Fish boils are a Door County thing. While boiled fish sounds icky, it is delicious. We go to one every time we're up there. I've been to a bunch of supper clubs and agree with the poster who mentioned the specials -- fish fry on Friday, prime rib on Sat and chicken on Sunday -- with a regular, very meat and potatoes menu as well. I love a good supper club. The owners of the Harvey House said they were inspired by the Wisconsin supper club. Looking at the menu, it's not a traditional one by any means. I had to laugh at the $18 relish tray. That is ridiculous, IMO. Loved Dan winning with the relish tray! I have fond memories of the relish tray when I was a kid, just like he did. The veggies were so crisp and cold. There was usually a port wine cheese spread with hard breadsticks, a liver or fish dip that my parents loved. Sometimes really good cottage cheese. Served on a cold lazy susan. I loved spinning it to get see what was on there. What can I say -- I'm old and it was a simpler time :)

I seriously cannot handle the cries of "let's go" on this show. If I took a shot for every utterance, I'd be drunk off my ass within 5 minutes. I'm finding myself very irritated this season. I feel like Jordan is poised to win, and honestly, the only one that I could handle winning would be dreadlocks. He's fairly low key and has produced some good food. I liked the veggie girl at first, but she's irritating me too. Have you noticed that Gordon will give direction to his chefs? I don't see Richard or Nyesha doing that. Richard always has his worried, wringing his hands thing happening, and Nyesha is a great cheerleader for her team. But Gordon will tell people what to do -- especially Jordan who was really in the weeds last night.

I suspend my disbelief a lot for this show, but the team running into the building with no respirators or protective gear was ridiculous.

What were the little white things on Jordan's dish? My daughter and I couldn't figure it out. If we had a drinking game for every time someone says "Let's Go!" we'd all be tanked within 5 minutes. Once you notice it, it will drive you insane!

Baking is such a science and there are very specific ratios and ingredients you have to use to get the final product you want. To ask them to duplicate a cake without a recipe is ridiculous. It's not about a pinch of this or a pinch of that. I agree that it would be different if this were a baking show, but it's not. How any of the cakes were passable is a major achievement.

Boston Cream Pie is a cake. In the 1800s the terms were used more interchangeably because they used pie tins to bake most things -- or something like that. Another fun fact -- German Chocolate Cake is not German. It was the winner of a baking competition and the person who made it had the last name of German, so it was originally called German's Chocolate Cake. I cannot stand it when people say cook when they are baking. It grates.

S20.E07: Fiji is the perfect place to fall in love!
jackjill replied to Lamb18's topic in The Bachelorette
On Team Dotun. They are perfect together. Not seeing the same with Joey, but her love for him feels eternal? I don't get it. I just love her with Dotun. -
Fadi and T make me smile. I thought I'd be annoyed by them, but they're talented and crack me up.

I really, really wanted to like this because season 1 was so good. There were too many red herrings and too many plot holes for any of this to make any sense. Also... keep harping on this... I understand they wanted summer 2000 to look different, but Megan's switch from the typical teen look to slicked back hair/smokey eye hacker goth girl was unrealistic. If anything, she would have reverted back to ponytail Megan. Her new look would have drawn so much attention to her, and that's the last thing she would have wanted. Oh -- and her sister totally changed from summer 1999 to 2000 too, and they just threw that away. Very lazy planning and writing.

I found the interrogator creepy. Too bad Olivia was the guesser and guessed wrong because I think she would have gone far. Just slipped under the radar with her personality and relative.

S20.E06: Hometowns are the perfect place to find love!
jackjill replied to Lamb18's topic in The Bachelorette
I don't see any spark between Joey and Charity. She said she wanted to tell him she's falling in love with him and I was very confused. Part of it is that I find Joey bland. He reminds me of Brendon from Tayisha's season. Just blah. I think she lights up around Dotun in a way she doesn't around the others. It's really sweet. I'd take Xavier in a heartbeat -- great looking, smart and he knits. I'm in! -
I think it just goes to show how much they like Rami.

S02.E09: The Miseducation of Luke Chambers
jackjill replied to peachmangosteen's topic in Cruel Summer
I was thinking it's either Luke's dad or the sheriff who is at the dock based on the fact the person has khaki pants on. Who knows though. They better have an amazing wrap up for this. It's been dragging and there are so many things that are unanswered. Megan's look changing so drastically from January to summer -- why? The change in looks made so much sense last season, but what about this season? Why is she going all hacker goth. -
Chris is 30? Sure doesn't look it. I think it's funny how the contestants are so offended when someone is actually playing the game and strategizing. The point is to win,

All this talk of Cole being shunned, etc. after him guessing Shayne is ridiculous. Every single one of them would have done the same thing if they had been in his position and not 100% sure of Karsyn's relative. He broke up Shayne and Monay -- isn't that a good thing? It's not like on other shows where you've heard someone declare their allegiance with someone else and then totally roll on the them the first chance they get. They were flirty -- and if it can be considered strategy by Shayne, then it should be considered strategy by Cole too. I really enjoy this show but good grief these people are exhausting!

My family emotes "this is what I live for" all the time now for the most ridiculous things, thanks to Jeff.

Technically, Dan was the last one standing because they left him alone on that mountain. Did he get the Toyota truck like the other eliminated contestants or is he still waiting for extraction? This last episode was really good. It was interesting to see how difficult it is to make fire without a starter, and how tough it was when you are malnourished. (Jeff -- the lean vegetarian still had difficulty with this!) It was sad seeing Gary (who I'm not really fond of) break down and Steven give up and just take in the beauty of Africa for a bit. Jeff, the contestant (almost) everyone loves to hate, makes for good TV. He knows how to talk to the camera. He understood that this was a competition and was actively participating in it. He truly needs a mustache to twirl to be the perfect villain of this show. While I don't condone bullying, I understand the pile on. Jeff is so obnoxious, so in your face when he's on top, that he would be difficult to be around. He is a legend in his own mind (but quite a great self-promoter!) He also wants things both ways. He separates himself, then claims no one wants him around. He refuses to share, thinks about stealing other people's things, but then wonders why no one shares with him. He would drive almost anyone insane. I also wouldn't trust him one tiny bit. This iteration was interesting, but I do agree the competition part of it is counter-intuitive for most of the group. They like to survive together. Jeff did have one thing right, for all the hand-wringing about Matt leaving they all had a part in it. It was a competition. Someone had to lose. Waz deserved the win. I was happy with Dan and him being at the end of this. I am looking forward to some of the old guard being retired and seeing some new up and coming survivalists on these shows. I am growing tired of seeing some of the same faces over and over. Do they do anything besides being naked and afraid?

Anna's dress was poorly sewn on the back as well as being ugly. The ruffles she makes look really good, but the placement and the dress underneath just didn't work. It looked like a weird sack dress and the model couldn't even sell it. That being said, it did stand out. The judges see what the judges see. I get thinking "WTF" when her dress was called on the top, especially since even Anna didn't think she'd be in the top, but the piling on was ridiculous. The challenge was to show your aesthetic. She did that... I guess... since I don't understand what her aesthetic is and didn't during her season either. Anyway... I think a lot of the contestants were very thrown by this challenge and couldn't show themselves without having control over the fabric. Thank goodness Hester is gone. They can take their ugly hats, tacky wardrobe and holier than thou attitude with them. Rami should have slayed this challenge, but his dress was sad.

I'm getting very impatient. Luke is dead and obviously that is a big deal, but nothing else seems like a big enough deal for him to die.

I told my daughter that she'll come back again in a few years sporting a whole new persona. ITA there is nothing authentic about her at all.

Anyone else notice that Frankie, the Bonus Jonas, is now going by Franklin? This show is so much fun. I was honestly clueless about anyone but Travis, and, of course, Carly.

I came here to see if people were feeling the same way I was... I watched "Ice" last night and I'm heartbroken. I will miss Nicholas Hoult on this show immensely.

Me too! Why did they get their Mood purchases in garbage bags? What happened to the cute Mood totes?

Anna was always a bit of an odd duck... but she seems odder now. Hester can go any time. I'm glad she's toned down her schtick, but she still seems very performative. There are so many designers I would have loved to see again, but this crop is OK, and it's PR, so I'll watch.
