MAFS Social Media, Spoilers & Speculation
aphroditewitch replied to Bella's topic in Married At First Sight
This is the eighth season and the show premiered in 2014. The big difference is that the Bachelor doesn't try to pretend there is any "matchmaking science" behind who they cast. But at the same time the producers behind the Bachelor have also been more upfront about their misogyny. Creator and Producer Mike Fleiss has even said that he doesn't want to cast any woman without a bikini ready body. Former producer Elan Gale has a history of misogynistic behavior as well. MAFS is misogynist too but the producers haven't been so verbal about it. Instead we see the constant digs at women with careers having misgivings about men who don't seem to be career motivated. Of course both shows push the narrative about how women might end up alone. Honestly I'm not sure most people go on these shows hoping for a lasting relationship. I think most want to be on tv and getting a romantic relationship is an extra bonus. The show has created several lasting friendships and that started happening even before they started to introduce the cast during their season. The season 2 women didn't meet until after filming ended and are became good friends in the aftermath. -

Or the guy is just like Mia. If the reality show part is true, then my guess is they are very similar people. -

Ashley might have been doing prereqs. Or she already had a RN degree and was doing online coursework for the BSN. She definitely graduated from nursing school a few years after the show. -

I can buy the idea of him going to nursing school, a lot of older students go to nursing school. Although as I said on a different page in this thread, I don't believe he was in nursing school when the season was filmed because there is no way he could have taken the time for the honeymoon, since the weddings/honeymoons were during the fall semester. Medical school is a stretch for multiple reasons. It seems added on because either Keith or the show still has dated ideas about nursing and men in nursing. -

I feel like Kristine and Keith could face similar issues about where to live, children, and careers. He talks about going to medical school but is not in one yet. There is no guarantee that he will get into one in the Philadelphia area, which is a problem since that is where Kristine is trying to establish herself as a real estate agent. So what happens if he were to get into a medical school in California, Texas, New York, or Illinois? Is Kristine supposed to uproot and start over or does Keith decide to be content with a nursing career. This is also an issue with having kids which Kristine alluded to because Keith is talking about a lot of school and then onto an internship and residency. But then he mentions wanting kids and five years, those two things are at odds because if school/career aspirations are going to keep you away from home so much, you're not going to have time to be a hands on parent. Keith needs to reevaluate because those things are going to be an issue for a lot of women so it goes beyond whether he and Kristine work out or not. And a lot of this in on the experts/producers because they knew that Keith was talking about many years of school ahead that could take him to a different city. And they knew that Kristine has a career. -

I think it is sad because I feel that they loved and cared about each other. But they did want different things and eventually that seems to have taken over everything else. They weren't a bad match so I don't blame the experts for this not working out because no one can predict how they are going to feel about their relationship four-five years into the future. -
But Kate also said to the other women that she wants to be married to a man who wants to be married to her. Which seems to be an important point. A lot of people want to be married and marriage is very important to them but that doesn't mean they want to be married to an abusive garbage human like Luke.
-
How is that any different than anyone else who goes on the show? They are all supposed to be single. Kate and her ex broke up because of religious differences. Which is completely different. I'm pretty sure only one friend went and Kate went along to the speed dating event. Also, I'm not sure what the point is there. People meet using dating sites, apps, or dating events these days. I'm not sure how Kate and her friends are some how less than anyone else for doing so. Although you may have inadvertently hit on one of Luke's real problems with Kate is that he looks down on people who go to his speed dating events. Which is why his business will probably fail. And probably part of why his other get rich schemes have failed too. Despite his mother's praise of his "hustle", there are no rewards from any of that. Otherwise he would not have a car that according to his own words he cannot afford. We don't know how many glasses of wine they had. For all we know Kate was done after one glass while her friends had a second. We don't know this information. And frankly, the drinking allegation was always a red herring. Luke did this to himself. He chose to lie, he chose to gaslight, he chose to accuse multiple people of having drinking problems, and he chose to be a jerk. No one did that to him. And when people who have met him like the rest of the cast and Jamie are all not having it with his lies, it goes beyond bad editing. We have not seen just one side of the story, we have heard from several people about what he is like as a person and none of it was flattering.

It would be nice to see Kate say she wants a divorce and list out why like Luke repeatedly saying he doesn't like her, they way he stocks the fridge with wine but accusing her of being an alcoholic if she drinks it, and just his general cruel behavior. And the experts should back her up on this. But this is MAFS so I'm expecting decision day to be a disappointment.

Cortney and Jason have confirmed that they are divorcing. -
Somehow I doubt that someone so unwilling to observe how other people are feeling is good in bed.

The last one gets it only partially correct. Dr. Jessica gave Luke a complete pass on Unfiltered. -
They didn't move though, they packed a suitcase and went to a furnished rental and I think that is what he was annoyed about. Stephanie was even laughing at one point during that episode when he was talking about how stupid it was. And it was stupid. We already know that the cast goes to furnished rentals for filming, except for the Dallas season, so pretending to pack up an apartment makes no sense and is a waste of time.
-
The whole workout class thing was stupid. There is no way that AJ and Stephanie would be in the same class because she is advanced level and he is a beginner. And even if he was not a beginner, anyone who has seen AJ would know that type of class does not suit his personality. A lot of people do not want to be singled out by a trainer like that. I workout almost every single day and I would not go to a class like that. I really don't like gyms or the general vibe they have. I prefer to workout at home and working out at home is the only thing I've ever stuck with and what has actually led to results.

My understanding based on statements made by the show's producers in various articles, is that the couples fill out and sign the marriage licence after the ceremony. So presumably that is when the prenup is signed. So while we see the wedding ceremony on screen, all the legal stuff happens off screen following the ceremony.
-
The couples do sign a prenuptial agreement prior to the weddings. The executive producer of the show is on record saying that all participants sign one before they get married. The link is from 2015 and some things have changed since the cast does now meet during their season, but I doubt they have changed the prenup part because there is no reason to do so. The no annulment has nothing to do with the show and it in state marriage laws and divorce laws. I'm not an attorney but I know people who are and the legal criteria in most states for an annulment is very narrow. https://www.thewrap.com/9-married-at-first-sight-burning-questions/

Especially since they were wearing the exact same clothes from the dinner they ate in the one month anniversary episode. I get that someone might repeat an outfit on the show, but this just seemed like the show didn't have anything else they would work with because Kate or Luke, perhaps both were resistant to having to film together. I feel a lot of uncomfortable conversations and accusations happened much earlier then what the show implied.
-
There hasn't been much revealed from any of the former cast in a long time. There was a lot that came out of season two. Sean was cast because he had known Doug for years. Then there was Jessica's lawsuit because Ryan had threatened to kill her. I'm not sure what happened with her lawsuit. I'm guessing it was either tossed or quietly settled. And it was revealed later that none of the couples from that season had truly lived together during the show and basically had showed up to film. But it also didn't help that they had cast people who lived so far from each other. I kind of feel like Kate and Luke did not live together for part of the current season because during the terrible car ride, Kate said something about "but when we lived together" or "when we were living together". I would have to rewatch it which I'm not really interested in doing.
-
She probably over plucked her brows circa 1997 and either kept at it or they just never grew back. She needs softer and warmer eye shadows and some tips on blending since that also seems to be an issue. The brows she should try to fill in more but not go overboard because overly filled in brows can also look bad.
-
It seems to be speculation about couples have stayed together even when it was clear that they did not really like each other. But nothing has been confirmed by either the show or past participants from what I have seen. The show also could have changed the contract to state they have to pretend they are going to stay together. I think Dr. Jessica was able to get Jon out of his contract because she wanted him for herself.
-
What money? I don't think they make as much as I have seen various articles claim. I doubt they are getting more than $10,000 before taxes for the entire season. And more realistically I would actually put the real number they get much lower than that. As far as I know, a contract has never been leaked from this show.
-
Earlier in the season Jasmine mentioned her previous relationship. She and the ex were together for several years and I think they lived together. According to her, they split because he did not want kids.
-
I feel like Kristine and Keith could be the Lilly and Tom of this season. Great chemistry and they seem to really like each other and will probably stay together on decision day but they have different values and goals which could lead to a split months after decision day.
-
Kate and Luke were wearing the exact same clothes when rewatching the wedding that they were wearing when they ate dinner during the one month anniversary episode. Completely lazy on the part of production. Did they literally have no other footage of Kate and Luke eating alone that they could have used during the one month anniversary episode? Which then begs the question of did they actually split earlier and it was later edited to look like things lasted longer.

I really want to have an eye makeup intervention with Stephanie.
