  1. I'm confused. Why was Robot with the red face? He has the red face when he's evil? When or why did that happen? Was it because John yelled at him and hit him, so then he went and found Dr. Smith? And when he's with her, he's bad? I must have either missed a huge plot point or fallen asleep because I had no idea why he was at the dam. He knew the three bad robots were there trying to break the turbines? Also confused what exactly Judy was going to do to try to blow up the turbine. You have to swim underwater to do that? Why can't you just control it from one of those iPad things? Seems like an excuse to get Judy to take off the jacket and bare a bit of cleavage, although very briefly and limited view.
  2. Agree. He just walks around telling people he's in charge. What is the point? He has money. He's just trying to get more money? So apparently Slave 1 was renamed to .... Firespray? Huh? Why? Are they going all PC and trying remove the name "slave"?
  3. Excited to read that there will be a prequel spin-off focusing on Berlin. A little surprised that there is a Korean remake of Money Heist using the same character names. But I'm guessing different locale or maybe even different story? Seems kind of pointless if it's an exact remake, just with Korean actors. But in the wake of Squid Game success, the show would likely be a money making machine and perhaps a way for Netflix to add to its already huge coffers.
  4. Just watched these. Sam states that this is the first baby "born during a pitstop" or something like that. Don't remember the exact words and now I can't find it on my feed again. Is he saying the baby was conceived during a pit stop, or that he's counting this as a 19 month pit stop? I'm sure there were most likely some babies conceived during pit stops... Ray and Caro had separate videos, obviously because they didn't live together and were on separate coasts. But yes, they didn't address the obvious that we all know they're no longer together. The visa is an excuse. Even if she had the visa, if the couple is broken up, would they really have run together? Agree that Spencer looks like he has gained a lot of weight, since all we could really see was his face as he was wearing a black t-shirt. Where was Anthony? Why couldn't he put together a little blurb and speak for himself? Husband's brother had Covid before they left to restart, I think? And then just took a turn for the worse? Unfortunate and sad. He said "hopefully we get a chance to compete again". So I'm guessing that these at least one of these teams will show up in future episodes. Completely forgot that there was a whole season of YouTube stars. At that time, I'm not really sure there was such a focus on social media, or at least I myself had no clue and was dumbfounded that people recognized these unknowns to me while they were traveling the world. Guess it's such a different time now. But it's still interesting that nobody has brought it up with Kim and Penn. Of course they may have chatted about it and we just haven't seen it make it to the final cut, since it's pretty irrelevant to the race.
  5. Everyone here is saying that Anna isn't going to be for long, because that's usually how it works with these CIs. But I'm hoping that the showrunners realize that this one seems different. I like the character, the actress, the grit, etc. Hoping that she can become a recurrent character. Not one that shows up every episode obviously, but one that Voight can rely on from time to time. So she was trying to get into Los Temidos, and that's when she said she was drugged and sadly raped. But then she decided to get out? And they let her? I forget the whole back story. Didn't somebody kill her brother so that's why she's motivated to get these guys? If she was trying to initiate and get in, how is it that nobody recognizes her? Isn't she worried if she goes to a house party where there are some gang members that she wouldn't get found out?
  6. I think had it not been edited out, we surely would have seen Phil say on the restart after the two teams came hollering out like some crazy teenagers that they would be required to do a speed bump as a penalty for finishing last in the first two legs. As they didn't show the speed bump, we had no idea why they were so far behind and we were just left to assume that they're both in last again because both teams suck as racers. What exactly was the speed bump and how much time did it take up?
  7. Maybe just my opinion, but I thought that Stella didn't "kill it" at the escalator mall scene. I thought she was very quiet and didn't appear to look like the leader, other than to be the one to walk up and down to both escalator victims. She wasn't barking orders loudly. I would have had trouble knowing who was in charge. How much older is Sylvie than Gallo and crew? They made it seem like she was some old fogey wanting a live band. I'd expect Hermann to be put into the "he's old" category, not Sylvie. Violet was fire at the gala. I don't want her to end up with Hawkins, but we all know it's going to happen.
  8. I like Anna. Tough as nails. Pretty. Eager. But she takes some crazy risks. Yeah, we knew that she needed to look for the Glock. But to immediately start going into an office, opening drawers, and then taking out gun boxes so you could take a picture? Of course she was going to get caught. Surprised that Paco didn't hold her as a hostage and he basically threw her off to the side and started running. Do we think that Anna slept with Paco? Voight asked how she got more information about the gun and she replied "I let him show me all his tattoos." So Paco was brought in to the station? And boss guy found out and somehow sent someone to jail / lockup to kill him? Why wasn't Paco being kept in isolation for his protection?
  9. Wasn't it mentioned above that there was another part of the clue and that the cops lost it at some point and never went back? I'm not really sure why there would be two parts, doesn't it just come on the card? But if they lost the description of the challenge, then yeah, they were at a disadvantage. Again though, any observant cop would notice the detail of the sample. And if there was one already placed on the belt towards the non-buckle end, then where was that as part of the story? Wouldn't it have been easy to know that was the end? I'm amazed they got the order of the symbols right in the first place. That seems harder than figuring out what side to start them on. Maybe it's just because I'm a cynic, but I thought their "encouragement" was outwardly "you can do this!" but on the inside they're all thinking "glad I'm not in your position". Way easier to encourage somebody to do better when you know they have no chance to beat you.
  10. So after ignoring the pandemic this whole season and pretending it no longer existed, they now bring it back in the form of the pregnant woman who doesn't want to be vaccinated? And who if she needs blood, is requesting that the blood she receives comes from an unvaccinated individual? And then predictably dies? Choi walking around his dad's house with his shoes on? What? Isn't he Asian? Seems like they didn't have the greatest of relationships. I grew up in the snow and remember my parents needing to put on snow tires every season. But now they have all-weather tires, there's no need to change them. But yes, just a ruse to get Choi to leave the house. Crockett and Blake ... this can't end well. Will and Hammer... probably won't end well either.
  11. Ah, true, I'm not sure if those stats would be known to us. Maybe somebody who works at YouTube would have knowledge of that. I like that Kim and Penn seem very "normal". They're not flaunting their fame, or likely explosion in wealth. They're not constantly making comments about their social media prowess. I have no clue how or why people can make so much money from YouTube, but has there been any estimate of how much they actually do make? Was it Kim who said $1M could pay for her kids' college tuition? That made it sound like they're not sitting on millions of dollars. But likely they're doing well. I discovered them because I got a Peloton and then her Peloton video really resonated in our household. So funny. They're personable and seem down to earth. Thought it was funny when she made a comment like "Look at Penn running up that hill and passing everyone. Soooo haaawwwwtt. I'm a sure thing [tonight]." Made me giggle. I'd much rather watch Kim and Penn have fun, get along, and show love to each other than Akbar and Sheri bickering, showing disdain, and a general lack of support.
  12. They became famous in 2012 or 2013 with "Xmas Jammies", a parody of Will Smith's "Miami" and I think was one of the clips that was shown about them when they were introduced. 18 million views on YouTube. Even if you dislike them, you got to admit that the video is well made and the two of them have talent.
  13. Not facetious. It is more compelling. Profcrash describes it more eloquently right below. THIS. What makes you connect with a team more? Seeing the pretty couple talk about how rich they are because people like watching them because they're beautiful and funny? Or hearing the sad story of minority twins who lost their matriarch due to this terrible pandemic? Especially when the question was, what did you do during this pandemic? And to a lesser degree, the "we lost our jobs as flight attendants" [because nobody was flying due to pandemic] hits the heart strings more than "we took advantage of social media and made a lot of money".
  14. Yes. And likely made a ton of money from all the views. They have a hilarious Peloton video that's been viewed more than 8 million times. But it's more compelling tv to hear about a grandmother dying, people losing their jobs, etc.
  15. Well, Penn and Kim are arguably the most attractive team on the race, and they do have 5 million YouTube and Facebook followers with their videos being watched 1 billion times. They are the definition of what casting directors look for. I think Phil didn't spend time on why the other teams weren't back because he's showing respect to the ones that did make it back. So it makes sense to spend time learning about what's new in the racers lives who are on the show, and to heck with the ones that didn't come back. We can all google as to why they didn't. The expressions on the racers' faces when Indian dad and daughter and the cops came whooping and hollering out seemed to indicate that they weren't pleased that the two teams returned. Kudos to imprisoned guy and Kim for diplomatically welcoming them back. I don't think any of them were excited to see them back.
  16. YMMV. In my opinion, if somebody volunteers personal information like "I'm afraid of heights" when talking about how it's going to affect her performance on the task, I would also think it would be natural to say "And, oh, by the way, I've had two total hip replacements in the last five years" or "I just tore my meniscus while training for this race". What's more likely? That she's not physically fit or that she is hiding an injury? And if she doesn't have the time and/or the desire to train or to get in better shape, then that's her prerogative. But it doesn't endear her to me. I've been wanting to be on this show ever since the first season and I see a couple that is squandering an opportunity because they aren't physically prepared to race. It doesn't help that Akbar isn't really sympathetic or offered to do things like carry her backpack when she was struggling in the first or second leg.
  17. I'm too lazy to watch all the episodes to find the instances they talked about it, but some of them seemed to be spontaneous conversations in a cab, etc. Not just Phil asking at the mat. And we really don't know if production asked them those questions. Who is asking them when they're in the cab? There's just a cameraman. And even if they did, surely they picked up a little on a vibe from them that made production ask those leading questions. Really. Even though apparently they were no longer a couple? They would still race together. That would have been fun to watch unfold. Yes. As I said, he fits the "power forward" basketball player. Big, not morbidly obese, but you know he couldn't beat a point guard or shooting guard in a footrace. Plenty of Div I football players also aren't in the greatest shape either, just look at all the offensive and defensive linemen.
  18. Had a friend compete on Survivor and all that was needed was medical clearance from a doctor. Meaning that you don't have uncontrolled high blood pressure that puts you at risk for a heart attack or stroke, you don't have any physical limitations, etc. That's all. They're not making these contestants run the 40 yard dash and seeing how many pull-ups they can do in one minute. So we can assume that Sheri doesn't have double knee replacements or any physical ailments that are limiting her performance.. Not size shaming, just saying it how I see it. She's overweight and out of shape. So that puts her team at a tremendous disadvantage.
  19. Well, then don't go on the race! Yes, kudos to her for serving the youth of her community and raising kids and running a family. But this is a RAAAACCCEEE. Nobody is going to let you finish first because you are Mother Teresa. You need to be physically fit to be successful. You need to be able to run with a heavy backpack, walk a lot, climb hills, lift things, etc . Yes, there are mental tasks as well. But in a RACE, you need to be fast. OK, so maybe she played power forward. Akbar looks like he could have been a power forward as well. She could also have played catcher on a softball team. "Division 1 athlete" doesn't always mean "top physical fitness". I think if she had injuries, we would have heard about them in the interviews. Either she would have been complaining about her bad knees while actually doing the task, or Akbar would have said something like "Man, this has got to be hard on her because she blew out both Achilles two years ago." I think it is what it is: she's just out of shape. Disagree. The girls kept talking about "all girl" team winning all the time. It's annoying. It'd be one thing if they just mentioned it once. But there have been multiple comments from them about only women winning. I agree. Dumber than a box of rocks. If I was their boss, I'd seriously be questioning their competence as police officers. Not observant. Not logical. Not fast. They deserve to go home and it would have been a travesty if this was a non elimination leg and it spared them once again. Not sure if Ryan works, as he did get $11M for being wronged, but kudos to him for 1) having the fire to want to get physically stronger and 2) being able to do it in the first place. Didn't understand the buses either. They should have left at staggered intervals, otherwise why bother with making it seem lit you had to get to the bus in a hurry? Maybe some of it was a poor attempt at physical distancing, or just the fact that the buses looked small to begin with. Yes, this. If you were planning to go on the race again, then make some time in your life to train. At least just a bit. She doesn't have 30 minutes of free time in a day? Everyone can make time to work on something if they want. You might be riding a bike or lifting dumbbells at 11 pm, but if you want something enough, you find a way. As far as the behavior, that's all on Akbar. I don't think she made any negative comments unless she was sniping back at him. Akbar is just critical. And he can't always use the "I'm a coach so I try to motivate" line forever. At some point, you're just exposed as an unsupportive husband who is unhappy that his wife is out of shape.
  20. The physical issue is that the wife is probably one of the most out of shape racers in the history of the show. If I knew I was coming back on the race at some point, I would have used quarantine time to at least improve my fitness if I knew that was a problem. The wrongly prisoned guy and his buddy talked about how they did a lot of mountain hiking to train. Doesn't seem like this woman even rode a stationary bike. Yes, she has a fear of heights and that's what slowed her down. But also climbing up and down the mountain was challenging for her. After getting the clue, you saw her just walking slowly back, huffing and puffing. Whereas we saw Penn sprinting back up the mountain. I didn't understand the "He's too big" comment. He's too big that he can't walk on a one foot ledge? His feet are three times the size of a normal human? I thought that there had to be a weight restriction and that's why Akbar couldn't do it. But if that really was the case, then why did Akbar keep saying at least five times "I should have done this one?" I would think that if there was a rule that prevented him from doing it, he would have been on camera saying something like "I wish I could do this one but they're saying I'm too heavy." They should let out of shape woman do the tasks that don't require anything physical. Such as just getting strapped up and bungee jumping. Anything that involves any physical exertion, they should let Akbar do. I didn't understand why the cops couldn't understand the belt. You go from left to right, and it makes sense that you start at the buckle. I don't know if there was a sample belt to look at (I doubt they would have shown the one with the right order), but come on, it wasn't that hard. So Asian woman and white husband had baby. Love Island couple obviously broke up. What was the reason why husbands and Spencer/other guy didn't come back? Anyone know?
  21. Ah, I wasn't paying too much attention, but was trying to figure out why Smith was one of the few put in tubes. THIS was the reason? I'm amazed at how much Will the actor has grown. Seems like he grew a foot since the last season. He is probably bigger than Smith now, he should have gone in the tube.
  22. After the anticipation of this series watching Mando, I must say I'm a little let down. Boba Fett is one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. Much of it, IMO, was because of his mystique. Who was the man behind that helmet? What's his story? Does he talk more than just to utter a few words and nod his head? Now that we see the man, with the helmet off, with all the ARMOR off, in his boxer briefs...I kind of wish he never took it off. I get that they don't want to pay an actor to star in a show and never even have to shave because he'd always have a helmet on. But some of the mysteriousness of this character is now gone. He's not a particularly good fighter. He doesn't have many gadgets other than a jet pack. He doesn't appear particularly fearsome. Now he's got some kid biker gang that is supposed to protect him with a wristband slingshot? Come on now. The Hutt twins seem quite vulnerable being perched up on that platform. So they have about 20 slow moving people carrying them everywhere. What's to prevent anybody from just shooting them? Who would defend them? One man lets go and they would come tumbling down.
  23. Oh I agree. Penn and Kim may bug a little, but I'd much rather watch them than the now-over Love Island couple. How many times did we hear the girl say "I've never seen him in a stressful situation like this and it's surprising"? Maybe the guy is just a jerk and you didn't realize it because you don't live in the same city and just see each other occasionally? TV producers love all of these types. The muggers. The ones where they think there will be some drama and fighting. Even the out of shape heavy AA wife and the athlete husband were fighting. They like the lovey dove husbands who can pull off a sharp dance. They like the family bond of an immigrant father and his overachieving daughter. What makes for the most boring racers are ones that have no drama. Like Spencer and the other guy. Like the wrongly imprisoned guy and his partner. But these guys are on the show because of their back stories.
  24. But what have you really "heard" about him? Do you know people who know him personally? His entire claim to fame and reason why he is on this show is because he's a performer and a good mugger for the camera. If you put out drab videos, you're not going to amass the following that he does. Everyone's saying that he's always "on", well, you have to be if that's your public persona. What would be interesting is to see how he is at home when the cameras are off. Is he generally this hyper? I don't like muggers, but I'd also argue that Rachel was a mugger as well, just in the negative sense. I think more so people don't like contestants that get on because of some internet fame and we'd rather just see normal people. Of course people that make it on this show are naturally going to look good in front of the camera. TAR casting directors aren't looking for some wooden characters to put on their show. So some of it is expected.
  25. Maybe it's a generational thing. But I learned to drive on a manual stick shift. Back then, you had to pay extra if you wanted an automatic. So I think that might be in part why my parents had a manual. I do remember a lot of stalling as we were learning. My brother and I would each get a turn to drive going to church, one of us going and the other back. We'd make fun of each other when we stalled. I remember my first time driving alone on the day I got my license, we took the car out and encountered an incline where I almost rolled into the car behind me until I put the emergency brake on. So I get it. It's hard and there's a learning curve. Simply going to a parking lot with a rental car a few times before the race is probably not sufficient. Natalia and Arun were at a disadvantage for pretty much everything because 1) they don't appear to be the most athletic or physically strong and 2) they're not natural showmen like the mugging Penn and Kim. So you had a detour where both options didn't play to any of their strengths, which I'm going to say stereotypically was their intelligence and logic. Never a good idea to bald snark a detour. Even worse when there's already many teams at that task. Instead of panicking, they should have taken a deep breath, looked around the room to see how others were doing it (like the husbands copying other peoples' cakes, watched the demonstration, etc. I knew they were done the minute that they ran out. Arun himself said he can't sing and dance, so why would he agree to do it? They deserve what they got. That said, I did find the moment where he thought he let her down to be very touching. It was odd that they are rushing to the end, yet they had a moment of live interview (and not a calm collected recap where we know gets filmed after the pit stop) where they took the time to talk it out. I'm guessing that they were waiting for whomever to come back with directions or something. I hadn't driven stick for years but in Italy on vacation it was the only option. So fun. Like riding a bike, yes. I'm shocked that there were no accidents. I kept waiting for a team to ram the car in front of them.
