  1. Yeah, and putting an anti-vaxxer in charge of the Dept. of Health and Human Services can cause far more harm to the public than Jenny McCarthy spewing about it online. She doesn't have control over public policy on vaccines.
  2. Thanks for explaining that - somehow that wasn't clear to me. The way she was gushing about it made me think it was for them to live in. I was confused. I don't know if the show explained that enough for people like me that don't always follow details like this. I did wonder because I thought we already saw them buy a place for themselves - or am I mistaken about that too? Because I just can't keep up with these people and their constant house buying, etc. Thanks for the compliment - same here back at you! The thing is I don't know if I'd ever seen Christine not wearing makeup before this. If a man wore makeup all the time and then I suddenly saw him without it I would probably say the same thing if I felt it. I just thought she looked kind of washed out and I do know that that is one reason people, even men, usually wear some makeup on TV. The camera and the lighting washes people out a lot and makes them look much paler than in person. Even if it's just some powder and blush or bronzer a little can go a long way. The "no makeup look" is often done for TV just to counteract that washed-out effect. Some of the people we see on TV we don't think of as wearing makeup, but many of them are. Just not eye makeup or much other than powder. But I don't think Christine was even wearing that. And she normally wears makeup on TV, probably to avoid that washed-out look. So she obviously doesn't prefer to look that way on TV either. Maybe there wasn't enough time this time for her to put any on for the camera, who knows? I've read that one of the reasons men don't normally wear makeup is because their facial skin is thicker and so they already have the benefit of that. I'd have to agree with that to some degree depending on the person. It's certainly not about anything sexist that I commented on Christine's lack of makeup, though. It's purely an esthetic thing. Also we are much more used to seeing men without makeup. If Christine never wore it I probably wouldn't have noticed any contrast in her appearance for better or worse and wouldn't have said anything.
  3. Even more coincidental is that on this week's episode of "History's Most Shocking" they featured a very similar video of two women being swallowed and spit out by a hump back whale. It seems that they only eat small fish and can't handle something as big as a human so that's why they spit them out.
  4. My eyes are reeling from all the eye candy on this show lately. First Kaya's morgue guy roommate, now loan. Wowza! 🥰😍 I thought this was a fun, creative episode, although I agree that all of Elsbeth's fumbling with her eye issue went on too long and got in the way of the rest of the episode. When Elsbeth and Kaya were talking with the suit guy they were standing on the plaza of the Chase Bank building in the Financial District. I recognized it right away because the Treasury building is right across the street. I go way back with that street because my mom worked in the Chase building when I was a kid. I didn't mind the flirting between Elsbeth and Angus but I don't think they were quite ready for that kiss. But yeah, it's Valentine's Day so I guess I'll roll with it, lol. I do hope we see Angus again.
  5. Yeah, it made me feel wistful for Sears.
  6. LOL, you're welcome. But knowing me, I probably would have given it to you anyway. 😉
  7. It's actually that hump back whales' mouths and throats are not designed to be able to swallow or break down humans or any large creature so that's why they spit us out. They feed on small fish that swim in huge schools. It's only when humans get close to them when they're feeding on those fish that they accidently get scooped up along with them. I learned that from watching that show.
  8. No doubt a little trimming and re-allocating is always necessary in government. But taking a sledgehammer to essential services and agencies is not the way to go about doing it. He thinks this makes him look like he's "getting things done". In reality he is undoing a lot of things that are necessary and will only cause a ton more problems and government spending without them. They are not picking and choosing the right things to cut and cutting them to a degree that benefits no one. But it looks great to people that don't see the implications and that's all he cares about. But even when it starts to affect them they'll find some way to blame a Democrat for it anyway, no doubt.
  9. That's a little too oddly specific a change for me not to think there was a deeper motive behind it. Trump doesn't do anything just because he "loves America" or that can't also have a positive spin put on it. It's his way of having the part of his base with a conscience that wants to believe he's well intended not see his true motives. He always gives them the option to put on the rose colored glasses about him. But he has been more than public with his feelings about Mexico and how it hasn't given in to his demands to his liking, so there is that. At the very least the name change is a snub, an attempt at showing Mexico who's boss, and intimidating it into submitting to his demands. I am sure that if Mexico was heeling to him he would never have made the change. No one gave 2 craps about it before including him. It's straight out of the "make a deal by intimidation" chapter of his book I am sure. Also, Mexico is the point of entry for immigrants from many nations both in Central and South America and beyond and he holds it partly responsible for that.
  10. That's interesting because just a few days ago I watched an episode of "History's Most Shocking" on the History Channel and it featured a video of 2 women whale spotters that were swallowed by a whale accidentally and were spit out. It happened on a whale spotting expedition where people went out in small boats to get up close to the whales, I forget where. Interesting coincidence!
  11. Yeah, like I said above. It wasn't just about giving away the money, but that combined with having to see all the love and attention the brother was getting for giving it away and how it made him once again feel like the less beloved one. It was just rubbing salt in an already open wound. It didn't just grate on his nerves, it was his worst nightmare of his youth taken to its most extreme degree. And I can see the motive in that.
  12. I couldn't agree more. I wince every time it comes on and fast forward through it. I usually love any excuse to insert a tango into something, but it feels like chalk on a blackboard here.
  13. Although I agree with most of the criticism above, I didn't completely hate this episode because it at least had some kind of tie-in with YS and the appearance of Mary and Pastor Jeff. I just wish it had been with a better plot. The constant conflict between Mary and Audrey was not entertaining or funny. And the mention of Sheldon and his agreements only made me sad that he wasn't around to make that part of it funny. The fact that Lorre etc. have put so many limitations on the previous cast's appearances is not working out well for this show. Why they thought it could stand on its own when this is the kind of stuff that results is beyond me. And even Mary and Pastor Jeff being in this episode didn't help as much as it should have.
  14. Finally caught up with this. Christine is ecstatic about her new "house", which she apparently chose without David being a part of the decision. Meanwhile it's not even a "house" but at best a townhouse condo., and not a very big or nice one. Tile floor all through the main floor? Microscopic upstairs bedrooms? No thanks. I would have thought they'd she'd choose something a little bigger and nicer. Even David mentioned the small rooms. The beds barely fit in them. You couldn't even walk around them! And she definitely shouldn't go on TV without makeup again. Yikes. Also, the not knocking thing felt a little ridiculous. I get it that this is a different part of the country but leaving doors unlocked is just not a good idea anywhere anymore. And acting like someone is not making you feel welcome because you have to knock is equally as ridiculous. Sometimes these women live in a 30 year old dream world.
  15. I found this photo online of Amirah with her parents. At first glance I thought her father resembled Karadec a little! Daniel Sunjata is of mixed race so it makes sense.
  16. But Amirah J, who plays Ava is (at least to me) very obviously not white. According to online sources she is at least part black. So I'd have a hard time seeing her as the child of both of these people not even factoring in eye color. And I'd have a hard time believing that Morgan wouldn't recognize Roman, disguise or no disguise.
  17. Oh for sure, but he and the right in general see rich liberals as big hypocrites because they benefit from those fossil fuel companies, either by financial gain from them or by usage which is larger than for the average person. So they see the big show they make about straws and such as hypocritical. But every effort we make is for the betterment of the world, although I agree that some people need to make a bigger effort than they are based on the size of their carbon footprint. And if they are benefitting from stocks and other things that come from fossil fuels they need to make some changes there too. But Trump and the Republicans are hardly the people justified to call others hypocrites, so that's definitely not lost on me. They should take the logs out of their own eyes first.
  18. Will it be a year or more? I was hoping it would come back in the Fall. You have your theory and I have mine. 😉
  19. I know this is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but I thought the whole bandwagon to get rid of plastic straws was well intended but not the big fish that should be targeted. There are bigger offenders to go after with regard to plastic waste. But stuff like that sticks in Trump's craw because he saw it as some kind of "liberal virtue signaling". But in his case he doesn't care about the environment at all so he just sees it all as liberal hypocrites latching onto something trivial to show the world that they're doing something to save the environment. And I hate to say it but I do think that was the case in some cases. Some of these people's carbon footprint is atrocious. But I just think there are bigger things to target, not that we shouldn't find ways to limit plastic waste. And there will always be hypocrites, but that shouldn't deter us from trying to save the planet.
  20. I'm sure you agree, but I don't think renaming the Gulf is intended to help everyday citizens of the US no matter how he tries to spin it. It was obviously done spitefully to intimidate Mexico. Psychological intimidation. And that's not rational nor does it get him anywhere. There are more civilized ways of getting other countries to agree to better terms for the U.S. All this does is piss them off and make them dig in their heels. And all of us citizens have to pay for that. Even if Trump had a point that we needed to get better terms from Mexico, this is just about the WORST way to go about doing that. He still acts like a schoolyard bully and it's embarrassing. The U.S. should be above that kind of behavior. It makes us look bad and nobody is going to want to deal with us. He thinks he can win by intimidation but I don't see them just bellying up for him, or if they do it will be temporary and in the meantime they'll find another way to get him back. Same with Greenland. And again, we will all suffer for it. See above. I have nothing against the name per sé but in light of the motive I believe was behind it I'm not on board with it. I don't believe there was anything positive intended by it and there was no real need to change it. He just wanted to show Mexico "who's boss". 🙄 Does America need that badly to aggrandize itself that it needs to change the name to something else? He really needs to grow up. Sadly, it's way too late for that.
  21. It's not because of what you say above that I would do a background check on a guy I was thinking of dating. I know a lot of women do it routinely, even friends of mine. The guy doesn't have to have given them reason to suspect them first for them to do it, either. I don't blame them. You can't be too careful these days. And it wouldn't have to be done just to find anything illegal or shady about him in the criminal sense but other information that would confirm whether or not he's been honest with her about himself. Like if he was ever married or divorced and didn't disclose that, or if he has a child he doesn't live with and didn't disclose that, if he is where he told her he's from, or worked where he told her he worked, etc. There's a whole lot that may come out on something like that that he may have been honest about with his employer but not with her. It would prove whether or not he's telling her the truth about himself or potentially hiding something.
  22. What I don't understand is why Morgan hasn't looked into Tom's background just to be on the safe side. I mean, people run background checks on new dating prospects all the time these days so why wouldn't she? I would think that her of all people would be a little suspicious. If we are then why isn't she? I don't believe that she's so confident in her judgment that she wouldn't feel the need to dig a little deeper with him.
  23. I'm with you on this and have said so previously. It's not quite conscious between them yet. It's still at that stage where feelings are shoved under the rug. But I am sure they will eventually come out little by little and either something will happen between them or it won't. But that's a typical TV show trope too, the "will they or won't they" setup. They could string us along for years with that one, making them more flirtatious as the episodes progress, driving the audience nuts, lol. Been there and done that many times before... No, definitely not Roman. Wouldn't he resemble his daughter a little more? I have a theory about that. Scroll down. Yes, the sexual tension between them was very restrained. I have to hand it to them. All businesslike on the surface but there were little giveaways in spite of themselves. I liked her dress a lot - I thought it was actually less provocative than her usual wardrobe. Yes - I think perhaps Roman went in hiding to avoid game guy who was after him years ago. Now that game guy is feeling in the wind that Morgan, etc. are closing in on Roman he is targeting them to throw them off the scent. I also like the theory that Tom is FBI better than him being a bad guy, although I am still a little suspicious of him.
  24. Yeah, I have to say that Henry is getting more annoying lately and zeros in on slavery a lot. I enjoyed this episode in spite of him, though. I really liked Ruben and both of their ancestries were fascinating. I had forgotten that he broke the news to some people off camera.
  25. Yesterday my super-political friend tried to talk me off the ledge by letting me know of 3 special elections coming up this year that have the potential to flip the House blue. This Wikipedia page lists what they are and who they involve: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2025_United_States_House_of_Representatives_elections So there is a shred of hope left that the House may flip sooner than we thought it might. I thought I would share that here in case it helps.
