I must preface this by saying I abhor family violence of any type, but I would leap off my sofa cheering if Mr. Mason said to Daisy, "As your surrogate father, I feel I must do this," and then administered a sound spanking. Daisy has been transformed into a thoroughly unlikeable character in this final season. I can't believe that Mary didn't know anything about the paintings and so on. She strikes me as the kind of person who would know the entire inventory of the house, and the value of each item, from the paintings to the teaspoons. I think she would consider it her duty as the mother of the heir.

Yes, this is the biggest professional disappointment you've had, Cam, but you're supposed to be an adult, not a petulant child. Not a good look for you, or for your team.
-
Maybe the NFL will finally address the big question of just what the hell is a catch in this offseason. It's an issue in every game, it's called one way one week and a different way the next week DId it seem that Peyton barely recognized his children? It was as if Jim Nantz had to tell him who those two small people were.

Classy move by Norman to congratulate Peyton. Very happy for Owen Daniels, former Badger! I'm old - my first Super Bowl was SB I - vague memories of huddling in front of the black & white TV to watch it.
-
Loved the shot of the Manning family, with the big sigh of relief. I was never the biggest fan of Peyton Manning, but I have a soft spot for him after watching him cheer Eli to his first SB win - Peyton was living and dying with each play and I thought what a big brother! MVP should be the entire Denver defense. Cam is losing his cool.
-
That challenge was Mike McCarthy-esque. Carolina got a few yards, but now is out of challenges. Has Ron Rivera watched any games this year? Seen how terrible the officiating has been? I wouldn't want to be out of challenges before the first half ends.
-
Every SB has a MVP, but usually there is a also what I like to call the game goat, the one person who screws up in spectacular fashion. Congratulations, Talib, you are the early frontrunner for game goat! I didn't watch the pregame show - did Jim Nantz show up periodically to announce it was almost time for the halftime show?

I think Mary will do something awful to Edith about Marigold - try to sabotage her with Bertie or in their social circle. Mary and Edith seem to be siblings who should never be in the same city, let alone living under the same roof. I kept thinking of the poor servants who would have been required to clean up the dining room. What an awful job that would be. Like cleaning up a crime scene. Although I'm sure the laundry workers are used to cleaning blood out of clothing, with all those women in the house and feminine protection not quite what it is in 2016. Michelle Dockery is looking quite thin, but wasn't this filmed when her fiancé was going through his cancer battle?

In Memoriam: Entertainment Industry Celebrity Deaths
Calvada replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Whoever is doing the in Memoriam segment for the upcoming Grammys is somewhere saying "WTF - another one to add?" Love the song "September." It has special meaning for me. -
I think the Patriots and their fans are deflated. C'mon, you were all thinking it!

With my team out, I'm reduced to rooting for former Wisconsin Badgers. Three of them on the teams left, I believe. Punter Brad Nortman on Panthers, but I can't root for a punter. So it's between James White (Patriots) and Owen Daniels (Broncos) and James got his SB ring last year, so I'm rooting for Owen, and by default, the Broncos. I'm not really thrilled with that, but what can I do? It's my standard rule once the Packers are out of it. And please, can we have more penalties and challenges? It's our last dose of Ed Hochuli this season, after all. (Calvada says sarcastically) You know Ed is pissed that the weather is not warmer, so he could be in short sleeves.

Charles Woodson won the Heisman, a collegiate national championship, and a Super Bowl. He was never a NFL MVP, but he was an NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

LIfelong Packers fan here. Diappointed but I didn't expect them to win this game, especially once Cobb went out. Congratulations, Arizona, but they've got to be worried about their defense. Aaron Rodgers is the best (IMO) in the league and showed it again yesterday, but good golly, he was doing it with the Pack's 5th and 6th WRs on the depth chart and really mediocre TEs. In August, Packers had Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams, and Ty Montgomery one through four on the depth chart and none of them played in this game except Cobb for a portion of the first quarter. I was on a Packers blog during the game and we were all debating which DB would have to go in at WR if anyone else got hurt. So in those circumstances, it was incredible that the Packers had a chance to win the game. Rodgers is simply amazing, and Packer fans always will be appreciative of all those teams that passed him up in the draft. Also thinking about the Packers gut wrenching OT loss at Arizona in playoffs following 2009 season. That's when the officials missed an obvious blow to the head/face mask call on the fumble returned for the game winning TD in overtime. So the officials have always missed calls, will always miss calls. and it seems inevitable that later we will be discussing some missed or screwed up call in today's games.. But this Packers fan is focusing on the fact that the year following the previous OT loss in Arizona the Packers won it all. So go Pack go!

This is the problem with blows to the head - ends up being a 2 yard penalty? Why not engage in cheap play when there are no real consequences? Perhaps the NFL should have some type of penalty like you have to sit out the next two defensive series if you are a defensive player, or offensive series if you are a offensive player. There has to be more consequences for these guys engaging in these cheap hits. They don't give a damn about a $25 or $50K fine.
-
Burfict suspended for 3 games. Very curious to see what they fine the rest of them, especially the assistant coaches. Maybe this game will set a record for fines. Anyone know what's the previous record for one game? Maybe they should start fining organizations that have repeat offenders. Take some money out of the owners' pockets and maybe the cheap shots will ends. I don't know why they don't eject players for those headhunting type of hits. I remember 10 years or so ago when Donovan Darius of the Jaguars hit Robert Ferguson of the Packers in the head in such a vicious manner I feared for Ferguson's life. Donovan Darius hit him with a forearm across the neck and head, knocking off Ferguson's helmet. Ferguson temporarily lost feeling in his legs and was hospitalized Darius was ejected from the game, as he should have been. Not suspended, but got a huge fine for the time. Something like $60 or $75K. When the Bengals & Steelers play next year, they probably should have double the number of officials they usually do.

Couldn't agree more about Seattle. Pete Carroll left USC one step ahead of the NCAA sheriff. And as a Badgers fan, I liked Russell WIlson during his one year at Wisconsin, but I think he's a sanctimonious prig now. My dislike of him began after the Fail Mary play, when he talked about how it was God's preference that Seattle won. The Vikes should blame AP. who fumbled again, or their offense as a whole, that couldn't score a TD, or maybe their defense which decided to take large portions of the 4th quarter off. It just wasn't a special teams failure, but rather a whole team failure.
-
I agree it was a poorly officiated game - only because the officials failed to toss some of these bozos out of the game. What does it take to be thrown out? I know they don't want to be accused of influencing a playoff game, but they let the game get out of control, IMO. Perhaps if one from each team had been tossed when the cheap shots & scrums started, everyone would have calmed down. How embarrassing for Cincy. As a Packers fan, I remember watching the calvacade of cheap shots and unsportsmanship that Forrest Gregg allowed the Packers to become. I never missed a Packers game, haven't since the 60s, but wrote a letter to the Packers indicating I would not watch their games, buy their shirts, etc., until they got rid of Gregg and his thugs. Of course, the ultimate horror was when Forrest said he would welcome Mossy Cade back on the team after he served his prison sentence for rape. WTF??? So Bengals fans, I feel your pain and understand your embarrassment.. Except of course for those who were throwing trash on the field and cheering injuries. I hope those people enjoy the offseason with Burfict and Jones.
-
Stay classy, Cincinnati. I think Roethlisberger is the biggest pig around, but to cheer his injury? Throw stuff at him while he's being carted off? For the NFL, this 4th quarter can't go quickly enough. Another hard hit and there is going to be a melee. mojoween, great minds apparently think alike!

That Chiefs/Texans game was horrible, unless of course you're a Chiefs fan. That's the only time a blowout is fun to watch, when your team is the one doing the decimating. And we had to listen to Jon Gruden yammering nonstop too. Simply unbearable. As a Badgers fan, I felt very badly for JJ Watt. Hoyer is his QB in a playoff game? Poor guy. But it could be worse. One of my very favorite former Badgers is Joe Thomas, the best LT in the league, and he's stuck in Cleveland.

Michigan State should be grateful to Iowa for making people forget for a moment Sparty's no-show against Alabama. Could Iowa have looked more inept? Most of these games have been blowouts, so I'm not surprised the ratings aren't great. One of the more interesting, down to the wire games was the Holiday Bowl with Wisconsin and USC, and that ended at 1:15 AM central time!

Barbara's father is a minister, so traveling to see family at Christmas is not an option for him. How many health crises can Sister Monica Joan go through at her age? She must have the strongest heart ever. I too miss Chummy. It's funny, I don't miss Jenny at all.

At least the Badgers scored when they played Alabama this year. Even though I root for Big 10 teams in bowl games, a part of me enjoyed watching MSU get shellacked - and Izzo was in the house too
-
We Badger fans love Rafael - even more so because he looks like a guy who enjoys a double serving of fettucine alfredo during halftime. When he hit the winning kick against Nebraska and was jumping up and down, we were joking about seeing reports on CNN of a minor earthquake in the Lincoln area. I always (somewhat reluctantly, I admit) root for Big 10 teams at bowl time.
-
Great win by the Badgers! Lots of jokes on Badgers radio postgame about sitting Jack Cichy in first half of games from now on. And what a tough nut Joel Stave is, getting kicked in the face and coming back to lead them to winning points. Great first year by Paul Chryst - but what the hell was with that sweatshirt? And good kicking by the tub of goo, Gaglianone. Of course, the SEC crew nearly blew it for the Badgers by blowing the whistle on that play down the sidelines. Great job by the Wisconsin defense all game long, sticking it to all those so-called experts (I'm looking at you, ESPN) that said USC would roll over Wisconsin. Really hoping Dave Aranda is back as Def Coordinator next season. One other thing: USC band, nice capes.

Favourite WKRP Moments: Watch For Falling Turkeys
Calvada replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in WKRP In Cincinnati [V]
I will be pulling out the DVDs to watch "Turkeys Away" tonight. A Thanksgiving tradition in my household! Such a funny, funny episode. What's amazing was that this was only their 7th episode and it's a classic. Probably the best episode of the series. It must have taken a lot out of the cast/creators, since it was followed up by the awful "Love Returns" which is one of the worst episodes. I'll also be watching The Bob Newhart Show's "Over the River and Through the Woods" which is another holiday must. I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving and your shopping malls don't get bombed with live turkeys.
