  1. Aafrin's parents are probably the only likeable characters in the entire show. And yeah, they probably will die.
  2. Lest we forget, she said when she went to the home, she didn't know that she would use the bat, which was coincidentally left in the hallway near the plaintiff's room.
  3. With the number of characters on the program, it really needed more than 6 episodes, imo. Or it needed less characters. Posting my thoughts about the dramas in general in the small talk thread.......
  4. That was golden. Belongs in the Top Ten Judy Moments Ever.
  5. From the NYT review "Will Aafrin, a Parsi, be able to overcome religious prejudice and be with his Hindu lover?" Answer: Yes he does. Next question: "Will Aafrin, a Parsi, be able to overcome racial prejudice and be with his British lover?"
  6. He's stupid enough to think that a guy who didn't know that minors can't legally enter into contracts is smart. Teen Bruce is the stupid kid who opens the door in 80s slasher movies. That's because Jim was mean to Barbara *roll eyes* Not because Jim arrested her brother, but because he was mean to Barbara...... Well, at least we know Tabitha is as brainless as Babs.
  7. Now, now, we can't let historic fact interfere with historic fiction.... After reading that google book passage, I wonder why the defense didn't ask for a jury trial. Anyhow, I'm not sure if this is true of India, but in 19th-early 20th century China the term " devil" was a racist slur against Europeans and other foreigners that came into common use after the Opium Wars. Again, I'm not sure if a similar slur was used in India.
  8. It's still early in the war, so maybe security isn't as tight as it later will be?
  9. I wondered if the cursive was Palmer or Zaner-Bloser...... Anyhow, I'm convinced that if you name your child Crystal (or any variation thereof), stripping is the profession she will most likely have.
  10. And I also think Nigel showed it to Guy because Guy was disgusted with Merrick and knew something was amiss with Merrick's portrayal of Hari as a rapist and radical.
  11. I think the defense would have been successful if they claimed the murderer hid in a a grassy knoll. Anyhow, this episode made Murder on the Home Front, which aired afterward on my PBS station, very enjoyable
  12. The fact that Nigel had Hari's file indicates the Raj wanted it all to go away and wanted the file to be lost when the government transfer took place.
  13. That has a Misery-like vibe. Ha! It is very wrong of me to want the NAZI to capture and torture Bob, but I hope they do.
  14. I think some people fall for these scams because they're banking that it isn't a scam and they'll save money. I've purchased things online that I wasn't too happy with the quality (read: clothing). Luckily I purchased them from stores (not eBay) and returned them. So for me, spending the time to go to the physical store and look at (touch and feel) the physical object before I buy saves me the aggravation, disappointment and hassle of returning it. But eBay of Pigs and this case is a good public service teaching moment for everyone who uses or is thinking about using bitcoin for purchases.
  15. I squealed when JJ referenced Ebay of Pigs in the bitcoin case. I loved the defendant's 'man in the middle' defense----kinda cheered for him because he was able to think of that while obviously stoned. (http://www.844bankbtc.com/bitcoin-man-in-the-middle-scam/) I found this update from 2011 about Kelli Filkins http://my-life-in-brunei.blogspot.com/2011/10/kelli-filkins-later-years.html
  16. That would make sense during peacetime, but she should play the odds that her husband will die on a mission and she'll be the recipient of his death benefits, pension, owner of his properties, etc.
  17. Congrats Teebax. While planning your wedding, just remember this: do not get anything in writing, do not keep receipts, and keep altering the design of your wedding attire so that the seamstress will deliver you a piece of crap that doesn't look anything like the photo in magazine because you wanted wide long sleeves instead of short, puffed ones, 2 inch navy blue piping instead of1/4 inch ivory, a deep V neckline instead of a round one, and an embroidered pic of blue Hawaii Elvis on your backside.
  18. Laz is dead man walking. Still wondering how he managed to avoid Cookie seeing his back after being naked with her for 3 days..... I liked how Lucious channelled Ravi Shankar on Boom Boom Boom.
  19. It depends on the Bat-canon because in the 1960s, Batman's mother figure was Ma Chilton, the housekeeper of his uncle Phillip Wayne, who was his guardian after his parent's death.
  20. I can suspend reality only so much.......But if Bruce signed it, it wouldn't be legally binding. And Theodumb-dore didn't figure out when he plotted this nefarious scheme. And Alfred didn't figure it out. Which tells me that they all have to start watching The People's Court and Judge Judy because "minors can't enter into contracts" is, like, Small Claims Court 101. I thought Bullock figured out Jim was held hostage in a church because Dumbara mentioned that she booked a church. Also......wasn't Lee at Police HQ, like inside the HQ? So how were the evil henchmen able to kidnap her and transport her to the church? Oh yeah....I forgot.....this is Gotham.
  21. Did they just retconn the entire Jim-Barbara engagement/break up? Because last season, I didn't get the impression that Jim and Dumbara were close enough to a wedding that she already bought a dress and booked the church before she ran off with Montoya because she couldn't handle Jim not involving her with his police work. Also, I think Theo was bluffing about the information he had about the Wayne's killer.
  22. I thought the same thing. But Mr. Milz informed me that Boris is on ground level and gas rises, so Boris might have been in a clean air zone while the much taller Alison was not. (How accurate Mr. Milz is, I don't know.) If anyone likes old black and white movies about the home front, "Mrs. Miniver" starring Greer Garson and Walter Pigeon won 6 Oscars, including Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Picture.
  23. Does Ralphie know Maddy and her family are broke? He seemed detached from her at the club.
  24. Daphne struck me as someone who wanted to "start life over" in India. Her parents and brother were dead. And she really didn't have any close family "at home". I think even if she hadn't met Hari, she would have stayed on after Independence. I think she loved India for the sake of India, not for the sake of the Raj. Initially, Sarah and Susan struck me as the same. both had lived in India until they were sent home for school, then returned to India. But I think Sarah loves and cares for India and its people so much that when she sees the effect of the British rule on India, it's a devastating blow. Sort of like, if British rule was so great, then why was Hari---who was raised and educated as an Englishman---be treated in such an unsavory way. And how could they (the British) allow someone like Merrick gain power and influence like he did. .
