I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I guess everywhere is different. My stepfather died maybe 8 yrs ago. He did hospice at home and the county (outside of DC) provided for all kinds of things - Meals on Wheels, visiting nurse, a hospital bed, and light housekeeping (which my mother didn't take, but that's because she wanted to be able to complain about something). I just checked and it looks like, since most of these people are probably on Medicaid, that they do have access to some home health care. I know government aid isn't as expansive as what people may get if they pay for it themselves, but it's something.

I don't understand why these people, who must be getting assistance of some kind, don't have home health care aides to help with this stuff. Is is possible for a minor to be paid for care-giving? Is that why they have their kids helping? You'd think that a sense of modesty would come in at some point...

Or is he giving her sex for the reward of letting him feed her? Something else I've been thinking about. How many morbidly obese are in their homes, maybe bed bound, being cared for by family? It doesn't seem that the people on this show have home health aides, visiting nurses, or whatever, just enslaved family members, including children, who wipe down, grease up, and bathe the obese person. Not only is this a lot of work for people who aren't really trained to do it, but the obese person must be in pain that isn't being controlled because they aren't seeing healthcare practitioners, from dentists to dermatologists. What an awful way to live.

I didn't see them put American cheese in the rice (yuck) and I've never put cheese in rice on my own, but I've certainly had cheddar broccoli rice from a mix. Why is this such a surprise to people? Was it the way they made it?

Food in the freaking hospital bed. Send her home and give the surgery to the daughter.

I'm not a drinker, but after I had surgery at a hospital in Philly, there was wine and the best ravioli I've ever had in my life.

I'm sure Dr Carter walked out of there thinking no way in hell this woman is going to do another lick of exercise.

I think it depends on the hospital. My son was in a few years ago and I thought the food choices were pretty good; they make a point to have vegetarian and vegan choices, which is important to me. I work next to the hospital, and many of my co-workers frequently eat there. I've been through it a couple of times when I've had business over there and it's not bad. I don't think anyone should be eating commercial food like that everyday, though.

OMG lady - you're eating while they reinforce the ramp and you say you're doing something about your weight?? And she's loud and wrong with the ambulance crew. I dislike people like that. I may have to turn the sound off. She sounds drunk.

Ooh - wait a minute. I may have to pay for the daughter's WLS myself. I've never seen a family member be that strong with the obese person. I hope she keeps it up and doesn't let mom intimidate her. No. You don't need to ease into it. You've got 643 pounds of 'easing in' in you.

Yeah. I hope I'm gonna be able to snark on this one. It's not looking good so far. I would like to ask her how she found a man while bed bound. That's a neat trick to have. Oh wait - another one who will yell and curse if she doesn't get the food she wants, and is hateful to her children. Let the snarking continue!

Just because I've never seen stomach surfing before, and because Glen also did it - is this something they do for the elderly or disabled who want to have a 'surfing' experience? Serious question. If so, Twit should be embarrassed to have to do it that way. If she's so fabulous, why not stand up and surf? I have no problem if she fell down - she's new at it. But you'd think she'd be able to at least try standing up. I have to admit to having a little moment when they were in the restaurant. If my husband had lived, we'd be celebrating 42 years this year. Oh well.
