  1. The online mobs swear he was fired, that DIck wolf is deliberately tanking his own shows because he's flat broke & wants the cancelled, that he was told mid-way through filming an episode, that he'd never ever leave because once in an interview he said he'd stay forever....I could go on. HIs story had hit a brick wall, was he forever going to be Voight's shadow & follow his crime bride around cleaning up her shit.... Halstead ceased being relevant when Eid insisted he marry his pet project, perhaps before. It's a shame he devolved into what he did. I don't blame Jesse for wanting out, he had been phoning it in for the past two seasons. The real Jay would never have been part of that disgraceful cover up, he wouldn't rat them out, but he never wanted to be dragged into it either. Voight & Upton destroyed Jay Halstead.
  2. If they had any chemistry at all perhaps it would've been a better scene, there is not much the writers can do with two people who are like the north & south pole in every scene they attempt. Even his 'you are the love of my life' felt like a cheap throw away line to appease the twitter mob... that whole thing was weird. He just looked like he wanted to get as far away as possible.
  3. Hmmm.... where to start. The Voight speech at the end felt clunky and off, Jay never wanted to be Voight so that made no sense at all. It felt like a cop out on the writers behalf. It's also such a lazy arc.... the open ended relationship.. I wish they had the guts to just end it rather than have this 'special' return down the track to satisfy shippers who can't let go only to then end it off screen. Just pull the band-aid off. What did make sense though was the burden of all Voight & Upton's lies, the ease at which they were willing to do it again finally got too heavy. That at least felt like a good moment for Jay, because last season Jay was weak and feckless and it annoyed me no end how easily he just moved on & married her like he hadn't just shat over his moral code. It wasn't just Voight that changed him, Blondie did as well, maybe even moreso. My gut feel from the start was that he'd go back to the Army somehow. But oh my giddy aunt did he nope the fuck out of his marriage & hop on that plane pretty damn quick. One thing I am not looking forward to is the weeks and weeks of miserable Upton. She's miserable at the best of times, but this is going to be painful extra painful. Good luck Jesse, you are free... go forth and do whatever it is you want & forget all about the mess they made of your character.
  4. Hopefully with Mopey gone they might team him up with Torres & we will get to see more of him. Last night had to be one of the worst episodes for ignoring him in a long time. Totally ridiculous.
  5. I honestly don't know what to do with myself... the fact that Burzek started and ended an episode in a good place is just so uncommon. I enjoyed the episode, it had early season vibes about it case wise however it was far from perfect. I know they have other stuff going on but FFS can Atwater get any sort of attention. Fair dinkum LaRoyce should throw himself down the stairs to try & some screentime. As soon as they asked to see the CCTV footage it clicked that she was a accomplice so that sent them in another direction. The death of the kid.... they really need to stop doing that. That's 2 in 2 weeks. Adam lying on the ground next to her & the horse in her hand... yep, I got something in my eye at that moment. Felony Barbie in charge made sense (I feel dirty just typing that) but my giddy aunt, she cannot act. That scene at the bullpen was so poorly acted I do wonder if they gave up eventually filming multiple takes because it was about as good as it gets. Everything with her is so scripted. And good on Will for his typical HIPPA violations. 😂 At least he's never changed. I think I enjoyed her sitting at home alone, wallowing in her own self pity with a bottle of wine a little too much.
  6. No wonder he went to Upton on PD for help, if anyone knows how to cover up a murder its Detective Felony Barbie. 😂
  7. Well Felony Barbie whined her way through yet another episode & almost got Torres killed on his first day because, again, she's pissy. Way to go to make it all about you? Oh he won't look at me....🙄 Hopefully that's an end to the Anna mess.... what started out a strong storyline too many gaps, drawn out angst & making it all about Vupstead killed this storyline & have the last 2 episodes of last season & the 1st one of this season about it was way too much. Adam Ruzek as an undercover druggie was what you'd expect from UC cops... not plonking a baseball cap on your head. I'm still trying to work out what that was about, it was weird... and Kev, standing a couple of metres from the operation looking hot but awfully obvious wasn't particularly smart. In saying that Torres did fit in well, I have some hope for him. Hopefully the writers don't screw it up by making him 'too badass' from the get go. His re-introduction did seem a little too much a rehash of Ruzek in the first season though. I'd rather watch Torres develop than the stagnant Vupstead crapfest. It was the lowest rated premiere ever, and I could totally see why.
  8. I thought they had much more chemistry on screen as friends, it worked... the romantic side of their relationship was one of the worst I've seen. They don't even look like they like each other and I know they weren't given any scenes in the second half but even just irrelevant things like being in a car together there is just this void.... Kim & Adam haven't been together for years but still manage to keep some kind of 'touch' with each other even in the background, Upstead don't, everything seems overly scripted and badly acted and I am not sure why.
  9. I doubt it, having her moping around waiting for Jay to come save her from her latest crime doesn't make for interesting viewing. Send him off to the army & then knock him off over there. They wrote his characater into a corner with Upstead, he became a hypocrite, only willing to do the right thing when it involved Hailey. After changing his whole personality to covering up the unlawful killing of a suspect & blackmailing an FBI agent there was literally nothing else for him. Taking over from Voight was never going to happen, and if he let Hailey get away with what she did what drama could they possibly write for them as a couple? Eid's obsession with Upton ruined Jay as a character & their marriage was the final nail in the coffin. He left the subsequent showrunner with nothing. Keeping Upton tethered to a non-existent character who is never coming back makes no story telling sense, it will severely limit anything they can do with her.
  10. My money is on his rejoining the Rangers. Give him the hero send off he doesn't deserve but might appease the twitter tween harpies a little so they'll stop their ridiculous spamming & tantrums.
  11. I'm pretty sure he's filmed one episode as the usual villan of the week. As is expected the screaming tween twitter mob have lost their collective minds. He had a twitter exchange with Marina which made it sound like he was a guest star.
  12. Brian Luce... he's still there. He was hounded off social media for a while when the BLM movement was at its peak. He's back on IG but just posts a lot of content for the Upstead fangirls because they blow sunshine up his ass and posts nothing really interesting like he used to.
  13. If he was 'fired' why would he want to come back? I think they also fail to realise that 200 loud fans on twitter is a small % of the 6million who tune in every week.
  14. I think it was the lack of Jesse saying in BIG letters so the rabid fans could understand that he decided it was time to leave, so it's speculation & their delusional belief that Jesse & Tracy are the same thing as Jay & Hailey & he would never leave her. Even if it was contractual/cost cutting they are still only cutting people they think have been played out. So Jesse... onward and upward, you deserved better than what Jay had become on this show.
  15. I guess they put 2 & 2 together & got 3... they don't want to believe he might want to do something different because once he said he'd stay for as long as they want him. Like every actor says when asked. I agree, he's looked like he's been phoning it in for the past few seasons and has been commented on here many times. If they were looking to cut costs, I'd assume Jesse, Paddy, Marina, LaRoyce would all be up there with regards to salaries so I guess it came down to who they thought still had an interesting story to tell. I honestly think they wrote him into a corner with the non-sensical marriage. They can thank Eid for that, he was desperate to get his fave front and centre. But there was nowhere for him to go. Challenging Voight every second week would get old very quickly, it already was and as much as he is the villan I don't think the broader audience wants the other extreme either. The fact that he was a hypocrite didn't help either. As far as his marriage is concerned the very fact they got married with little drama, with Jay just rolling over and accepting that his wife was a liar who covered up the murder & dumping of Roy's body and willingly committed a felony himself what else is there for this pairing? Angst over the colour of the paint in the bathroom? As for their fans.... the karma bus hits hard.
  16. correct. Eid was too focussed on shoving Felony Barbie into and onto everything that career development for Atwater, Burgess & Ruzek was completely forgotten. It was mentioned once that the exams were coming up & then nothing came of it. I think they did use it when they were setting up Woods, making Adam pissed off with Voight because he told Atwater about the exam but excluded Ruzek deliberately to make it seem to woods that Ruzek would have a beef with him now. But like all things Eid did it petered out when he got distracted by some other shiny object (killing Al instead)
  17. Guess he got tired of being Upton's lap dog. I wish him well, in whatever he's doing next. 9 years is a good long run.
  18. Is that even possible at this point? Although it might get Kevin some more screentime, but then he'd just either be propping her up or covering up her crimes so it's a doubled edged sword really? Quite the conundrum
  19. 😂 How prophetic (or just the same predictable bland writing)... Blondie again got pissy & the outcome for Anna was the same. At least she did her own dirty work this time.
  20. I just forced myself to watch this. And now with the news he's become a regular I have a lot of doubts they can pull it off. The writers just aren't that good. That broody, non-verbal demeanour may work for an episode but long term, particularly if they put him with Halstead. Could he be more judgemental & condescending? Were we supposed to laugh when he talked about 'trusting' the people you work with considering the free-wheeling lies the cabal dished up this year.... along with accusing him of lying... I laughed and I don't think I was supposed to, like when he had to go ask Anna what he should do with him.... Leader my ass. Whatever has happened with Jesse as an actor is sad, he just seems to phone it all it and seems incapable of drawing performances out of himself and his scene partner anymore. A season of Jay & Mr Broody might just kill this show for good.
  21. It would make no sense to partner him up with Atwater seeing as his whole interaction was with Jay & him taking him under his wing. The big question for me if new guy gets foisted on Mopey Jay is what poor soul gets lumbered with Felony Barbie. I hope it's not Kim, poor girl has been traumatised enough.
  22. Poor guy... he'll be used to prop up the Crimestead's while ignoring Kevin for the 10th season in a row & then disappear like the toddler cop did. Good luck to him though. The Crimestead fans are already wigging out thinking one of their faves may have to talk to someone else on the show.
  23. He robbed the school cafeteria to help a poor kid who was being bullied because he was turning up at school in the same clothes everyday, I assume to get him some food, although they didn't explain that. The implication was Adam always wanted to help people in trouble... hence he was helping Olivia because her Dad asked him for help.
  24. While that would've been an interesting twist it is expecting a lot from the writers that delivered the Roy debacle where the only outcome of Kim getting beaten, shot and flatlining was the Crimestead's getting married.
  25. I think this is one of the many issues with this show, the non-linear, non-sensical writing from one episode to the next. The characters are haphazard at best, it's all over the shop. Nothing makes sense and they try too hard to make this convoluted and 'suspenseful' but the audience is just left confused, especially when things are then just dropped for weeks on end after it.
