  1. This episode is a hot mess. Dean for next Bachelor? Um, no. But I like that he spoke up about the Lee situation. ETA: But if it was down to him and Peter...I'd take Dean any day.
  2. Re: Rachel/Dean During the HTV episode and after the rose ceremony, Rachel told Dean that her reasons for not giving him a rose had to do with her belief that he was not ready for a commitment (marriage and etc.). But isn't that a clear example of the inconsistencies of what she says and what she does? Because Peter has continuously told her he wasn't ready to commit or was unsure whether he could commit and yet, she keeps giving him a pass. So, obviously, her excuse to Dean was less than honest. Was the real reason her discomfort with his age or something else? She seemed passionate about him and he was the only person at that point that she actually verbalized that she was falling in love with. A lot of her decisions do not make sense outside of this possibly being heavily producer manipulated and/or semi-scripted.
  3. And that was mine, hours ago. Next time you may exercise your right to ignore my posts that you do not like and I'll do the same to yours.
  4. Why are you quoting me then? Anyway. You're late, the discussion moved on a long time ago.
  5. Re: Cheek implants from Miami to Abe Lincoln
  6. We see things differently for sure, but it's been nice having a civil chat with you about it. :)
  7. The marry him comment was an attempt to lighten the mood. :) Nothing more. Re: To propose or not to propose that is the question No he's not obligated to propose, but he surely didn't mind dragging it out until the 11th hour. I'm sorry, but if we want to talk reality, let's talk reality, multiple sources have spoiled that he is not the F1 and that he most likely exits right before the Final rose. But if we take the show at face value, by what has been shown so far, he was never going to be the F1. He gave her nothing. Nothing. That isn't about not wanting to propose on a reality show after several weeks. That's just plain uninterested, and he knew this long before Spain. You say Rachel should have ejected him and that he doesn't hate her. But I haven't accused him of hating her, that's an extreme comment. I accuse him of being insincere about his purpose for being on the show and his level of like toward her. This is romance, not friendship. He didn't want romance with her, and I'm stating that in itself was dishonest. If he's so straight-forward, he would have said that, and yes, then with all the facts out front, she could have eliminated him. But he didn't, so here we are. I'll leave it at this, we'll all know what's what come finale, and after BIP when they announce the next Bachelor. If it goes as I suspect I cannot wait for the cognitive dissonance. I predict pages upon pages of excuses and mental gymnastics.
  8. Yeah, I noticed that too. Where are these supposed death threats? Most people like to screencap those things for proof, and plaster it for everyone to see. As for blocking I don't think there's anything wrong with doing that if someone's harassing you online. But if someone is disagreeing in a respectful way, blocking them seems petty. But what can we expect from #PettyPeter? You are so in love with him! lol Girl, when are we planning the wedding? That's if you can get him to commit.
  9. I honestly don't mean to be snarky, but is this really a defense? People keep repeating it but it makes no sense. Sure in reality proposing marriage after three dates might seem ludicrous. But, he went on the show! He knew what it entailed! He signed the contract! He knew the deal! They all did. Even if we give him a pass on that, he sat for weeks with the knowledge (because she repeated it time and again) that she wanted a proposal at the end. He could have self ejected a long time ago, if that's not what he wanted. I have a theory: maybe he wanted to be on this show not to find love BUT to 1. Gain name recognition to broaden his business opportunities (he wants to open his gym right?) 2. Become The Bachelor 3. Get a free luxury vacation (six countries in one swoop!). Makes sense to me. Look, I don't think any of them come on this show to truly find love. At least not anymore. Maybe some of the women did when it first started. But now its become a platform to success in entertainment or to gain other career opportunities they otherwise would not have gotten. I do not believe it's about romance for the contestants and for the producers it was never about romance nor accurately depicting reality.
  10. If he's made the Bachelor it will be interesting to see how it will be framed considering his "storyline" this season. Will also be interesting to see what kind of women he picks as things progress. I won't be watching, but I will read the spoilers and recaps and snark away.
  11. I fully agree. It has definitely become mainly about Peter. I took a peek at their social medias and craziness was all I saw. Just complete lunacy. So many are invested in this as if their own dating lives are on the line. One person actually said as much. Then we cannot ignore the pink elephant in the room: Race. The emotional investment in this is in another stratosphere right now and I think that just points to the sad reality of where society is right now. I'm sorry and no offense to him, but on paper, Peter is not the cream of the crop kind of guy. He's no Prince charming, and based on his performance on this show even less so. In fact, he doesn't even match up well to Rachel for a mate. Neither does Bryan, Eric and a few others cast. However, set all that aside for a moment and consider the fantasy premise alone. Most of these men couldn't even sell that. Peter being the main culprit. If Bryan wasn't so over-the-top with it, he might have sold it, but he didn't. They couldn't give us the romance! The Disney story. so what's the point? Now, Andrew Firestone may not have been the hottest man to ever lead The Bachelor, but I loved his season because he at least fit into the fairy tale of being affluent, accomplished and most important, ready for love. He played his part well. Peter cannot convince us he cares beyond his next outfit change and camera pose. I have my issues with Rachel (namely her motives for coming on this show given its track record and whether it was worth it given what has transpired), but I think it's sad how others are attacking her looks and everything under the sun, while giving this basic man a pass.
  12. Nick's season is the first I've watched of The Bachelor in a long while and this is my first season watching The Bachelorette. But I have never in the past noticed the kind of fanaticism that's happening with Peter. Not for this show. What the hayle is it about him? Is it the salt and pepper hair? I don't get it at all.
  13. Frankly I don't like the timing of any of it. It's all suspect. The whole situation from how this season's Bachelorette has played out to the events during the taping of BIP, all reeks of manipulation to feed into racial stereotypes. CH hates UnReal but this season's B'chette and BIP are surely playing out like a season of that show. They're messing with people's lives in a real world way, with potentially grave real world consequences. Pretty gross!
  14. Well there goes that theory. But I still wonder who started this rumor? Because it does not look like he has cheek implants. Just a family trait. Like Peter's gap teeth.
  15. So, let me dip my toe in crazy BN conspiracy theory land and take a guess that production prompted him to say that. All this cheek implant talk has been swirling around the net since shortly after the premiere, so considering that the show was airing while they were still filming, I would bet, they put that little kernel in the guy's ear during their interviews, and he repeated it. He needs to stir up a rivalry at this point, and well, he desperately wants that Bachelor gig. And let's just say, Bryan and his family have the MJ family plastic surgery plan. Instead of noses, they do cheeks. Who cares? I care more about whether he's selling us a real love story or not. Bryan is failing miserably, a close second behind Peter, who cannot even phone it in at this point. Rachel tried, but even she is struggling to make it convincing at this point in the show. At least the finale looks like it might be good. They might finally show us something convincing but too bad it comes too little too late.
  16. Re: Uppity I've learned a long time ago to not engage with anyone I suspect is unwilling to empathize, understand or at minimum open themselves to another point of view on issues dealing with race. I felt the same way about that comment as Chick2Chic, but I knew addressing it was futile. Especially as a Black woman. The minute you reveal that you are indeed a Black woman and that - that A. B. C. action was offensive, the walls of resistance goes up from those who are unable and unwilling to consider the message due to the messenger. Dr. Joy Degruy can explain inherent bias, coded language and living while Black (woman) better than I. So here goes: I guarantee if Dr. DeGruy had called that woman out before her sister-in-law did, the outcome would have been very different.
  17. Season two had some moments, but it was overall an epic fail. It had tons of potential, and like the show it's parodies it could have handled the social commentary around having a Black suitor better. I mean if they're going to go there, they must handle it better. Since they didn't, it torpedoed show. We're lucky there's going to be a season three, because after season two, I wasn't sure it would survive.
  18. Why do we have to wait so long? *cries* Now more than ever I'm dying for a new season! Since Freddie's show was cancelled can they please bring back Adam for season 3?
  19. As soon as I saw his father, I knew where his cheeks came from. Cannot believe this is an actual debate. Cheek defense squad. You never fail me internet. LOL
  20. Actually I agree, with your point about some/many people not thinking Rihanna and Robin are gorgeous and I could have phrased that better. beauty is indeed subjective. But I stand by one thing, I think generally many would say Rachel is at minimal, attractive. Even if she may not be their type. As for Something New, I saw that movie one time when it first came out. It took me a minute to get what you were referencing, but now I do. When Simon baker's character told Sanaa Lathan's character that he wanted to see her with her natural hair (or something like that). Well, I don't know and I'm not in the business of tearing other women down about their looks. However, the quick photo I saw of his ex, doesn't lead me to believe that he has an issue with minor enhancements. She looked well made up (make up, hair ,and such). She didn't look like some natural, carefree, makeup free woman. She looked like she puts in some extra effort. Just saying...Models, including Peter himself are styled to the hilt as well. Beauty-->subjective. By the way, I did not like that movie for various reasons.
  21. Maybe. Men are visual beings first. No matter how much they try to deny it. But I see a few problems with making a bridge from his comment to his possible dislike of Rachel's look. One, underneath the makeup, eyelashes and hair, Rachel is naturally a very attractive woman. I think she's a cross between Robin Givens and Rihanna. I have yet to meet someone that has claimed those two women aren't gorgeous. Second, Rachel is very fit; athletic with curves in the right places. He's a fitness trainer, so I would think he appreciates that. His hands on the group dates don't lie. Third, he referred to major surgical body enhancements. A lot different than make up you wash off at night, eyelashes you can peel off, and hair extensions you can remove in less than an hour. I don't like the make-up, garish eyelashes or hair extensions and I blame the make-up artist this season for certain. But to say Peter's put off by it, nah, I wouldn't give him that easy way out. Guess what, he saw all that on day one, day two, and so on...if he didn't like it he knew where the door was.
  22. This is what makes me side-eye her along with the rest. How can you not see what your family and half the world already see so clearly? Unless, you truly don't care, because you're just playing a role and have no intentions to marry this person or any of the guys from this show.
  23. I admit I've been out of The Bachelor Nick/Rachel are the first season's I've watched since Jake P. and Vienna, I don't know the details of the perks they get after the show ends. But wow, I mean the vacations, clothing, and exposure of being on television is enough to see why people do it. I didn't know that ABC sets them up with jobs too. Now, that really makes me wonder. Would I be willing to fake romance and make a fool of myself on national television to have my dream job? Hmm.
