  1. This show is essentially my summer viewing. I saw a tweet stating it's a stupid show with extremely likeable characters and yeah, that's about right. You know what I think this show lacks? Female writers. Either no one is actively writing the Magnum/Higgins (partner) ship with the intent of it being more at some point or they do and it comes out all wrong on screen. I just think the buck always stops painfully short when it comes to those kinds of scenes. They have good chemistry though. Wouldn't Higgins be there on an employment visa? It always struck me as something that Robin should be resolving instead of his other employees resorting to impromptu marriages to keep her there. Just saying. If Robin had to go all the way to the UK to find a majordomo he can damn well make sure the paperwork is in order. I figure it'll be a long wait for season 3, but I'm looking forward to it.
  2. Episodes 6 and 7, one more to go. - I do find it peculiar that the family found him after only an hour and the police didn't find Alonzo for a month. - Wouldn't being kept in a freezer also have left traces on the body? I didn't hear the coroner give an estimate as to when he died exactly. - From the description, it sounded like he was fairly unblemished when he was found. He could have overdosed (maybe if he was taking something for his ankle in combination with something stronger) and someone panicked and hid the body. Even if he'd been attacked, you would be able to tell from a broken bone or a cracked rib. Even bruising would still be visible, no? I am no expert on hate crimes, but I always get the impression that people who commit hate crimes would either make an effort to bury or otherwise conceal the body so it's not ever found or leave it out in the open not caring what happens to it. "Giving" it back after a month so it can be found almost sounds like someone had regrets and decided to set things straight. UFO episode Yeah, I got nothing. It was strange that nothing, but I mean nothing was kept from that night. So people called the radio but didn't swamp the police station? Your 12 year old daughter goes missing and then appears out of nowhere a few hours later? I mean, she was in the car and then she wasn't. I would have liked to hear her tell how her parents reacted to that night. Ditto for the woman who saw the kid disappear. It was an ok episode even though I don't really believe in aliens or UFO's. Didn't need the gas station guy because it felt sort of like a stereotypical crackpot witness. Dude, chill.
  3. It was a stupid excuse. But what else did you expect him to say? 1) How do you have four teenagers, and not one of their friends coming to the door during that week asking why texts have gone unanswered? 2) That was some calculated horror right there. Not only did he kill five people, but he lugged four of them downstairs, wrapped them and buried them and no one heard or saw a thing. I figure the garden might have been closed off but someone should have noticed him unusually rummaging around in the middle of the night. Also, his older sons looked pretty tall and sturdy. I find it strange that (with his back issues) he was still walking upright at the end of that week. 3) Dragging out his own disappearance seemed so strange to me. What would he have done if he'd been recognised somewhere?
  4. How someone else called her in those 13 minutes, saying come help out because I forgot my wallet and I can't pay the gas. It would explain the unsteadiness the friend talked about. Perhaps the blue car blocked her way out, someone passing through asking for directions. Perhaps the old lady offered her a ride if she seemed out of sorts. She didn't have to be dropped off at the gas station, she could have walked. I think the investigators might be biding their time with the husband, see if he eventually slips up. I'm glad the son isn't actually named Pistol.
  5. That building did/does indeed look amazing. The perfect setting for weird shit to occur too. Did he write the note the same day? I got the impression it had been there a while and his wife only found it after the initial investigation died down. I think the rooftop visit was news footage, so perhaps not that odd that they would highlight the search efforts. I felt she and her family were very alone in that though. I know 24 or 48 hours have to pass before police can get involved but they made it seem like it took a long time before they got off their asses. I still can't let go of that hole and how that worked. Even if he jumped/fell off one of those chimneys, he still wouldn't fall fast enough to go head or feet first down straight through the roof. Unless it was made of balsa wood and rice paper.
  6. On the Rey Rivera case. I was most fascinated with the fact that he pretty much corkscrewed into that building. If you jump, would you not sprawl your limbs and land in that position? Vertically going through a roof (straight through the upper layer, the insulation etc) seems rather physically impossible. His boss must have held some sway over him to have him move across the country to write financial treatises without actually having the know how or the expertise. Also, why weren't the police on the lookout for the car or the license plate? A car parked in a busy spot for eight days should have drawn someones attention sooner.
  7. Episodes 3.03 and 3.04. - Way too many Marthas. Or versions thereof. -Am I bummed that I couldn't find the Ariadne song they used at the end of 3.04, yes I am (it's called the Labyrinth Song, and it's not available anywhere that I could find.
  8. Thoughts on episode 3.01 (skimming the rest of the thread to avoid spoilers) - Ulrich, you whore. -Back in s1, they showed a picture wall with what I think was an adult Mads. I really imagined he might not have vanished in this timeline. Ulrich is probably too busy whoring around to really be invested in this lifetime. -Hannah and Katharina need to lock their doors when they leave. It's not healthy that Jonas can just wander in like that. -Love the references to fast growing Mikkel, and how he's all of the sudden old enough to take care of himself rather then an eight year old who couldn't/wouldn't in season 1. -Totally forgot that Ulrich was a policeman. I have no idea what anybody does for a living since no one has gone back to work in three whole years. -The Magnus/Franziska sex scenes are still unnecessary. And boring. -So, if Hannah lives with Ulrich, whose bedroom (or whose house) was that? -I thought the three Generations (not sure what else to call them) were actually versions of Bartosz. -Ulrich, you whore.
  9. Finished the series. Jeff really is a sleazebag. Who only owns one outfit (with many holes). Things that stood out to me: 1. The chimpansees. 2. Erik going full blown alcoholic. You can say a lot of things about Joe's employment tactics, but for some people it did apparently keep them afloat for as long as it lasted. I hope he is/was able to turn his life around. 3. Bucktooth getting his shitty tattoo replaced by an even shittier tattoo. 4. Poor future Lowe baby. Who the hell advertises for nanny positions with booty shots? I hope they know there will be an actual human baby to care for, right. 5. Josh saying that being subpoena'd by the Feds was the scariest thing that ever happened to him. I figure he willfully blocked the whole Travis affair out of self preservation. 6. Howard Baskin is a man of many talents. 7. "I had to buy pants for court". Wait, what? Everyone appeared in their everyday outfit to testify anyway. I think one of them even wore shorts.
  10. It's an okay series. Sort of a no hill climb storywise but entertaining enough. Everyone and everything is very clean looking for Victorian England. They even have electricity and nightlights. On episode two, and while it's weird now to see people crowding together (it's been a month and yet it seems like a very distant past) to watch/play soccer.
  11. Oh, it's not that I was downplaying it. I felt awful for him too, don't get me wrong. I hope at some point he got some counseling for that. I only saw the footage and I feel like I can never unsee it. Let alone be in that room.
  12. Episode six: - You know what saddens me most about the whole Travis thing? That his mother has nothing left of him. I'm sure his box of ashes is still gathering dust in that shitty bedroom. And that Joe never really thinks of him anymore. - I'm sure "campaign manager for Joe Exotic" is going to be a hit with Brad's (I think it was Brad) future employers. Especially the part where someone blew their brains out not five feet away from him. - Weirdest.Funeral.Ever. - So the game is to lure 19 year olds, seduce them with promises of tiger keeping and ply them with crystal meth?
  13. Episode 3 and 4. "That fire killed seven of my crocadeens" just made me laugh so hard. I am probably too easily amused. You wouldn't think a guy like Howard Baskin would agree to get married in a caveman get up. Those wedding pictures were really something. Also, the "Here Kitty Kitty" video. I just ... wow. If I were volunteering somewhere and someone handed me a dead rabbit to feed to my preferred tiger, I would run and never come back. What a bizarre thing to gloat about. re: dead husband I don't know that you can compare chicken bones to human bones. There would be evidence left in the tiger cage for someone to clean up after. Basically, I spend most of my viewing thinking everyone on this show is a complete and utter asshole for their own special reasons.
  14. It was an okay season finale, not mindblowing but okay. So, are we to assume Narek was safely returned to his glass prison on Coppelius? I'd hoped for a cliffhanger, though. Not sure what season 2 is going to be like, perhaps with more stand alone episodes. I am not sad to see Narissa go. I don't think anyone is.
  15. I was joking, but I didn't know he passed away😕 (I didn't get that far yet). No, his whole attitude just screamed like he was somewhere he wasn't sure he wanted to be. Perhaps due to drugs but I kept thinking he might have run away from home or just walked out of his life without much of an explanation.
  16. I am also in the camp that says all three of our heroes are basically peas in the same pod. They all think they're saving the tigers, but they're not. Taking newborn cubs away from their mothers so they'll be rejected is not only dumb but downright cruel. It makes them more mallable for hand rearing and public performing, but they will never be able to survive out in the wild if given the chance. They are also phasing out that aspect with every new generation being born. I think Carol's dead husband was probably caught speaking to a low level "volunteer" (just wtf with that system?) and therefore had to die. One does not acknowledge the slaves until they wear the right colour t shirt. I think somewhere out there, Travis' parents are still searching for him and local authorities hope to find him alive. No way he wasn't co erced into that poly bullshit marriage.
  17. The Hansel and Gretel angle just made me roll my eyes. It took me three quarters of this episode to remember who Josh Radnor is. And he lead his own sitcom for a million seasons. You know that there were concentration camps that had their own bands and theatre groups? They were considered as valuable prisoners and depending on where they were held, kept alive solely because they were able to compose and perform (and keep up pretenses). This wasn't a general thing, and their fates once they left that camp became equally insecure. But I don't think they were shot point blank like that. It just galled me to see those scenes. We were shattered – until the German officers started clapping in the front rows. The scene with the matchmaker lady, though. That just resonated with me. Yeah, Jonah is an idiot. But so was everyone else for leaving him alone with Rockstar Nazi. Mindy and Murray are a hoot though.
  18. It was compelling enough for me to continue. Could have done with Jonah being such a snot for the first half of the episode though. When did the grandmother go about all this Nazi hunting and killing in her old age? How did Jonah never notice blood stained clothes or her coming in late from a killing spree? Inquiring minds will need to check out more episodes to find out. I also must have a high treshold for torture porn because I just found it over the top but not traumatising type violence.
  19. Santiago Cabrera just magically improves everything he features in. Why is his emergency hologram thing British? I loved that he used the accent in the first scene and then it appeared to fall away whenever he had to emote with it.
  20. It was compelling enough. Until they fell into the trope of someone releasing an evil spirit from a well. Do these people not watch horror movies? Nothing trapped in a well is a good thing. They are in there for a reason. For that matter, whoever traps these beings should also destroy said well lest someone gets in their head to set the creature free. I was literally yelling this at my screen. I was also pretty disappointed that the villain is basically a spoiled brat in a cocktail dress.
  21. So now we are done. I'm going to need a minute to find my bearings post emotional rollercoaster so this may sound unhinged. - Being the semi adults that they are, Nancy and Jonathan could have gotten their own place. Just saying. - My heart broke for El when she was reading that letter. So much. - I am very willing to believe that Hopper is alive in a Russian prison. I don't think I want to do this show without David Harbour. By what exit did they sneak him out? Does the evil eye lead to Russia? - Oh, Max. - Other favourite moment, when the Demogorgon picked up the walkie and wailed into it. - Skipped the musical number because it wasn't necessary. JUST SAY THE DAMN CODE! How much time did they waste with that anyway? I was happy to see Suzie was real, for like ten seconds. - Loved this season, even though the first few episodes felt annoying and not in line with the previous seasons. -So much love this season for the Steve/Robin dynamic, Alexei, mad adventures involving a Cadillac, and for bringing the 80's to life. Bring on season 4.
  22. Sitting on the hood of the car? Paraphrasing, but Alexei felt the fair was not meant for him (maybe because he has led a closeted life) because he wasn't American. Murray replies that he doesn't have to be American to enjoy it. I just loved that just before he gets killed he calls Murray buddy. It's like the only word in English he knows. Oh, Alexei. You were truly my favourite character this season.💔 I've been lagging for a while, and I only have one more episode to go.
  23. Dammit, show. Why couldn't you have been flogged to Netflix or Amazon?
  24. I'm sure everybody knew/knows. Over time, the anger might have dissipated into simmering resentment, though. I don't know to what extent the real Royals are allowed to watch the show, but I'm sure this was one of those choke on your drink ones because none of it really rang true. I'm going to third and fourth Charles not being in the know about his uncles Nazi sympathies. Isn't that standard history book material? I also thought the Duke of Windsor died later then 1970. Oh, so that's where I recognise the actress who plays Camilla from. I've watched Call The Midwife on and off and I don't keep up with the revolving door nurses.
  25. Episodes 9 and 10, now I am done. And somewhat confused. Those people exiting the tunnel, what exactly did they think they were walking into? I thought Kido would get more of a comeuppance then whatever it was he was planning to do after his son left. Oh, Helen. I pretty much held my breath in that scene with Jennifer. So incredibly well done. Liam lives. Because there must be light at the end of the proverbial black widow tunnel. What happens to children of former Nazi leaders when their parents die? What happens to a child like Amy? I hope Childan found his wife in Japan, it seemed like a cop out to not show us at least that. I think it would have been a better finale with an added 20 or so minutes. I felt like they didn't have enough room to properly finish up all these characters so Childan and Jennifer and Amy lost out.
