  1. I just watched last nite, and despite character- likability issues all around, I found it fairly entertaining. But mostly, all I could focus on was Kyra wearing a Tom Petty t-shirt in the opening scenes.
  2. Evan is beautiful, always has been, so no guilt is required for finding him so. And I currently also have blue hair, so there's that. I've had a crush on him since 2010's Kick Ass, and then I LOVED tragic, beautiful Tate. His character here is despicable, and I'd never date a Trump voter in real life, not even if they looked like Evan/Kai, but for TV fantasy fodder, I'm all in.
  3. This kind of show never interests me and I would never have bothered to tune in except for Freddie. I came to admire and outright love him for Bates Motel, and tho even the previews made my ears bleed, I had to watch, for him. It's pretty terrible, cliched, and awkward and unsubtle as a wrecking ball, but I was happy to see Beau Garrett and the cute kid who played creepy little Vincent on the Returned as Shaun's brother, and Freddie is so good. But ugh, I don't know if I can hang. And the bunny thing almost made me turn it all off. I'll probably DVR and FF thru a lot...it's the kind of show I'll watch just for a performance or two and not really care about the plotlines or most of the tangential characters. I feel bad for Freddie going from Bates Motel to this, but it does give him a lot to work with and MIGHT get more people realizing how talented he is.
  4. As a Mads Mikkelsen/Hannibal devotee, I have a history of loving cannibals. Tim Meadows was such a cheerful, child killing cannibal! Rosa definitely had access to a LOT of makeup in prison. Andy should keep the beard. Great season opener.
  5. Kudos to everyone who thought Ivy was in on whatever's going on with Ally...I remained unsure before last nite. Like everyone, I was way more concerned for the puppy than Emma. The framing of the scene as the terrifying clowns strode up next to Emma was super creepy. Evan owned this episode. Love getting a little more of his story, and watching him manipulate everyone in such cunning ways. His ability to see people's flaws or fears and exploit them...of course, he has to find find truly damaged people TO exploit, but that's the way of cult leaders. Poor Meadow. Even local junkie randos don't want to fuck her. So...they didn't air the murderous clowns killing Emma and the cameraman, but surely the actual story made the news...that masked clowns killed them? So wouldn't Ally know about that, and the cops? Or is EVERYONE in on gaslighting her?
  6. i love them so hard.
  7. I keep watching this show because I do think the acting is consistently quite fine, and it's fun to hate watch the clothes (cuz we all make breakfast for our kids in a $2000 dress), but man, these women are entitled, neurotic messes. Abby definitely needs to be on meds. She's deeply high strung and insecure and yet smugly sure of her rightness, and she absolutely has no problem making screeching scenes everywhere she goes. But I did think most of last nite was deftly acted. I agree that Abby surely could have found better arrangements for her dad, who at this point is only exhibiting mild signs of dementia. She has money, resources and a guest house, and she could have found a better home healthcare nurse than the insulting sterotype (overweight, drinking diet soda, surly, hateful, ungrateful and mean) she apparently had hired. I hope Delia either isn't really pregnant or goes thru with the abortion, cuz her as a mom would be even more disastrous than me as one. Yeah, telling the babydaddy right before he has to go onstage is ridiculous. These women have no edit buttons, discretion, sense of timing or appropriateness or awareness.
  8. He's beautiful. He might be on my laminated list.
  9. yipes. yeah, winter. edited to fix that.
  10. I'm guessing that Ivy (unless she IS in on everything) will likely not want to keep WINTER around now that she's seen that video.
  11. Pimps are the scum of the earth. Those porn scenes have definitely put me off any kind of creamy soup forever, and off sex for a least a couple hours. Blech. I'm grossed out and feel dirty and bleak after this show, but I'm also intrigued and invested in knowing what happens to everyone, so I guess I'm in.
  12. I wasn't really on the shrink-as-bad-guy train before last nite, now it seems a dead sure thing he is. I also don't think Ivy is in on anything, at least not yet. Why did Ally never mention that Billy Eichner had told her, on the night the power went out, that it was also out in like 8 other states and was a terrorist attack? And I'm completely confused by Billy and Wife, whose name I just forgot: they're Obama hating gun freak conspiracy theorists but are all up in arms about their 'racist' next door neighbor. Just part of the gaslighting? I knew poor fat sweet little Mr. Guinea was doomed, no animals are ever safe on shows like this, which I truly hate. Kept my eyes shut thru pretty much all of that. Ivy could tell Winter was 'fingering' Ally in that video, just that quickly? I understand being outraged and freaked out, but yeah, the bigger picture is that somebody put a camera in their bathroom. Ally devolving, thru panic and fear, into what she formerly hated is interesting. I'm liking this season. but don't listen to me, I loved Roanoke. Is Lily Rabe set to show up this season? She seems like the very best kind of culty girl around.
  13. Patty the Daytime Hooker! He's the entire reason I watch this show. He's never not hilarious here, I can never take my eyes off of him. This show is designed to be offensive. We're not supposed to be ROOTING for these two awful losers, we're supposed to hate them. So adding in sexism and racism, along with their complete lack of morality or compassion or self awareness or empathy, is to be expected.
  14. I like them too. I wasn't sure if it was part of her character 'devolution' or not tho. They can be a fashion statement too.
  15. I think Jimmy's apology was sincere, and I also think he smiled, not because he takes pleasure in Gretchen's pain, but because it indicates that she still cares about him. But none of that really matters, because what he did was so beyond the pale. Of course, she should never forgive him, but she also shouldn't be too surprised. He's come thru for her when she needed him, sure, and he actually does love her, in his limited way, but like the song/fable says, she knew he was a snake when she brought him in. (and vice versa, mostly. It just as easily could have been Gretchen bailing on Jimmy in this scenario). Edgar being all hurt and pissed at Jimmy but not being able to NOT ask about the jazzy car in the drive and wanting a future ride in it was funny. I liked Lindsay's feral reaction about Gretchen to Jimmy too. It was good to see Gretchen so calmly taking Jimmy down. Her way of handling what he did: hibernating, eating junk, drinking too much, sleeping with randos....not healthy, but relatable (tho so much the crack)...but she's coming out the other side. Sort of. In her own Gretchen way. I do think they'll wind up together again, eventually, but maybe Jimmy will actually have to work for it. Are Aya Cash's eyebrows more...prounounced...this season?
  16. I liked this:
  17. I just wanted to quote this cuz i love it so much. Two years gone, and I'm still obsessed with this show, and mostly, mainly, forever, with Mads. He would indeed make a beautiful, terrifying, seductive vampire.
  18. Alison Pill is 31, tho she does sometimes look much younger, and occasionally, to me, significantly older than she is, which is weird. . She's old enuf to be a wife and a mom. She's 10+ years younger than Sarah P, which might make her seem even younger here.
  19. Farkus! I thought Billy Eichner was great. I know he's hilarious, but he also brought some scary factor too. I saw a critique that the gay man being a gun hording Obama hater was eyeroll worthy, but I found it an interesting twist. I don't really know Leslie Grossman from anything but that Modern Family episode where she turns down a guy's proposal, and a couple other sitcom appearances, but I like her. She looked very Gaga at first, in her big glasses and poncho and big floppy hat. Only in tv and film have I heard of the 'bargain'....where you agree to marry a friend if--horrors--you're not married by a certain age. Has that EVER happened in real life? I knew Pedro was gun fodder as soon as Ivy asked him to go to the house too. Poor Pedro. I'm a little tired of Ally's histrionics too, but, well, she's had some good reasons to scream. I didn't quite see the Winter-seducing-Ally scene coming, but it's not really surprising. Also, that bathroom? Is crazy amazing. Loved the scene between Kai and Ally at the door...very tense. Evan and Sarah play off one another so well. Yeah, Ozymandias will forever be linked to Breaking Bad for me too.
  20. Finished Lisa Lutz's The Passenger, which I enjoyed, it's kind of batshit crazy. Fun, fast read. Then read Ann Patchett's This is the Story of a Happy Marriage, a collection of her previously published essays. As always, i love her writing. Now reading Paula Hawkins' Into the Water, which I know a lot of folks didn't love. But so far, and I'm over halfway thru it, I like it. There are a LOT of characters and viewpoints to keep straight, but I'm finding it pretty compelling.
  21. Ontkean was in The Descendents with George Clooney and also Matthew Lillard-- in 2011 (which was filmed in Hawaii) and he still looked good.
  22. I like it. There are weird twists and turns that keep me intrigued, and I love Bill Pullman and most especially Jacob Pitts, who needs to be on my TV at all times.
  23. I have always liked James Franco, he's very talented and weird, so this was a must for me. And it's really good, really well done, the cast is fabulous, it looks authentic, but I do not know if I can hang with it. It's just so ugly. I can handle grit and violence generally, but I felt like I needed a Karen Silkwood shower after watching this; it's all so bleak and sordid. I admired the show, but I can't say I enjoyed a second of it. I'm sure I'll try another episode just to see if I can handle it, but I am on the fence. I kind of wish one twin was mustache-free. When Frankie is strutting down the street in his tight pants and pointy shoes, I swear I could hear "Stayin' Alive' playing. The actress who plays Lori has a Jennifer Jason Leigh vibe about her. Pimps are fucking assholes.
  24. It's Batani's and it's WAY too low for anyone with even a modicum of a bosom...completely impractical verging on wardrobe misfunctiony, but so pretty.
  25. I am not sure it's been established that Pauline had no contact with the girls for a whole year. I mean, maybe she didn't, but I don't remember that point having been driven home. Sure, she left the house and let Charles have parental custody but maybe she still saw them and talked to them. That changes how I'd view her, for sure.
