In defense of the hotel room... Those are often referred to as "fantasuites" and they are meant to be tacky and silly. I know people who roadtrip all over the US, trying to stay in all of them and find the worst. I have stayed in 4 rooms myself. (My son was crazy about the "pirate" room near Cincinnati.) They're fun, gaudy, and tasteless-but that's what they are intended to be. The fact that this couple found the room to be romantic is a little sad, but at least he tried and it was different.

And who is "Kacey"?

S03.E13: Against All Odds/S03.E14: Tell All
mamadrama replied to Drogo's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days
The fact that Maria keeps telling him that it's over and he keeps refusing to leave her is a little frightening. Trying to work out differences to make your relationship work is one thing; boldly stating that you're not going to leave her alone because you're "in love" is one step closer to lowering a basket with lotion down into a pit. It's not romantic. -
Between the 90 Dayers, the Pounders, and the LALers we'd make a fortune! We could even have some signature lines, like "the Darcey" (both gaudy AND a deal because you'd get 3 rings-one for each of your soulmates). The "appreciation ring" is something that we've gotten mileage out of to no end in my household.

They may have met through some production connections. Some of the producers who work on TEEN MOM also work on 90 DAY FIANCE. There's at least one guy, David, who's worked with both Amber and Jenny/Sumit. -
Caesar & Maria: Getting Nailed In More Ways Than One
mamadrama replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I think it's a little psycho, too. Creating all these scenarios down to writing Maria's script doesn't scream "romantic" to me. Everyone fantasizes and daydreams, but Caesar's taking it to the next level. I don't think he views Maria as a person with actual wants, needs, and personality-she's a doll he probably like to have a remote for. -

I was wondering if maybe he hoped that by shaming her and begging for her on international television that she'd cut him some slack and give him a holiday discount. -
What about "appreciation rings"? 😉

Split is also a gorgeous city-one of my favorites in Croatia. It's also where my husband bought my engagement ring. 🙂
-
Yeah, I knew that about Croatia. After traveling much of Europe as a travel writer, I started seeking places that weren't as popular.Croatia, Bosnia, and Slovenia were wonderfully quiet places 18 years ago. I could go for days without meeting another tourist. (In fact, the first time I visisted Bosnia I had to rent rooms from private individuals because they were still rebuilding their infrastructure from the war.) Although I am glad to see that many of the places raised the funds to rebuild their historic sites (the Dubrovnik castle, the Mostar Bridge, etc.) I hate how touristy it's all become. For many over there it's been good for the economy but for others it's brought a string of problems. I am taking my kids out of school next year and we're doing an 8-month backpacking trip through Bosnia, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, and Czech. I want to show them my favorite places while I can still walk.

Timothy & Jeniffer: Stepdad Squared (now with more SPS!)
mamadrama replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I'm to the point where I can't really even talk about these people like anything we see on TV is real. I've started just thinking about them as "the character, Tim" and "the character Zied." So much fakery...we might as well be watching a scripted dramadey every week. -
Yep, they filmed there. It's a pretty popular spot for rich people with yachts right now. Croatia is my favorite country. Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The island of Hvar is magical. Here's a picture I took of it a few years ago.

I'm not disagreeing with any of this. I simply replied to the "why didn't she move to another state" comment. -

That Omar moment might just be one of the realest, and funniest, moments I've seen on this franchise. -
Yeah, I'd see all kinds of red flags with this, but of course Emily won't because she's "different." The way he treats and talks about his ex wives? She should pay attention because that's the way he's going to be treating her in a few years.
-
Except for the multiple ex wives and extra children part, their story mirrors my own the closest. I moved to England to attend graduate school and met my husband there. We dated, lived together, and had a child before I returned to the US and applied for the K1 visa for him. Other than that, though, I think this couple may be our new Libby/Andrrrrei. I didn't dislike him in the brief moments that we were shown, but the "it will be different this time" mantra already has me side-eyeing.

Caesar & Maria: Getting Nailed In More Ways Than One
mamadrama replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
So I just started binging S2 of Love After Lockup. The more I see of Scott/Lizzie, the more I see similarities between him and Caesar. Scott spent $90,000 on Lizzie while she was incarcerated, and I think he did it NOT because he wanted to "help" her, but because it was a way of basically buying her and making her feel obliged to him. I can see the same out of Caesar. Let's say, for instance, that he really DID spend $40,000 on her. If they got together then he'd hold that over her head forever. "I worked weekends for you", "I spent money on you", "I worked extra hours for you", etc. Nobody forced him to do those things. In one way the men doing these things look like weaklings, dummies who are just so in love that they've lost their damn minds. In another way, though, it's almost sneakingly manipulative. It binds the woman to them, in a way. -
At this point I'd rather watch a donkey kick Angela for an hour than to "catch up" with her "story."

Caesar & Maria: Getting Nailed In More Ways Than One

He wouldn't have needed to outwit producers. He'd only need to give them a good story. These reality shows "recreate", embellish, and fudge scenes all the time. As long as they felt like most of the story was true, I could see them buying into it. I personally know 3 couples from the 90 Day series and about 45% of their storylines were embellished, if not downright fabricated. The essence of their stories was true, but many of the details were not. I do think he's a dummy, though. -
Went out to eat tonight and the Mexican restaurant was out of nachos. My 12 yo son: Oh what a blow we have been dealt! This is bad sish-way-shun for our eating habit. Where's OUR yellow brick road?! I have never been more proud...

I like Jeniffer and strongly dislike Tim after following him on SM. I think SHE can do much better. As @John M said, that website is pretty clear about what it is, and even if he were confused, Caesar would have only had to do a Google search to learn more. If after sending her $40,000 and her standing him up multiple times (neither of which I believe) he STILL thought she loved him then IMO, that's on him, not her. She wants a sugar daddy, maybe more than one. She is providing him a service-a hot woman who probably sexts him and video chats with him and gives him the illusion of a girlfriend. He is paying for those services. Now he seems to think that the rules don't apply to him and he wants sympathy as well as some freebies. AnastasiaDate is an adult website that basically pays women to be various levels of "escorts" for men. While I don't think Caesar is the sharpest tool in the shed, he isn't dumb. He supposedly sends her $800 a month for her "bills" and yet she somehow still manages to fly all over the world and take exotic vacations? He knew what he was getting into. Now the "vanilla creme lover" is using his "sad story" for some Z lister fame. -

While on vacation in Croatia, my husband bought me an engagement ring for $200-something incredibly over budget for how we were living at the time. It DOES have a diamond; if I hold my hand up to my face in good lighting and tilt it to the right angle and squint my eye a bit (similarly to how one must look at Tom to see the guy in the selfies he posts), you can see it. I love it. It means something to me. We aren't really flashy jewelry people, either. He also wears a titanium wedding band. For the past few weeks, he's been posting and talking about the "celebrity events" that he's doing around the south. Yeah, dude's gotten waaaayyyy too big for his britches. -
Laura & Aladin: A Whole New World (of Shit)
mamadrama replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I don't get that either. I don't underestimate the power of embarrassment or security, though. When I was with my asshole, I could've cut it off before it really even got started but I was too embarrassed to admit to myself (as well as to others) that I'd been wrong. I also second guessed myself. True, he wasn't my usual type, but maybe I was just being too shallow; his insides were probably wonderful. When the warning bells went off, I muted them. Did he meet her around the time of his sister's death? Maybe he mistook the friendship and support for "love". But yeah, more than likely he wanted other benefits, like the immigration stuff and some extra cash. -
Caesar & Maria: Getting Nailed In More Ways Than One
mamadrama replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I think Caesar is playing the part of the poor, lovesick fool who would do anything for love and to take care of his woman-someone who would literally work day and night and eat nothing but Ramen so that his poor (as in no money) girlfriend could have electricity and salon visits. He wants the world to see him as someone who had the utmost faith in his girlfriend but has now had his heart shattered into a million pieces. He's playing the victim card, hoping that the sympathy generated from the audience will either secure his place in another season or, at the very least, have women throwing themselves at him to try and "save" this poor, sensitive man who was unjustly taken advantage of. Maria was just a prop. He expected to be a fan favorite, someone we were all rooting for and felt sorry for after the heartless Ukrainian took advantage of him. Instead, he comes across as a dummy at best-more often a manipulative fake. -

I couldn't even finish watching that. The secondhand embarassment was too strong.
