In Memoriam: Entertainment Industry Celebrity Deaths
DollEyes replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Before Denzel, Viola, Chadwick and Halle, there was Sidney. His talent, his strength, his intelligence, his dignity, his decency and his humility were second to none, onscreen and off. Some of my favorite movies are his, such as "A Raisin in the Sun," "A Patch of Blue," "The Blackboard Jungle," "To Sir, With Love," "In the Heat of the Night" and "Lilies of the Field," for which he won his well-deserved Oscar. His direction of "Stir Crazy," one of the funniest movies of all time co-starring Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder-one of the best comedy duos of all time-is a testament to his talent. His involvement in the Civil Rights movement proved his willingness to risk his career and reputation because of his commitment to fairness and equality for the Black community. His contributions to the movies and to the world will never be forgotten. Rest In Power, Mister Poitier. -

Iconic doesn't even *begin* to describe Betty White, onscreen and off. She was a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul who made the world more beautiful, just by being here. I hope she's having the best reunions with the casts of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "The Golden Girls" and Allen Ludden. RIP, Ms. White. You were truly golden, before and after Rose knew Dorothy, Blanche and Sophia. -
Her Cold Open monologue was classic, but the jokes about Facebook, especially the one where she called it "a complete waste of time" was priceless-and, as it turned out, all too true.

S47.E06: Jonathan Majors / Taylor Swift

Arguably the longest 10 minutes of TS's ex Jake Gyllenhaal's life. -
My verdict: great! The look, the acting, the action, the costumes, the score and the direction are all on point. This might be the movie that I'll risk going back to the theater for. Between Marvel and DC, it looks like Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis are making big money moves lately and I'm here for it! 🤑

Yay, Hamilton! Loved seeing some of the OBC, especially Renee Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo and Jasmine Cephas Jones, aka Alexandra, Eliza-and Peggy. -

Terri Vaughn. That sketch would've worked if at the end, Rege' Jean-Page was hiding backstage. -

I did and Ewan was good, but IMO he wasn't the best. -

Yes, Kate! It was a tough category, but she pulled it off.
