At least they're making him endearing now, as opposed to just creepy/weird like in the first few episodes. I like this Connor now. There's more to him than meets the eye. I hope the show keeps letting him evolve. Yup and those were the hours when my husband managed auto repair shops. Honestly I don't think we've ever seen a customer in the place, have we? I don't know why they haven't gone down that road. There are lots of comedic opportunities there. I have to say the portrayal of the shop itself is a little disappointing to me. I get what they're trying to do with Ruben but I'm just not finding it funny. The shop itself does look REALLY authentic, especially for its time, though, I have to hand it to them! Yeah, and not much better used on Ebay. That's probably because most of them are vintage since the company discontinued it in 1996. Although I read on Google that they came out with a new one last year. Why it's so expensive I don't know. You can get much better synthesizers for less these days.

Actually the reason I wrote to her on MyChart in the first place was at her request because she wanted to know how I was doing on the new medication in case any adjustments needed to be made, especially since I am so prone to bad reactions to medications. And I didn't want to delay either because it could go on for months before my BP got any lower if I waited to see her for every adjustment. So she knew I was going to contact her that way because she suggested it. She told me to give it a week or so to see how I did on the drug and if I had any issues to let her know. There is simply no way I would have been able to handle this in a reasonable amount of time if I had to make an appointment to see her every time just to give her an update, especially since the drug wasn't working. I had to find out from her whether to increase the dosage and by how much. And as it happened, I had to do that a couple of times because I still wasn't seeing any results. If not for contacting her this way it would have gone on for months just to get to this point. And forget it, with BP that high I didn't want to wait that long. She had me increase it to the maximum dosage and it was only then that I asked whether she could prescribe me something else or an add-on because she had told me that one or the other might have to happen. So I wasn't doing anything other than what she had told me to do. And it was then that the assistant told me the doctor wanted me to come in. In thinking this over I realized that one of the reasons the lack of communication from her or her assistant bothered me is because not only was I worried about my health and not feeling heard or respected, but because so many of my other doctors are actually VERY responsive if I write with a question or concern. So in context this felt out of the ordinary. In fact it was even out of the ordinary for her. But also, I am beyond frustrated with the slowness of everything I do medically these days. I feel like I am constantly going for appointments and having tests and taking new medications and getting no closer to resolving anything. I had a nothing fall last September that barely grazed my leg but now the lymphedema in my right leg is a little worse. I went to see a specialist who sent me for a test to get a definitive diagnosis of lymphedema because I didn't have one and that was needed to refer me for therapy. So of course that didn't happen until October and it wasn't until November that I met with a lymphedema therapist. But then she was booking way out in March for the actual 6 week course of therapy. I had no choice but to book it because there are so few such therapists in this area. I tried to find one but got nowhere. And that's only ONE of my super-frustrating medical situations. And it's not for want of trying to resolve them. -

I did wonder if maybe she's just got too much going on right now but the waiting room was so empty both when I got there and when I left that I was left scratching my head over it. Although there have been times I have waited to see her or someone else there over an hour but that is not that common, although it never was like that before the pandemic. This is a big hospital with many doctors operating out of this one area. It's the "internal medicine" department. I often wonder why there aren't more patients coming in for appointments. It's a decent state hospital with a very good reputation so I don't get it. I have heard they are facing some financial difficulties, though. I have wondered if my dr. is struggling with work/life balance. She was on maternity leave for almost a year starting in 2023. Until a month ago I hadn't seen her in about a year and a half. I had appointments with fill-in doctors and residents during her absence and I usually see specialists mostly, not her anyway. And of course things keep changing and I think maybe she's got a lot on her plate right now both at work and at home. I am actually used to having doctors explain why they want me to come in so that's one thing. The other is that I have felt recently that I have been asked to come in unnecessarily. I have had that happen a few times. And I mean really unnecessarily. I had to return an orthotic that my podiatrist had made for me that didn't fit right. I figured that maybe she wanted to see how they fit me and that's why I had to come in so I just went but when I got there she didn't even look at my feet much less me wearing the orthotic to show her how it didn't fit right. I spent less than 5 minutes with her and handed them to her and left. Nothing was done but that. I was confused because I thought we were going to talk about the bursitis in my toe and my bunions. But no. And she charged for a visit. I could have just handed them to reception. I had actually done that once before so it's not like it wasn't done. I was pissed afterward because I cancelled another appointment to make myself available for that one. There have been other times I was called in unnecessarily as well by other doctors. Again, this never used to happen before the pandemic. So this is one reason why I asked why I had to come in in person. I gave up on the custom orthotics BTW. It seems that not even advanced technology can create one that doesn't really hurt my feet. I have better luck with Dr. Scholl's off the shelf. -

That's a great way to put it. I'm sure a lot of people are grateful for the easy way out, lol. The show acts like this is a step up for them but in my experience some network shows go over to streaming and die. -
Yes, Kyle is half white and half black. His mother has an Italian name, something like "Assunta Concetta". Actually, that sounds very Sicilian. A lot of my female Sicilian relatives had those names. I agree about him overusing the word "sexy". It was especially revolting coming from him because of his big ego and pardon the shallowness, but his physical unattractiveness. I do not want to be forced to think of Kyle and the word "sexy" next to each other. Blech. 🤮 When I was young we used to call someone like him "conceited". Or we'd say, "He thinks he's all that and a bag of chips", lol. Ummm......no!!!
-
According to Kyle himself on this thread on Reddit, he was born a man, has always been a man and is gay. He also has an identical twin brother: But I already knew that. Early in the season when they showed pictures of the chefs as kids, Kyle was very obviously a boy.

I have never been a "higher needs" patient until now. I have several complicated issues now in my older age and more concerns, but I am not in constant contact with my doctors and never have been. I am just used to doctors (even her at one time) that didn't just blow off patients that asked one or two questions. Things have definitely changed in the past couple of years. Now they have a message at the top of the message function of the site telling patients to be respectful and and kind. I have never been anything less than that but now some of the doctors and staff are not being as respectful of patients. So I guess it doesn't go both ways. At least she addressed my issues in person and I was nothing but positive and respectful of her and the resident during my visit with them. I have to wonder, though, why they recently felt they had to put that message up warning patients to be respectful. Could it be because like me they aren't getting the level of attention and respect from their doctors that they had come to appreciate in the past? I really wonder about that. I get it that some patients can be terrors but other than asking these two questions I have never been anywhere near a "high maintenance" or "disrespectful" patient. Even when a doctor treated me in quite a shocking manner once a few years ago in person I remained quiet in his presence about it. I was so shocked by his behavior I didn't even know how to respond without blowing up at him and I didn't want to do that. -
Exactly. And children are watching this and thinking this must be normal, acceptable behavior because after all, the president does it and the American people voted him in. I'll never forget the way he mocked handicapped people. Truly disgusting. And people will ignore all of that for a few things he said he would do that they think would benefit them? I remember when my husband was grappling with his feelings about Trump. I used to tell him that there were saner more decent Republicans out there (at least some of the ones in the past) and he didn't have to support Trump just because he was the Republican candidate. Obviously he saw that for himself after a while. And now he considers himself a true Independent. He is disgusted with the way the party has sold any soul it had left to this guy.

Yes and that was helpful, but the point was that the doctor or her assistant should have told me that because it wasn't immediately obvious to me. I didn't know that manual BP monitors were more accurate or that I might need to learn better ways of using mine to get more accurate results. A lot of people don't know that and this is my first time getting such high readings so I had no idea. Being told that by them would have helped. I would not have been upset with them at all if they had done that. -
None of the final chefs were anywhere near being incompetent. I thought they all were excellent.

So a woman and a Black/Mexican aren't DEI enough to win? I sure hope not. I think Gordon saw himself in Kyle but Gordon was never as bad as that. It's too bad because of course some people would think the reason Kyle isn't liked by some is prejudice, but that's not the case with most people I've seen. They don't like him because of his immature and egotistical behavior. Again, sad. I'm 5"1" but I don't seem as short as Hannah and my husband agrees. He says I have a "bigger personality". Hmmm....Maybe that's the reason she lost, not her height. Too mousey? Still, I would have preferred her to Kyle, and I somehow think most of my state would probably agree. They don't call CT "the land of steady habits" for nothing!

It's not even just his personal relationships but his past record of unethical and dishonest, corrupt business behavior, of which New Yorkers like me go way back with, and many more selfish and narcissistic things about him that don't add up to someone that is capable of truly helping anyone unless there's something in it for him, and even then that's questionable. And his record as president is more of the same. How any of the Christian right thinks he's a true pro-lifer is beyond me - this man couldn't care less about unborn babies, he just wants to stick it to Democrats and socially liberal people in general and continue to have the backing of people that are easy to dupe. And if women have to suffer because of that, he has zero conscience about it. He's always working off this massive grudge against Democrats because those are the people he felt rejected by way back when, incidentally for being a corrupt, piggish, morally bereft person that screwed people in the back for his own gain. They didn't reject him for being a "Republican" (he was even a Democrat for a while). They rejected him because they knew he had no scruples and knifed people in the back for his own gain. Unfortunately where leaders are concerned, they need to have ideals and ethics. You can't just ignore that dimension and think they're going to do right by anyone. Not everything is transactional. It has to come out of true values not just "you scratch my back and I scratch yours". That's dangerous, because there is no honor among corrupt people with no real ideals (and thieves, BTW). They can turn their back on your in a hot minute if cornered or it benefits them. As soon as Trump doesn't need you, he drops you like a hot potato. I don't know how any Trump supporters can sleep at night when their kids can be looking at this guy as some kind of behavioral role model. Do they tell their kids not to be like him but he's still doing right for the country anyway? How does that add up? Incidentally, as a person who looks at things through not only an ethical but a psychological lens, young and impressionable minds can see what he does and how nasty he is in general and think it's OK because if the president does it, it has to be OK, right? Either that or the hypocrisy of their elders is not lost on them and they become cynical. So it's no wonder our society continues to go down the tubes. This guy isn't going to take anyone back to some kind of "promised land" - in fact, just the opposite, he's leading us straight into HELL. And don't tell me that Biden, Harris and all the other Democrats are just as bad because they are not anywhere near as corrupt and immoral as this guy. In many cases, in the final analysis it's just the opposite and they are holding onto true ideals and trying to live them. Imperfectly for sure, but at least they have that moral foundation to work from. I will stake my stellar reputation as a good judge of human character on that. I don't listen to the media. I judge people based on my own standards based on known facts and my own eyes, not what people say about them. Yeah, actions DO speak louder than words if you don't deny what you see and you know the difference between a charlatan and an idealist.

@Soapy Goddess, my husband was a Trump supporter and voted for him in 2016. He read all his books, admired him as an example of a genius businessman, the whole nine yards. He wanted to believe in him but thanks to his willingness to listen to facts, good common sense and true Christian values (not the corrupt ones of the Christian right) he saw the light about Trump and now comes to me ranting about his crazy behavior, prejudices, narcissism and misogyny. And this from a man who was a boy scout Republican that would rather mug his own mother than turn on the party. But he DID because he has a mind and a heart and doesn't live in a fantasy world that he can't let go. He had to face reality and it hasn't been easy on him. I just wish there were more Republicans out there and others that voted for Trump that could see the light like he did.
-
For the life of me I don't understand women not seeing this man as morally bereft and a misogynist. What has come out of his own mouth is more than enough to find repulsive and insulting as a woman and yet Republican women think it is "irrelevant". How on earth would someone like that be able to do right by women? I don't care what someone wants to do, if they are that corrupt, sexist and piggish in their personal relationships they're not going to be any better by their constituents. They're going to use them for their own gain at their expense in the long run. Because it was never about helping you, it was always about aggrandizing his own ego. You can't make a deal with the devil and expect that he's going to somehow do right by you. It doesn't work that way. But I suppose this time it'll be different, right? Or you're going to tell me he's honest and true about doing right by the country and his followers. Even if he were, the cockamamie, hair brained, half baked stuff he has tried to do in the past two weeks has shown that he's not even capable of doing right by anyone. He thinks he can run the world like a dictator and a real estate mogul. I am sorry but he is going nuts and is demented with delusions of grandeur at this point. It's truly scary. Thank goodness we still have some sane minds in the government that will call him on it and won't let most of it happen because most of it is illegal and unconstitutional.

I didn't say JFK was a saint. He was far from it. I said I don't think the public, especially Republicans would have just accepted his behavior and he would have paid the price for it. Unlike with Trump where he can basically do whatever the F he wants with women and his followers don't even bat an eye or think it's bad enough to see him as anything but someone to admire and trust. It's interesting that you can be so critical of JFK and yet completely hand wave Trump's behavior with women other than his wife and act like it's nobody's business. Imagine if Biden had a history like that with women. Republicans would have been calling for his head on a platter! It just amazes me how Trump supporters don't see the inconsistency in their opinions on this subject.
-
True. Even if they looked at it they're primed by their media to believe that they aren't really accomplishments anyway. Or that Biden didn't do them. Or that they are not the "right kind" of accomplishments. I too worked at Burger King when dinosaurs roamed. In my area no kids work at fast food restaurants anymore. I see some working in supermarkets doing stuff like bagging and stocking but that's it. It's a different world now. No, not today but back when I was a teen there was a different work ethic. And I hate to say a different level of maturity about some things. My husband and I have very recently had that kind of conversation and we suspected they were too. By some. I know just what you mean. I felt that way back in 2020 and do again right now. It feels like there was a rift in the spacetime continuum and we branched off on some kind of horrible dystopian timeline that should never have happened. Even 20 years ago if this movie we're living in right now were made people would have panned it as utterly ridiculous and unrealistic. I know kids through friends and through their kids' friends and around here none of them have done or are doing typical kid jobs. There has been a trend toward treating teenagers as children which makes them unsuited and unwilling to go out and get these jobs. And I suspect that employers don't see them as suited and willing either. Most of these jobs are done in my area by adults that come from poorer neighborhoods and immigrants. My Godchild is now 23 years old. She is the youngest person I know about that started working as a teenager - in her case at 17, when she started working at a local dry cleaner. She dropped out of college then got a job working in a supermarket bakery. Now she is working at a Whole Foods bakery. Another person I know of is one of my best friends' daughters who started working Summers as a teen at a local Ben and Jerry's, then after college worked her way up to district manager. She eventually left the company and now at 32 works for a big insurance company. Her brother did roofing in the Summers and his other sister waited tables at a local diner/joint. But they are all in their 30s now. I think it's more rare for the teenagers now to work around here.

I realized 3/4 into the episode that it wasn't half bad. I consider that progress. But yeah, seeing that Mary will be making a visit next week will make me go back to wishing the show had more of the original YS cast in it every week. I still can't get over it. Meemaw especially was a very popular character. Miss her, Missy and even Mary. It's hard to be reminded of them every week and not see them.

I came out a ladybug. I knew I would be one, it's me to the core. My husband is one too I am sure. Don't look in our closets, LOL. 😉

Well I wasted the hour and I'm sorry I did now. I agree with you 100%. Kyle says he can't wait to live in CT. Well, I have news for him, we can wait to have him live here. His brand of smugness and big ego isn't going to go over big here and I'll bet he'll think this place is as boring AF anyway. He's going to have to grow up and dispense with the immature attitude to fit in here. I am completely gob smacked as the British say that Gordon would pick him over Hannah or Egypt. Gordon really missed on this one. I don't know what's gotten into him. He usually would not react well to Kyle's type of attitude. I've been watching Gordon for a long time and this just makes zero sense. I found out that people online are divided about Kyle. Either they love or detest him. That doesn't bode well for a job at a Ramsay restaurant. What gets me is that some people can get away with acting like a "bad bitch" with all that "sass" and other's would be flayed alive for it. I don't understand why he can get away with it, especially with Ramsay. I was looking forward to going back to the Foxwoods HK restaurant and maybe seeing Hannah or Egypt. Now I don't even want to go back again ever. I'll go to the Shipwright's Daughter instead. It's likely a much better restaurant anyway. Sorry Gordon, just telling the truth.

Also I have had doctors recommend meds. to me right there on the message app. many times. Or the assistant would talk with the dr. and get back to me on it. No need for a meeting to discuss it much less an in person one. It's done all the time so I wondered why not this time? What was the reason? It turned out that they wanted to take my BP with a manual BP monitor because they are considered more effective - something I didn't know. That's all they needed to tell me. It was really NO BIG DEAL. Telling me the reason she didn't respond to me is because she said she'd talk about it in her next meeting with me didn't answer why I needed the in person meeting in the first place. It's like when a kid asks their mother why she wants them to do something and the mother responds, "because I said so". I don't know about you, but my mother never said something like that to me. She respected my questions. So excuse me if I expect the doctor to respect them too. -

Yeah, I don't really want to pursue that right now but I have wondered about it. Interestingly the sleep app (Samsung Health) I use actually records me snoring and tells me how much time I snored and woke up during the night. I have listened to a lot of it and nothing sounds at all like the examples of sleep apnea snoring on YouTube. In fact I recognize that kind of snoring and gasping because my husband snores like that and I can't get him to address it. I sleep with earplugs because of it. Also the sleep app is telling me I wake up a normal amount of times during the night. I realize this is not a professional study but I do find that interesting. I think my biggest issue is a messed up sleep cycle that I can't seem to get back on track. One of the problems is insomnia and then not getting enough sleep, then falling asleep early and only getting a few hours, waking up and not being able to fall asleep again so I end up staying awake for a few hours before going back to sleep. Sometimes I feel great doing that but sometimes not. I was dealing with this with the buspirone I was taking for a while and that really helped me fall and stay asleep, but I had to come off it because it was actually making me anxious - a strange but known side effect for this anti-anxiety drug. I was taking it not for anxiety though, but because it helps with stomach issues, which I had after my gallbladder removal. Those have cleared up now so I don't need to take it anymore anyway. -

Telling me she wants to discuss it at an in person visit doesn't answer my question which was why it had to be done at an in person visit. Geesh, I didn't think I was being so unreasonable asking for a reason why that had to be the case instead of an alternative like a phone call or a Zoom meeting. It wouldn't have taken that much for her to tell me the reason and I don't think it was proper or nice of them to just blow me off on it. I have a lot of things going on right now so coming in is very disruptive. But I guess my time as a patient isn't considered valuable nor do I deserve an answer to two simple questions. Wow. 😏 Have people just become so used to being treated this way that they now defend it? Or do they get away with treating people this way now so they want to defend it because it's now somehow considered acceptable behavior? I spent my career having to be very careful how I engaged with clients, coworkers and bosses and it was just not seen as cool or acceptable to blow people off like that over a simple and reasonable set of questions. I would have had poor evaluations from my superiors and bad relations with everyone else and could have lost my job over it. I am simply floored that I have to defend my position on this. Thank goodness I don't have to explain it to friends and my husband or I'd really think the world had gone mad. I already do but at least not because of them! -
Costco shoppers have nothing to do with the price of eggs in my supermarket, which are about $7.00 a dozen for large right now. And the shelves are stocked there because people are not buying them at that price. I keep hearing that trope over and over from Trump supporters. That's a big myth. Whenever Trump opens his mouth people think he's doing something. He is NOT. All that big talk is just smoke and mirrors! Most of what he is blathering about right now (and even some of the executive orders) is not even LEGAL or Constitutional and the rest of the gov't., including some Republicans are not even supporting it much less able to let it happen. A lot of it is either going to go away altogether or be dialed WAY back. So much for Trump "running the country", LOL. 🙄 Meanwhile Biden quietly got tons done but no one except his supporters were paying attention to it or gave him credit for it. It's incredibly unfair and incidentally, contrary to the right's assumptions, the so-called "liberal" media was only making that perception worse by not making a big deal about Biden's accomplishments. Instead, every time Trump spewed BS they reported it like a front page headline, making him look like he was "getting things done" when he was NOT. I am sure there are many people here who can provide the "bullet points" to back up Biden's accomplishments better than I can!

We'll never know how JFK would have dealt with it had the public found out about his affairs. AFAIK, Trump has never apologized publicly for his behavior or done any kind of public soul searching to show that he has realized his wrongs and reformed himself like Clinton did. So yeah, let's ask Hillary.
-
The difference between the two of them and Trump is that they didn't do it openly and brazenly in public. Also, you can't equate Clinton's indiscretions with Trump's, there is no comparison. If the public including Democrats had found out the truth about JFK while still in office it wouldn't have been kind to him especially back in 1963 (I was alive and conscious then and even at 5 I would have been CRUSHED to hear such things as JFK was an idol to a lot of people). Meanwhile Trump's followers don't even care about his vile, misogynist and piggish behavior which he did publicly for anyone to see. "Oh, nothing to see here, folks, this doesn't affect his ability to be a good father or leader." This from the party of so-called "family values" that supposedly stands for good moral values and wants to punish people and strip their rights for much milder behavior that doesn't even hurt anyone. It boggles my mind. The hypocrisy is not lost on me.
