  1. the report said she was disheveled. Am I alone in eagerly awaiting the mug shot?
  2. So glad this show is back, as a avid home baker with a true crime obsession—this is the ultimate summer diversion. If I had seen the saltines I would have known it was an Atlantic Beach pie. I've made them before, they are delicious and perfect for summer. I really hope they let them look up recipes once they make their guess, because even though I knew it was an Atlantic Beach pie (never heard it called boardwalk pie before). I would have no idea on exact measurementss. it's not something you make all the time. It's the saltine crust though that makes it distinct.
  3. I'm glad it's not just me. I was fixing to have a fit as big as Brett's wedding day pants.
  4. I can’t help it, but it gives me a soft spot for her. I wear an initial necklace for my deceased daughter and I always hold her “M” when I need a little strength. did you ever notice in David vs. Goliath that Dr. Allison compulsively checked her heart rate at tribal counsels? That used to crack me up.
  5. Holy crap! Never thought it would be the allli-gabler lol
  6. I like the format too. Seems like a more genuine exchange. But I think Cassidy takes it
  7. I think all three of them are doing great. They seem relaxed, honest, humble when they need to be, proud of the right things….funny, sincere, realistic about how they played. I think they all are doing about as good as they good.
  8. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but his name is Jesse not Jesus. The way the jury was anointing his head with oil was a little much. he played a great game, but he should have been practicing fire before he had to. He had to KNOW that if he didn’t win immunity he would be making fire. I think Cassidy played a good game. Not a great one but she wouldn’t be a horrible winner. The best player rarely makes it to the end. It’s not an easy minefield to navigate at the end.
  9. I immediately thought of The Monster at the End of This Book. (My favorite!) you could do braided edges for the rope. Use stamps for the bricks, meringue for the cement in the bricks and on Grover’s head, powdered sugar glaze for the glue. Adorbs!
  10. heart. broken. If everyone's bake was so disappointing, maybe it's because the challenges weren't realistic. I'm a pretty avid home baker. I really enjoy trying to decide what I would do for each of the challenges. And most weeks I attempt to do the the signature to see if/how I can. Never made vol-au-vents....excited to try. But that showstopper....I would have just quit. I admit, pies are my least favorite and least successful thing to bake, but good Lord. Make a 3D fairy tale out of 8 separate pies in four hours? No. Just no.
  11. Very sorry to see ESO go—their food always looked amazing. Not a fan of either of the remaining teams. Their food doesn't interest me and their schtick seems more important to them than the food anyway.
  12. It has been driving me crazy to try and figure out who the Senoreata woman and that bulbous halo of hair reminds me. It finally hit me—it's pick ax murderer Karla Faye Tucker!
  13. I wish we could just have five winners. These are just the sweetest little girls. Ellora is my favorite. She’s like the Beth March of kid bakers. Quiet, sweet and shy. I ❤️her. But I like all of the remaining girls and Lucia and Riya too. Just overall a great cast. every elimination is going to be brutal.
  14. I thought she was just agreeing/sympathizing with them to keep them talking. Like a detective talks to a suspect.
  15. I can’t watch this show without yelling at Robyn and Kody. It’s very upsetting to my dog.
  16. I think it's super important for kids to learn how to win (and lose) with grace at an early age. All of their life they will be forced to compete for something. But I'm not sure it's such a great idea for them to have to learn that lesson on TV.
  17. It’s funny what you notice on a rewatch! I just watched David vs. Goliath (my all time favorite season) again. And I immediately noticed that Dr. Allison is constantly checking her pulse during tense tribal councils. It’s such a small thing but it cracks me up.
  18. Ellora is the sweetest little kid ever! That soft little voice and her just smiling when the jokes go over her head. I just want to carry her around in my pocket.
  19. Juergen was my least favorite of the remaining bakers, but I will still sad to see him go. And even though he's my least favorite he's still adorable. They always find the best contestants. And they all had such a good week!. I had convinced myself they would let everyone through so I was disappointed.
  20. I can see that, but what else would the masher in the drain board be for? Plus the correct showstopper in a previous episode was a ginger spice cake, so I’d hesitate to do it again. it’s super easy to be an armchair baker like I’m doing here. And honestly I think getting the decor right was probably weighted heavier on this task since they didn’t dwell on the cake flavor that much. Something definitive led the rest of the teams to guess banana correctly. I’m sorry to see them go.
  21. This is the first week that I felt like I would have been in way over my head if I was a contestant. I guess that's good since it's the semi finals. I'd like to think I would have gone with opera cake. I know what it is and the teams were right...it was the obvious choice. I've just never made it before although it's been on every baking competition show ever created. I know how to make tiramisu so I would have been tempted to do that. I'm sure I would have talked myself into it, lol. I have looked up several opera cake recipes after watching this. I'll be trying it before long. The banana cake itself seemed pretty obvious. I've seen geode and fault line cakes on lots of shows, but I've never made them either. And my decorating skills are pretty limited. Let's just call me a minimalist because I have a minimal list of decor I can do successfully. Whichever one I would have tried it would have ended up looking pretty crazy pants—of that I am certain. Very sorry to see the veterans go, but they were the right team to be eliminated. Especially missing the bananas completely and just going all in on flowers because it was Mother's Day. The daughter in the mother/daughter team did her best Thomas impersonation this episode. She was super snippy and way too intense. I mean, her mom is right—it's just cake.
  22. Another week, another episode. I do wish there was more interaction between the teams. They just stand there and whisper about each other—weird! For the first round, I would NOT have made a wreath! I would have done orange rolls. I really don't enjoy making bread that much. However, when the mom did come up with the wreath idea, I knew she was right. There's just no way I would have gotten there on my own. And I would have screwed up the proving somehow. I always do! A macaron tower seemed really obvious. My Aunt Jeannette, the best baker I ever knew, taught me to use cream of tartar in my meringue topping for pies. It's super gratifying for me to be watching at home and go..."must be meringue" at the same time the contestants do, lol. I thought Thomas thinking to make a triangle shaped cake with that clue was bizarre. And when he HEARD other bakers slamming their pans down to get the air out of their macarons and decided to make a few, how could he not have said "wait, maybe that's a tower and not a triangle." It was his mom that got it right this week, not him. I no longer find his uptight primness endearing at all. He must be exhausting! I guess I'm routing for the mother/daughter team and the veterans. The "we lost everything and live in a trailer" couple grate on my nerves for some reason. The Las Vegas duo aren't compelling or interesting at all and well Thomas can kick rocks and his mom can adopt me.
  23. She definitely looks different, especially around her mouth and eyes. she was really pretty naturally. The fillers plump up fine lines and wrinkles which theoretically make you look younger/fresher. She’s just gone too far this time. Kinda like what the lady that waxed my eyebrows did last week. I’ll be looking a little surprised until they fill in lol
