Gender On Television: It's Like Feminism Never Happened
HeroWorld replied to Bastet's topic in Everything Else TV
Well Im relieved they didnt pick it up, didnt like the sound of the project. I still want my Nancy Drew show though, I would even take an animated series on Nickledon. "Too female"? what a horrible and stupid thing to say, who do they think watch their programs. Morons! You can see from their new shows pick ups for this season how hard they are trying to be racist and sexist. Disgusting CBS! They can watch a female led show and rate it poorly just to be asses its still a horrible thing to do. Some people really do look at IMDB ratings or reviews when deciding to watch or not, and poor ratings will turn away a few who might have become the show fans. -
Cant wait for Black Lighting, I know some are worried about saturation but I feel Comic/superhero has become a genre in its own right, so they can never be too many shows. They are plenty of cop, doctor, lawyer shows, comedies, soaps etc, there is something for everyone. Which network do you guys want to see this show on?

Not Like Ships In The Night: Shippers
HeroWorld replied to Enigma X's topic in Actor/Character-Related Talk
That ship has destroyed a lot of what was good about the Arrow show, I wonder if some few people would have wanted them to be canon so badly back then had they known that the ship would turn out the way it has. Or regret ever wanting it to be canon, of course I know most dont considering how popular the ship still is. It was cute ship that had potential but was mishandled by the writers. This ship is doing to Arrow what Delena did to The Vampire Diaries. CW Writers never learn, fan pandering and putting a ship above all else never ends well. I just hope that its negative effects doesnt spread to the other DCTV superhero shows. Thats the problem of having multiple shows in the same universe. Speaking of another CW supehero show Im excited about seeing Barry and Iris being canon on The Flash, and I just hope they dont make the same mistake Arrow did with a main ship of the show. Also want to see how Supergirl handles Kara and James. Being inter-racial ships, sometimes writers are quick to abandon these ships for a white love interest/s. Sounds like the fans/ Real life shippers were right? http://www.gamenguide.com/articles/34132/20160721/sam-heughan-catriona-balfe-dating-outlander-season-3-stars-to-make-relationship-official-soon-actress-revealed-why-they-cannot-be-together.htm -
They used to do well, Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie etc were sucessful female led series. Maybe the quality of teen/drama shows has lowered and It just seems that the CW audience prefers "genre" shows nowadays, hence the success of The Flash, Arrow, Supernatural etc. Not necessarily because they are male led but about the type of show that the audience is currently in love with. So Supergirl is a good idea and addition for the CW, they are lacking in female led shows that are sucessful lately and SG fits in with the genre the CW audience is interested in. And when they embraced comic/superhero shows on the network, they attracted more of the male audience and older viewers. Superhero shows appeal to a wider demography and all sexes, hence why they are currently the most popular on the CW. Its always been obvious since the Smallville days but back then the former CW president didnt see the opportunites this genre presented. They didnt see Smallville as a superhero/sci fi show but a teen drama show, and wrongly attributed its success to only that. They are a few more female superheroes/characters in DC lore that CW could try in the near future and have sucess, if they so wish to make another comic show. The most important things is not to only one genre or another but to have a balance, and be able to read what your audience prefers at the time and adapt to it. JMO. Even though I dont care for them there is still an audience on CW that cares for non fantasy drama shows, comedies, sitcoms etc. I would have been happy if Supergirl wasnt competing against Gotham, another DCTV show. Wouldnt that be something!, the only thing that stop me thinking that it does have a shot at #1 is the timeslot. Monday & Thursday seem the toughest, especially for a CW show. Otherwise the quality of the first season was overall good IMO, and I can only see the show getting even better. The potential to be the top CW series is there, but other factors that are beyond show control will determine its position. Im very curious about Legends of Tomorrow's ratings too, now that the show has got a fall premiere date, could get a small bump.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold

Its a good thing that the most vital skill for the character is running, well science too and so many other things. No pressure, the weight will come. He looked a little bit buffer last season, its working. Not all heroes need to be big. Never would I have thought they would pick a Glee actor to play Barry Allen, just goes to show the range Grant Gustin has as an actor and the importance of updating and revising comics. A fantastic actor would have lost this role had they insisted on him looking like a typical comic book cover hero. Btw congrads to him on his Teen Choice Award!

Lightning Rods: Gender, Race, Homosexuality and Other Sensitive Topics
HeroWorld replied to Actionmage's topic in The Flash
Its not just dark skin they haven't embraced, its all African features they have a disgust for (same for Asian features). They are shutting out black women who are not mixed or dont look obviously so. They go for actors/actresses who are overtly mixed. have light skin, light eyes, other European features. Just goes to show HW hasnt embraced non white people, they just use lighter people because they are "forced" to be diverse. Its the bare minimum they can do. On another I consider Candice is be darker skinned than most actresses CW cast for black women roles. I considered it progress. -
Yeah you are right, I misread that. I thought he was talking about Wally.

Interesting, considering that I feel this summer has been rather quiet on The Flash front. Didnt expect it would be the most talked about of all DCTV, even Superman is coming to Supergirl. So now I cant wait to see the buzz Flashpoint will create when it actually starts. And WestAllen being canon.

New-ish to the NFL, can someone tell me how a team knows its going to get for example first round #1 and #4 picks in the Draft, when making trades. What if they dont, what then?

Also don't forget Monday Night Football. Tough timeslot indeed.
