over earlier & then commiserated together about how shitty it all was! Damn you Claire. Of course this proves how the hardest part of marriage is raising kids. I assume the point will be to draw out the engagement long enough for the Fraser’s to return with Roger, & not actually get married?

Loved the above sequence! Wth is Jamie doing with his clothes on in these love scenes? And was Claire mad for months? I loved when John showed up at the party & the other men took one look at him, & were dismayed by the competition! Bree better forgive Jamie! Perhaps she could have gotten John to fake an engagement with out trying to blackmail him? Marsali & Fergus are so cute! More of them please.

Lol, Give hubby a break, I spoke to a woman at a party last year who said Outlander was her 90 yr old mom’s fave show.

It's on a regular cable channel in Canada at 8 pm Sundays where I live!

But had you seen that in a Tv show before-something that brutal? Because I guess I had not. Of course I had not seen sex like the Wedding either. I think that season was kinda groundbreaking.

If you are talking about “Wentworth” & “To Ransom a Man’s Soul”, I remember the first time I watched them I thought I would be sick & also that I would never watch those again, but I later thought about how much they made me invested in the characters ( In a way that I usually do not care about Tv characters). Of course I appreciated them more on rewatch- and when those times were with other people I was reminded by them of the horror I felt the first time! I was surprised to come to message boards though & see that people quit the show instead of appreciating the amazing acting! I am kidding myself that I just want a happily ever after show, although the one thing I love is that Jamie & Claire are together forever ( because of Diana). In most tv shows you get a couple with a little chemistry but then someone is killed off or leaves the show, & I hate that!!
-
I imagine Jamie & Bree will continue to be at odds because of being from different times-Jamie & Claire have come to terms & respect each other, so now it will be Jamie & the younger generation. And on that other tangeant-isn't every name these days unisex & spelled originally?
-
No doubt being with Claire influenced the man he became as well!
-
You don't think Jamie is a more sensitive husband/human because of what he endured? I think he is.
-
Why is it that husbands can always bring up the practical things & ruin the fantasy? Mine is always good for a laugh, but usually at inappropriate times!
-
I am in the book thread here so I will guess that Bree & Roger’s stupid storyline was written so they’d have to stay in the past for a long time? Forever? The only good thing in that is Jamie & Claire getting to see their grandchild. If I was them I’d be hightailing back to 1971 as fast as I could.
-
Jamie’s life has been exceptionally difficult, but to be fair even the women do suffer quite a bit too. I think Diana is a bit of a sadist.
-
It was me-no doubt she made those men suffer long & hard to turn them into the wonderful husbands they become! I do not object to the violence in the show either, obviously I am a fan, but I do make sure I warn others about it when recommending it. I do have a few friends that could not stomach it, which is a shame they miss out on a good story, great characters.

Except that no one will want to read it!
