  1. Lol, I hope not! It seems like a lot of work to build it again!
  2. I stand corrected! And will share with the kid! I do love how these threads get onto tangeants. It might be weird but I always notice everyone’s eye colour!
  3. My husband likes Jamie- he likes that he is loyal, faithful, physically strong, but he thinks it's a bit much that he can do everything well -like when he caught the fish with his hands a few episodes ago-he laughs that off as "Jamie can do anything!" My husband has many of Jamie's qualities but he is NOT romantic at all! I will say that I thought I liked romantic Jamie, but some of the cheese out of his mouth this season I could live without-he might be sexier if he shut up! (I think this is actually Diana's fault, or the show writer's)
  4. Well I chalk it up to Jenny having those dark brown eyes, since she is Jamie's sister!
  5. Since I love Jamie & Claire, I don't mind seeing a bit of domesticity, but I think there needs to be some excitement as well, although having them in constant peril is no fun! So did you love the first 1/2 of the first season the most? I thought it was so slow. Of course eventually I realized it held a lot of info about the future, but at the time I didn't know that. After rewatching I paid more attention to the details of conversations, etc.
  6. Don't you think that's what will happen now that they have their cabin at Fraser's ridge? They will eventually have a community I think. Until that cabin burns down?
  7. I've always thought the face shape was a good match but the eye color bugs me, not because of the book descriptions, but because 2 blue eyed people do NOT have a golden brown eyed child-my daughter, the biology major assures me of this!
  8. I agree there is so much to like -the sets, scenery, costumes, attention to detail, but I need a poll to see if people like secondary characters more than mains? And how sad for you because we lost most of those characters in season 2/3.
  9. Jamie is far from perfect, but I've never loved a Tv character this much. And I have never loved a book character, so Sam gets all the credit for me picking up those books after seeing the show! I doubt any of us want to compare the real men we live with to a fantasy, haha!
  10. Your husband sounds like mine- He always reminds me that Jamie was invented by a woman, he feels bad for Frank, & he thinks Claire is so much trouble that Jamie should have enjoyed that 20 yr break! I watched the first 3 seasons without him. I know he loves historical fiction so when I wouldn't stop talking about the show to whoever would listen, he said "ok if you want to watch it again, let's do it." I knew he thought I loved Jamie just because he is HOT, but I wanted him to see the real reason- my real reason is because Jamie loves Claire unconditionally! She can truly be herself & he never thinks less of her. So that answers my question for Auntie Mame! We want a husband that not only loves us, listens to us, respects us, wants us, & cannot live without us!
  11. I am often icked out by the thought of how dirty everyone is in these times, but I hand wave that away, or especially love scenes would be gross. I hope I will get to watch it tomorrow- going to a friend's cabin for a few days. I bet Bonnet will be the villain for a few years, even though Jamie will of course want to kill him. Let's not age up anyone, I like my Jamie pretty & young!
  12. I don’t think that opinion is unpopular. A perhaps more popular one is being in love with Jamie.
  13. I agree, but in this case if I didn’t love these characters I don’t think I’d watch it. I start a lot of shows that are recommended but rarely like them this much and that is down to really understanding & feeling these characters. Weirdly I think I relate to Jamie’s resilience even more than Claire’s. But I do like that she is strong, strong woman, especially emotionally.
  14. As much trouble as it seems she causes Jamie- she saved him so many times too! That’s an interesting backstory we don’t know- did Geillis convince Dougal to join the cause?
  15. I have a few friends who do not like Claire at all, but I don't think that is the popular opinion? Aren't we supposed to root for the main character? I maintain that Jamie & Claire killing Dougal cut his life short by only hours!
  16. Yuck I have trouble with that! You think it was a coincidence she met Jamie & saved him? I wonder about Claire’s family tree because obviously they were time travellers, maybe one day Diana will explain that, & Claire’s destiny?
  17. I always believe she was meant for Jamie, and that is why she landed where she did! I just started reading the book, so as to not get ahead of the show!
  18. It wasn’t anyone’s fault the baby died, it’s sad that Claire blamed herself.
  19. I binged the first 3 seasons & I must say I preferred watching it that way to week to week. But I can't help myself from watching each week, instead of saving them up to binge.
  20. Yes, in epi 201 Frank revealed to Reverend Wakefield that he was unable to father children, so taking back already pregnant Claire was his only chance to be a father, & he took it.
  21. You know they seemed like they interfered at the time, especially Claire, but then in the end I thought how they weren’t really able to change anything anyway. Dougal would have died at Culloden ( most likely), Colum from his disease. If Mary hadn’t been raped she’d have been married to the ugly warty guy she was engaged to, so that freed her to later get together with Alex. Master Raymond killed Le Comte Ste Germain, not Claire! It’s always interesting in discussing these things how people’s perspectives are so different, & I enjoy reading them.
  22. They clearly have not shown character development or relationship development enough with Bri & Roger, not as much as they did with Jamie & Claire, although I try to think back to the beginning when we didn’t know much about Jamie either- but at least each time we learned something about his character it was positive. With Roger it’s been too negative this season, I hope that turns around! Did they really ruin anyone’s life? Do I have selective memory?
  23. That line was particularly cringey, although I think we were supposed to find it funny?
  24. Non of us needed to have read the book to see where this was going!
  25. The whole show has had a theme about raising kids that aren’t biologically yours- from Colum with Hamish, Roger with his uncle, Jamie & Claire taking in Fergus, heck Jamie was so desperate to raise kids because he missed Bri, Faith, & Willie( Fergus was grown by this time)- that he married crazy Laoghaire! Also Murtagh loving Jamie & being a father figure because he loved Ellen, & John loving Willie because he loves Jamie. Everyone, not just Frank was in on this theme! Surely Roger is going to be ok with this?
