  1. I'm glad women are criticizing the gathering of the older women who've been abandoned by their men. So I'm not going to add more to it than that. I guess the whole New Orleans trip is forgotten now? No follow up to buying a home their, picking dicks out of her pussy?
  2. If they're drawn in part by burning loins, why not get a hotel room first? Scared of NYC hotel bed bugs? Or the train is some timing thing, where something has to have happened by the end of the trip for them to take it further? Looks like this train journey ranges from 19 to 22 hours. So time for some sleep, a couple of meals. Or maybe lets either of them bail at one of the stops.
  3. I haven't watched all the early seasons of the different BD shows but it's clearly the case that every season now, they try to pick one or two cast members who have this threat of being fired hanging over them for big parts of the season. That drives a good chunk of episodes. So all these shows, it's about who's going to hook up with whom, who's going to be sent home, who's going to clash with whom, etc.
  4. 1) I thought a couple of the votes for Nelson were burn votes but then it gathered some momentum. 3) Also stamina. Jay ran back and forth more than CT to bring heavy objects. Then when they tried to open the shelters, CT was getting gassed moving things away from the door.
  5. Well under Lindbergh, US never does Lend Lease, presumably. US poured billions in materiel to all the allied nations, including over $30 billion to the U.K. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lend-Lease Lend Lease started in 1941. Even with Lend Lease, US had to enter the European theater, though Soviets were tying up a lot of German resources. Even if Lindbergh doesn’t directly send troops against allies, it helps the Axis because Germany Doesn’t have to fight a U.K. being supported by Lend Lease. Same for Russia, which also got over $10 billion in 1940s dollars. Or China which got US aid to fight off Japan. That means a stronger Japan which doesn’t have to fend off the US in the Pacific Theater can attack the Soviets from the eat or from the south through China.
  6. That would be awesome. Or 3 red skulls mean you are safe from elimination the rest of the game. And say only 2 players of each gender can earn 3 red skulls. But they’re going to play up the elimination drama. I think the mission on this episode probably took a long time so they could have made it take up most of the 90 minutes. However the drama comes from the voting and the politicking. Did Jay untie all of CTs knots? Or did CT mostly make a big knot in the middle but didn’t bother to run all the ropes and chains to prevent Jay from being able o open the door? Seems like the latter, Jay still had this giant knot but the. All of a sudden, he’s opening the door. Maybe CT should have run the ropes through the back of the shelter and through cinder blocks. Seemed like Jay worked a lot more carrying more stuff from the pile to the door and then he was tiring himself removing the few big pieces CT put at the end. But CT got more worn out removing all the heavy things in Jay’s pile. Oh and Rogan saying he wants to go into elimination, he may be stronger but there can be a difference between stamina to carry weights repeatedly vs. lifting weights for body building. Jay was right, he has a chance as long as it’s not some tunnel collision where guys bigger than him would have an advantage over him.
  7. Right they will pull out nuclear missiles and point them at US troops but they won't torture US soldiers who were caught within Pakistan armed to the gills because that might upset Americans. 🙄 And you're right, Carrie is not at fault here. It's all just a little collateral damage.
  8. And if she didn’t get it? She was chasing a lead with no guarantee of success. But she was ready to get those guys caught by the Pakistanis. and in his reality, apparently Afghanistan an Pakistan don’t care about US aid. Because they defy anything the US asks it’s supposed allies.
  9. One thing which should be noted. Evelyn definitely caused the Levin family to be transferred to KY. She assumes because Sandy didn't get lynched there during a brief stay that it's fine for the whole family to live there. She said it's for their own good because the FBI wouldn't hassle them there. Then she had the neighbors sent there, because she thought Philip was best friends with that kid. Was she oblivious to the discrimination they'd likely face or that Herman probably wouldn't be able to keep his insurance job there? Or was it deliberately trying to screw them over, including her own sister and nephews?
  10. Maybe it's drawn out more in the books. The narrator is Elena when she's like 60 and looking back on her life. So of course she knows what happened but the show makes it appear like she was completely blindsided that Nino liked Lila.
  11. No Carrie didn't pull the trigger. But she unnecessarily put those men in harm's way by getting them arrested. Remember that at first, they were willing to go down shooting in that safe house but were ordered to stand down. They could have been beat up in the jails or worse.
  12. Yeah she left that house party to go to the beach because Lila was doing it with Nino, her dream man. She said something in the voice over about not having confidence. May not have used the word but imparted the same idea. Donato also said "you probably don't think you're as beautiful as your friends" and she said it's true, she doesn't look at the mirror or something like that. Both Lila and Lenu are sexualized in this culture, long before they discover their own sexuality. When Lila did that dance at the party to beguile Marcello, she realized she had some power with her looks. But as she said, she didn't know what a kiss was until Nino kissed her. Lenu did want to have sex but just satisfied Antonio, not seeking her own pleasure. She mostly fantasized about kissing Nino but little else. Similarly, has Lila ever enjoyed sex with Stefano? If they're typical of the wedding night, probably not, though she knows she can manipulate him to a degree by being affectionate sometimes. Remember also that Lila condemned Marcello for taking some of the neighborhood girls for rides in their car to sexually assault them, even threatened Marcello with a knife if he touched her -- though that just was an aphrodisiac for him. The male obviously get to enjoy the sex or sexual assault. Maybe among the females, only Pinu seemed to derive pleasure. But of course, she realized she liked Bruno more than her husband. Lenu could do worse than Bruno, who was crushing on her. In fact she did do worse on that beach. She didn't really like Antonio but was willing to sleep with him. With her smarts and some more experience, she should find others to like.
  13. Has Parker been talking about the breast feeding crack all season? Seems like it? One thing to get offended but it must be 2-3 weeks in? Georgia mentioned that Jenna has been slacking. So if Jenna and Adam sleep together in the master cabin, the other girls have to clean it up after them, like they were guests who were going to leave them big tip money? If they were friendly with Madison and Georgia, the girls probably wouldn't mind too much. Especially if Adam served up good crew meals and Jenna didn't crack the whip too much. Madison is more than a little annoyed that they're allowed to hook up. Georgia isn't saying but if she notices Jenna isn't doing her work, then the division of labor not being even or fair probably would bother her. On a real charter yacht wouldn't there be rules against fraternization? Or at least if they're going to hook up, don't do it on the boat, get a hotel room or something. But of course, a TV show turns any such rules upside down. Dating and hooking up with each other is encouraged! If only the BD crews would go skinny dipping every season like VPR!
  14. When Lenu rushed over to Nino, thinking that he’d shower her with affections since Lila was leaving, thing that came to mind: Oh Elena, Elena, you poor girl. For a time she thought being the intermediary between Nino and Lila would be a good idea. Ultimately she covers for them so they can fuck. Young women being doormats is not a new thing. But Lenu decides she needs to claim agency so she will let Donato fuck her? Maybe she was feeling sorry for herself, more vulnerable to flattery in that moment. Though she did threaten him to stay away from her or else she’d have him beat up. I hope she sticks to the promise she made, not to seek out Lila or Nino once she was back home. Maybe also drives her to get away from Naples. As for Lila, probably the first time she was into a guy. Would she have done it if she knew how much Lenu liked him? Probably. She’s a little reckless, telling Stefano what she did. For a second, the camera showed a knife on the table. But like the time her father threw her out the window for being defiant, she doesn’t sense the caution, how violent men could be. How frequently violent they were in that time, that setting.
  15. Ironic that Herman is the newsreel and political junkie but Bess sees what’s really going down. She should have made the ultimatum earlier but how is she going to take the boys to Canada and support them? Probably rougher for a single mother back then. They knew enough not to go to Kentucky. What would be the point, he wasn’t going to sell many insurance policies there. Unfortunately, I don’t think Canada would be a long term answer. Without the US entering the war, the Nazis would eventually break through over Russia. Then either US invades Canada or stands by while the Germans do — Lindbergh doesn’t care about the Monroe Doctrine. Even before military action, Germany and US could economically strangle Canada.
  16. What is happening with Nico? Eve is laying low and apart from him so that V. don’t learn that she is still alive? Or I thought at the end of season 2 that V. didn’t intend to kill her. If she did, it wouldn’t have been just one shot. She’d have left no doubt, so I suspect that she knows Eve is alive.
  17. Yeah I guess it's a good networking opportunity, that one of her guests likes her from the block party and hires her for a more conventional job but one with more predictable income. Or one of the sponsors could hire her. Was it in the Sopranos that AJ was thinking he could make a career in event planning? Tony and Carmela were livid. 😅
  18. Let's say the block party happens, is a huge success, Issa gets some money. Then what? It covers her for a few months or maybe a year? She has a good housing situation but still going to be struggling for money, unless block parties are a huge boon that I'm not appreciating.
  19. They want to keep details about their private lives from each other, at least for the first 24 hours. He seems to want to know more about her than vice versa. How much influence did PWB have on this show and is there consistency in the characters she creates? For instance Fleabag isn't married, doesn't seem likely to settle into conventional married life any time soon. Eve was married but she was ready to become consumed with Villanelle. Maybe she goes back to her husband in the end but she was ready to drop the happily married wife role, at least for a time. All we know about Ruby is that she looked blasé, about to enter Target and go to yoga. She seemed to dread looking at her phone when it buzzed. Lawrence seems a little needy, both with all the texts about the goddamn speakers and then later when he's frantically trying to reach her. So maybe she was headed for divorce or suffer more years of a joyless marriage. But of course she has kids, a fact that they hid until the end of the episode. Of course it's hard for her character to be sympathetic given that she was ready to leave without saying goodbye to him -- she did compose a goodbye, I'm never coming back text to her husband but it's not clear she ever sent it? So after Succession, the rule is that characters don't have to be likable, just interesting. For now, I just have to assume there is more than meets the eye, more than a bored mother with a good career just immedately abandoning everything, for no good reason.
  20. Lawrence, she’s just not that into you. It took just one word for her to bail on yoga, two kids and hubby. Ruby leaves the car in airport parking, saddling her now ex husband with the bill. Probably charged the hair spray and the lipstick she didn’t wear for him on Lawrence’s card too. Billy and Ruby must have great sexual chemistry or something? At least more than them separately going to the train bathroom to relieve the tension? They’re going to show that Ruby isn’t this impulsive, irresponsible person probably? Because instead of ditching her life and affecting other people, she could have just snuck around and meet a Billy a few times in hotel rooms, without blowing things up, at least not right away. Then decide if she still wanted to break up her family. Now if she has second thoughts and misses her kids for instance, that would be conventional. If she has no second thoughts, even if she decides Billy isn’t all that, but she still doesn’t try to see her kids again, then it would be interesting to see where PWB is going with this. That’s assuming she’s creatively involved on this show, not just helped create the show and has already moved on to other projects. This is the first time I’ve seen Merrit Weaver in a lead role. Seems to have lost some weight since Nurse Jackie.
  21. First of all, there are all these extras you can access on HBO Go. You have to select them manually whereas in previous seasons, when you play the episode, they’d show you the “previously on” montage, the previews for the next episode and then the Wine Down with Issa and her show runner talking about the episode. I didn’t notice all these until after I saw the episode. It was confusing whether season 4 takes place right after season 3 or it’s a couple of years into the future like Season 4. Can’t be because Tiffany is still pregnant and Condola is still a new friend to Issa and girlfriend to Lawrence. Issa is just trying to have fun, avoid negativity. Of course she tried that before in season 2 or 3. She broke it off with Nathan, who had ghosted her. So now she just having fun with big TSA bae, even though he thinks sexing her up is like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube? She had come to like Condola before Tiffany spilled the beans. She’s going to try to work and be friends with her. But of course Molly knows Issa is kidding herself, as Issa imagining Lawrence and Condola fucking everywhere torments her. Meanwhile Molly decides after the block party to get real with Andrew, not play games. In the Wine Down, Issa says the two women are so close because they hold each other accountable, meaning they are truthful even to the point of unpleasant truths they tell each other. Issa also notes that Molly never has a longer relationship on the show, but her nature is to be “boo’d up,” Kelli on this episode wasn’t her usual loose cannon hilarious self. Hope they didn’t lose writers who wrote her funky lines in previous seasons. Glad Lawrence is back, after not being around for much of season 3. But I hope it’s no just as a prop, like a point o friction between Issa and Condola. He needs his own story lines , like hanging with Chad, whom they need to bring back.
  22. Big giant orb has a file on everyone. But why would everyone believe the mathematic projections of their future are accurate? Everyone in the world had sad or tragic endings? Sounds like the roles or scripts that the hosts had in WW. Is releasing all that information going to improve their lives? No it apparently made them angry and the result was vandalism, maybe a lot of domestic violence? Did Dolores do that to sow chaos or for the benefit of the people? They built the big giant orb in response to the world disintegrating, descending into chaos. But how does the most super computer ever prevent wars and other destructive forces which caused the Serac brothers to build it? The orb identified every destructive/dangerous individuals in the world and they locked those people up or sent them into wars to be cannon fodder? That strategy doesn’t seem like it would scale unless the population is drastically a fraction of what it is now. In our world, larger nations like the US can’t contact-trace infected individuals and the people they came in contact with during a viral pandemic. So computing power is going to be able to track every person in the world and plot out their life paths? Yeah Nolan and Joy wants to make a grand statement about us giving away our privacy to make Big Brother a reality. Or they just wrote some muddled plot which doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.
  23. Add them to the casualties list on top of the army soldiers who got killed trying to get the black box. She went rogue repeatedly and in the last instance got these last set of them killed. Maybe there’s no coming back for her this time. Even if she stops the war from happening, she still is responsible for all those deaths. Maybe the series finale ends with her ousted in disgrace or imprisoned. Maybe Saul is ousted too and we’re suppose to be sad and outraged that they stopped the war but are blamed, seen as reckless by the world but are true heroes. The fact that they devoted a whole episode to the suicide bombing seems to suggest these deaths will be a huge deal, something which can’t be easily forgiven, no matter how the standoff ends. Now watch them make Jenna take all the blame. Or Carrie takes the blame so the show ends with her being a martyr who bravely takes responsibility but stops a war. Except of course she is largely to blame for those men being killed. I still find it ridiculous that Pakistan will face off with US forces, which has the most powerful arsenal ever known to man, because they didn’t want to confront Jalal’s band, who have pickup trucks and live in tents. As for the suicide bombing scenario, US forces are prepared for it. They usually have large guns to pulverize the car long before it can get near the target. In this scene, if they shoot the driver, his foot comes off the accelerator, he no longer steers and his thumb comes off the accelerator. But we’re suppose to believe that all those hundreds or thousands of rounds shot, the driver isn’t killed long before the car reaches target. 🙄 But they wanted some kind of tragedy here.
  24. Nikki was the only interview that was entertaining. She seemed more relaxed and spontaneous than I recall her being on those MTV shows. I wonder if shaming will work on the Chinese.
