  1. Wait - peanut butter AND bananas plus a giant sized glass of OJ for the diabetic father? What are these people thinking? 20 yrs diabetic here - and yes, I eat PB (docs are fine with it, actually, but then, I'm not 600 lbs), but the bread & bananas and fruit juice? People think if it's not straight up white sugar it's ok, but it isn't. Wow. Someone needs a diabetic nutritionist.
  2. This freaks me out so much. If my husband had lived, he'd be 70 this year. I can't think of all those guys being in their 70s now. 😱 I'm still just an old tofu-eating hippie girl, myself. btw - We lived in Ann Arbor when Eden Foods was just a restaurant and bakery. I guess they're old now, too. 😊 So, is our girl Kassandra pregnant?
  3. Plus - I like how Dr Now said it wasn't just some BP on bread. No kidding. He's got a lot of weight to maintain and if he only lost 20-odd lbs, he was eating more than peanut butter.
  4. Dr Now is not fooling with these people any more. Plus, I must say I like how these Texans say "Sir." Damn right. Treat Dr Now with respect.
  5. I must have been doing my nails when that happened - did he say that??
  6. Whew - almost knocked over a bottle of nail polish in my lap. That's what I get for not paying full attention to the show.
  7. Another family that can't stop an 8 yr old from eating. How is that possible?
  8. I got a Dr Now "800 lb of food in you" magnet, but the picture is too big to upload. I don't know how; it's just on my phone, but anyway, I'm very happy. 😄
  9. How y'all doing? My eating habit is cheese and crackers. Not exactly on my keto plan, but there you are.
  10. First, Buddy is a loser. If Twit thinks her parents are going to accept him as is, she's high. Second, Buddy wants to be a comedian? A - no talent. B - stupid (it's actually helpful if you know about current events, or psychology, or a particular culture, etc. ) C - jeez, I've heard there are no alcoholic or drug addict comedians, so he should be fine. /sarcasm. Third - no one shows up for her event? Yass! Please don't let it be a teaser and 500 people show at the last minute.
  11. I was FB friends with him, and yes, he passed away years ago. Very sad. Darn - I got a Dr Now '800 lb of food in you' magnet and I can't post the pic. It's just from my phone, but Previously says it's too big to post. : (
  12. Whoa - no kidding. I wondered how old she was and expected her to be younger than her appearance, but jeez.
  13. My stepfather died at home from lung cancer. My son and his friend had come for a last visit and my mother made them take the mattress down to the trash room (big apartment building). She was not going to sleep on that. I can't figure out how to add another quote after submitting one, but anyway... I understand how folks might feel that TLC is looking for the drama rather than people who will work the program, but I will say this - I think everyone - Dr Now, the crew, the obesee selection team, the obesee, think that they will work the program and wind up better off. What we often end up seeing, however, is the reality of individuals who are 600+ lbs and usually have a lot of other problems besides eating, whether it's spouse/partner issues or a need for some in-depth counseling to deal with the major trauma in their lives. I certainly think that Dr. Now is accepting obesees so that they have a chance to live. Yeah, there is drama, but he isn't doing these surgeries for the drama.
  14. Good point. My grown son had his tonsils out a few years ago and had to stay over night (apparently he had the biggest tonsils they'd ever seen and were afraid he might bleed to death if he started bleeding at home) and he had to use compression socks just for one night - what the heck do these people do who don't ever move around?
  15. I'm answering this at work when I should be...working, but I had to comment about the idea that these people get minimal diet instruction. I've mentioned before, that I looked into WLS. I got as far as an appointment for the shrink, and decided against it. I had a group meeting w/the dietitian. We got a big, glossy book on foods and food sizes, with pictures. The dietitian answered questions by email. They catered to my lactose intolerance and had vegetarian options. I expect Dr. Now, and most bariatric surgeons, have similar set ups. We don't see everything. I give some of them a few tries at the diet because it is so different for them, however, the successful ones eventually get the knack. They have to, or they won't lose the weight at the rate Dr Now requests. I bet they can contact the dietitian as needed - and we've seen some house calls. We also see people who looked like they'd be major failures (like Susan) understand what they have to do, do it, and be successful. I blame the lack of weight loss right on the people who are not losing weight. They have the info, they decide they don't want to use it.
  16. I'm gonna stop with that. How they get people to wait on them hand and foot instead of punching them out, I don't know.
  17. How are you that big and only lose 8 lbs??? They must be delusional about what they are eating, no? Most diets give you the amount of food you can eat - why didn't they measure their food? I note that many of the successful obesees do keep a food journal or measure out their food and have measured portions available to eat. Still, you'd think that any reduction would have resulted in more than an 8 lb loss. "Before y'all's poor hygiene kills you." Dang. A savage Iranian with a Texas accent.
  18. So, I actually paid for this thing and am watching close up on the computer 'cause I sure missed a lot of the detail y'all were talking about in chat. Here's a thought - many (most? all?) of the obesees say that food is the only thing that they have to look forward to. None of them read; I think only Sean knitted, but I don't see any other crafts; none of them paint; or make models; or embroider; or any of the myriad of activities that people do to enjoy themselves. No wonder all they do is eat. Side note - how do you get a hole in the BACK of your nightgown? I dislike this woman, but I am sure that the thing on her leg is painful as heck. These folks don't stop problems before they get too big; I don't know how you ignore that kind of pain.
  19. That was my thought - why not try harder to lose weight for herself and in tribute to her father, who, I assume, wanted her to lose weight. But victims don't do that; it stops them from being a victim.
  20. No, no one else knows what it is to lose a spouse or father. None of those families of service people or first responders, no one. You're special. Go eat yourself into a coma. The 'option' is for you to stop the eff eating.
  21. I was gonna ask about that, too. I thought it was maybe from the crying?
