Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
MissFeatherbottom replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
Yeah it does help sometimes to have them bring up quietness so I can somewhat explain myself, but my coworkers seem to have amnesia from one day to the next and will bring it up again...and that's when it annoys me and I become even more quiet like you mentioned. The strange thing is, us quiet people just want to blend in with everyone else but we do tend to be singled out which makes us more self conscious about it. I'm glad to hear there are more people like me out there, I don't seem to know any personally 🖤 -

Yes!! I don't get it either. I've tried explaining it by saying it's just the way i'm wired but then I still get a confused look, as if they can't imagine someone might not be talkative or outgoing. And yes, I agree if we want to contribute we will! I can go on and on about a subject that I'm passionate about but will be more quiet otherwise. -

I do this too and am totally comfortable just sitting back and taking it all in, but then someone always has to point out that I haven't contributed or I'm being "quiet." I guess that's another pet peeve I have is being called quiet. I feel like it's more acceptable for people to point that out but i rarely hear someone being called "loud." -

You aren't weird but I am also an introvert and I also think it's awkward/unnatural to have small talk in an elevator, especially with people I don't know. I usually bury my face in my cell phone and pretend to be doing something to avoid it. It sounds like your boyfriend and friend might be extroverts, so maybe for them it is more natural to have small talk when it's not necessary, My husband is an extrovert (and daughter too) and they just think I'm odd because I am not the same way. They just say whatever is on their mind, and I tend to filter what I say and only say things if necessary. And I feel the same way about daily interactions (at work) draining my energy! At the end of a long work day it feels like I have run a marathon (in my mind lol) and I'm just ready to go home. -

Wasn’t it just a few episodes ago that Erika was claiming Tom had not tried to reach out to her since the last day she dropped him off at “The Firm”? Now she says he calls her everyday? If she can lie about small things like that, I can only imagine she is capable of bigger lies. -

Does Dylan remind anyone of a younger, long-haired Adrien Brody (the actor)? -

That was strange! Also, Leah and her sister just have horrible taste in clothing. I cringed at Leah's outfit and well her sister wasn't as tacky but both were odd choices to go with. -

She would eat it mixed together. Slices hot dogs and peas. I googled that out of curiosity and found a few pictures so maybe this is a thing??? Still ewww! Re: the ghetto grilled cheese, I have never heard of those but I could totally imagine the smell and it wouldn’t be appetizing at all! -

Good point! It was a strange meal to eat if she was trying to rebel against the diet. I'd be like Garfield and shoveling lasagna in my mouth instead! -

Mhmmm, that combination does not sound good at all! Rumor has it that the girl's husband had put her on a diet (wtf?!?!?!) and so she would eat hot dogs with peas a couple times during the day at work (I guess she was rebelling against the diet lol). -

Speaking of stinky food at work, someone who used to work at my office would heat up hot dogs and peas (together) a few times a day to eat. It smelled horrible! -

Oh man this reminded me of an interaction a few years ago at a comic book/movie expo where we were standing in line for a photo op and my daughter (3yrs old at the time) did not want to stay in line with us and was squirming a lot, etc. She wasn't crying or being loud, she just didn't want to stay put. We took turns walking her around nearby, and the other would stay in line. Well we were close to being next, and so we were making her stay in line with us, and the guy behind us loudly says "I would never bring my kid to something like this..." We didn't say anything because it wasn't worth it and I wasn't about to get out of line or leave (we stupidly paid a lot for the photo op). It still gets me mad years later just thinking about it. Wow, I can't believe they didn't ask your parents permission before doing that! -

Recent pet peeve are people (mainly coworkers since I'm around them more than anyone else) who act superior because of whatever beliefs they have and are very vocal about it and will not accept that others have a different opinion. Example is a coworker who refuses to get a Covid vaccine (which is fine, it's their choice) but she will say its because she doesn't want to be a "guinea pig" and go on a long rant about it. This same person has strong beliefs about children getting their ears pierced and was so vocal about it today and funny thing is she has no kids! Rant over.... -

I agree, she just seems so distant when she is around him. So strange that he doesn't notice it but I think he just really wants to make things work out with her, but yea I don't think she is interested at all. -

I wondered this too, because while they do make a good salary, her spending alone was outrageous. Didn't she spend 40k a month on her glam squad (probably not including the clothes or shoes, etc)? That just didn't add up to me. I guess it didn't matter where the money was coming from to her as long as she could keep spending, -

Yes to all of this! Any decent person would probably do that, but this is Erika, and I don't think she is a decent person from what we know about her. -

The more I think of Erika's fake mascara tears, the more it pisses me off! How can anyone feel sorry for her when she has shown no sympathy to the people/families whose money was taken from them? Her tears are because she is no longer going to have the lifestyle she thought she earned/deserved, so yeah I am not feeling any sympathy for her. -

I can't remember 100%, but didn't Kyle try to get her to stay? But even then, she still should have left. I have been backing up Sutton but she is slowly losing my support. She claims to have manners but loudly says she can't be around someone she doesn't like? At some point she needs to just be an adult and act civil to Crystal. And for christ sake, let the mouse go! -

Me too, my paycheque is the same every 2 weeks. Ohhhhhhhhhh I hate when people say this as if other people aren't on a fixed income too!! I used to work in insurance and they would say that as if it made a difference in the price I was quoting them. It took everything in me not to respond to them sarcastically. -
This show is so far from what it used to be. Last night's episode was horrible, I kept zoning in and out and it was just not entertaining at all. They really need to get rid of Leah (and perhaps even Eboni). I just don't even know what to say about Sonja anymore. She used to be fun to watch and it's just sad to see she now is just a drunk, delusional mess (she probably always was, but it's all we see of her now). I agree with some of the other posters, keep Lu and Ramona and get new people or bring back women from previous seasons.

I agree that everything with Audrina seems awkward in some way. She just seems kind of boring and I'm not sure how she ends up on these shows since she doesn't really do much and her friendships don't seem that deep with the rest. The whole Brody/Audrina storyline also seems fake, they just don't have that kind of chemistry in my opinion. -

Well yes obviously the a/c works if the car is moving, there’s no argument there. If it’s over 100 degree weather outside I’d much rather give my car (and myself and steering wheel) a few minutes to cool off because I too get blasted with hot air when I open my hot car. Anyway, I wasn’t trying to argue, only offering my reason for idling in my car. -

I'm not sure where you live but here in the South (I'm in Texas), we need the a/c for sure, and sometimes i will sit in my car to try to cool off (they keep grocery or any other stores here super hot).
