  1. Wow. Duggar data had Jessa announcing her pregnancy on the 10th. Well then.
  2. JD managed to curry some public favour with the whole "I have to be the big brother now" after Smuggar's various scandals and the courtship/marriage with Abbie. He was probably rewarded accordingly.
  3. I would be like "Ewwww gross" more than anything with letting Lissy go barefoot. But then I realized this is Cousin Famy's boutique and the Duggars are probably their only customers so eh.
  4. I suspect Jinger was like the kid in Kid Farm who was hiding in a dryer to get some alone time.
  5. It's not like DWTS is that strenuous either. Carrie Ann already has stock critiques ready after doing it for years. She probably just has to show up to see dress rehearsal performances and then wardrobe/make-up/hair. Then she will just cry on cue for one contestant. Criticize another contestant for a lift. Tell a medicore contestant that they are doing amazing. Blah blah blah.
  6. Time to earn your keep Giddy-up. At least you will have a skill to get a job, unlike most of your cousins.
  7. It's interesting because the Duggar system was built on isolating rather than fostering healthy relationships and boundaries. Most of them seem to be in competition with one another in some shape or form and Anna herself has been a participant. I often wonder if any of them actually do have dear friends (and not "dear friends" for the camera) or if the concept of friendship is totally lost on them.
  8. I'm actually not surprised they forged some sort of friendship. Liz is deeply religious. Also not surprised Phil and his mother Alice weren't particularly thrilled with the Grahams either. John Oliver did a piece on televangelists a few years ago. Yes it's a bit different than what Jeremy is trying to do but I can see how some of those men got where they did. I can also see why Derick failed with his grifting. He's not a good rat faced bastard like Pastor John Oliver, Mega Reverend and CEO (praise be, praise be).
  9. Hey! Lauren married 'Siah. That's charity enough, amirite? I'm going to go to Hell when I die...
  10. I was watching a documentary on Elizabeth II last night and about how she invited Billy Graham for a private audience when he visited the UK in the 1950s. It lead to a friendship that lasted until Graham's death. Anyway, they were showing old footage of Graham and he was very charismatic when preaching in London. Now it's a different time and Billy Graham probably had a lot less competition than he would have had he be starting out today. He also seemed to have a plan to succeed, while it seems none of those three have one.
  11. She's aiming for her own fundie Christian version of the Donna Reed Show. There's no other explanation.
  12. Carrie Ann must have really wanted this gig. They took their sweet time hiring her as one of the permanent hosts.
  13. What they want and what ends up happening are two very different things. I'm noticing more and more that my peers who are close to my age and Jeremy's age are relying more and more on parents to make ends meet. Whether that is intentional or unintentional is a different discussion and whether it's guilt tripping or feelings of parental obligation, yet another discussion. Probably in Small Talk. I've been having this discussion way too much lately, especially watching people my age crash and burn financially. Hopefully Jeremy and Jinger don't put the Vuolos in that situation. Just pointing out that the Vuolos could probably shoulder the burden. Unfortunately I think they'd enable Jeremy further with his lifestyle rather than try and gently push him into doing something other than posing for Instagram.
  14. If push came to shove, the Vuolos would likely be fine as long as they keep their family small. I suspect Jeremy's family is fairly well off and could shoulder the burden of supporting JinJer and their brood, as long as they don't have a large brood. Austin always has his parents' campsite. As Smugs is the golden child, the Smuggars and M'kids probably don't have much to worry about either. It's the Dillards, Seewalds, JoKen, and SiRen so far that have to really think about their financial future. Granted I think Cathy might be in the vein of the Vuolos and would support Derick financially regardless. The Seewalds, Caldwells, and Swansons don't strike me as the type to have money to help out their children if things went south. Don't know much about the Burnetts to make that determination yet.
  15. It's crazy how fast it's changed in my time. When I was doing my undergrad the profs had 5 business days to post grades or else. My chemistry profs were notorious for holding TAs for 24 hours straight after proctoring the final exam to mark to make sure they made that 5 business day guideline. Now it has become "When you get to it you get to it". Granted we have some outside forces going on at the university I currently work at and the Registar and department are loathe to nag for grades because of it. We are extreme outliers as a result but it's not uncommon for students to wait for a while now. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he doesn't have them back.
  16. Someone was posting a while back about how we all thought that JB would never marry off the J'Slaves and Joy. I truly thought that too. I think what they have as a set up is almost worse because we know most of the children are going to be heavily reliant on JB and Michelle for $$$ once the TV money finally dries up. Now Derick and Jeremy could go out and get actual jobs, but neither seems like job type people. We don't know about Ben but he was heavily groomed to be at TLC's beck and call at such a young age that it may be hard for him to find actual employment when it comes down to the wire. The daughter-in-laws so far seem to be from families looking to get rid of another mouth to feed. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of Kendra or Lauren's sisters married off to the twins and Jason in short order.
  17. Is Dean's list by term at Arkansas? Here it's by GPA in overall year.
  18. Probably not until the 7th. Only professors trying to get tenure and teaching profs (and that's a huge maybe) tend to even contemplate student marks during winter break. I had a tenured prof write a reference letter for me on Christmas Day but those profs are the exception and not the norm. I didn't even need it that soon, he just happened to be working when I sent the email that day. A general rule of thumb with universities. If it's not done by the time school closes until the next semester, forget about it. They ain't looking at it until they are back in the office.
  19. It's bad. I want to believe Becky in the third row is real.
  20. How much longer until Sinner Twin is snapped up? Someone must be looking to offload one of their mouths to feed to the borg.
  21. "I'm going to get you back for putting all these fucking bows on my head before I could talk. I will be in further correspondence with Sam and Yaaay on how to get out of this circus once I can crawl."
  22. No. His name is Dan but he couldn't spell. I think one of his typos was Dna and it stuck. I went and found his Facebook profile earlier and his spelling is still that bad. I always wonder if he has a learning disability.
  23. The parodies of Dna were great. A cry for help and The Dae of Dna. That pairing was a strange one. Now Emily is an atheist and Dan is more devout than ever. I'm surprised Emily hasn't scrubbed her old blog from the interwebs knowing what she knows now. And yes, it seems they've split up.
  24. Damn. I wonder how Sarah Maxwell feels when she sees her 43 year old sister-in-law pregnant again. Does she feel jealousy or hope that maybe she will get to have a family of her own too?
