  1. You mean his "fart waiting to happen."? Did you all catch him saying that? "It sounds like a fart waiting to happen but it will be delicious." Soooo funny. Because my inner 8 year old is still alive. Did look good though. Toot.
  2. I heard it from actress Allison Williams via the Here to Make friends podcast. 1st episode recap she threw it out there, she's a fan of the show. Probably seen a bit of plastic surgery in her life. She seemed very sure. It stuck. Honestly I don't actually think Bryan actually has implants but the idea is Hilarious to me. Like, maybe that's why we don't ever see Bryan hanging out with Copper the dog because Copper keeps trying to chew his cheek like a dog toy. Woof.
  3. I see what you're saying but think the friendships on this show are real. The contestants spend SO much time with one another and it's a unique experience. They clearly bond . The exposure can change how everyday life is for a while. You need others that understand that. It would seem that a "normal" friend might not want that side exposure? I know I wouldn't. If my bestie got insta-famous I would still be their friend but I might visually take a back seat. I may not take All The group Selfies for instagram for a while. And I might also say, hey, I'm here for you but I want my privacy so come over for some wine but we are not going out together. Cult of "celebrity" is weird but it's real. Example: A good friend of mine went on a blind (for her) double date with a memorable character on Survivor. She didn't watch the show. I do. She told me after the date what/who etc. The description of the evening had a lot of interruptions by his fans. This was at least a year or so after his season aired. So right after? I can't even imagine. Back on this episode. I like Rachel a lot. Easily my fave bachelorette in the last 10 years (hi Meredith!). Compared to JoJos final 3 swoopy haired morons, Bryan Peter and Erik are amazing. But I don't like any of them for her. Maybe a hybrid? Take the physical connection and desire from Bryan, the energy and pure support she shares with Erik and the open communication and everyday ease she has with Peter. That guy. Where's he?
  4. On the shallow end...Have I watched too many seasons of this show (yes) but was the fantasy suite that Erik got not all that? A decent AirBnb deal but not a fantasy suite. The couch looked uncomfortable. The ficus looked fake. Peter's was a little nicer.
  5. Peter said "fake cheeks" in reference to Miami aka Bryan. He knows! If that's not confirmation of his cheek implants I don't know what is.
  6. For me too. I literally said BOOM. Embalmed. Lol. I think I'd have fun hanging out with Amy. She's unfiltered. I like that. Even if it's a little inappropriate (the CPS comment from episodes ago I thought it was kind of funny). But she is all over the place. And though I have multiple theories of why she's still there, I can't believe she's still there!
  7. I finished them all too. Not what I was expecting, because I expected it to be funny. It it really is a study in cliche. My thought. The creators went to Harvard. I think there's this stereotype of Harvard people (though I know a few and they're mostly lovely) that they're a certain way. Let's say...obnoxious, elitist, competitive, and successful? It's a stereotype. So this is taking that stereotype to the unlikable extreme. I think they're doing it ironically? Do I care? Add to that to the predictable storylines, it was really disappointing. Music was good! This is my peer group by age so at least they nailed that. Pavement was ever present during my college years.
  8. Totally i like Addie. I think the Sara Moulton comparison is the best at least in regards to energy. But that PBS era energy is long gone on TV it seems. I think the word Addie used was Poised and I'd agree that she is. This show asks for a tall order. I went to a taping of The Chew a few years ago. Never been to a live audience for tv thing before. I was struck at how loud and energetic we had to be and how the hosts had to be "bigger" than normal. Because when I watched the episode it wasn't as insane as it was during filming. It appeared normal. So for newbies who are normal people in real life, they have to learn that, and what works for them. How to get bigger without appearing crazy. To me, Rusty is too much. Matthew is too much. If they're like that on tv it must be like the Tasmanian devil cartoon in real life.
  9. A few people have referenced Cory being elitist or snobbish but I don't get that from him. Just more uptight and perfectionistic. I can't knock the perfectionist tendencies. One, because I have them too. But moreso because if you run your own restaurant you have to be that somewhat. Doesn't make him good at this show, but I don't think it's an "i'm better than you" thing he has. But TV is a weird medium. Ok Rusty's dish. I like veggies. It looked good but I thought the way he put the toast in the green pea hummus, standing up on their sides, was SUCH a dude plating - it looked like Stonehenge. Interesting comparison. I recall it was not just the counter that Flay-san stood on but his cutting board, which is considered a sacred tool that should be kept clean etc. That is what offended Morimoto. All hypothetical but If Matthew went to Japan for Iron Chef he would do something way worse and he'd probably start a war. Ha. Obviously Matthew has potential for maturity. But he's not mature now, so i just want him to go away.
  10. Props to Kinjaz props. They took that ridiculous shiny round stage and were able to use the screens to fix the hideous back lighting that makes it hard to see the dancers. I could actually see them! And they played to the camera which they should because it's a TV SHOW. No offense to people in that audience but I don't care about them and their view. Sorry not sorry. ;)
  11. Hee! You are so right. I thought the sauces were good options and that you might pick a favorite or share with friends. People have different tastes (my brother hates mayo or anything mayo based for instance) . I think Bobby did say that he wished there was more guidance on what sauce went with what. That's fair. If all the contestants had cookbooks I would buy Addies cookbook. (Maybe Jason if it was just baking. ) Her skewers were a great idea. Non traditional, but creative. She's a bit reserved but it doesn't bother me. I think her clothing style is confusing too, but again doesn't bother me, it just is. Because I'm watching for cool food tips, not Refresh's Next New Best Friend. I think they want Amy to tell personal stories particularly because she's a military wife. They want that audience. (Not that all military families would watch her just because of that obviously, but marketing "people" have that perception because it is a very specific shared experience. They're a desired market because, so I've heard, they're more brand loyal, for instance.) According to the internets, Jadda is only 3 years older than Tiffani. I definitely sensed a slightly jealous/big sister/I-know-better-than-you thing from Jadda towards Tiffani. Maybe he has tried, but Cory would have been better off on Top Chef where he could be Chef first, handsome second. Actual restaurant chefs don't have the best record on this show.
  12. This! The shiny floor, the background graphics and the round stage with audience all around it that isn't dark enough makes it hard to see the dancers sometimes. The judges are getting a very different view than the TV audience. Super annoying. And I can just picture the conference room meeting where Jlo had her heart set on a round stage because then they could make it look like a Globe/World to tie in the name of the show or whatever. I'm sure someone said "it'll be hard to see the dancers if you have background graphics and that shiny stage" but it was ignored. More complaining Jlo needs to stop talking about the show on the show. "World of dance is the best." Shut it. If we're watching you don't need to sell us. Thx. The cut aways! arrrgh. Ne-yo has an opinion too. I wouldn't mind them editing it in occasionally. Maybe trade in 5 seconds of "locking in it" for some balance on the panel. I don't think production chooses the duels. In this sort of format I don't think the show can blatantly lie about the rules when $ is on the line but I do think production limits the choice. They could do that without anything they've said so far being a lie. JLo's a pretty good dancer, a passable singer and an ok actress. I am good at none of these. lol. So who is equally good at all three? Maybe Liza Minelli but it's rare. I generally like Jennifer Lopez, she has a charm and warmth, but this show is so oddly edited that's not coming through. That said, I'm really enjoying the dancing!
  13. I do not quite believe entirely that Le Twins picked Kyle for the reasons they said. But Kyle brought it, and so did they. Never underestimate. I know this shows my age but when Le Twins do coordinated steps I get Milli Vanilli flashbacks. But when they do more storytelling it's really interesting. The labs feminist message was great. I really needed that. Was it obvious? Yes. But I'm not a dance scholar so I'm ok with that.
  14. Hahahaha Nooooo! Not Hashtag Matt! #comeback #unwelcomecomback #unnecessaryuseofblowtorch #creepygrin
  15. I had no idea mango skins can be poisonous. Really interesting and glad that you brought this up. The more you know! I rewatched too ( because that does seem irresponsible) and while the mango skin definitely appeared on 1) the "hero" version that they style and photograph close up to announce the dish (and put on the web site etc.), and 2) in the version in her video (likely the same one). I looked closely to see if the plates that went to the judges and the guests had the mango skin on them, and it didn't look like they did. At one point Jadda talks and they show her plate and there's definitely no mango skin on that dish (and her body is in the shot so it's not a cut away). There are just flowers, meat, sauces. Though I was like a freak on the pause button and i was looking for this specifically, so .... realistically what viewer is doing that? Right? It's misleading. So maybe Addie intentionally only used it for styling? Or someone told her to take it off prior to service for the dishes? Or she realized that she didn't have enough mango skin to poison/garnish everyone's plates with so she didn't put it on so the dishes would be consistent? Doubt we'll ever know...
  16. Totally cute! With maybe a garnish of crumbled green pistachios as pebbles/grass/foothills whatever. Jason is a lot more Jason-y than on the Holiday Baking Championship. It's definitely dialed up and I personally don't think he needs ALL of that, but I still like him and I think he's a quirky but genuine person riding the wave. On HBC he started off making these recipes like bean pie (taste just like pecans!) and he learned what the judges wanted and adjusted his approach and improved throughout. I remember thinking (and posting) at the beginning that the guy had no chance with his depression era desserts but by the end it was clear he would win, because he did well (and because FN desperately wanted a home baker to win for once). It's all about timing. FWIW I would love to see a show about depression era desserts but I'm willing to admit that historical food is pretty niche. LOL Seriously? How did I miss that? I skipped last season. This show used to be an audition for a show, but how it's an audition for a hosting/judge gig. They've definitely pulled back judging based on "food authority". Clearly.
  17. It doesn't but it could! I was thinking about this. If she swapped pistachios for other (or added to) nuts that were more associated with mountains (pine? hazelnut?) and then used a "wild mountain honey" even if it wasn't, she could've brought something interesting and tied it in to the theme. That said, the judges didn't really care about matching the theme. Jungle gratin? Desert duck? uuuh ok. I've liked the challenges a lot better this season, so far at least. But I have been really underwhelmed with the food. Pretty boring. (Addy's lavender things from last week is the only thing that has seemed a little more creative than the usual FN stuff. ) I want to see more interesting flavors, not truffle oil and ahi tuna with avocado.
  18. Did TPTB tell the bachelors to stop using "not here for the right reasons" and instead replace it with "disingenuous" because they are using it like it's going out of style. I really liked that Dean didn't play the producer's sound bite game. *slow clap* Iggy is the Alex of JoJo's season. Short, full of himself, and the self-appointed protector of the Bachelorette that no one asked for. The thing with Alex was that at the beginning he had this "excuse" with Chad (as an explanation for his aggro behavior), but when Chad left he was still an a-hole. So it really wasn't about Chad. I sense the same thing with Iggy. As above, people that stir s--t do it wherever they are.
  19. There has to be. When Claire was acting president the buttons and her wardrobe was all very military inspired. Lots of metal buttons, an epaulet here and there. Now that she's back to her FLOTUS the buttons have not gone away but their use is more feminine. I didn't even notice Leann's black & white. Gosh darnit. I would like to think that the Secretary of State "falling" down the stairs was an ode to both 1) Showgirls and 2) a certain government official's alleged fear of stairs. The body count this season, yeesh. When is Murder She Wrote's Jessica Fletcher going to bicycle down to DC from Cabot Cove and start solving these crimes.
  20. Was the scientist from that ship, Thad, was his death foul play? Russian or Chinese? Suicide? I'm really confused.
  21. Ugh. If I was an actual Kleinfelds consultant I would be very angry that the dress code of nice black clothing was not required for the male "employees"- though i'm speaking specifically about Shay. The intern dresses well, as does Randy. (Though based on pit stained Tshirt Shay's outfit I'm finally convinced he's just there for TV - I know a lot of you were ahead of me in figuring this out but i wasn't convinced until this week.) Most of them I don't like - when there is no finishing to the edge it looks really cheap to me. But when there's some finishing to the edge - such as a small rolled hem, maybe some pleating, I think it can be quite beautiful. The stories this season have been pretty awful. In reality TV I don't mind a little bit of faux production lying to let us make believe that an event is happening naturally. When done well you make believe too and go along for the ride and that's part of the fun. A little bit. But this vow renewal storyline was just insulting to my intelligence. Eyeroll after eyeroll of this pretend serendipity, and forced 2 day deadlines. And the lesson they're teaching us - if you're pretty and have a nice figure (after 3 kids! the miracle!) and don't plan well you'll be rewarded. It's all BS but that's what I saw. I need to watch this show on mute.
  22. I thought I was going to feel "shocked" but instead I felt sad about the situation. For not wanting to be touched, Wife #1 was quick to hug #2 when she found the dress she loved. And there seemed to be normal friendly touch between the women, but when the husband was on screen in the 3up interview, her positioning was very away from him. I don't question her OCD diagnosis (and that might not be the type of touch that's the issue) but my sense is that there's more than that going on. I do know that being on a tv show and outing your marriage and health situation is probably the worst thing you could do. *sigh* Fashionista's wedding is coming up so it'll be interesting to see what she finally picked. Insta: @gloriousbe We shall see. I thought the deep plunge neck style looked really great on her, really liked that dress. I don't buy for a second that she actually thought she could buy a Spring 17 dress for a Spring 17 wedding. She's some sort of freelance beauty & bridal writer/editor/stylist/millenial jobs-having type, so at least minimally in the industry, I think she just wanted to try on expensive dresses, and promote herself. Which for the former, i'm actually shocked more people don't do.
  23. I'm fairly sure that's his daughter in the FB photo, he has 2 (based on my research). But yes he was still married to his daughters' mother in 2013, based on some news articles i found. I normally don't care that much to look into these people but those two just - is just so perplexing to me. Thanks for posting those Randy dresses. I like the pieced satin one and that's about it. I expected more and I did not expect a baby blue dress with sparkle pasties!
  24. So, according to her college alumni blog/newspaper thing they flew OVER the Grand Canyon in the helicopter ride but the ceremony was as at Valley of the Fire in NV. I guess it's just outside Vegas. https://www.qcc.edu/newsletter/2017/03/reality-show-features-alum The whole thing was so trashy and absurd. They are so unique you guys! They don't do things like everyone else you guys! So yeah Loved it! So much pent up snark. Ah, I've missed you, show. Oh Did they end up totaling up what her wedding outfit cost?
  25. I would hope that they get to wander around the flea some and check things out, outside of the 1 hour shopping. If not just for themselves!
