  1. I doubt Kate did anything to trigger his behavior other than exist as someone he is not interested in. I think Luke has probably been like this towards other women he dated, just not this early in a relationship. This is just the first time the behavior has been on public display. His behavior is extreme. People tried to say that about Amber last season, that the guy she had dated from the gym must have said something horrible about her and that was Dave's problem. But that was never the issue. It was that Dave just wasn't into her beyond a convenient sex partner. And as a result he felt entitled to treat her as though she was beneath him in some way.
  2. And he or his friends conveniently made sure he didn't go back home that night so that camera crew wouldn't have him on film completely drunk. The fact that he accused two people on the show of having a drinking problem is a red flag. When Keith shot him a glare the other week on Unfiltered after they played the clip for him making that accusation about Kate, it was very telling.
  3. Just thinking about the tweet where someone suggested that family and friends should approve the matches reminded me that there was a show about 15 or so years ago where the families and friends did help with picking the matches and then couples became engaged at first sight basically and then lived together for several weeks until they got eliminated and there were at least two weddings in the finale but each couple had one person who decided to say "I don't instead of "I do". None of the couples stayed together although I think one might have dated for a few months past the show ending.
  4. I think he was sure that smoking was going to be his out but Kate said it was a social thing and she was willing to give it up. We have not heard about it again since that moment on the honeymoon when it was bought up, so at this point it seems it was was just social smoking and she hasn't smoked since then at least during filming. As a result he had to grasp at something to make Kate at fault for how he was treating her.
  5. If silence to you is a matter of a few seconds, then that is your interpretation of silence. That is not how I see silence. We don't know when Kate said she had feelings for Luke. And that does matter. If she said it before he told he he felt repulsed and dead inside, it matters a lot. In the most recent episode it was in voice-over when we hear her say she has feelings for him. There is no way to know when she said those words and whether that was her full statement. Also when did she try multiple time to pull him into a kiss? List the episodes when she physically pulled him into a kiss.
  6. I've seen the clip in question. He wasn't silent. The moments you are calling silence last for about a second or so. And it is an interpretation to say that Kate pushed him into a corner. Luke had a choice and he could have chosen to be honest in a mature way. He could have said that unfortunately she is not his type and he doesn't see a future for them. Instead he went back into his lies about Kate drinking too much.
  7. You're getting into semantics now. He didn't stay silent, he kept being evasive ans saying "I know" or similar things because he prefers to say things to her or about her off camera because he thinks he can get away with it. That is not speculation because we know he told her off-camera that he wasn't attracted to her and he confirmed that he said he told her felt repulsed and dead inside both to Pastor Cal and on Unfiltered before he pretended to feel ill. . Dr. Pepper said on Unfiltered that Luke was not an honest guy.
  8. He didn't want to say it because he was doing his bad acting routine with the fake tears and needing to leave the room. Luke prefers to do his dirty work off camera. Or when he thinks people won't pick up on it. Like when he also tried to say Keith had a drinking problem several episodes ago.
  9. Luke wasn't staring off in silence. He was smirking at her during most of that conversation. He obviously had no problem telling her that he felt repulsed and dead inside after they kissed, so I don't buy the idea that he is uncomfortable telling her that he is not attracted to her. This idea that pushes him into a corner is silly.
  10. I think it was Dr. Jessica who pushed for Luke and Kate. Pastor Cal was against it, IIRC.
  11. Except the feelings part was all voice-over. We don't know when she said it and whether that was her complete statement. For all we know she was annoyed because they were supposed to film the stupid 1 month anniversary stuff and he blew it off and was being a douche about it. If he wasn't obsessed with ruining her, then the lies about the drinking would never have happened.
  12. No that is not what he said. He said " you know what bothers me, that you drink so much".
  13. How can she know she is getting sympathy from social media when the show was filmed last fall? Also I call bs on the claim she is pretending to want the marriage to work. She flat out said in the last episode it was fine if he is not into her. If anyone is a bunny boiler, it is Luke. He was the one that launched the drinking accusation at Kate that could have consequences for her long after the show finishes airing. He is creepily obsessed with ruining a woman he barely knows.
  14. This isn't true. Luke repeatedly says things that are contradictory to his actions. He says he cares about her but then talks crap about her behind her back. She flat out tells him it is fine if he isn't into her but then he lies and says the issue is her imaginary drinking problem. He says he doesn't want to beat her down and then does that exact thing. That is not consistent messaging.
  15. I'm aware that this is a different situation but you mentioned roommates being at 50/50 which is not always the case. The financial conversations as presented are stupid, especially since the couples don't have any joint expenses at the moment. But that is partially on the show. It would be one thing if it had been a one time thing where they had out their budgets, spreadsheets, and monthly bills. But instead it has been a recurring conversation that makes no sense. The producers could have had them doing more couple activities to have something to film and keep in the final edit but the show is being cheap this season. Instead the financial conversation is being beaten to death and then resurrected so they can go through the the process again.
  16. I'm guessing the contract would fine her a significant amount if she tried to break significant portion of it. And as I stated in a previous thread, if she had left but still agreed to be filmed it wouldn't have helped much because the audience would never have heard about the "repulsed and dead inside" comment Luke made and it would have been unclear as to why Kate disliked him so much. It also would have been edited out of any Unfiltered discussions. So even if she brought it up in an interview with someone else, people would just accuse her of lying. I kind of wonder if the show agreed to keep references to the comment in the final edit in exchange for Kate continuing to pretend that she wanted to be married to Luke. I don't think the show can force people to not file for divorce before a certain date, however the show does provide a divorce fund which would likely be forfeited if someone filed before a stipulated date. The producers on these shows are very skilled at manipulating people into doing what they want. Which is why I don't believe Dr. Pepper's weak defense that they didn't know Luke's true personality until after the wedding.
  17. Many platonic roommates do have something different than 50/50 on rent, especially if one bedroom is larger than the other. Both Kristine/Keith and Stephanie/AJ also have their chemistry and romantic aspect to their storyline too though. The problem is that each week, there is roughly 10 or so minutes devoted to each couple, less than previous seasons because there are four couples instead of three and there hasn't been an increase of time for the show. Condensing 40ish hours of filming each week down to to minutes is limiting in terms of what we know about each couple.
  18. I seriously doubt it. Dr. Jessica just always gives the guys a pass because she doesn't give a damn about what is going on in a relationship. If Kate had bad hygiene, then no one else would be around her either. Kristine is honest, she would have pulled Kate aside and said something if that was the issue. Instead, Kristine had nothing but scorn for Luke.
  19. The reality is that the days of one partner being the provider are pretty much over for most people. It is just not realistic. Most of the women on the show get that. Jasmine as shown on the show seems to be not accepting of reality. I think it probably has been exaggerated by the show but it seems odd that she seems stuck on having a breadwinner husband. Whoever Luke ends up with will end up supporting him because he is constantly trying a get rich quick scheme. I would bet he sunk money into at least one MLM like Primerica at some point in his life too.
  20. I also don't see the masculine or feminine thing. I don't think either Will or Jasmine are edited well by the show. Nearly every conversation they are show having goes back to financial stuff. It is extremely boring and limiting to how the audience views them. Will mentioned how they joke around a lot, but the audience never gets to see that. I think Will should have avoided the question by saying he doesn't like a rating system for people. Questions like that are always a trap and he should have avoided it. I don't think she should have asked it either but it also felt producer prompted.
  21. The show's contract protects the show from a lawsuit. It is unclear if one participant could sue another as an individual. However I suspect it would be an uphill battle and not worth the effort. Also a prenup has nothing to do with defamation.
  22. I hope she did go out and do something and it just wasn't shown.
  23. At least some of them already knew. I'm pretty positive she told both Kristine and Stephanie because of the looks both have given him. Jasmine probably knows too. AJ was told at some point because he aid something about it in one of his talking heads. Keith knows what Luke is like since Luke accused him of being a drunk too. Which now knowing what Keith's father is like makes me feel bad for Keith to be on the receiving end of that that because he knew he couldn't respond the way he probably wanted to.
  24. But if you look at when she said the "I have feelings for him" statement, it was all voice-over. So who knows when she said it and whether that was her actual statement. Something tells me it was frankenbiting to make her sound more weak and pathetic.
  25. I feel like things about A.J have been exaggerated in some ways. Some of the so-called blow ups were more him poking at or getting mad at production. The fake moving scene being the most obvious of those.
