Changing topic... I have 2 beige, chenille cotton bath rugs from Kohl's in my en suite bathroom. I wash them in the washing machine and let them dry on the line in my basement. When dry, they get very fluffy but after a while they get pretty flat. Mr. ECM would prefer that I not wash them in our washing machine, as it's a newer one, and feels it's not good to wash in an unbalanced load, b/c there is lots of banging going on. However, I do try to balance the load by putting in towels or other items to wash. He says he will wash outside with the hose. I don't see how that would work in the cold of winter. My question to all of you is this: How often do you wash your bath rugs? I'm really not that fastidious of a person, but I tend to wash them fairly often.

I'm hanging my head in shame for missing FJ tonight, having been raised Roman Catholic. It was at the tip of my tongue, and I knew it was the holy day following Easter, but darn if I couldn't recall Pentecost in time.

2/2 correct FJ this week. It's exciting when a contestant comes from 3rd place to win. Wasn't sorry to see the current champ leave.

I always get a slight fever after getting the COVID booster, but didn't this time. I'm wondering if it's because I got the Pfizer one, because all the other times, I got the Moderna one. No reaction this time at all, not even a sore arm. I waited a good 2 weeks afterwards to get the flu shot.

I believe Chock is only 60, although to me he looks older. His dad could conceivably be in his 80s.

I think so, too, and to me he was the best- looking of the men this season. However, I wonder if he's just too quiet to carry the lead. He seems like a sweet man, and was very well -liked by the other men. Surprisingly, Pascal said he was his best friend in the house. I think Guy, also, is very nice and caring. He really teared up when Mark announced he was leaving. I honestly don't know who is Joan's final pick, but she seems to have the strongest bond with Chock. I just don't care for Chock, but hopefully Joan will be happy with whomever she chooses.

House Hunters International - General Discussion

Was this a new episode? My DVR didn't record this one. -
I'm shocked that he came back at all, let alone so soon. Someone remind me what's Chock's relationship status? I don't recall him being widowed and he doesn't talk about any children. Was he a lifelong bachelor?

Good point because if she hadn't had to pay the ex some money for her to have sole ownership of the Inn, she would have been in much better financial shape, not to mention be able to afford all the much needed repairs. I hadn't even thought that her ex should not have had any claim to her inheritance. When they mentioned her "buying the inn", I thought, perhaps, that there were other relatives who had a stake to the inn. Rarely do they show divorced people, so that was different. I'm not a big fan of Erin Cahill, but do like Wes Brown. For me, watching Hallmark movies are more enjoyable when I record and start watching about a half-hour into the movie, or an hour later. I can knock off 30 minutes by zipping through commercials. It's also the only way my husband will watch them with me.

Off to a good start this week with the correct FJ that came to me in an instant for some reason. I knew Coca Cola had been around a long time. I did get the TS of coddled egg but I was preoccupied on my phone helping a friend out, so I was not paying much attention to the game tonight.

Jaclyn from season 6, Boston, who was paired with firefighter Ryan, has just had her 2nd child, with her husband Dane. I liked her a lot but wasn't surprised when her marriage to Ryan didn't work out. https://www.instagram.com/p/DA0-stavG57/?igsh=eXd2ZnJ0cGRxMGsw -
So sad about Frank. I did read that he had never fully recovered from the stroke he had 2 years ago. Mike was with him when he passed. I guess they had mended fences. https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/01/entertainment/frank-fritz-american-pickers-death/index.html

Craftsman or Farmhouse, open floor plan inside, with a huge kitchen island, white cabinetry, and farmhouse sink. Don't forget that it must be in a neighborhood within walking distance of coffee shops and restaurants, but the neighbors can't be TOO close! -

One memory I have from childhood is returning home from Sunday Mass and seeing 2 fried meatballs on the counter that my Dad would leave out for my sister and me to sample.

I sort of eyeball it. You don't want it to be too thin. For each can of crushed tomatoes and paste used, I'd probably say add around 3/4 of the can size. For marinara, add less. I'm sorry that you are still feeling under the weather, @kristen111. I have wanted to go on a Mediterranean cruise for the longest time. If your husband doesn't want to go, you should go with your friend, if you are able to. Life's too short. My son and his wife celebrated their first wedding anniversary this week and are now en route to Hawaii. Another place that I've never been. Anyway, they had a layover in Dallas and my son texted me that the woman sitting next to his wife was sick and wasn't wearing a mask. This concerns me b/c my daughter-in-law has had Covid 3X. She gets sick frequently and her job as a case worker, doesn't help any. I'd appreciate sending out some good vibes that she doesn't get sick and have her vacation ruined.

We don't like spicy, but when I DO add sausage, it's the sweet Italian kind. I also love braciole in the sauce, too.
-
Not really a recipe per se. My dad taught me how to make meat sauce, and over the years I have simplified because my husband isn't crazy about sausage, and cutting and frying the spare ribs was tiresome. Basically it's: 2, 28 oz cans crushed tomatoes 4, 6 oz cans tomato paste Water from each of the cans Basil, oregano Onion and garlic Start by sauteing a diced onion and a few garlic cloves in olive oil in bottom of large saucepan. Then add the crushed tomatoes and tomato paste with water and seasonings. If you are not making a meat sauce, just marinara , don't add a lot of water. While this is simmering over low heat, fry the meatballs. Drain on paper towels and plop into the sauce. Cook about 3 1/2- 4 hours. A lot of folks bake their meatballs, but we prefer frying.
-
About once a month, on a Sunday, I make a sauce with about 16 meatballs to last for 4 Sunday pasta dinners. I've been doing this for 41+ years and probably will for another long while. We haven't had Sunday sauce for a few weeks, as I was all out of sauce and didn't feel like making it in the Summer heat. Last week we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant instead. I could always whip up a quick marinara sauce, but the mister wants meatballs. My meat sauce cooks about 4 hours and right now the kitchen smells so good.
