  1. LOVE IT 😂 seriously though it has always made me wonder how the girls maintain and protect their skin when they're cheering, and dealing with hot Texas sun and some hardcore makeup application - sunscreen is so key and the only formulas I've found that have a decent UVA-PPD rating are from Japanese and K-beauty companies. Do the girls really get into skincare, or is it something they don't pay as much attention to?
  2. I hope I'm not taking @ShellyB's name in vain here, but from what I remember, her advice was for DCC hopefuls to specifically not try to learn the kicks beforehand, because it could possibly ingrain poor habits and technique. Instead, she recommended shoring up on flexibility and stamina, which are key components for beautiful kicks.
  3. my tin foil hat is in position.....let the speculation begin 😂
  4. Thighs and boots are cute, but that belt though......😂 Hope it's funny in a good way....I'm a tea kind of girl literally and metaphorically, and yours has been pretty awesome 😊
  5. Briana is one of my favorites (and very underrated, IMO), I hope she's not having any trouble.....same with Ashlee, she seems like a doll. Wouldn't have thought Lexie would have problems either, honestly. If anyone's having a hard time, I hope they get back where they want to be as soon as they safely can. They've got all my sympathy....I defended my thesis in June, and I was a nervous wreck. Was sitting down in the conference room, desperately going over my notes trying to make sure I didn't forget any key terms (or my own name), when the zipper on my dress decided it had had enough (either that, or it decided I'd been eating my feelings a little too much), and split. I had six inches of bare skin showing right down my side ten minutes before we were set to begin. It was actually so ridiculous that it helped me relax a bit though, because I knew my bestie and I would be laughing about it later, and I was able to avoid flashing my committee by holding my laptop case strategically under my arm the whole time. Might not work for the girls, of course, but I'd take pom-poms over PowerPoints any day (seriously though, who wouldn't?) 😂
  6. omg, so many amazing DCC girls I miss in here!!!! Jacie, Katy, Jenn, Melissa, Samantha, Emma, Holly....all the girls looked like they were having a blast (although I definitely agree it was an unfortunate time for the camera have panned to Breelan at that point - she's got a beautiful smile when she lets us see it). Totally get why "fun to watch" is a thing, even if it means avoiding the term for fear of alcohol poisoning in the annual DCC drinking game.
  7. Heavy makeup, heavy self-tanner, and going well under a healthy BMI will definitely make you look older....I've seen pics of Colby since and she's a really beautiful girl, but I don't think there is any possible way to not look older under those circumstances. (And injectables or plastics in general are touch and go - Colby specifically mentioned getting her lips done, which was unfortunate, but I have also seen quite a few retired DCC with bat brows and bunny noses). DCC are obviously very beautiful young women, but it also seems as though the kind of makeup they have to wear to cheer (bright lights, many photographs, etc.) ages them all a bit. That's not usually a problem since they tend to be very young women for the most part (and the "older" ones are still quite young), but any visible sign of aging is going to be exaggerated significantly. I notice the same effect with pageant girls.
  8. as much as I love Aveda, Be Curly never did anything good for me either. They used to have a leave-in conditioner (Elixir) I'd mix with the light gel (Confixor), and that worked beautifully (as did the Brilliant gel) when I'd wear my hair natural, but I can't do curls anymore and there's seriously nothing they've got for straightening that seems to work well for me. The girls' hair looked really beautiful in their cameos this year.....I remember thinking Taylor in particularly was rocking the hell out of it. Wish I could get my hands on whatever it is they were using at the shoot, because it clearly works.
  9. Everyone looks gorgeous! Sydney’s dress? Not my fav. agreed on both points, although I have to say that while Sydney's dress is something else, I kind of wonder if that might not be why she's wearing it....insiders here have described her personality in the past as being particularly "extra," which that dress certainly is. Mia's legs are perfect. Sarah looks gorgeous. I've always liked her....she seems like the kind of girl who if you ask her what she thinks of your outfit, she will tell you exactly what she thinks. In pointed detail. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea but I've got a lot of girlfriends like that, and I really appreciate them (there's a reason I no longer wear tube tops....thanks Erin!! 😂).
  10. you're ADORABLE!!!!!!! also, I am envying you your long legs, and the kinds of stories you've probably got, with or without Snoopy 😄
  11. me too, only mine is post-traumatic stress from high school math problems beginning with "a train moving at 60 mph from Point A...."
  12. Boxing is hard - it won't work well for cardio if you do the whole take-your-time-and-take-your-shot, but the kind where you are moving, dodging, and twisting at top speed will shred you fast, and tone your arms and abs at the same time (which is especially good if you're a bit bottom-heavy). It's the upper-body equivalent to plyo - it's also a particular favorite of Victoria's Secret models to get in shape for runway and photo shoots. Running has its points, but I don't think it would do the kinds of things for her body she'd have wanted it to. I'm a runner and when I'm on point with my routine I can get to be decently slim (especially if I hit intervals), but I've got thicker calves than I wish I did because of all the running I do, and the sheer amount she'd need would make it really hard for her to be on point with all the leg and foot movements she'd need to keep up with. I do agree with you though that whether she was running or boxing, the bottom line for weight is absolutely diet. I just can't imagine how insanely hard it would be to keep on point with that when regardless of how well you've got your routine down prior to trying out - just making it to camp would have to potential to seriously screw with it.
  13. that's what I'm afraid of. I found her attitude last year to be really appalling, but I'd really been hoping hard for her that she was just maybe happy puppy clueless and immature, and that having had a year to grow would make the difference for her (especially since Marshall vouched for her, and there have been people here who spoke about interacting with her in a positive way). It's still possible that could be the case, but I'm starting to feel as though that's not really likely given some of the insider comments about stealth nasty. I believe @GuiltyJohn had also mentioned this specifically, which makes me really sad. I don't know these girls but I do love rooting for them and I like to cherish the idea (hope) that they are kind to and supportive of each other. When I hear mean girls, I want to think of Tina Fey, not the DCC.
  14. I need 1-3... ...I also possibly need a re-evaluation of my immediate life goals given the importance I'm placing on this right now, but that's another story 🤣
  15. I'll be sad for her if this is so, but it definitely makes me think that's a real possibility. I know that has to be so hard when you've fought it out so hard before and made it so far, and not make it through again (if that's the case). I hope she (and all the other TCCs) have some comfort with friends from both last year and this year (especially Shaina, with the loss of her sorority sisters). Would love to know more about the team dynamics this way with the new rookies (and vets too, for that matter)....who's making friends, what their individual personalities are like, etc. Is there anyone in particular that is a real sweetheart we can root for? Hint, hint, insiders 😉
  16. yeah....Charlotte asked her who her favorite author was, and she said she couldn't think of any.....then she asked her what the last book she read was, and she couldn't remember. In the follow-up clip, she said she didn't read much 😫 I'm wondering if perhaps Biebele Jamabo and Ashley Williams might also consider trying out....they used to dance on DMD with Hunter, and they are gorgeous dancers. They danced with Michelle Keys, too:
  17. I'm so excited to see if he's featured on the show!!!!!!!! I've had this Insta vid of him in my "pretending I'm dancing while running on the treadmill" rotation for the past year and a half - he's awesome (also, this clip features former DCC hopeful Hunter, who is amazing....I am still sad she didn't make it into training camp, and I would 100% find her all the best books if she'd consider trying out again):
  18. someone had mentioned on the boards once that the distribution rights were the reason seasons 1 and 2 and the 2-hour special have never been available for sale. I haven't even seen the 2-hour special and I'm dying to. I don't even really watch TV (I don't even have a TV), but I totally love MTT and go back and watch old shows on my laptop all the time. I really wish it was easier to see and watch the first couple seasons....definitely brings it home to you how much things have changed over the years, and I really empathize with the girls through their journeys. It's kind of going back and visiting old friends.....like "hey Natalie Woods, I totally missed you girl, let's go get a cheeseburger together!" Also there is Kelli skydiving, which was killer, and more of the perfect Nicole Hamilton. I'd also found it really interesting in the first couple seasons when Melissa Rycroft was in training camp. I know she gets a lot of shade here sometimes but rewatching those seasons it's easy to see why she might be featured later (The Bachelor and DWTS notwithstanding). She was shown quite a bit from what I can remember, and she was always really articulate and funny. When they let her be herself (and not "aww, Breelan!!"), she's a riot, and really does give great advice.
  19. as much as I do want to be respectful of everyone's privacy......I am straight up dying to know more about all the things. Show group seems to be the center of quite a lot of dramatics, from last year with Heather, and now with Jalyn. I really love jasmine tea (in case anyone wanted to know), but I don't get mad if anyone spills it 😄
  20. I would agree with you, except that my understanding is that the DCC dance world is crazy small, and most of the girls who try out are connected somehow. I feel like it doesn't make sense to try to sit people out when there isn't really a fair way to do it across the board. I think it would be far more to the point that there should be conscientious perspective-taking about the objective standards expected from each of the girls, which seemed to me to be what has been lacking in relation to VK in particular. I hope she gets the benefit of some more Jenn A.-style professional objectivism (IIRC, "that is not how a DCC acts"), because it's satisfying, and because it's constructive and truthful. That said, as VK-focused as the last season was (and as the board has been, myself definitely included), I hope the other girls get a lot more attention. I'm really interested in the team dynamics and individual personalities, as well as specific aspects of the dancing. For instance, who is the rockstar dancer that maybe struggles with flexibility, and what does she do to compensate for it? Are there specific dance sequences that some girls especially love (or loathe)? (Silently wailing "pleeeeaaaaaasssseeeee come back" to our insiders). I really loved the sections from last season with Meredith where she was so frank about the difficulties she had as an aspiring dancer in NYC...I was rooting for her then and I'm rooting for her now (even though I could see what the judges meant about her flat affect during interview last season). I also loved the sections with Mackenzie Lee from back in the day where she was working so hard to get to be more flexible. I love seeing the girls as dancers but I also really love hearing about their personalities, and getting to "know" them and root for them....it's the reason I love the show, so I'm hoping we get to see as much of that part of it as they're comfortable sharing.
  21. She's adorable!!!! And that's really impressive - sounds like she's very dedicated, and was well loved on her team 😊
  22. OMG that is so awesome!!!!! Of course I wasn't sure which was your daughter, but they all looked like they were having fun, and I just really loved that choreo. Is your daughter still in college, or continuing on with dance??
  23. I think he definitely sees and hears quite a bit, and for that matter, probably knows more about her than most people (both directly and indirectly). I also think he is probably quite insightful and would be difficult to fool with a line of bullshit....even if she was so inclined, she wouldn't be throwing anything at him he hadn't already seen a hundred times before. Also, it doesn't make logical sense to me that Victoria would have the kind of sophistication it would take to create a believable kind of artifice. Most of the kinds of issues with Victoria (attitude-wise) have centered around the fact that she can't seem to help but say many unfortunate things, loudly and at great length. However, the point I was trying to make didn't have anything to do with whether or not Marshall is right - that's honestly not something any one person can determine about another, it's just a singular perspective, no matter how informed or insightful he may or may not be. I just honestly don't think that he's the kind of person who would fawn over someone for an artificial reason.
  24. Omg yes. And she seriously just gets even more beautiful over time. I still covet Body Bling.....never could get my hands on any. Probably a good thing, or I'd be sparkling like a Twilight vampire 😂
