  1. Yeah Dalton is basically a ringer because of that but he's so good I don't care. :D Besides, the experience is refreshing in comparison to all these clearly green 15 and 16 year olds they insist on putting through.
  2. I seem to remember Hollywood Week was taped around Halloween I thought and the Top 51 showcase I remember definitely was in December. Yet Trent still had the mono around this time. Last week the first half of the top 24 taped and this week the other half will tape. Hopefully he is at least better by now? I mean... it's February.
  3. Nope, don't think so. In much older videos his eyes are exactly the same. Unless he's worn contacts his entire life.
  4. The eyes, the hair, the smile... :) Yeah poor Trent. Couldn't be a worse time to come down with mono. And I've read in some cases people can have it for literally months. And if he's not getting sufficient rest because he has to do these performances, interviews, etc. it's only going to delay his recovery process. :/ I hope by the time the live shows come around he's recovered.
  5. It pleases my heart to see so many rooting for my boy Dalton. :D
  6. Does Shelbie Z count? I don't think majority of those people you listed count as "cut from Idol" successes, considering that Colbie, Amber, and Hillary all never even made it past the first round. Seriously? This made me laugh out loud! I would make out with Dalton too but I'm only 22 so I don't feel ashamed about it lol. He does seem a bit mature for his age. I only wear pantyhose if I'm wearing a skirt and it's cold. If you guys are interested in Dalton, I highly recommend checking out some of his pre-Idol work. IMO he's barely scratched the surface on Idol of what he can truly do. He's a fabulous songwriter. I can PM you both some direct video links if you'd like. He has an EP on iTunes as well from his band Fly Away Hero that's a really good alternative pop rock album. Yes I hate Avalon's ugly ill-fitting sweaters. Being a tomboy is fine, she doesn't have to wear dresses or heels if she doesn't want to, but there's a way to dress tomboy and still be stylish. The ugly sweaters need to desperately go but I have the feeling she will hold onto them like P2 with his gray shirts. Avalon gives me MK vibes and I kind of think she might only go as far as MK did, bowing out around top 10 somewhere. Ditto my comment above about Dalton for you as well, if you're interested in more from him, I can gladly PM you some direct links. :)
  7. The best seasons of RHNJ was when Danielle was on. She was the freaking worst but she knew how to bring the drama and get a rise out of the other women. Since she left it became all about Teresa's issues with Joe and Melissa (zzzzz) and then her prison sentence (also zzzzz). I miss the golden days of Danielle starting fights at the Brownstone.
  8. I'm shocked as well. She must have either bombed hard or they think she is a threat to TCO Tristan.
  9. Anyone else see the irony in Lindita losing to La'Porsha? She lost a ton of weight because she thought it would help her but still lost to a large sized woman anyway.
  10. There are no wild cards in the top 24, the judges are going to choose 8 from the top 14 and we get to pick the last 2 spots from 6 wild cards. Emily is cut for good.
  11. It amuses me more when they say "Something is missing, there's things you need to work on, you're so young," BUT YOURE IN THE TOP 24!
  12. I read those spoilers too and I was shocked to see Emily cut. If any female has a chance of winning, it'd be the young pretty blonde country girl, wouldn't it? The others I am not shocked about. And I totally agree, I hate how much power the "judges" have this season. I hope it backfires on them and a WGWG wins again. There's a few quite deserving ones IMO- Dalton, MacKenzie, and Trent.
  13. IdolForums.com. It's another fan site for American Idol as well as The Voice and other competition shows.
  14. I've watched several interviews of Dalton and he really is that self-deprecating and humble. I liked how he wanted to shake hands with all the judges at the end. I like Avalon's tomboy personality as well. I'm kind of a tomboy too so I find her relatable in that way and a breath of fresh air in comparison to the Stephany's and Sonikas of the competition.
  15. Stephany Negrete - She's fodder. This performance was a strong vocal but she brings nothing else to the table. Fodder. Shelbie Z - I'm over her too. Again, strong voice, brings nothing else original to the table. She tries way too hard. And she seems a bit full of herself IMO. Some folks on MJs pointed out she was wearing a shirt with her own name on it? Ugh. Michelle Marie - This was not that bad of a performance, better than some of her others, but she was never going to be a favorite with voters. (Why in the voiceover did Ryan call her an "early favorite?" Da fuq? Nobody liked this chick ever.) But for being so young, she took the whole thing in stride with a damn positive attitude and that is one quality about her that will take her very far in life. As annoying as I thought she was, the girl has a heart of gold, you have to give her that. She's a sweetie and she seemed so happy and just thankful to even be on her favorite TV show and I'm happy she said she had the time of her life doing it. That's the right attitude to have. Collette Lush - Man, oh man. I loved her initial audition but she tanked so hard this round. The cut was justified, unfortunately. Jessica Cabral - WTF???? Ok I'm not as crazy over Jessica as several others are/were, but I really did like her quite a bit, thought she was easily one of the strongest females, and she's cut? I'm calling major shenanigans on this one, as they never showed even 1 second of her showcase performance. I'm assuming she did not tank. The producers probably knew she did well and didn't want to provide any justification for her getting cut. I'm just confused that if they want a female winner so badly why they cut one of their strongest? Not marketable enough? I feel terrible for her that hers was the only showcase not even montaged, let alone shown at all, even if she had possibly done poorly. She at least deserved that. Jessica Clark/Ameet Kanon/Terrian Bass - Whatever. Pretty obvious they were all going home as we barely saw them, MacKenzie Bourg - OMG get it baby! One of the best of the night. Mac is one of my fave guys. I loved that rendition of Can't Help Falling In Love. My only problem is that his voice gets thin and weak on the higher parts. Hope a vocal coach can assist him with that. Because otherwise I think he's great and has a real shot at winning. Love him! And he's so cute and adorable too. Like a geeky Kris Allen with glasses. Trent Harmon – Poor thing is STILL sick? I’m amazed he can still sing even in spite of the illness. Whether you love him or hate him, I think he deserves credit for being able to perform under such a serious illness. Like he said, Hollywood Week would be a nightmare for anyone with 100% perfect health, but imagine going through it with a serious illness like that? If he can do it while being this sick, he’s ready for this. The live shows will be a piece of cake for him after this. Trent is one of my fave guys also, so happy he made it through. I think the fact he’s been able to perform this good while sick is what sealed the deal. He has the pro attitude already. Good for him. Jenna Renae/James VIII/Kory Wheeler/Adam Lasher – Too bad we didn’t get to see much of Adam (or any of Adam?) at all this week. He’s also one of my fave guys. Kory, James, and Jenna are all fodder. Buh-bye. Jeneve Rose Mitchell – NO. Just no!!! She’s honestly the worst of the entire top 24. I don’t think her voice is good at all and that arrangement of Ring of Fire was terrible and weird. Jessica Cabral was sacrificed for this? I don’t blame some of the contestants later on (Chynna, Dalton) giving a side eye to what was happening. Heh. The second the public gets to vote, back to the mountain she goes. CJ Johnson – He’s good but there’s something about him that rubs me the wrong way. Like he’s too used to being a bar singer. I think that’s what it is. Amelia Eisenhower – She just sounds way too young right now. She’s a 15 year old that sounds 15 (or 16 now, whatever). She is a good violinist though. She reminds me of Lindsey Stirling. But I think she needs a few years for her voice to mature. She is gorgeous though, very striking. Lee Jean – This was one of his better performances, vocally, and he tried to be a little cute with the audience this time, but I still feel he’s undercooked. I had to kind of agree with JLo calling him out for that shushing thing he kept doing. Avalon Young – She has one of the most current sounding voices of the females. I like her but don’t love her yet. Chynna Sherod/Mary Williams/Zach Person – OMG Chynna my CT girl throwing major shade! At least girl is keeping it real. She was probably referencing the Jessica vs Jeneve tragedy. Bahahaha Dalton Rapattoni – MY FAVE. I wasn’t crazy about this song choice though, way too boyband (well duh). I watched his full performance on VEVO though and it’s a lot better than what those few seconds showed. His hair and outfit were so on point tonight. And he dug in the right emotions for the song. But I wish he had chosen something different altogether. I guess it doesn’t matter because HE’S IN THE TOP 24. I got nervous when Harry said he was inconsistent until he explained that was a good thing. I do feel like Dalton’s unpredictability will shake things up and make things interesting. I didn’t like how he said all this stuff about being insecure onstage right before his performance though. I’m surprised that with all his showbiz experience that he’s had such a rough time in HW. You could also tell when he was throwing shade like Chynna he was also thinking WTF about the Jessica/Jeneve thing. Bahahahaha I don’t care, I still love him anyway. This competition would be so boring without him and his wacky sense of humor. Manny Tores – I feel like I should like him but I don’t. He just doesn’t do anything for me. Laurel Wright/Anatalia Villaranda/Isaac Cole/Kassy Levels/Andrew Russian Kid/Jon Klassen – Saw that one coming. Glad Country Bieber is gone. Kassy Levels was good though. Thomas Stringfellow – I honestly thought when they were talking about “heartbreak” that they were going to say his grandma died right before the showcase or something. Really? Stupid girlfriend drama? Whatever. His girlfriend is an idiot because now Thomas has all the teeny bopper girls stalking him on Twitter now LOL. OMG his voice grates on my nerves with that fucking hiccupping thing he does AT. THE. END. OF. EVERY. FUCKING. PHRASE!!!!!!!! He actually has a good voice if he would just fucking stop that shit right now. Get him to the vocal coaches quick! I won’t be able to stand watching him every week if we have to suffer through that fucking mess. Sonika Vaid – Pretty voice but I agree something is missing. I don’t get why the judges said this (and also about Lee as well) and then put them through. Shouldn’t that mean if you have some issues to work out that you shouldn’t go through? Whatever. She has a nice, pleasant voice, but if this is what we’re going to get every week, she won’t last long. Zzzzzzz Malie Delgado – I really liked her but it was obvious she was not going to get through, considering how little we saw of her and it was mostly just screw-ups. That last performance was pretty bad, terrible song choice. Oh well. Olivia Rox – Best performance I’ve probably seen of her yet. There’s still something about her I don’t like though. She comes off like a Disney character to me. Which is funny because I liked Jax from last year even though everyone said she was calculated. I feel like Olivia is too but in a more Disney-ish way. Emily Brooke – One of my fave girls. She totally deserved to make it this year. She has improved so much. Sarah Sturm/Jordyn Simone/Tiffany/Kayla Mickelsen/Mionne Destiny – Oh no, Lee Jean lost his girlfriend! The rest… who, who, and who? I remember Jordyn from her audition but we never saw her since. Gianna Isabella – O.M.G. Enough with the fucking Brenda K Starr nonsense already. This story is beginning to grate as much as Tristan’s army mom sob story and Jeneve's off the grid story. We. Get. It!!!!! She is the daughter of some one hit wonder from the 1980s. Who cares. It was a dumb idea to sing her mom’s song. Be your own artist, girl. And her mom is way too pushy and a totally momager. BACK OFF. These 2 need to get off the screen already. I predict Gianna is fodder. Once the audience can vote, see ya. Jenn Blosil – I. LOVE. HER. Go J Blo! She is so weird and I love it. She’s so fucking funny but when she comes out to sing, she’s 100% business. Perfect. Really ballsy song choice too. She is one to watch IMO and the dark horse in this competition. Christian Eason/Ariel Sprague/Kelsie Watts/Shevonne Philidor – Who, who, who, and who? Tristan MacIntosh – Easily her best performance yet. I’m still not feeling her though. Her personality is just completely tainted for me. There’s nothing about her that makes me want to root for her at all. And producers, STFU about the army mom sob story already. We get it. Jordan Sasser vs Kacye Haynes – Da fuq? Why did it come down to these 2? They are nothing alike at all… While I liked Kacye in his audition I didn’t think this was a good performance from him and he was justifiably cut. Jordan is actually a technically great singer. But I hate that hair man and it looked even worse out of its bun. I hope the stylists seize him and give him a better haircut. PLEASE. La’Porsha Renae vs Lindita – Ok, these 2 I can understand putting together. You could tell when Lindita found out she was against La’Porsha she knew she was done. I actually didn’t think anything about La’Porsha’s HOTRS was anything spectacular but she was still better than Lindita, who chose a terrible song (not that the song itself is bad, but bad for a singing competition). Out of the top 24 I love/really like (in order of fave to least fave): Dalton MacKenzie Trent Emily Jenn La’Porsha Sonika In between: Avalon Thomas Jordan Tristan CJ Olivia Gianna Amelia Lee Jean Flat out just don’t like: Stephany Shelbie Z Manny Jeneve In case anyone did not see the tag onscreen at the end, all of the top 24 performances (only of those who were admitted to the top 24) are up online in full at Vevo.com/AmericanIdol. Jessica Cabral’s performance is the only one I think we did not even see a glimpse of and it’s not online because she didn’t make top 24. I smell something fishy with that one. Overall, a mostly decent top 24. There are a few WTFs (Jeneve?), everyone else is either deserving or at least has a solid track record so far. Jeneve is the only one I don’t think should be there at all.
  16. Michelle Marie's mom wrote on IDF that Michelle ended up contracting mono from spending too much time around Trent. So much for keeping him away from all the other contestants.
  17. To their credit they had to choose from a limited list of songs. It's not their fault if most of them were stuff like A Thousand Years. Also most of the time upbeat songs do not showcase the voice well enough. It makes perfect sense why most of them chose ballads, especially if that was pretty much all their options.
  18. Because as long as he's not stealing a car, he thinks it's ok to take $300 sunglasses.
  19. Olivia Rox also performed an original song. It seems like they could either choose from that very limited list (and only 3 people could perform the same song) or they could do an original. Of course if you don't have any original songs or don't think the ones you do have are good enough, you're stuck choosing from the list, so those who had good originals fared well this round. I really enjoyed both songs from Olivia and Mackenzie. It is an iconic performance from him but I dislike the idea of contestants never being able to perform something just because it was "iconic" for another contestant. It might be a smart idea for the contestant so as to not draw comparisons, which will most likely be unfavorable, but for the musical aspect of it, I don't see why not. I don't think Dalton is very much like Adam Lambert, except basically in styling, but I just meant that a lot of people compare them or get a similar vibe and I'm just hoping that means he's picked up some fans who want to vote for him and take him far like they did for Adam. I wasn't comparing them as artists because I don't even think they are really that musically or vocally similar. I said on IDF that if the finale ended up being Dalton vs. Mackenzie it would be like a repeat of Kris vs Adam, oh how I only wish that could happen.
  20. Yup perfect bookend to Kelly that they're looking for.
  21. Mackenzie needs to follow the P2 and Alex Preston songbook and do "Volcano" at some point. I've seen several people compare Dalton to Adam Lambert and I hope that bodes well for how well he will do on the show, since Adam was and still is one of the most popular contestants ever to date. Haha yeah I hated that squatting thing too, that was... uncomfortable. IMO Shelbie has a great voice, very powerful, but she's generic as hell. I think she's ultimately just a really good karaoke singer, not the next country superstar. I hope that you are right that Tristan is not TCO because it's certainly come across that way to me since before her audition even aired (they posted it early online before the premiere to drum up interest). I also hope they put some deserving guys through too.
  22. Yes Tristan made the top 51. I also will gladly not be voting for her. She has a voice in there but IMO needs a few more years to really figure out what to do with it. She is not vocally or emotionally ready for this IMO.
  23. Heh I like him too. Honestly I thought it was a pretty mature and insightful response that he said it's good to be uncomfortable and go outside your comfort zone. He has the right attitude towards the competition IMO because that is what it's going to be all about and he seems prepared to have do that, while some of the others do not.
  24. OMG I did not like how they crammed so many performances and we only got to see like 10 seconds of each. There were also many contestants we didn't get to see that I was hoping to see (La'Porsha, Trent, Adam). On the other hand, they highlighted some we haven't seen as much of like Mackenzie, so that was good. The super short performances sucked though. Honestly I feel like very few people actually came out swinging this round, for most it was not their best. It must have been a tough week for all of them. So what I got from it is that they could either choose a song from a short list or they could do an original? Interesting. Stephany Negrete - Set Fire to the Rain - So much better than her audition. She has a Cher-like quality to her tone. But all she is is a decent voice IMO. I'm not seeing an artist up there. Thomas Stringfellow - A Thousand Years - We didn't see enough, IMO. From the 2 lines I heard he sounded good (even if he still does that annoying squeaking thing I hate). Would have liked to have heard more than 10 seconds of it. Avalon Young - One Last Time - Interesting arrangement. Would have liked to have heard more, she's good. Olivia Rox - Original song - OMG why did they have her talk over almost all of the performance? From the few bits I heard of the song it sounded like it was probably pretty good, but I couldn't hear anything because of the voiceover. John Wayne Shulz - John 3:16 - That hat schtick was so scripted. I liked him in his audition but this performance was so flat. It seemed very one-note and not much range. Not a good song at this stage in the competition but I guess they didn't have much choice, eh? He should have worn the hat, or at least found a new one to wear. He looks odd without it. There was also not much emotional connection to this performance, maybe 'cause the song itself reeks. Mackenzie Bourg - Original song "Roses" - OMG Love! I'm so glad we got to see more of him tonight. Great original song. Only thing I didn't like was that his high notes are kind of weak and breathy. But I like him, he's good. And really cute. Shelbie Z - Alone - She sounded great from the few seconds they showed of her. But I think she's kind of pretentious. Who does she think she is with that American flag thing on her mic? Steven Tyler? And then after she found out she made it to the top 51 she says "I'm quitting my job because I'm going to be the next American Idol!" Girl, you made the top 51, not the finale. Calm down. Getting a bit head of ourselves aren't we? Kory Wheeler - Fix You - I did not like what I heard in this brief snippet. I didn't even recognize the song until I heard the line "Fix you." Ok then. James Dawson VIII - Wicked Game - He actually sounded good here, much better than his audition. He has a very distinct voice IMO. I don't think he is as bad as people say he is. He just has a very unusual voice and it's sort of an "acquired taste" type of sound IMO. Tristan Macintosh - What Hurts the Most - Ugh, this girl cannot get off my screen fast enough. Enough with her already. Enough with the army mom sob story. Enough with the princess whining and crying until someone was nice enough to let her have their song. She will not survive this competition if she gets this upset over not getting her way. I understand emotions run high at this point of the competition, but seriously, it's only going to get worse and much harder from here. She is way too young to handle this. Did not see anyone else reacting like this, even the other young kids. She screams "spoiled princess used to getting her way" to me. Girl, bye. Sonika Vaid - One Last Time - I'm fully on board with this girl now since her audition. Beautiful voice, beautiful tone. So simple and refreshing. But she needs to connect better onstage I think. She needs some serious coaching in stage presence and interacting with the audience. Lee Jean - Stitches - His voice is good but there's nothing going on in his eyes. No connection. Sarah Sturm - Somewhere Only We Know - She really strained on those high notes. Still better than her original audition though. But OMG the "we're BFFs" skit was so scripted it wasn't even a bit believable. Jax and Qassim 2.0. Jenn Blosil - True Colors - OMG why did she think she did bad? She was one of the best tonight! Her offstage space cadet personality confuses me, but I love her voice and when she gets onstage. Emily Brooke - What Hurts the Most - Her version was miles better than Tristan's, even though she was clearly struggling with illness. Sucked it was in the wrong key for her. But you didn't see her cry and throw a tantrum over it, she just rolled with it and did her best. Malie Delgado - Stitches - Ironic song choice, this girl clearly needed some stitches for her throat. I love her voice and love the rasp when she's ill. I hope the judges are a little more understanding for those who are very clearly suffering from illness or who obviously have tired voices. How nice of her to give up her song to the whiny brat. Mionne Dynasty - Chains - Who the hell was this girl? Clearly she didn't make it far if we're just seeing her now. She was ok, but nothing remarkable. Jessica Cabral - I don't remember what song she sang, but damn, this is what she sounds like at only 50%? She is better than most at 100%. Joshua Wicker - A Thousand Years - Yeah this was not good. CJ Johnson - Go Your Own Way - Not his best nor a great song to show off his voice but at least the performance part was on point. Jeneve Rose Mitchell - Danny's Song - I didn't think this was a particularly good vocal from her. Dalton Rapattoni - Hopelessly Devoted To You - They saved my fave for last! I love Dalton, he is my snowflake this year. And I love that they showed so much of him in this episode. But I have to say I don't think that was quite his best. But at least he brought out the performance chops, unlike so many of the others. He is clearly capable of handling what the competition is going to throw at them, while I'm not so sure about some of the others they put through. He knows how to play to the cameras well. The big fuss they made over the "guitar malfunction" drama was just mega stupid. The editors really aren't trying this year, are they? Dalton <3 I hate those stupid judge fakeouts. I hope tomorrow night they show us more than 10 seconds of each person's performance. But I have the feeling it's going to be one long recap show of each top 24's entire Idol journey thus far with only a few seconds of the showcase performances. Meh. My faves tonight (of longer performances): Mackenzie Sonika Jenn Emily Jessica Dalton Wish we could have seen: La'Porsha Adam Trent Collette
