  1. No, that has nothing to do with the quality of the film. The outrage is because David Zaslav/the powers-that-be at WB went all in on The Flash, even knowing that screenings weren't that enthusiastic and that Ezra Miller is a criminal and a sociopath, because it's centered on a male character and shelved Batgirl because it's centered on a female character. The party line is that The Flash cost too much not to release and that Batgirl was only supposed to be released on HBO Max (and Zaslav is actively trying to destroy HBO), but the truth is that the misogynistic pricks thought the quality of either film was immaterial because the former would do bonkers business because it's male-centric and the latter would bomb because female-centric movies are horrible for business and just so gross (see Barbie for proof!). Of course, The Flash ended up being one of the biggest box-office bombs of all time, so there was some karmic justice in the end. Should Batgirl even be released, it might or might not do well at the box office (it does seem like we've reached our collective saturation point with superhero movies, to a large extent), but it wouldn't lose close to as much money as The Flash did.
  2. Wait, who thinks this? I'm genuinely curious because I've not heard that at all; all I've heard is that it's not a terrible movie, which is damning with faint praise.
  3. There is no rational explanation other than pointing out that every decision regarding films that David Zaslav has made seems to be based in trying to turn off moviegoers and cinephiles and propping up the reality content of Warner Bros. since that's world he came from. He's trying to destroy the HBO brand with his decisions, and it certainly seems like he's trying to do the same with Warner's film slate. My sense is that it's because reality content costs a fraction of scripted content, he has a completely misguided and myopic way of thinking about cost and benefit, and he is a piece of shit with no appreciation for art of any kind who has no business holding the position he holds.
  4. Thank you for your feedback, Tyler. We'll take that under consideration. Oh, btdubs, while we're telling other people what they need to recognize that costs us nothing and them potentially a shit ton, I think you need to recognize that it's time for you to come out of the closet.
  5. It's pronounced "Ohio State University"; the "the" is silent.
  6. I wish I could say I was sad Clemson beat Notre Dame, but why would I be sad about something so beautiful?

Karmically, I'm happy for the Rangers: they vanquished the Devil for all of us, so I think it's only right they win the brass ring as a reward.
  8. Did today's outcome atone for two prior Super Bowl losses, including SB XXIII during which Satan himself (Joe Montana) and his sidekick Beelzebub (Jerry Rice) broke the heart of a sweet, adorable, innocent, towheaded, ten-year-old angel (me)? No. No, it did not. But I'm not mad at it either.
  9. The contract between the two of them would prohibit him from ending the fake relationship. It would hurt her brand to be broken up with, and that is an absolute nonstarter.
  10. The Super Bowl is a communal event; people don't tend to watch it alone. At 10:00am on a Sunday, people on the West Coast are not going to be hosting or attending Super Bowl parties or going to bars, pubs, or restaurants (most of which wouldn't even be open at that hour unless breakfast/brunch was served, which would rule out all bars and almost all pubs) to watch the Super Bowl. It's such an exceedingly stupid idea that only Roger Goodell could've conjured it.
  11. They're ALL racist (all of the above, as well as the Redskins, the Blackhawks, etc.), but only Cleveland and DC have done anything about it. I invite anyone who wants to barf to go to ESPN's webpage right now. It's...I can't, I literally canNOT.

    That was embarrassing. #FireDaveRoberts
  13. I think that Aaron Rodgers is a deeply closeted gay man who is generally an asshole and who is also really, really angry about being closeted and that that rage has eaten away at him over the years, has started shooting out of him in other ways (the drugs, the anti-science/anti-vax bullshit, his general air of entitlement, etc.), and has created the hellbeast we now see before us. I might have had some compassion for the closeted part in the past (one of my uncles was basically forced back into the closet by my grandparents and was a very angry and greedy man the rest of his life), but, at a certain point, you make the choices you make and have to own them. I do think the closet kills, even if it's a slow death by a thousand cuts, because there's no way to experience that certain type of joy that comes with being able to live your life as you truly are. Rodgers can't or won't do that, so here we are.

What? Clayton Kershaw completely, totally, and utterly shitting the bed during the playoffs?

Come to my warm embrace, Gabe. I'll make it all better.
  17. Poor Deshaun! I can help you out with that.
  18. I heard a story about this through one of our local NPR stations here in LA. That Bob's Big Boy is about a five-minute drive from me, and it's an institution. So, so, so cool to hear that about Carey.
  19. As both a lover of the Bengals and a connoisseur of excellent fashion, I must agree wholeheartedly. That was a nice three-point win over the Rams. If this exact outcome had occurred on, say, February 13, 2022, for example...just pulling a random date out of my ass, no importance to it whatsoever...that might've been nicer. It's fine, no significance at all. I'm just spitballing.
  20. Can't they both be jerks?
  21. That's true. You've posted about both LSU's and Georgia's fans' bad behavior in this thread before, and the criticism is totally justified, as is the criticism of Bama's fans' bad behavior in this case.
  22. As always, Bama fans are the models of class and decorum.
  23. I never thought I'd agree with Mike Tyson on anything ever, but...yeah.

Alexandra Stevenson IS ditzy, bless her.
  25. From your lips... I'm starting to hate Mahomes, and that makes me sad because he doesn't seem like a bad guy and because it's not like it's his fault that his wife and brother are demons. At least, I don't think it's his fault...
