Wait a minute - I'm about to go wash my hair and as I walk past the TV, I see a preview of this idiot in flip flops doing a race???? Even if she didn't have plantar fasciitis, that can't be good. What was she thinking?
-
Yeah, I was looking around to see if everyone else needed help getting in the water, but I don't think so. So she can't even walk on an uneven shoreline? Jeez. And the 'ooh' 'oohs,' c'mon. She sounds like a cuckoo. As far as the bathing suit, I'm of two minds. She needs to wear something to get in the water and she's a big girl, so whatever she wears, she's gonna look big. That said, with bare legs, her height is really apparent and she looks huge and out of proportion. Why is she scared? Is she afraid of the water? Of being on the surf board? Legitimate question (as opposed to Twit bashing). Most people, even if they aren't very good at it, are usually excited about being on a surfboard or in the ocean in Hawaii. I didn't know you could surf on your stomach. I might actually put that on my bucket list.

Glen's got handouts!

Well, if Twit actually has plantar fasciitis, I don't know how she's going to do a race. I had it a couple of years ago and it was terrible.

"We'll meet and then go over the binder." Ha! A man after my own heart.

Hey, I was 23. In a very long labor. I wasn't thinking about diversity, other people, or whatever. I was thinking about when was I gonna have this baby and was it gonna kill me to do so. I've marched, I've demonstrated, I've boycotted, probably for many more years than some people here have been alive. I was a black woman in an interracial marriage. I don't have to prove my cultural awareness to anyone.
-
This made me laugh. When I was in labor (that 2 day, back labor w/a 10 lb baby I mentioned earlier), the woman next to me was just screaming up a storm. The nurses would see her, then come to my room. They didn't look happy. Finally, I asked if the woman was having difficulties and was told no, some cultures (graciously put) have differences as to acceptable behavior in child birth. Whatever it was, it sure made me shut the heck up as I didn't need ticked off nurses working with me. : )

I am so glad I didn't see this at work. They would have had to carry me out.

Until recently, it's been around 8-15 degrees here in Iowa. I have yet needed to wear my boots in the house. Is it colder in Galveston than I think it is?

I've been listening to Zeppelin.

"I drank some of it because I couldn't waste it." Probably not the right thing to do, but I understand. : ) I don't drink, but if someone told me to dump the diet Pepsi, yeah, I'd knock back a few before trashing the rest.

Wait a minute - I went thru the Detroit airport a few months ago and the walk with baggage about killed me. On the way back home, I got a wheelchair (apparently they don't use the golf carts, which would have been fine). Why didn't he get assistance? That's what it's there for. I've had to get help a couple of times over the years, and with what they charge for a ticket, they should have carried me on a litter with little girls throwing roses in front of me. Get help when you need it and stop complaining!

If he doesn't want people to stare at his leg, why not wear long pants? Shesh.

I guess anyone can get an infection, but do any of the health professionals on here know if weight is a contributing factor? I'm not looking to blame James for the infection, I just wonder, since people have all kinds of leg surgeries w/o infections that make them lose their legs.
-
It's kind of sad to see how many of the guys were encouraged to be big to play sports, but then were unable to lose the weight when they stopped playing.

I think people stopped cranking cars in the 1930's. It's interesting that regions have retained references or manners of speech that aren't even relevant today. It's not a knock, it's an observation.
-
"I've already got the car cranked up." There are parts of this country that just amaze me... [snack cakes, etc.] are the only things he's got left because that's what got him to where he is. He'd have something else in life if he ate something else.

How y'all doin'? Jeez - lives in the garage... good start.

I don't know, but it was kind of disturbing. I thought she was too heavy for the swing, as well.

I don't have to be going abroad to need my trip to be organized like that. Though I admit I never copied off the room layouts. Some people just don't appreciate organization.

I understand Babs (sadly). I remember going to a placement office and they wanted to send me on an interviews at the Capitol (yeah, that one). I demurred - I don't have on stockings! They still sent me, but I felt very out of place. I'm not sure if I had my white gloves or not.

Gosh, can she get anymore vulgar in mixed company? And yes, this hippie girl is officially an old lady. I find her repellent. There is no sense of what is private or shared only amongst those in the delivery room.

I think there is care and then there is care. When I practiced law, I used to do trusts for parents of adult schizophrenics. This enabled the adult to get benefits but also have some access to additional money for a better apartment, travel, etc. Without the trust, the adult child would have to spend down their inheritance (we're not talking millions here) before being eligible for benefits. These adults lived on their own, tho frequently they were part of a social worker's case load. It's been awhile since I've looked into this kind of thing, but I would argue that a grown person who can get around in a wheelchair and whose primary disability is a fondness for pizza and brownies does not require care the same way someone on a ventilator or is paralyzed from the neck down does. Blind people live on their own. People who have had strokes or are in wheelchairs and with amputations live on their own. Shoot, elderly people in their 80's and 90's live on their own. If I'm the judge, I'm gonna say that her parents no longer have a duty to care for her. I'm not happy putting Karina on the public dole, but maybe that's necessary until she loses more weight and becomes ambulatory.

Father in heaven, I wish my mother would do this to one of my sisters. It would make everyone's life so much better.

I thought the same thing. Although, unless he opted to pay the penalty, wasn't Obamacare still in force? Wouldn't he have to have some kind of insurance? Did Obamacare even cover addition/mental health?
