  1. Or people could just stop watching reality shows. Producers do it for the audience. They probably read this board. Reality show producers love to make women in particular look bad. So the more people attack Kate, the more it fuels the genre. I refuse to play into that when I know that is what these people are doing. Kate is not the problem here the production staff is the problem.
  2. There is no way for Kate to have covered all bases. The show doesn't air until months later after it is filmed and edited down to create storylines. She can say whatever she wants to the camera and to Pastor Cal, it does not matter, the producers have the final say on what gets aired. The same with Unfiltered, she can put it all out there on Unfiltered, but they never have to show it. It is easy to criticize and claim she is a fool, but people essentially sign their lives away when they agree to be on these shows. The participants own nothing. They don't own the footage and they don't have say in what gets aired. Read what Irene McGee has said about her experience on the Real World Seattle season. She thought she had her bases covered too and that there was no way for the show to change the reason that she was leaving and she was wrong.
  3. Except Luke later confirmed that he said it when meeting with Pastor Cal. Something else we never would have seen. if Kate had left. And with Frankenbiting, they can make it up by splicing together conversations that had nothing to do with what happened. They could have taken the footage of her talking about smoking and combined that with something else. Reality shows do this all the time. They do it to create conflicts that never happened, hookups that never happened, etc.
  4. But this all assumes that the audience would have been shown the scene of Kate talking about what Luke said to her. If she had left, that never would have been shown. And if Kate were to bring it up after the season was over, people would just have insisted that she was a liar. Sonia actually did leave at first, but what pressured into coming back We never would have known what he said if Kate left. The production team never would have allowed it. And a reality show can make anyone look like a bitch or an asshole. A person could be the nicest person in the world but with all the footage they capture and the use of Frankenbiting, they can create situations and conversations that never even happened to make that person look terrible.
  5. The "bitch edit" can lead to very real issues that go beyond the show. It can cause employment issues and death threats are a big deal. Unfortunately these shows are allowed to get away with these contracts where the participants have little recourse.
  6. So? It doesn't matter why he decided to shout at her. The point is that he behaved that way and she was done. If it had just been the smoking, even if they had split, it probably wouldn't have been so contentious. But there was always more to it that production thought they had edited out but they still kept in him shouting at her on the honeymoon but people gave him a pass on. Just taking a quick look at his twitter tells me everything I need to know about his character and he has just gotten worse as a person.
  7. It wasn't just about Derek's smoking. It was about him being verbally abusive and shouting at Heather to the point that she was in tears. And Pastor Cal should have called that behavior out back then and he didn't because the show does not care. I mean there are people who do both but it is not common. It is possible that he meant he wanted to get a doctorate in nursing but who knows. It is also possible he is someone who thinks that nursing isn't good enough and that he needs to be a doctor.
  8. I don't think she is slow on the uptake. She gets that Luke is not into her. And I think that was what the first conversation about him not kissing her was about. She was trying to get him to just say it. I think she felt giddy and nervous about the wedding. But because Luke is being awful towards her and the producers are likely on her back about staying with the process, she has retreated within herself. When they were laughing at the end of the most recent episode, the laughter did not reach her eyes. I think she just wants to get through the remaining weeks and not have to deal with Luke. I really hope she was able to go with her gut on decision day and not feel like she has to stay in this beyond decision day. The show doesn't care and the experts don't care.
  9. We live in a world where meeting people is often reduced down to a dating profile. A dating profile present a limited view of a person. I don't think it is complicated as to why even men who want to settle down struggle to find someone. If you are an introvert, online dating can be stressful and your profile may not be the most eyecatching if you are being honest. I think it is a bad stereotype than a single man can have his pick because a lot of modern women are less willing to settle for glaring issues. While I think women are willing to compromise on certain things, others are not negotiable. And frankly that is why both Keith and Luke were single. Few women are willing to deal with a man who chooses to be so useless in domestic tasks, it is unattractive. When you learn that a man won't do basic things like cook or do his laundry, it is a turnoff. No one wants to work hard all day and then come home to someone who can't be bothered to share the cooking responsibilities. Keith is making a big statement to women with his refusal to do certain tasks, he is telling them that he really doesn't care enough about them to be helpful. From what I've observed is that men like Keith who don't do their share in daily household chores, don't pull their weight with parenting either. And Luke is just a jerk and few women are willing to accept that either.
  10. So it is a room full of rude people like her husband who can't be bothered to be polite or act like decent human beings.
  11. Offer her what exactly? Money? It is a cable reality show, none of the participants are making a significant amount of money. I know there are various high dollar amounts reported online but none make much sense. The only person who has truly made anything substantial from this show is Jamie and I guess Doug since they are married. The show doesn't have to offer Kate anything other than what is in her contract. She signed a contract to be on the show. Yes she could pull a Heather, but look at how people treated Heather. Heather was getting death threats from Derek's fans. She is going along with the producers to get through her contract and echoing whatever they tell her to say. Her words might say that "Luke is attractive" but her eyes tell a different story.
  12. You really think the show gave the audience the whole story about what really happened between Molly and Jon? After his weird actions after like putting an essay up about his experience on LinkedIn, there was way more going on behind the scenes then the audience was privy to. Something was very fishy about the whole thing.
  13. He didn't feel bad about what he said, otherwise he would have just admitted what he said to Kate. Instead he wanted to act like he didn't know what Pastor Cal was talking about. They might only get in bed together for filming at this point. In previous seasons there were some couples that barely lived together. They showed up to film, did the required hours per their contract and then do whatever. I suppose it is possible that production rented out places with 2 bedrooms, but I doubt production would be that considerate.
  14. I'm pretty sure Pastor Cal said something to the effect of Jasmine "might" make more than Will. Which in the unlikely event that they stay together she could potentially make more at some point.
  15. Or the grandmother will nag Kristine about why she isn't waiting on her grandson hand and foot. The grandmother might be nice but she has also enabled his childish behavior and dated expectations about marriage.
  16. Because grandmothers don't live forever.
  17. Adding a disclaimer doesn't make it any better. Maybe Kate is basic, newsflash most people are pretty basic. Luke is the definition of a basic white dude who thinks he is awesome despite having nothing to brag about going on for him. There is a reason that it never worked for him and a WOC and I think a big part of it was that he probably whitesplains as much as he mansplains.
  18. The problem is that he hasn't accepted it. He keeps going on and on about how Kristine better be a good cook. I'm well aware that not everyone likes to cook or wants to. Fine then make enough money to get take out or go out to eat. He doesn't make enough as a dialysis tech for that kind of expense. He needs to be a freaking adult and deal with the fact that he either needs to earn significantly more money or just learn how prepare basic meals. Let's be real. He lives with his grandmother because he is having trouble finding a woman willing to put up with that nonsense.
  19. Stephanie might just be bad at choosing men. A.J. needs to tone it down. Keith can help how he chooses to be outside of his family, he is an adult. There are countless ways to learn to cook, including numerous YouTube channels. Kristine asked him if he wanted to help get the food ready and he acted like she tried to get him to drink poison. He should have asked what she needed help with. Instead he acted like it was helpful to hang a few lights and light some candles. Jasmine and Will are both really boring. Yes, production does think the audience is stupid. There are examples of this from basically every season.
  20. AJ is strange. I'm not sure how much of it is his personality and how much is his over the top bad acting for staged situations. I would annoyed too if I had to pretend to pack anything other than clothing to move into a furnished rental. I'm assuming that work hours are agreed to be off camera, so he probably doesn't want chance being filmed working even if his job is computer based and he can technically work anywhere.
  21. Both Will and Jasmine are boring. Other than being afraid of heights and a Lincoln alum, I can't remember anything about him.
  22. I think there was probably abusive stuff from Ryan before the reunion day, it just wasn't a verbal threat captured by the sound/video team until that day. There was also Sonia and Nick. Sonia did actually leave but the show pressured her to come back and work things out. On decision day I think Sonia wanted to divorce, but was again pressured to say she wanted to stay married. I think there have been several couples where the women in particular wanted out even if there wasn't verbal abuse because the guy they had been matched with was just horrible. I think Danielle wanted to call it quits with Cody, especially after all his complaining about how they weren't having sex, but there was pressure to stay. I think Boston Jaclyn would have split with Ryan on decision day too. There was a lot of pressure on Season 2 Jaclyn as well, even when they revealed at the 6 month reunion that they had split, the experts were pressuring her to give him another chance.
  23. There should be but there clearly isn't after several seasons were there was at minimum verbal abuse. Reality show contracts protect the show not the participants. There is a lot of pressure for the women in particular to play along. Not just on this show but on reality tv in general.
  24. I think Kate is just playing along with what the producers want. When she talks about Luke it sounds like a memorized set of talking points they she was given. The moving scenes for all couples were mostly fake. They are all going to AirBNB type rentals for the next several weeks. So the amount they are actually moving is minimal because they went to furnished places.
  25. In that hobbies conversation, Kate also said she plays the piano and was getting back into it, so she has an interest in music too.
