  1. To paraphrase my favorite quote by Kurt Vonnegut *swearing gives people an excuse to ignore what life & death information you may be trying to deliver.* I’ll be back, when I catch up.
  2. Totally. Very few bots are susceptible to overhead saws.
  3. I never like extra non-functioning crap on a bot. But I’m a fan now of Deathroll! I did think they were done for when they lost a belt at the beginning. I know myself well enough to say I don’t think I’d practice Good Sportsmanship if my opponent got disabled quickly. I think I’d do some late hits on upside down Bombshell. Gemini - no. Tantrum - slightly less no. I like Duck & Lockjaw. Good match. Why doesn’t Duck guy (Hal Rucker) have anyone standing beside him at decision time? I lost interest in Sawblaze vs Blacksmith. But I dislike hammers as a weapon. I said earlier in the season that I loved Rail Gun Max. I still do. Rotator vs. Tombstone. Fun match! Nice to see a big fire because Ray Billings wouldn’t stop running Tombstone.
  4. When I said Sidewinder was flimsy, I meant the wedges looked like they weren’t solidly connected.
  5. I was glad to see Yeti win. That’s a bot I always cheer for and end up disappointed. I can’t imagine the weapon on Sidewinder would ever be successful against and experienced driver, but points for something new. Seemed comparatively flimsy, though.
  6. Why do a majority of the teen mom participants act like it is a badge of honor to say they (or someone they know) has an illness?
  7. Catelyn irritates me in the way she refers to herself as “mama” when talking to Nova. For example “So mama—Mama is going to see her friends.” And this was right after Nova complained that “everybody” and “anybody” didn’t want to be her friend. And because I’m snarking on a child, I think Novalee sounds like the name of a contraceptive device.
  8. Not the most exciting episode. But I was happy that Huge put the old wheels on. I do think this was the only time I have seen a hammer bot win.
  9. This would be such an excellent and useful show.
  10. You are not alone in this thought. Every member of Catelynn’s family makes me cringe with their decision skills. I hope Nick does okay. I was embarrassed for him with the condom jokes.
  11. This was a great episode. I agree with all you said. The Bot Gods must be fans of water fowl because WOW! I also loved the interviews. Ray Billings always comes off as cocky, but he can back it up with results. I thought he was actually cute when he made the comment/joke “let’s talk about how awesome I am.” I have yet to see a fire spouting bought use flames in a successful way, but I want to see it deployed against Ribbot. Finally, I want to have a job I love as much as Farouk seems to love his.
  12. I enjoyed each of the bouts this past week. My new favorite is RailGun Max. I enjoy “hating” Witch Doctor. I get a kick out of booing every time I see them. I’m glad to have something to be a curmudgeon over.
  13. And it was right after her producer said something along the lines of “you told her the baby came out of your vagina.”
  14. I had similar thoughts. At the end of the episode, Ashley’s aunt said hopefully some day mom would be Ashley’s rock. I disagree. I hope Ashley leaves home and finds support with new people.
  15. When I heard her say this, I thought that she really has no clue as to what insurance is, but she sure thought this was a damnable statement.
  16. Oh, how I loved this episode! Usually I hate when JJ mocks a litigant, but her mockery of Jacob & Missy was beautiful. I especially loved her mocking the puffing of Jacob. And then the questions she asked Missy that lead her to look more like an idiot. Missy stuck to her guns, though, and kept answering questions even though she had to know people were laughing at her.
  17. I ended up with more that one cast off Sibes due to movie portrayals. Shelters and rescues are great ways to get purebred dogs. I know, of course, about the limitations of the AKC But from my perspective, if you’re going to throw thousands of $s at a dog, you should have some proof of its history and lineage The plaintiff was willing to take the dog back, but I think based on her overbreeding and a few other factors, she met my definition of running a puppy mill I think the judges’ were blinded by her niceness. But even nice people run puppy mills
  18. It was a fun picture and it did make me laugh. I’m glad some people are coming off as relatable and charming. I kind of relate to Stella. I think I’d always hate the picture that everyone else loves laughing at. At 52, there is still a song that pisses me off because my mom would play it when I’d throw a tantrum.
  19. I just watched the episode where the plaintiffs sold a non-AKC registered Chihuahua with multiple genetic anomalies to the defendant for $3600. The defendant was okay with most of the genetic problems and paying that much for a bad quality dog. The plaintiff’s claim to fame was that she has the “world’s smallest dog.” Despite this actually physical problem and the fact the dog’s tongue doesn’t fit in its mouth, the dog has been cloned 49+ times. The owner also breeds other dogs. I assume overbreeding in reality. I’m sure some people will think my criticism is out of line, but I know too many quality dog breeders to not be irritated by this. To people wanting to get a dog, research health. Find a quality breeder. Or go to a shelter. I was too irritated to focus on the verdict.
  20. I’m not a big Twitter fan. One of the few accounts I follow is a bot that pulls words and phrases off of other Tweets. I figured this was probably related to LP’s passing.
  21. I have for years enjoyed watching and then reading & participating in snark about Beverly Hills 90210. So, I’m sad about the passing of Luke Perry. His dying at 52, especially of a stroke, hits close to mortality reality.
  22. I am not surprised and there should be. But as a linguist, I find the use of the term “scholarship” interesting.
  23. I figured it was. I haven’t thoroughly googled it, but I’d imagine rehab is the only medical treatment that calls a reduced cost a *scholarship.* A casual googling showed me that a “chemotherapy scholarship” is an education scholarship given to people and their children who need financial aid at school. I always assumed that C&T (et al) hooked onto the term *scholarship* because that might think of rehab as an education facility as well as healthcare. (I’m probably overreaching, but that happens when you have a degree in linguistics.) Of course Ryan on OG *graduated early* from rehab. So, shrug.
  24. I’m sure someone has asked this question at some point in the Teen Mom series airing. But is a price break at a rehab facility really called a “scholarship?”
  25. Did they give much of an explanation of why Lamb was in Missouri?
