  1. I was starting to think it was too much a "what can go wrong" wedding show but they tugged at the heart strings and made the wedding the one I personally wanted from the beginning. I also cried . Definitely need tissues. I loved Sister Monica Joan's poem and agreed with her about her first reading. I also felt Phyllis's pain of becoming in some eyes, "old and useless" and invisible. Never on this show but a real feeling felt by many. To have the friends and comradery they all do is a blessing and I can only admire it, not having the same town or group of women but it is worth more than any tiara in the world. I caught the baby name at the end....tore me up, my husband is like "what are you watching"
  2. I know they didn't all know each other but I would love to see some "oldies" visit for the wedding or any other time. (Chummy??) I hated the Lucille story line and even the article where she says Cyril should stay. How much time did the writers have? It's sounds like not too much. They made a woman full of faith, within less than a year think God abandoned her and become bitter and depressed. She walks out of her blessed marriage and doesn't tell her husband she's staying there. Beyond odd and rude. I never have complaints but they didn't do this well. I also feel the constant talk of wedding plans might be "real" but it seems like they are just setting up nothing going as planned but looking at future pictures, it does happen and looks joyous.
  3. If Colin isn't in the last episode, maybe something happened to him. He was missing before and suddenly came back and they just probably didn't want to have him and trainer on set. It is glaring at times. I'd love to see him interact with their son.
  4. Thanks, I think we will see the funeral because just watching him die surrounding by family is beyond depressing but they can do it as a montage. We saw a classy way on ER years ago, Mark the doctor with cancer was in bed, wife found him when he died, you saw her face, then the funeral could be shown and after funeral get-together. I really liked the Jon scenes and since they keep bringing him back, do you think being such close friends, Nash will have him appear once more. Both just friends, not the typical romantic, "let me lead you to heaven" kind of thing, but I can kind of see them doing it.
  5. I've been kind of hate watching once in a while. I watched the last 2. Did I miss something, did Gary cut hair off thinking he was getting chemo? Many don't have you lose hair. My coworker with ovarian and my nephew with colon cancer didn't but every cocktail is different. I didn't cry but it was very depressing. Was Gary's cancer that bad? I thought Maggie's was. The move with Eddie and Delilah was corny, they weren't going an hour and a half away from anyone, how could they be there in 3 minutes, 24 hours a day? The only part I hated was the "How did you do it" from Maggie as others have stated. I mean she was upset but did the writers have amnesia? It was hard on her kids but Delilah was leaving Jon and and having her lovers baby. Just a little different. With one show left, I doubt Gary will die in it, but I think it's classier to just have him be expected too unless it's 2 hours. Very sad show, almost made me forget the horrible ones after Jon's death, the dog (is the dog still around they stole??)he was sweet, and the bad scripts about most of their antics. It was never This is Us or Thirtysomething but it was fun to hate-watch on occasion. I stopped when the Jon saga stopped and fell flat. I hope they do a good job summing it all up for their fans.
  6. In a quick followup on Nate in last episode: in an article someone asked about Nate's change of hair color. I was tired watching but still noted it but thought maybe it was the lighting. They said " Why does Nate's hair turn GREY in Ted Lasso? The actor revealed that the hair color of the character was a deliberate change in order to show the character's transformation." I hope for the "Lasso" redemption ending, he was awful but he's not evil like Rupert. I see the vulnerability and massive insecurity and don't think he could be Rupert. They also pointed out how Ted never removed him from the Lego game display, something I must have seen but missed. He has hope. As obnoxious as Nate is, seeing him call his mom or grandmother about how to talk to someone, the dumb diorama done out of copying his dad and insecurity and seeing how much his culture and just being human needs reassurance from parents he is okay. That type of person is never attractive and in so need of mental health help but I dislike the "Jack" types much more, rich, no redeeming qualities, thinking they could buy people and get fake love for the baubles they throw at them. Giving of themselves is so much harder and buying things when you have the money is so much easier. I never found that attractive at all and when I did date a gentleman who was going to have even more money in his career, he joked to someone if we married, I'd give half his money away and I'd never be the "diamonds are a girls best friend" type. He's right and I'm glad I didn't, he ended up making big mistake trying to get even more money and fell from his pedestal. So that's why I love Ted, his softness and heart and smarts and I see Nate as not one dimensional although I recall telling my daughter early on "I don't like him!" lol
  7. I want redemption and I do think we will see a great conversation with him and Ted. How quickly it is happening, IDK, but it will come. I like that he can find himself lovable, being tortured by your past and not getting help is hard but he's a basket of issues needing help. Maybe the hostess will help him in a way the doctor helps Ted. Keeley drives me nuts now, I try to love her but they make her the dippy blonde and any half way decent remark is made into something spectacular. I don't see chemistry between her and Jack but maybe others do. That is usually "acting" since many actors don't like each other but I just don't see it. And I agree with prop errors but I don't think the behind the scenes Lasso crew give it much thought. Love the scenes with Sam and dad and Roy and Jamie.
  8. We had yellow one as the the last one my family owned. : ) Yes eggshell was always showing dirt more easily and being next to the stove. I never got the pink princess phone I wanted as a teen but they actually still sell them for people with a landline. I told a friend it is full of stereotypes but in a funny way, but some might think a little over the top. They don't show balance too much but obviously her relatives etc aren't like them. I barely remember the wedding first season, but she was one who made it embarrassing, not everyone else. My coworker didn't know it was a comedy, but more of a drama and I told her to check it out, might be a new favorite and you get to binge many seasons. It has a large audience but I've never met anyone who watches it yet at work or home except one family member. Call the Midwife was like that for me, it took 6 seasons and a false start to get me hooked and then when not feeling well, I was able to watch and not worry about Covid delayed stories, I was good. : )
  9. I love this dress combo too and first time I've seen them "match" but no mention of it from Midge so subtle. Still love the one I posted the most from season one courtroom but this year has been harder to get cute outfits and this was a winner. Gordon's marriage reminded me of Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, but he was "religious" and thought cheating was better. (sarcasm) I felt for Susie when she said" I have no use for wives who shouldn't be wives" but those times were much harder than now for anyone who was gay. Midge has some chemistry with Gordon but nothing like with Lenny, that was electric. I don't see why Gordon can't divorce and they both just live their lives, divorce did happen then.
  10. That was the dumbest plot to me, why do that if just for a laugh from Susie? It seemed so odd to me that whole piece and then it cut to further down the road. Maybe they will do something with it later, but I don't want dreams or that line of writing. It was a big "why bother" Midge would never lose a toe and the not mentioning it at all, seemed weird. I don't recall Susie even joking about it. On FB the Mrs Maisel staff just smiles when someone mentions it or says "it recovered".
  11. I was thinking that too, why have the whole toe thing...it wasn't that funny, that whole part seemed like a dream. I agree, re Lenny, I know he took a bad path but their chemistry is just there, he is so charismatic, as someone said, he doesn't have to talk to Midge. I hope her boss doesn't keep hitting on her, happened to me my first full time job in 70's. I kept refusing (also stayed in same position) He's not season regular this season and its about 4 years until his "real" death year. This interview sheds light on his appearance but doesn't leave me with a good feeling of too much more sadly. ; ( It is all about Midge. I would love to have him show up at a big event in the audience but I'm not the writers. https://ew.com/tv/the-marvelous-mrs-maisel-luke-kirby-lenny-bruce-airport-goodbye/ Part of linked interview: What does change their relationship is their argument at Carnegie Hall, the elephant in the room when they cross paths at the airport (a scene which they shot at the former TWA terminal at JFK airport in what is now the TWA Hotel). Midge is the one to bring it up, promising to Lenny that she isn't going to blow it, which he says he will hold her to. "He puts what she says in an 'Okay, now show me,' kind of place," adds Kirby. "He doesn't take the hook of sentiment, but he definitely will take somebody at their word and watch to see how that word grows." The scene is played as a farewell, and Sherman-Palladino sees it as such in sending Midge into the final leg of her journey to breaking out as a star. "We were in 1961. He was about to hit his downward spiral," Sherman-Palladino reflects. "We talked a lot about what more did we need from the character? That moment on stage of Carnegie Hall, everything between her and Lenny has been leading to that moment, not the moment where they sleep together." Once that happened," she continues, "especially since it was the tail end of our journey, Midge needed to then get herself in gear and get herself to where she needed to go. But we wanted to check in with Lenny. We didn't want to leave with the sadness of Lenny. We wanted to leave with the moments that Midge would take with her and lean back on. When things are bleak and things aren't going the way she wants, that's the stuff that she wants to remember from her time with Lenny. But we also wanted to see that this business can eat you alive. The loneliness and travel, it's a treacherous business to be in and it can do terrible things, even to the strongest and the most gifted. That was another thing we wanted to show. You make your decision to lead that lonelier life, and you have to be strong enough to endure it." For his part, Kirby wasn't sure if this airport scene was his goodbye to Midge. But he certainly felt it was weightier than many other scenes they'd shared. "I didn't know where the season was going to go," he says. "But I definitely played it differently than any other time that we've said goodbye to each other. Something about that red hall gave me an instinct that this was a little different from our prior encounters." Whether Lenny might return, fans will have to wait and see.
  12. I liked how he owned why he loved the place, made it seem the model was "clueless" which she was of course and didn't start stuttering about going somewhere else. Let her leave, she got her photo op. I think the hostess always liked him but didn't want too and when she overheard conversations, softened. Maybe Nate needed that to be himself with her which we saw later.
  13. Especially it's all the mom's fault. She had quirky but loving grandparents and father and her brother seems fine. She was well educated and probably didn't see her mom often at times which sucks but for some parents, it's sometimes better to be with others who love you. Midge wasn't mom of the year for sure, she wanted her career but she wasn't cold or unfeeling overall. If the charity was a publicity thing, she might feel even more angry but I am hoping they don't do that to Midge the last year it's on.
  14. I was the odd ball who didn't like it with This is Us. Let us see it come out, not tease with FF moments. We know sadly Maisel is done this year so not as painful as seeing season 5 clip in season 3, but still. Let us just see it unfold.
  15. I thought they might have done a brief flashback swirl ending with the snow and Lenny etc. Some other shows do that when they have been off a long time. I didn't get those scenes either, I remembered Lenny and Midge and Mei. I'm not one to rewatch episodes although Midge and Lenny...that was the most chemistry she's had with anyone. They are saying Mei's exit was planned and I can see that. Joel settling down with doctor wife in the making, a baby etc didn't seem probable. It did seem rushed though, 5 minute exit like she wanted to do as little as possible. Part of interview In the same interview, Sherman-Palladino mentions that Mei's exit was put into place long before Hsu became Everything Everywhere All At Once's breakout star, earning an Oscar nomination and heaps of praise for her performance as Joy and Jobu Tupaki. As the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel creator explains, Mei was only ever intended to be temporary in Joel's life and not a permanent presence. Sherman-Palladino said that Mei was introduced as a way to disorient Joel, representing the next generation of women that would come after Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's Midge. Contrasting the two, Sherman-Palladino adds that Midge fell into her ambition. Mei, meanwhile, demonstrated a different path. It was an overall striking scene, with Mei revealing that she'd decided to have an abortion to pursue the life that she wanted.
  16. I hope so too, they are too good together. I know finding a new soulmate is boring, but having her with so many husbands and men is so overdone too. Had to be the " bad mom" etc. I expect with the previous writing, it will get better. The first day of the job was pretty realistic for that time. "You can remove your hand now Abe" lol Some things change, Abe is consistent. When they showed her clothes, I thought of my favorite outfit, when she was in court season one. Loved the color and combo.
  17. The beginning was odd, lot of talk of toes...lol. I miss Miriam's sharper outfits and wit but thought as others said, her daughter hit it out of the park in the intro. Reading about the depressing future scenes, I wish it had more humor. It was a nice mix before. Lenny....the best part, they have such great chemistry, he's so handsome and I wanted him to give her a kiss even if inappropriate. We never really saw flashbacks of that yet and I thought they might have picked up a little earlier than her home.
  18. That was the best. The chemistry between some of them is epic, but not all. I guess we will see who the "family" is sooner or later. I like waitress and Nate but the model made no sense at all. Why did she ask him to call? She's in no need of dates, she can pick and choose and I'm sure is ignored by some. It went the way you'd think, but Nate talking about his family was sweet and calling his mom showed his underbelly again.
  19. The actor who plays Nate says he tries not to read social media since he knows his character is hated for now but still unfinished business. Part of interview: Not that I condone Nate's actions in Season 2, but I feel like you can see where they're coming from. You can see that they ultimately stem from a toxic relationship he has with his dad and these deep-seated insecurities that he's had his whole life. He's not a different person. He's the same person. He's just been given a little bit more power and he's chosen sadly, to use that power in quite sort of bullish ways. There's quite a lot of reckoning to be had in Season 3. I don't like Nate of course, but I always see how insecure he is, how fragile in many ways, 2 steps away from a woman or person he admires destroying him. Ted built him up but he felt betrayed by him and couldn't talk to him anymore than he could his dad. I'm sure there will be a corny apology I will cheer for unapologetically, but only time will tell.
  20. This mentions Juno's weight loss. Not only Lasso fans noticing. https://news.amomama.com/301215-juno-temples-weight-loss-followed-her-ye.html I hope some of the gloom lifts, some speculate Ted might get back with his wife because of just her smile after they hung up. Who knows, but I wish they weren't divorced and just maybe separated. It's almost like you know certain things have to happen, the losses and Jaime getting back in fighting shape, but it's how they do it. I hope it's not just filler. I love the show but I almost want to FF certain scenes now. I hope for some curve balls you don't see coming. I also can't believe they had Keeley so naive she doesn't even know who she works for. Embarrassing.
  21. True, very important difference and how that happens if it does leads to a more open path. The actress delves into her own life vs Rebecca's in this article https://www.indiewire.com/2023/03/ted-lasso-hannah-waddingham-rebecca-mother-1234823679/
  22. When she said "pregnant" to Rebecca, I just thought this has to be a big misdirect. I thought about Rebecca saying she was "late" earlier to Keely but then maybe it was just to that appointment. They way she was drinking I don't think so. It's second hand, never confirmed it, but my Mom told me my neighbor who was married, 4 kids, always fighting, kids a little crazy, had marriage counseling at church with a nun. He later married her. That if true, kind of yucky too. I feel for Ted but I want to see him move on but feel bad his son had to be in the middle. I feel no way Zava will stay playing to the end, it's much more "Lasso" to have the old star teach the almost old star to be better and the team carries it through. Time will tell if he gets hurt or lets his ego have another get the goal. I don't like Shandy at all, trying to like her but she's way too rough around the edges and doesn't fit. There isn't a redeeming thing about her yet. Keeley is her friend but I don't see that chemistry either.
  23. Found old article https://www.courant.com/2017/08/21/a-19th-century-getaway-boarding-with-the-bixbys-at-old-sturbridge-village/
  24. So true! In reviews for the reenactment mentioned in my post previously, many loved it (one day/night) but many said the reality, even if not the same, was too much and TV really made it seem much easier. Common sense but still. The hardest was making dinner and some of the chores. It just took so long and uneven with fire vs gas and electric. The beds were ok but hay etc is not pillowtop. ; ) it was nice to disconnect from phones, play simple games, talk at dinner but not "I want this daily" type of thing. It's different from the "green" people now who live off grid with much better technology, clothes, food and solar. If I ever see it again though, I'll post.
  25. Wow, where are you looking? In CT, modest homes in nicer areas are 300-600,000, with million dollar homes only being in very affluent areas of Fairfield etc. If sold, they would have a lump to grow in certain funds. Scary to have possible rental income the way they are saying. After doing that for a few years and knowing others, it not all it's cracked up to be.
