  1. I think it was supposed to be like last year when Kim was punched in the head right at the end of the penultimate episode.... except that was a much better storyline & more people cared about Kim & watched the finale to see what happened to her. This lacked any real oomph & from the way they didn't even bother to promote it I think they knew. Perhaps it should've been someone everyone likes....like Atwater, maybe people would've cared then? Lacklustre is overselling how PD bowed out this year. It wasn't even wimper.
  2. YES!!! Old Jay absolutley, this feckless version would be hilariously bad
  3. So a finale based around 3 morally repugnant characters doing their typical morally repugnant bullshit huh? Sounds rivetting. I was amused that Upton obsessives were expecting half the episode to be taken up with her husband & team hovering over her like Mother Teresa was dying. If Kim can get shot twice and flatline and apparently be back at work in two weeks, then of course Upton would be perfectly fine and back whining before the first ad break. Here's an idea? Not happy about lying to cover up a murder..... you know you could actually go to the Ivory Tower or FBI and admit to your own crimes. No, let's just continue to whine about it ad nauseum, continue to hide the truth from Kim and continue to stick you nose in where it is not needed and then whine about how wrong it is. I honestly hope they aren't setting this up for Halstead in charge because this would be the final nail in the coffin of this show. Not quite sure why they decided to basically sideline 3 main characters in a finale? That's not how you engage an audience or give people a reason to watch next season. An ideal finale leaves every fan, no matter who their fave is wondering what happens next and a reason to come back. This show didn't do any of that... at all. What a terrible finale. Thank god this season is over. I give it a solid D-
  4. I think they seriously underestimated how much people care about Anna and Voight's story. The first episode she was on was great, she's a good actress but that's not enough to base a whole finale around. And just maybe they could've had a character like Atwater involved seeing as this Anna chick has had a longer storyline than Kev this season. I do find it amusing that Upton is now all het up about Voight lying, when she was more than happy to lie to save her own ass at the expense of her colleague, and Halstead trying to be all uppity and moral.... bunch of hypocrites. Sadly we won't get the outcome of the explosion that we deserve.
  5. I mean personally I am glad we've seen nothing of them, & I will probably not even bother downloading the final two episodes, the Anna storyline isn't finale worthy, it's been too sporadic to develop any real attachment to Anna, and the bad guy just isn't interesting enough. It's ridiculous how they write this show now. They didn't even say one word to each other last night, they have made them soulless. IF you just picked up this show in the second half of the season, without reading anything about it you wouldn't even know they are friends let alone husband & wife. The writing of relationships on this show is either 200% or less than zero.
  6. The case was certainly interesting however it lacked a little oomph or suspense for me. I kept waiting for something to kick off. However it was a nice change of pace. I am glad that Daniel got his answers, at first I thought he might be the baddie in all this. Do Blondie & her husband actually know each other? Have they met? What a complete waste of a storyline. I mean I don't give a fat rat's clacker about them, but seriously what actually was the point of the ridiculous wedding? As for Burzek, sigh....... Sure Adam, buy your childhood home for your ex who doesn't know what she wants & her daughter, but you live in your shitty apartment still. Dumbest, most contrived plot yet for these two. It's like giving fans Burzek without actually giving them anything. I honestly thought Adam would be the one to resist admitting that Mak may have issues, not Kim. I found her disengagement in that opening scene really odd. I still say that Adam is the one character that has bonded with Mak more than Kim. They've spent more time on his relationship with her and neglected Kim's relationship with her. If the idea of the writers was to show Adam's growth then fair play, but we know they aren't that good and they've fallen into it by accident while trying to keep Burzek at arms length for some bizarre reason. Usually shows have one 'on' couple & one 'off' couple & this show has what? A whole lot of nothing. If the plan to keep Burzek apart It certainly hasn't been to showcase the Borestead's. A stronger outing, more balanced for character interactions, (except Kev of course, who needs to wear red now to be noticed) but it's all just window dressing while they continue to cram every single bit of personal development into one episode ignore it for weeks on end. The centric episodes need to end.
  7. I found it a little much also as in reality, with what they chose to show on screen, I didn't get any real connection with Atwater and Celeste. Because the show chose to not actually show any of their relationship, by not even mentioning it for weeks on end inbetween Kev's sporadic episodes it was hard for me to get any sense of how this relationship meant so much to him that he couldn't let it go. It was just shitty story telling all round... which is sadly the norm for this show these days.
  8. I do understand how people had no issue with it, I just had a personal experience with something very similar, by a cop no less, it just made me feel very uncomfortable...bad memories I guess. I don't disagree with anything else you said 😀
  9. I'm a bit mixed about this episode, It was long overdue that Kev had another focussed episode, the fact he's had so little this season is ridiculous, and I am so glad it wasn't his usual black v blue episode so I wanted to like it more than I did. It just felt a little flat. I am not sure whether it was because they now seem to be trying too hard to 'mix' up the partners that it came off as disjointed. He was here there and everywhere with a different person each time. Mix them up fine, but do it for the whole episode, not 4 different partners in one. It just felt, i don't know, desperate from the writers. I have hated the Celeste storyline from the end of the first episode, when they stupidly made Kevin lie to her and then continued to have him lie to her.....Kevin deserved so much better than that storyline. However I am on Celeste's side 100%. He broke her trust & not in a small way. What I didn't like about this....aside from hearing zero about it for 8 freaking episodes, is that he is calling her every week and she clearly isn't taking his calls. For me (and perhaps because I've experienced something similar with an ex) it came off as stalkerish & disrespectful & I can't cop that from Kevin Bloody Atwater of all people. Maybe that's what left me feeling just a little meh about this unfortunately. On the other hand.....Kevin Atwater deserves his Detective badge.
  10. The Ruzek storyline was good to start the show by explaining how the team was built and he had Al as his mentor, older, wiser more seasoned (not always in the best way), but they've now done it with Rojas & this guy and it's well past its used by date. And for all the blathering about the elite Intelligence Unit it's a bit of misnomer. It's just four cops who are all about the same experience level. We are season 9, Atwater & Burgess were patrol officers, but they weren't rookies so they'd at least have a year under their belts by the time the show started, so they are about 10 years experienced....and low and behold we find out this year that Upton is also 10 years on the job but we are supposed to think she is this worldly super cop as well but she only had 5 years on the job before she was bought in as some shining beacon of moral integrity. So longevity as cops in this show is about the same, Halstead was clearly a couple of years at most ahead of them. Al & Antonio bought the experience that made Intelligence, well Intelligent. Now it's just hot young ones that bang each other.
  11. I totally agree, although the issue I have is even when they give us these diverse characters they don't use them. They had Antonio, but couldn't find any more stories for him, so he went....then they bought in Rojas, who was also supposed to be fresh out of the Academy super cop & she just disappeared. They actually announced a new cop starting last season, the black guy who was in two episodes & then he disappeared. Beghe said in an interview how great he was & such a great dynamic he bought to the show & he was never heard of again. They have Atwater and they never use him, this year has been particularly bad. What is the point of expanding their cast to included diversity when it's just a tick the box exercise? If they are targeting a middle-aged demographic then they are doing it wrong, they seem to be catering to the loud mouth tweens on twitter who spend the whole episode trying to see if Mr & Mrs Goodyear are still wearing their ugly assed rings.
  12. Rick Eid only ruined PD, he had nothing to do with Fire, they turned into FireCop all by themselves.
  13. He's not a new regular, he was a guest star. He's not listed in the actors for the next episode, so unless they bring him back down the track, I think he was a one and done.
  14. It has no competition on a Wednesday night, hence it's gotta away with declining ratings & poor storytelling. I'm the same, I've missed more than half this season and don't feel like I've missed a thing.
  15. As a long time fan of Halstead, it must be depressing watching what he's become?
  16. 45 mins of Halstead the Hypocrite..... hard, hard pass. Nobody in this unit should be anywhere near anyone at the Academy.
  17. Come on now, Atwater has used up 90% of his allotted time this season. They need to save something for his token black v blue episode coming up. It was ridiculous how little urgency or care anyone showed Ruzek when he OD'd. No one at the hospital to make sure he was okay, no one drove him home. Where was Trudy? Voight literally disappeared. Mr & Mrs Goodyear were as meandering as always. His best friend just couldn't be assed & then Kim basically tells him 'yeah we are better off without you.'.... I don't get why the writers seems to hate these characters so much. Burgess and Ruzek are basically the shows punching bags. Blondie can't cross the road without having a crisis and everyone faps over her....guy almost dies doing drugs to save a girls life..... nothing.
  18. Once again Paddy puts in an awesome performance & the case side of the episode was probably the strongest all season. Paddy consistently pulls off his centric episodes & keeps you in there from start to finish. Kim is a bitch to him. She didn't tell him about the change in dinner time, then was pissy because he didn't know, didn't think to text him and see why he was late, then doesn't want to talk, because 'she's tried'...spends the next half of the episode ringing random people to look after her recently kidnapped kid, texts him saying Mack is missing his scrambled eggs.... and then we get the ending.... Adam almost dies, tells her to tell Mack that he loves her & she's lucky she's got Kim as a Mom.... and then what does she do, tells him she was better off without him around. I am actually starting to think that Mack would be better off with Adam and not Kim tbh....What a cold hearted witch she is becoming. The wirters need to decide what they are doing with these two. I suspect they don't have the guts to end them because they know they are a fan fave and they need the viewers. But this constant beating of them, two people who are trying to do a good thing for a traumatised orphaned kid isn't realistic or enjoyable and hasn't been for a while. So either end it, tell the audience and they can decide whether the other characters are interesting enough or quit with the trauma porn & at least let them be happy being 'co-parents' because not only are they refusing to let them be a couple, they are also refusing to show them as a 'modern family' either.
  19. OMG, clearly that's the brief they are following for Kim's character, to the letter.
  20. It's not so much the Real Kim, because anyone with this amount of persistent trauma is never going to be happy, I think we all miss the OLD Kim. What the writers need to do is ease up on her, this never-ending cycle of trauma and misery isn't realistic or interesting anymore. It's actually becoming disturbing.
  21. So how long is long enough? 2, 4, 5 years? I don't think you can arbitrarily put a date on how quickly people get attached to people. She was a child that they have rescued, cared for and protected everyday for a year. Of course you can form attachment, I'd say it would be weird if they hadn't.
  22. The show constantly has Kim using 'the kid' as a weapon against Adam, either Makayla or their baby. It's old and tired. She named him guardian in case anything happened to her, which it did, he stepped up took care of Makayla & has slept on the couch ever since. They were moving in together and spent the entire previous episode talking about 'their kid' 'their family' 'our daughter' ....the writers having Kim say 'my daughter' was a dick move. They deliberately make Kim look bad to a guy that shows up for her constantly. Adam has been in Makayla's life just as long as she's been in Kim's. Sure Kim is the legal parent (putting aside how asinine that whole storyline was) but Adam has been there from the start, of course he has strong paternal feelings for her. She needs to either cut him loose completely or sort her own issues out. He's not going to leave of his own accord because he's stupid and clearly in love with her. But she won't because she needs him to be her back up and to prop her up.
  23. They could've gone to Adam's place....or Kevin's or Trudy's...anywhere but there. Perhaps the fans should be as superficial as the writers clearly are, or think we are. They constantly just miss the mark on the little things.
  24. Paddy actually broke his shoulder IRL so they had no choice. There is no way this show would carry over an injury, shit Kim recovered from flatlining in two weeks. It also explains the very rushed, lacklustre explanation last week & why he continued working the rest of the episode like nothing happened as they clearly couldn't change the script halfway through shooting & given the lack of acknowledgment this week I think we are just supposed to pretend it's not happening.
